The EA Steam Week continues with deals on <em>Crysis</em> games. Right now, you can get <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/crysis"><em>Crysis</em></a> for <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/17300/">$7.49</a> through the digital storefront, or <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/crysis-warhead"><em>Crysis Warhead</em></a> for <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/17330/">$4.99</a>; however, true, hardcore saving-money-on-<em>Crysis</em> fans will be more interested in the <em>Crysis Maximum Edition</em>, which combines the two for just <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/987/">$10</a>. Those prices will help you maintain enough savings for the rest of the stuff you'll be impulse-buying on Steam this week.<br />
<br />
These deals are active in North America, but a quick warning -- they may be different in your region. And they'll definitely be different Saturday at 1PM EST, when the deal expires.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/crysis-hits-rock-bottom-price-in-steam-sale/">Crysis hits rock bottom price in Steam sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 16:34:00 EST. Most people think summer is the time to go swimming and enjoy the bounty Mother Nature has to offer. Sure, you could do that, or you could spend your summer months as we do: sitting around in the A/C, eating cold pizza and playing some games. Thus, we present the <a href="http://eastore.ea.com/store/ea/en_US/html/pbPage.summer_promo_wknd_jly16/ThemeID.718200">EA Summer Weekend Sale</a>, which slashes prices on select EA games (PC only, folks!) every weekend. Until July 18, EA is offering 50% off both <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crysis">Crysis</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crysis-warhead"><em>Crysis Warhead</em></a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://gamerdeals.net/blogs/videogamedeals/archive/2010/07/16/ea-store-summer-weekend-sale-schedule.aspx">Gamerdeals</a> got its hands on a list of what's supposedly going to be offered throughout the promotion -- highlights include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragon-age-origins"><em>Dragon Age: Origins</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-shift"><em>Need for Speed: Shift</em></a>. We've contacted EA to confirm the list and will let you know what we hear back.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/17/ea-summer-weekend-sale-offers-a-seasons-worth-of-discounts/">EA 'Summer Weekend Sale' offers a season's worth of discounts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Jul 2010 02:00:00 EST. Despite discounting games as part of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/steam-holiday-sale-is-a-legitimate-christmas-miracle/">its ongoing holiday sale</a> event, Valve has seen fit to offer <em>even more</em> games at reduced prices, this time <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/3295/">flipping the switch</a> on massive discounts for triple-A titles like <em>Street Fighter IV</em>, which can be yours for $10, and <em>Crysis Maximum Edition</em> -- a bundle of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis">Crysis</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis-warhead"><em>Crysis Warhead</em></a> -- for under $14. <br />
<br />
That's not all, as your hard-earned greenbacks can also net you cheap digital copies of <em>Medieval II: Total War</em>, <em>Half-Life: Source</em> and <em>Shattered Horizon</em> -- though we'd be remiss if we didn't point out the very tempting combo of <em>Darwinia</em> and <em>Multiwinia</em>, both of which can be yours for $3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/31/crysis-and-street-fighter-iv-round-out-todays-steam-deals/">Crysis and Street Fighter IV round out today's Steam deals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Dec 2009 20:30:00 EST. If you actually possess the fungible assets required to purchase a government-grade supercomputer -- you know, the kind with an actual human brain <em>built right into it</em> -- then we imagine you don't concern yourself too much with time-sensitive discounts. Still, we thought we'd bring this to your attention: If you own an impossibly powerful computing device, you can buy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis"><em>Crysis </em>or <em>Crysis Warhead</em></a> on Steam this weekend <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/987/">for just $15</a> a piece. Well, you can buy them regardless of your computer's hardware specs -- but if you hope you play them, you better think about investing in some <em>cerebral processing power</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/crysis-and-crysis-warhead-just-15-on-steam-this-weekend/">Crysis and Crysis Warhead just $15 on Steam this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Nov 2009 16:30:00 EST. Like momma always said, if you're gonna effect change, the best place to be is on <em>the</em> <em>inside</em>. Avni Yerli, managing director and co-founder of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crytek">Crytek</a>, has joined the GDC Europe advisory board, where together with existing members he hopes to "create a conference that will hit the industry's nerve." <br /><br />GDC Europe's Frank Sliwka put it another way, offering hope that Yerli's membership will "elevate the conference to a whole new level." Let's just hope the board's processors can handle the stress without -- dare we say it -- crying.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/22/crytek-exec-avni-yerli-joins-gdc-europe-advisory-board/">Crytek exec Avni Yerli joins GDC Europe advisory board</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 May 2009 20:15:00 EST. You know, Frankfurt has given us so much. There's Saint Bartholomeus' Cathedral, Hauptwache, to say nothing of the annual Festival of Stoneware. Now, the German city's own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crytek">Crytek</a> is giving you yet another gift: A free trial of the multiplayer-only <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis-wars/"><em>Crysis Wars</em></a>, beginning today and wrapping up April 17. You can find all the <a href="http://www.mycrysis.com/newsdetails.php?news=41121">details here</a>.<br /><br />Also announced this morning: <em>Crysis: Maximum Edition</em>, which includes <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Crysis/">Crysis</a></em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis-warhead"><em>Crysis: Warhead</em></a> and <em>Crysis Wars</em>, bundled together for latecomers to the series for $39.99 beginning on May 5. ... What, you thought Frankfurt would give you that for free too? You've already got <a href="http://www.frankfurt-tourismus.de/cms/tourismussuite/en/events_trade_fairs_messe_frankfurt/waeldchestag_frankfurt_folk_festival.html">W&auml;ldchestag</a>, how much more do you <em>need</em>?<br /><br />[<strong>Update: </strong>The trial's apparently not going to start until around 3 p.m. EST. EA's perpetual joke -- <em>on you</em> -- comes to an ironic end on April Fools' Day with the release of de-authorization tools for each of its 19 PC games with SecuROM copy protection (full list and download links after the break). If you've been working on that class action lawsuit against EA for bundling <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/securom/">SecuROM</a> with <em>The Sims 2: IKEA Home Stuff,</em> you can drop it now -- your flat-pack furniture can <em>finally</em> be moved to a new machine.<br />
<br />
In the spirit of generosity, EA's <a href="http://activate.ea.com/deauthorize/">giving</a> you <em>two</em> options for managing your authorizations:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Option 1: <a href="http://www.bigdownload.com/games/ea-deauthorization-management-tool/pc/ea-de-authorization-management-tool/">Download</a> and install yet another "tool" in order to scan your computer for EA's SecuROM games and find out how many computer authorizations you have (or don't have) left for each title.</li>
    <li>Option 2: Cut to the chase and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/01/gitcha-securom-de-authorization-tools-gitem-ova-hur/#continued">download</a> the game-specific de-authorization tool you need.</li>

<em>Crysis</em> and <em>Crysis Warhead</em> are now both <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/987/">available</a> on Valve's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/steam">Steam</a> digital distribution service for $40 and $30, respectively. <em>Warhead</em> will be available tomorrow outside North America. <br /><br />Of course, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/crysis">Crysis</a></em> is now the stuff of PC legend for being "that game," which will take your two-year-old PC and teach it <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/crysis-pc-requirements-a-new-pc/">the meaning of pain</a>. <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/crysis-warhead">Crysis Warhead</a></em> is its "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/crysis-warhead-wont-make-your-pc-cry/">less demanding</a>" little brother who just wants to play. Remember, you can always try the <a href="http://www.bigdownload.com/downloads/?query=crysis&amp;invocationType=hdbigdownload"><em>Crysis</em> Demo</a> to see how your PC will cope.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/crysis-warhead-crysis-available-on-steam/">Crysis Warhead, Crysis available on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 17:30:00 EST. Hoping to disprove the notion that everything with the word "Crysis" on it requires the latest, greatest supercomputer - and several ounces of irradiated uranium - to run with a framerate in the double digits, EA has teamed up with UltraPC to sell what it's (unofficially?) calling the "Warhead PC" - a single SKU offering that brings some of console gaming's simplicity to the PC gaming world.<br /><br />In short, the team at Crytek wanted <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Crysis-Warhead/">Crysis Warhead</a></em> to run on far more systems than <em>Crysis</em> did, so they built their own lower-end "Warhead PC" which they used to test the game on throughout its development. Dropping frames on the Warhead PC? Tweak it until it runs smooth as butter. With a "hard cap" to aim for, the developers were able to guarantee a minimum level of performance using the following specs: an Intel Core Duo e7300 running 2.66GHz, an Nvidia 9800GT video card, and 2 gigglebytes of RAM.<br /><br />The Warhead PC will be available to preorder on September 16 - the game's launch day - for $699, a <em>far cry </em>from the hundreds of bajillions we had saved up for a <em>Crysis</em> rig of our own. We'll spend the rest of that money on tricking out the rather bland box - seen above - with enough blue LEDs to burn our retinas. Ahh, PC gaming ...<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/09/08/more-details-on-crysis-warhead-gaming-pc/">Big Download</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/crysis-warhead-on-the-cheap-eas-warhead-pc-priced-at-699/">Crysis Warhead on the cheap: EA's 'Warhead PC' priced at $699</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 18:20:00 EST. Are you still consoling your PC every night, saying its inability to play <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/crysis"><span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis</span></a> is okay? All the while, you know you're lying to both yourself and your poor rig, just wishing you could sneak out and buy a better machine and feel the sweet embrace of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/metareview-crysis-pc/">Crytek's excellent game</a>. Well, there's no need to tell the PC you're "just going for a jog" anymore. <br /><br />The supposedly less hardware-intensive <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/crysis-warhead"><span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis Warhead</span></a> is ready to show you what it's made of and will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/crysis-warhead-wont-make-your-pc-cry/">supposedly run quite well on a &euro;600 rig</a>. It may not be as stunning as <em>Crysis</em>, but it won't require a second job to keep happy either. Check out the first screens below and a new trailer after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crysis-warhead/">Crysis Warhead</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crysis-warhead/#895519"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/crysis-warhead-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crysis-warhead/#895518"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/crysis-warhead-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crysis-warhead/#895517"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/crysis-warhead-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/01/crysis-warhead-preps-for-battle-with-debut-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Crysis Warhead preps for battle with debut trailer, screenshots</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/01/crysis-warhead-preps-for-battle-with-debut-trailer/">Crysis Warhead preps for battle with debut trailer, screenshots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Jul 2008 17:25:00 EST. It's always a little ... awkward explaining to guests that the "modern art" in our living rooms are actually PCs melted by playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis"><em>Crysis</em></a> on its highest settings. Thankfully, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crytek">Crytek</a> has heard our whimpering and is working to make <em>Cysis: Warhead</em> play more nicely with mid-range gaming rigs.<br /><br /><a href="http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/39412/Crysis-Warhead-Includes-Significant-Performance-Optimisations">Voodoo Extreme</a> was kind enough to translate an article on German gaming site <a href="http://www.pcgames.de/aid,648083/News/Ego-Shooter/Crysis_Warhead_laeuft_auf_einem_400-Euro-PC_-_In_der_High-Konfiguration/">PCGamers.de</a> which states that the PC-exclusive <em>Crysis</em> folllow-up is being designed to run at a locked 30fps on a roughly $600 system. Now, compare that to the original game, which was sluggish even on a PC costing three times that much and ... you have happier PC gamers. If Crytek's programmers can actually pull off such a formidable feat, we sense a stalling in the PC upgrade market come the game's release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/crysis-warhead-wont-make-your-pc-cry/">Crysis Warhead won't make your PC cry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jun 2008 03:15:00 EST. We'll be honest: when we read about the recently announced PC-exclusive <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/crysis-warhead-dropping-exclusively-on-pc-this-fall/">Crysis Warhead</a></em>, we were a bit confused. Didn't Crytek pres Cevat Yerli just say, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/30/crytek-turns-back-on-pc-exclusivity-cites-piracy/">I believe we won't have PC exclusives as we did with <em>Crysis </em>in future</a>"? If that was his belief a whopping thirty-six days before announcing a major, AAA PC-exclusive like <em>Warhead</em>, we'd second guess arguing politics with the man, if we were you.<br /><br />But lo, what's this? Here comes Crytek's Harald Seeley to explain that Yerli "was referring to any new projects [Crytek] will start in the future" and that "all new franchises [they] develop in the future will be created with a cross platform strategy in mind." Speaking of that cross platform strategy, Crytek's engine wizards have been busy squeezing the ship-sized CryENGINE 2 into a console-sized bottle and their efforts thus far have made the engine "even more scaleable" - an accomplishment that should be on display in <em>Warhead</em>. We'll see how they did when we try to run <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Crysis-Warhead/">Crysis Warhead</a></em> on our trusty 486 this fall. Scale that!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/crytek-no-more-pc-exclusives-after-this-one-last-pc-exclusi/">Crytek: No more PC exclusives ... after this one last PC exclusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 11:08:00 EST. <span style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 7px;"> <script> var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/pc_games/Crysis_Warhead_coming_to_PC_this_Fall'; </script> <script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script></span>EA and Crytek have officially announced the development of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis-warhead"><em>Crysis Warhead</em></a>, "a parallel story" to hardware-taxing tropical shooter, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis">Crysis</a>. Built by Crytek's Budapest studio atop an optimized version of the CryEngine 2 technology, <em>Crysis Warhead</em> sees players squeezing into the nanosuit of Sergeant Sykes, affectionately dubbed "Psycho," and learning that "life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined." Given all the eyeball-melting events in <em>Crysis</em>, we reckon they're capable of imagining <em>quite a bit</em>.<br /><br />Crytek president and CEO, Cevat Yerli, found the original game's reception by gamers and the media to be quite pleasing, but noted to the studio's intention to raise the ol' bar. "With Warhead, we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis," he said. Expect more weapons, more vehicles and more multiplayer content when <em>Crysis Warhead</em> nukes lesser computers this Fall.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/crysis-warhead-dropping-exclusively-on-pc-this-fall/">Crysis Warhead dropping exclusively on PC this Fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jun 2008 09:27:00 EST. <div align="left"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis/"><em>Crysis</em></a> developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crytek/">Crytek</a> just placed the<em> mysterious image</em> you see above on the <a href="http://www.crysis-thegame.com">splash page for its site</a>. Could "<em>Crysis Warhead</em>" be the "good reason" for not continuing work on the original <em>Crysis</em> the developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/crytek-turns-back-on-crysis-updates/">recently hinted at</a>? They <em>did</em> say we'd know more "very, very soon."<br /> <br /> Sequel? Title of the console port? Actual military weapon utilizing a PC powerful enough to run <em>Crysis</em> at max settings? We just <em>love</em> mysteries.<br /><br />[Thanks, Matt]</div>
