Marvelous USA (formerly Xseed) <a href="http://www.xseedgames.com/news.php?id=184">announced</a> that it has secured the North American publishing rights for Game Arts' PlayStation 3 and PS Vita action-RPG <i>Ragnarok Odyssey Ace</i>. A European release is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/08/updated-ace-version-of-ragnarok-odyssey-coming-west/">also in the works</a>, courtesy of Japanese publisher GungHo.<br />
<br />
An expanded version of last year's PS Vita release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ragnarok-odyssey"><i>Ragnarok Odyssey</i></a>, <i>Ace</i> boasts numerous gameplay additions and includes all of the original game's DLC. <em>Ace</em> additionally supports cross-platform play, giving PS3 and PS Vita players the ability to party up and quest for loot together.<br />
<br />
<i>Ragnarok Odyssey Ace</i> will launch this winter in North America and Europe. Marvelous USA plans to show off the PS Vita version at <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/e3-2013">E3</a> in June.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/25/ragnarok-odyssey-ace-journeys-to-north-america-europe-this-wint/">Ragnarok Odyssey Ace journeys to North America, Europe this winter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 May 2013 03:30:00 EST. Virtua Fighter's Jacky Bryant will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-adds-ein-virtua-fighters-jacky-bryant/">join his sister</a> Sarah in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-confirmed-for-xbox-360-ps3-this-fall/"><em>Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</em></a> and, in a new trailer and set of screens, the pair team up in a tag match. We get a good glimpse at some of the spiky-haired brawler's move set, alongside <em>Ultimate</em>'s other new cast member, Ein.<br />

<em>Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</em> is an upcoming retail and digital re-release on Xbox 360 and PS3 of last year's Team Ninja fighter, <em>Dead or Alive 5</em>. Ultimate includes modes and content from the PS Vita port <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-or-alive-5-plus">Dead or Alive 5 Plus</a></em>, like additional stages - some themed around <em>Ninja Gaiden</em> - and, of course, extra characters.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/">Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (5/24/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907530"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot01jackyenter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907531"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot02jackywin_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907532"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot03jacky-vs-christie_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907533"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot04jacky-vs-christie_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-5-24-13/#5907534"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/doa5ugroupbscreenshot05jackysarah-vs-rig_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/25/see-ein-and-jacky-throw-down-in-dead-or-alive-5-ultimate/">See Ein and Jacky throw down in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/18/fight-night-team-developing-ea-sports-ufc/">EA Canada focused</a> on EA's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ea-sports-ufc">upcoming UFC game</a>, the Fight Night franchise has been put on hold at EA Sports.<br />
<br />
"Right now, a great portion of the core of the Fight Night team are actually the team that are building UFC," EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson told <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/23/ea-sports-ufc-halts-fight-night-development">IGN</a>. "Do I see a future for Fight Night? You know, sure. But right now, UFC is where our fighting focus is."<br />
<br />
2011's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fight-night-champion">Fight Night Champion</a></em> was the latest game in EA's boxing franchise, introducing a new "Full-Spectrum" punch control system and a Hollywood-inspired campaign following fictitious convict boxer's struggle to overcome adversity and many, many punches to the face. The series was born from the ashes of EA's previous boxing series, Knockout Kings, in 2004.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/fight-night-franchise-on-hold-as-ea-canada-focuses-on-ufc/">Fight Night franchise on hold as EA Canada focuses on UFC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 19:40:00 EST. It's pretty rare for a game series to get as many chances as Call of Juarez has. After a middling debut, the series drummed up lots of critical goodwill with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/review-call-of-juarez-bound-in-blood-single-player/"><em>Bound in Blood</em></a>, and then absolutely threw it all away with the awful <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/call-of-juarez-the-cartel-review/"><em>The Cartel</em></a>. Now, Techland has ventured back to the Wild West with <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-juarez-gunslinger"><em>Call of Juarez: Gunslinger</em></a>, and the developer's got something to prove.<br />
<br />
Perhaps seeking to distance itself from <em>The Cartel</em>, <em>Gunslinger</em> is a different beast in almost every way, and it works. The most immediately obvious difference is the art style. Instead of the mostly realistic style of past Juarez games, <em>Gunslinger</em> opts for a more stylized and bombastic look. It's as if the developers threw anime, Mad Max, and The Good the Bad and the Ugly and Borderlands into a blender. That might sound weird, but it's a refreshing and enjoyable change.<br />
<br />
<em>Gunslinger</em> also has very little in common with its predecessors when it comes to story. The only real connection is a collectible with a short biography of Ray McCall, one of the protagonists from the first two games. This time around, <em>Gunslinger</em> puts players into the dusty spurs of bounty hunter Silas Greaves.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/">Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (4/22/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/#5831122"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/20130422cojgscreenconcentrationmode_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/#5831123"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/20130422cojgscreenduel_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/#5831124"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/20130422cojgscreengatlinggun_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/#5831125"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/20130422cojgscreensenseofdeath_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-4-22-13/#5831126"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/04/20130422cojgscreentrailrobbery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Call of Juarez: Gunslinger review: Back in the saddle</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/call-of-juarez-gunslinger-review/">Call of Juarez: Gunslinger review: Back in the saddle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 19:10:00 EST. You might be thinking that some countries use commas instead of decimal points, but the headline above does indeed say one hundred and twenty-five <em>thousand</em> British Pounds ($188,700). You might also think that's awfully expensive for the special edition of a racing game (any game, really), but allow us to put things in perspective. The <em>GRID 2 BAC Mono Edition</em> isn't so much a special edition of a game as it is a luxury sports car that happens to come with a game.<br />
<br />
Specifically, the BAC Mono Edition comes with the Mono, essentially a street legal formula racing car. Also included is a racing suit and helmet, a copy of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/grid-2"><em>GRID 2</em></a> and a PlayStation 3 on which to play it. According to <a href="http://us.bac-mono.com/config.php">BAC's website</a>, a Mono with no frills has a base price of &pound;96,495 ($145,919), and that's before throwing in VAT. Only one copy of the BAC Mono Edition is being manufactured, making it something a collector's item. You can <a href="http://www.game.co.uk/en/grid-2-bac-mono-edition-228776">place your pre-order</a> exclusively with GAME. Oh, and shipping is free.<br />
<br />
Not to be left out, Best Buy is hosting a <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/GRID+2+-+PlayStation+3/6775277.p?id=1218806579805&amp;skuId=6775277&amp;st=grid%202&amp;lp=2&amp;cp=1">special edition of <em>GRID 2</em></a> in North America. It includes the IndyCar DLC pack and retails for $59.99.<br />

Your patience has paid off. Today, Capcom has issued the full <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom-arcade-cabinet/"><em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em></a> collection - a cheaper bundle of all 17 games previously issued in piecemeal packs and as individual downloads. The all-in-one pack is available starting today for 2,000 MS Points ($30), a saving of $15 over purchasing all five game packs.<br />
<br />
<em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em> highlights games from the publisher's catalog spanning the years between 1984 and 1988. The full list of 17 games within the <em>Capcom Arcade Cabinet</em> are <em>Black Tiger, Avengers, 1943, The Battle of Midway, Ghosts n Goblins, Gun Smoke, Section Z, Side Arms, Legendary Wings, Trojan, Commando, The Speed Rumbler, Exed Exes (Savage Bees), 1942, SonSon </em>and<em> Pirate Ship Higemaru</em>. There are also two secret games: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/16/capcom-arcade-cabinet-secret-games-are-1943-kai-and-vulgus/"><em>1943 Kai</em> and <em>Vulgus</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/psa-capcom-arcade-cabinet-all-in-one-available-now/">PSA: Capcom Arcade Cabinet all-in-one available now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. A new PS4 ad in Europe provides further indication the continent can expect the console to arrive there this year. While Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/playstation-4/">announced</a> the PS4 was due "Holiday 2013" back at February's reveal event, the company <a href="http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/interviews/a460945/ps4-interview-sony-uk-boss-talks-streaming-hardware-and-uk-launch.htmlhttp://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/interviews/a460945/ps4-interview-sony-uk-boss-talks-streaming-hardware-and-uk-launch.html">declined to commit</a> to which regions that window applied to. However, a new PS4 ad, first <a href="http://ncloud.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/uk-metro-newspaper-ps4-coming-2013.html">spotted</a> in today's Metro newspaper in the UK, then later <a href="https://twitter.com/PlayStationEU/status/337908409984749568">tweeted</a> by PlayStation Europe, says the PS4 is "Coming 2013."<br />
<br />
Europeans have good reason to be cautious about a tentative window. The PS3 reached the continent in March 2007, having arrived in North America and Japan some four months prior - and that was via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/06/european-launch-of-playstation-3-delayed-until-march-2007/">a last-minute delay</a>, too.<br />
<br />
When asked if this confirmed the PS4 is coming to Europe this year, a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe representative told us, "We announced at the PlayStation Meeting event on February 20 that [the] PS4 would be coming in 2013... the adverts are simply re-stating that message."<br />
<br />
"More information about [the] PS4 and all PlayStation platforms will be announced at E3," he added.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/playstation-europe-ps4-ad-says-coming-2013/">PlayStation Europe PS4 ad says 'Coming 2013'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 09:30:00 EST. The biggest eyebrow-raiser with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/gran-turismo-6-officially-announced/">last week's <em>Gran Turismo 6</em> reveal</a> was that it's launching on the PS3, and not the PS4. Doesn't Sony want to drive PS4 launch sales with one of its biggest franchises?<br />
<br />
In an interview on the <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/05/23/gran-turismo-6-kazunori-yamauchi-and-jim-ryan-on-15-years-of-gt/">PlayStation Blog</a>, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Jim Ryan explained why the latest Gran Turismo isn't debuting on the soon-to-be latest PlayStation, arguing that <em>GT6</em> can still deliver a significant difference from <em>GT5</em>, despite being on the same platform.<br />
<br />
"You had <em>GT1</em> and <em>GT2</em> on PS one," Ryan said, "<em>GT3</em> and <em>GT4</em> on PS2, then there's <em>GT5</em> on PS3 and a space next to it. The difference between <em>Gran Turismo</em> and <em>GT2</em> is unbelievable, but they're both on the same platform. The difference between <em>GT3</em> and <em>GT4</em> is huge. We're absolutely confident when GT6 comes, you'll see a big step change up from <em>GT5</em> too. There's still a lot of potential on PS3 that a developer like Polyphony can really exploit."<br />
<br />
The other, obvious factor is the install base. Gran Turismo has traditionally been a big seller, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/07/gran-turismo-now-cruising-at-67-8-million-series-sales-gt5-over/">three entries shifting over 10 million units</a>. To do that, Ryan indicates, you need to have the install base.<br />
<br />
"And the other factor is that on PS3 we have an install base of 70 million units," Ryan added. "On PS4 on launch day we'll have an install base of zero units. There'll be plenty of games to help drive PS4 - not least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/driveclub"><em>Driveclub</em></a> in the racing genre from Evolution Studios, a studio with a fantastic pedigree."<br />
<br />
A PS4 version of <em>GT6</em> looks more than likely at some point down the line, and it's something that hasn't been shied away from. Speaking to <a href="http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/05/15/gran-turismo-6-in-mind-for-ps4">IGN</a>, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said, "We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/sony-explains-why-gran-turismo-6-is-launching-on-ps3-not-ps4/">Sony explains why Gran Turismo 6 is launching on PS3, not PS4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 08:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/class-of-heroes-2"><em>Class of Heroes 2</em></a>, MonkeyPaw's PSP game from 2009, is finally coming to North America on June 4. PSN users can snag the fully localized JRPG dungeon crawler - which is playable on both PSP and PS Vita - for $25 from the PSN store.<br />
<br />
The effort to localize <em>Class of Heroes 2</em> began in 2012 with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/28/monkeypaw-and-gaijinworks-kickstart-a-class-of-heroes-2-localiza/">a Kickstarter campaign</a> seeking $500,000 in funding. Ultimately, only $96,951 was raised, though MonkeyPaw CEO John Greiner wasn't too down in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/25/monkeypaw-on-the-educational-upside-of-class-of-heroes-2-kicksta/">a follow-up interview with Joystiq</a>.<br />
<br />
Greiner said that even though the Kickstarter campaign failed, "we were able to educate people about the game and its features. That will help immensely when we release the digital version."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/class-of-heroes-2-in-session-on-psn-june-4/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Class of Heroes 2 available on PSN June 4</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/class-of-heroes-2-in-session-on-psn-june-4/">Class of Heroes 2 available on PSN June 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. Speaking at the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference in New York this week, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that EA plans to publish games on the current generation of consoles through 2017 at least. <br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://uk.gamespot.com/news/ea-teases-new-star-wars-battlefront-game-6408642">Gamespo</a>t's report, Jorgenson also discussed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/06/ea-disney-exclusive-rights-star-wars/">EA's exclusive <em>Star Wars</em> deal</a> and specifically referenced fan favorite <em>Star Wars: Battlefront</em>. "The opportunity to do a new <em>Battlefront</em>, for example," Jorgensen said, "is very exciting." He added that none of EA's planned <em>Star Wars</em> games are film adaptations "per se," though their releases may coincide with upcoming movies.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/ea-expects-to-publish-for-current-systems-through-2017/">EA expects to publish for current systems through 2017</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 22:00:00 EST. Since announcing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witness"><em>The Witness</em></a> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/jonathan-blow-bears-witness-to-getting-an-indie-pc-game-on-ps4/">on its way to Sony's PS4</a>, Jonathan Blow and his development team have remained mostly mum about development. The game is still coming along, with Blow refining all of the details before the game launches, he explains on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/23/the-witness-on-ps4-conversations-with-creators/">PlayStation Blog</a> in a video and a written post.<br />
<br />
Video-Blow says <em>The Witness</em> is a true, financially independent game: His studio has the freedom to not make a profit, since it's not beholden to a publisher and doesn't "need" to. This shifts his team's goals from money to quality, he says.<br />
<br />
"I would definitely like to make our money back on this game and I would like to make a profit on it, but it's not actually the No. 1 priority," Blow says. "The No. 1 priority is to make the best possible game that we can make, that brings the most beneficial experience to the players."<br />
<br />
<em>The Witness</em> is an open-world, non-linear puzzle game that is as deep as the player wants it to be, as Blow describes it. It has no release date yet, but it's in development for PC and PS4, with the latter as a timed console exclusive.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/the-witness-shares-some-gameplay-secrets-in-developer-video-pos/">The Witness shares some gameplay secrets in developer video, post</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 19:30:00 EST. Gamestop's financial data for the first quarter of its fiscal 2013 have arrived like a pizza with nearly 25 percent fewer toppings than the pizza you ordered during the same 13-week period last year. Also, cheesy bread sales are way up? This may not be the strongest analogy.<br />
<br />
In non-allegorical terms, gross revenue (overall sales) and net income (post-tax profit) were both down year-over-year, at $1.865 billion and $54.6 million, respectively. As far as net income, that's a 24.69 percent decrease from the $72.5 million Gamestop reported at the end of Q1 2012.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, mobile device sales were up 290 percent, though this massive increase was largely due to the fact that Gamestop's mobile trade-in/sales program was just getting started during Q1 of 2012. Digital sales also increased, to the tune of 47.3 percent year-over-year, while new software sales, both physical and digital, fell 3.8 percent.<br />
<br />
As was the case during Q1 2012, used hardware and software sales accounted for the majority of Gamestop's pre-tax profit, with <em>new</em> hardware and software sales making up just 29.5 percent of the quarter's overall gross.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/gamestop-q1-sales-and-profits-down-mobile-digital-sales-up/">Gamestop Q1 sales and profits down, mobile/digital sales up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 19:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/payday-2"><em>Payday 2</em></a>, the Overkill-developed crook sim, is set to launch in August. The news comes at the end of the trailer above, which teases a new web series set to start in two weeks.<br />
<br />
We have yet to see any actual <em>Payday 2</em> gameplay beyond <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/13/payday-2-trailer-and-the-importance-of-cutting-eyeholes-in-your/">a brief teaser</a> issued in March, but feel free to case our gallery of in-game shots below. <em>Payday 2</em> - which adds classes and a contracts database on top of its predecessor's core robbery mechanics - is planning its heist on Steam, PS3 and Xbox 360. Pre-orders are <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/10675/">open on Steam</a> right now and all who sign up early will get an in-game loot pack. <span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/">Payday 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksferrymanclean_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903722"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksredlight_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903723"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-docksunstoppable_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903724"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-jewelrystoreheistclean_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/payday-2/#5903725"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/payday2-jewelrystoreshootout_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/payday-2-planning-an-august-heist-web-series-starts-in-two-week/">Payday 2 planning an August heist, web series starts in two weeks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 17:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-warriors"><em>The Warriors</em></a>, Rockstar's 2005 game based on the 1979 cult movie, is <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/22/the-warriors-coming-next-week-to-psn/">coming to PSN next week</a>. As per typical PS Store updates, it arrives in North America on May 28 for $9.99, and then in Europe the day after for &pound;7.99/&euro;9.99.<br />
<br />
Rockstar Toronto reportedly worked on a spiritual successor to <em>The Warriors</em>,<em> </em>an Xbox 360 game called <em>We Are The Mods</em>. According to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/297658/rockstars-secret-xbox-360-game-unmasked/">CVG</a>, it was similar in style to The Warriors' urban brawling, but set in mid-1960s England, during the Mods and Rockers era.<br />
<br />
Since that never came to fruition, the closest you're going to get to a current-gen Warriors game, outside of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/24/the-rogues-come-out-to-play-in-this-the-warriors-street-brawl-t/">CTXM's <em>The Warriors: Street Brawl</em></a>, is next week's re-release. Like all PS2 Classics on PSN, it's only playable on PS3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/the-warriors-rages-onto-psn-next-week-as-ps2-classic/">The Warriors rages onto PSN next week as PS2 Classic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 16:30:00 EST. Housemarque's twin-stick shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-stardust-hd"><i>Super Stardust HD</i></a> launched as a downloadable title during the PlayStation 3's first year of release. The company followed up with the PS3-exclusive zombie shooter <i>Dead Nation</i> and the multiplatform <i>Outland</i>, and made its PS Vita debut last year with <em>Super Stardust Delta</em>.<br />
<br />
"We truly believe that better technology can lead to better gameplay," Housemarque's CEO Ilari Kuittinen explains. "The more tools and resources we have at our disposal, the better."<br />
<br />
Kuittinen continues: "Think of <i>Super Stardust HD</i>: at the time, PlayStation 3 gave us the opportunity to populate the game with thousands of interactive objects and implement the game's famous 'spherical gameplay'. Today, we can take advantage of the architecture of PlayStation 4 to create incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels."<br />
<br />
Housemarque additionally revealed that it is working on "another unannounced PS4 project." The company will announce further details regarding both games later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/super-stardust-spiritual-successor-coming-to-playstation-4/">Super Stardust 'spiritual successor' coming to PlayStation 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 15:00:00 EST. Sony executives are considering splitting the company's entertainment and electronics divisions, following billionaire Daniel Loeb's proposed initial public offering of its entertainment business. The entertainment arm includes all PlayStation properties, alongside Sony's film and music businesses.<br />
<br />
Loeb, with Third Point LLC, owns a 6 percent stake in Sony worth $1.1 billion, and is Sony's biggest investor. Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai confirmed that the top brass is considering Loeb's offer, but didn't say when it would come to a decision, <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2013-05-22/sony-directors-discuss-loeb-s-proposal-for-entertainment-ipo-2">Bloomberg</a> reports.<br />
<br />
"It's only a start," Hirai said. "It's important that the board will discuss this and come to a decision that represents Sony's stance." Following Loeb's offer yesterday, Sony stock surged 9 percent.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/sony-considers-splitting-the-company-after-proposed-ipo/">Sony considers splitting the company after proposed IPO</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 14:30:00 EST. You know Nintendo Direct - now meet Square Enix Presents. That's the name of the company's live-at-E3 video series, which it'll be broadcasting via YouTube.<br />
<br />
Square Enix Presents promises coverage on the company's E3 line-up, which is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/square-enix-developing-new-final-fantasy-for-ps4-first-taste-at/">expected</a> to include the new Final Fantasy for PS4. It'll also feature dev interviews, game demos, and presentations on upcoming content. And, apparently, lots of chocobo music.<br />
<br />
The shows will run across all three main days of the conference, which are June 11-13.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/square-enix-announces-live-e3-video-shows/">Square Enix announces 'live' E3 video shows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 14:00:00 EST. Square Enix America CEO Mike Fischer left the company this month and is now vice president of digital music and video for Amazon in Japan, Polygon <a href="http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/23/4358542/president-of-square-enix-of-america-leaves-company">reports</a>. This follows news in April that Square Enix America eliminated "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/03/square-enix-los-angeles-layoff-details-ceo-rumored-to-be-out-by/">a number of positions</a>" and Fischer was expected to leave in May. Those same reports said the head of marketing should be gone after E3, along with other employees in public relations.<br />
<br />
In March, Square Enix President <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-president-wada-to-step-down-106m-restructuring-l/">Yoichi Wada</a> stepped down and the company announced widespread restructuring that it expected to cost $106 million. Square Enix posted a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/square-enix-posts-134m-fiscal-net-loss-projects-profit-for-com/">net loss of $134 million</a> for fiscal year 2013, citing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-weak-sales-tomb-raider-hitman-absolution/">"weak" sales</a> of major console games, including <em>Sleeping Dogs</em>, <em>Hitman: Absolution</em> and <em>Tomb Raider</em>, the last of which sold 3.4 million in its first month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/report-square-enix-america-ceo-leaves-joins-amazon/">Report: Square Enix America CEO leaves, joins Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 13:30:00 EST. <br />
A new trailer for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Destiny/">Destiny</a></em><em> </em>brings Bungie's new world into the live-action realm - with plenty of CG and story time with <em>Breaking Bad</em>'s <a href="http://breakingbad.wikia.com/wiki/Gustavo_Fring">infamous villain</a>. In the video, we learn about the law of the land in the upcoming, online-focused shooter, thanks to a passage from Rudyard Kipling's <em>The Second Jungle Book.</em><br />
<br />
Earlier this morning, Bungie sent Joystiq a copy of the classic story, featuring a highlighted passage detailing "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Law_of_the_Jungle">The Law of the Jungle</a>" and a note promising to see us at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/E3-2013/">E3 2013</a>. The video promises a "worldwide gameplay reveal" during Sony's E3 2013 press conference on June 10, 2013.<br />
<br />
The passage from the book - as spoken in the trailer - reads: "Now this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky, And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack." A fitting passage, considering <em>Destiny</em>'s focus as an "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/17/bungie-reveals-destiny-an-always-on-persistent-world-adventu/">always-on, persistent world adventure</a>."<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://variety.com/2013/digital/games/first-look-the-live-action-trailer-for-bungies-destiny-exclusive-1200486874/">Variety</a>, the ad - starring Giancarlo Esposito - was directed by Jon Favreau and produced by the ad shop 72 and Sunny, with visual effects from Digital Domain. Esposito and Favreau had previously worked together on the pilot of NBC's <em>Revolution</em>, which stars the standout boss figure from <em>Breaking Bad</em>. The ad will also be broadcast during Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals on May 25.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/epic-mickey-2"><em>Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two</em></a> charges onto Vita in a few weeks time. SCE America announced a release date of June 18 this morning. The Vita port of the co-op game is also confirmed for Europe, although that remains undated for now.<br />
<br />
SCE America says the Vita version, being handled by Blitz Game Studios, features ad hoc network support. Lots of the additions center on the touchscreen, including being able to control paint, thinner, and the electric beam of Oswald (the one that's not Mickey). The touchscreen can also be used to command AI and navigate the user interface, among a number of other actions.<br />
<br />
Disney <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/29/disney-closes-junction-point/">closed</a> original developer Junction Point earlier this year. The game sold 529,000 units in the US across November and December 2012, having launched for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Wii on November 18. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/epic-mickey-2-vita/">Epic Mickey 2 (Vita)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/epic-mickey-2-vita/#5903559"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/epicmickey2-vita-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/epic-mickey-2-vita/#5903560"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/epicmickey2-vita-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/epic-mickey-2-vita/#5903561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/epicmickey2-vita-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/epic-mickey-2-mouses-around-on-vita-june-18/">Epic Mickey 2 mouses around on Vita June 18</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 12:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Need-for-Speed-Rivals/">Need for Speed Rivals</a></em> - the franchise's first turn into the new world of next-gen consoles - is also coming to the PC. In crafting the PC version, Ghost Games executive producer Marcus Nilsson promises "<em>Need for Speed Rivals</em> will look easily as good on PC as next-generation consoles."<br />
<br />
The original press release for <em>Need for Speed Rivals</em> made no mention of a PC version; however, the PR has since been amended revealing the PC version will arrive on November 19 alongside the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Xbox One and PS4 versions will launch "later this year."<br />
<br />
Other than differences in graphical fidelity and online player count, <em>Rivals</em> features differences in its new marquee feature "AllDrive" across current- and next-gen systems. AllDrive is the ability for the game to "seamlessly" adapt to player interaction as they cross paths in the open-world space. On next-gen consoles, players will have unspecified exclusive ways to interact with the game using other devices.<br />
<br />
Nilsson would not detail if the PC version's feature-set would be based on the current- or next-gen platform versions.<br />
<br />
Expanding on how AllDrive would work, Nilsson offered an example of how the game would react to friends in the same world engaged in separate chases that come across each other. With the new feature, <em>Need for Speed Rivals</em> would recognize player proximity and any current missions and automatically shift objectives and scoring to that of a traditional co-op encounter. Players can enter and exit each other's worlds to race and interact "on-the-fly." The core features of AllDrive will be available on all platforms.<br />

Recently renamed developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghost-Games/">Ghost Games</a> and the fellow racing fanatics at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Criterion/">Criterion Games</a> have banded together for <em>Need for Speed Rivals</em>: a new game that represents the franchise's first drift into the next-gen console world (which is not to be confused with the <a href="http://nfs.wikia.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Underground_Rivals">2005 handheld spinoff</a>).<br />
<br />
Powered by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Frostbite-3/">Frostbite 3</a>, <em>Rivals </em>aims to utilize the power of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to give players "the freedom to seamlessly go from single player to co-op to multiplayer" when it releases "later this year." [<strong>Update: </strong>This story has been updated for accuracy, removing mention of a release window for the next-gen versions from an outdated release draft.]<br />
<br />
<em>Need for Speed Rivals</em> transports players to the fictitious Redview County, an open-world environment where players can take on the role as either street racer or police officer. Like <em>Most Wanted</em> before it, racers aim to become the most infamous person behind the wheel, while cops attempt to work together to drive the area's high-risk inhabitants off the road. Players can personalize the experience with custom license plates, paint, liveries decals and rims, and performance upgrades.<br />
<br />
Current-generation consoles will also join the rivalry - powered by its own version of Frostbite 3 - on November 19. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/need-for-speed-rivals-coming-to-pc-looks-easily-as-good-as-next-gen/">A PC version is also in the works</a>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/">Need for Speed: Rivals</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/#5903731"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/need-for-speed-rivalsaston-martin-vanquish-1369320759_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/#5903732"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/need-for-speed-rivalsferrari-f12berlinetta1-1369320759_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/#5903733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/need-for-speed-rivalsferrarif12berlinetta2-1369320760_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/#5903734"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/need-for-speed-rivalsferrarif12berlinetta3-1369320760_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/need-for-speed-rivals/#5903736"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/need-for-speed-rivalskoenigsegg-cop-car-1369320761_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/need-for-speed-rivals-speeds-to-xbox-one-ps4-and-current-gen-this-november/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Need for Speed Rivals floors it to Xbox One, PS4 'later this year', PC and current-gen consoles Nov. 19</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/need-for-speed-rivals-speeds-to-xbox-one-ps4-and-current-gen-this-november/">Need for Speed Rivals floors it to Xbox One, PS4 'later this year', PC and current-gen consoles Nov. 19</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 10:00:00 EST. Techland is keeping its zombie vendetta going in <em>Dying Light</em>, a new first-person action game coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2014, care of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.<br />
<br />
The ruined-world game hinges on a realistic day/night cycle, as well as the agility and Parkour skills of the protagonist turned traceur. Day is pitched as a preparation phase, in which you scavenge a warmly lit urban wasteland for supplies and craft weapons to fend off undead walkers. The night requires a stealthier approach, if not a swift homeward retreat from deadlier monsters.<br />
<br />
Combat in <em>Dying Light</em> appears to be largely based on upgradeable melee weaponry (eg. an electrified machete), with bone-breaking blows triggering an x-ray visual effect. Zombies can also be pushed into spiked walls with a jump-kick to the chest.<br />
<br />
The frequency of fighting drops once night arrives and faster, more powerful creatures emerge. These can be detected via an on-screen pulse - one of the abilities you have by virtue of being an infected human yourself. When the monsters of the night do give chase, the camera can quickly flip 180 degrees to show their proximity, even while you dash and vault in the opposite direction. Movement certainly appears to be more fluid than in Techland's <em>Dead Island</em>, with which <em>Dying Light</em> shares a theme of smashing zombies in the tropical sun.<br />
<br />
The openness of the environment, overall game structure and the true nature of nightfall, the publisher says, are details left for another day.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/">Dying Light (2013-05-23)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/#5895240"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/finalday01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/#5895241"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/finalevening01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/#5895243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/finalgrab_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/#5895244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/finalhandsup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-light-2013-05-23/#5895245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/finalheadcut_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/dying-light-adds-a-dash-of-parkour-to-techlands-zombie-tour/">Dying Light adds a dash of Parkour to Techland's zombie tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 09:00:00 EST. In formality news, developer Infinity Ward took to <a href="https://twitter.com/InfinityWard/status/337334973684129792">Twitter</a> to confirm <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-ghosts/"><em>Call of Duty: Ghosts</em></a> for the PS4, in addition to the PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. In related news, the death of announcements featuring the phrase "next-generation platforms" is blissfully upon us.<br />
<br />
At the Xbox One event, Activision revealed it's continuing its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/call-of-dutys-xbox-multiplayer-exclusivity-cod-ghosts/">exclusivity agreement with Microsoft on Call of Duty DLC</a>. So, the one missing link regards <em>Ghosts</em> remains the Wii U, which Activision is staying quiet about.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/call-of-duty-ghosts-confirmed-for-ps4/">Call of Duty: Ghosts confirmed for PS4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 May 2013 08:00:00 EST. Forget everything you know about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tearaway"><em>Tearaway</em></a> and focus on this one fact: It has an in-game, rideable pig. This little piggy is only accessible through pre-orders at participating retailers, Media Molecule Community Manager James Spafford writes on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/20/unfolding-tearaways-pre-order-bonuses/">PlayStation Blog</a>.<br />
<br />
Pre-orders in the US get a slew of swine-related and assorted goodies: the Tearaway soundtrack with a bonus song, iota and atoi costumes for LittleBigPlanet, a Vita wallpaper, iota and atoi avatars for use on PSN, and a skin for a rideable pig and matching, real-life printable papercraft.<br />
<br />
These pre-order perks sound suspiciously similar to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/tearaway-breaks-off-two-eu-pre-order-bonuses-soundtrack-or-pig/">those announced for Europe</a>, but those were split into two packs; one with the soundtrack but without the pig, and the other with the pig but no tunes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/tearaway-hogs-all-of-the-pre-order-perks-in-the-us/">Tearaway hogs all of the pre-order perks in the US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 22:30:00 EST. With the next generation of the <em>Call of Duty</em> engine, Activision studios will be able to produce curved objects with realism never before seen in the series. In layman's terms, that means the dogs will look really good - just look at Ghost Dog compared to MW3 Dog. Cheesy-awesome retro news today, as Ubisoft has announced the release of a <em>Blood Dragon</em> asset pack for the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/far-cry-3"><em>Far Cry 3</em></a> map editor. The "Mark IV Style" pack for the editor allows players to create levels with the same neon-drenched visuals as <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/far-cry-3-blood-dragon"><em>Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon</em></a> (pictured).<br />
<br />
The pack is available now for free on <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Far-Cry-3-Map-Editor-Pack-MARK-IV-Style/311ecad0-abf0-4fdb-8324-e1f6817e0268">Xbox 360</a> and <a href="https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/far-cry-3-map-editor-pack-%25E2%2580%2593-mark-iv-style/cid=UP0001-BLUS30687_00-DLCIGE0000000001">PS3</a>. We haven't spotted it on either Steam or Uplay, but we're checking with Ubisoft regarding a PC release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/far-cry-3-map-editor-injected-with-blood-dragon-goodness/">Far Cry 3 map editor injected with Blood Dragon goodness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 18:30:00 EST. A boxed retail collection of PlayStation Network titles will hit store shelves on June 25, bringing four games and a $40 price tag with it. <em>Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1</em>, the first in a series of "Best of" releases according to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/05/22/best-of-playstation-network-vol-1-arrives-this-june/">announcement</a>, includes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/when-vikings-attack"><em>When Vikings Attack</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sound-shapes"><em>Sound Shapes</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tokyo-jungle"><em>Tokyo Jungle</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fat-princess"><em>Fat Princess</em></a>.<br />
<br />
No word on when <em>Vol. 2</em> will follow or what games will be included with it, but for the time being this seems like a pretty legit way to save "nearly $15." Folks interested in internetless PlayStation Networking might also want to check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/journey"><em>Journey</em></a>'s <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Collectors-Edition-Playstation-3/dp/B008CP6RWU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1369242569&amp;sr=8-3&amp;keywords=journey">Collector's Edition</a>, which is also a collection of acclaimed PSN games on physical caveman media for cavemen.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/best-of-playstation-network-vol-1-coming-to-retail-next-month/">Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1 coming to retail next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 18:00:00 EST. <br />
In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-25"><em>Madden 25</em></a>'s Connected Franchise career mode, players can take on the role of team owner and perform a number of new tasks, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/relocate-your-team-in-madden-25s-franchise-owners-mode/">relocating teams to new cities</a>. Madden's Creative Director Mike Young told Joystiq today that the mode is designed to limit the franchise relocation option to 17 different markets. The 17 cities include Brooklyn, London, Dublin, Toronto, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Austin, Columbus, Orlando, Portland, Oklahoma City and Memphis.<br />
<br />
Additionally, some locations with an already-established NFL presence can receive a second team, such as Chicago and Houston. Players will have the option to retain their team name, logo and uniforms when moving or select from three different preset options for each city, including the Brooklyn Beats. The mode also grants players the option to reboot now-defunct teams from the NFL's history, such as the Columbus Panhandles, London Monarchs or the Houston Oilers. Players can opt to turn off the team relocation feature, disabling the option entirely.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metro-last-light"><em>Metro: Last Light</em></a> developer 4A Games is planning to release four different content packs throughout the summer, all bundled together today in a season pass available on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam for 1200 MS Points ($15).<br />
<br />
The Faction and Chronicle packs are the first listed, each aimed at continuing the single-player story of <em>Metro: Last Light. </em>Faction is due first, in June. The Tower pack will be aimed at <em>Metro</em> veterans, offering "a unique solo challenge." Finally, the Developer pack aims to offer some additional tools aiding in exploration. All season pass purchases will also unlock an exclusive semi-automatic shotgun rifle, while each piece of DLC will be available for individual purchase.<br />
<br />
<em>Metro: Last Light</em> launched on May 14, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/metro-last-light-review/">our review</a> placing it in the company of another story-driven shooter, <em>Half-Life</em>. The game was originally set to be published by THQ, but after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thq-bankruptcy/">the studio's fall</a> Deep Silver came in and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/deep-silver-confirms-acquisition-of-saints-row-metro-and-voliti/">acquired the game</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/metro-last-light-puts-season-pass-in-the-spotlight-first-dlc-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Metro: Last Light gets season pass, first DLC in June</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/metro-last-light-puts-season-pass-in-the-spotlight-first-dlc-i/">Metro: Last Light gets season pass, first DLC in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 15:00:00 EST. Joining Ninja Gaiden's Momiji as new characters in <em>Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate</em> are Ein and Jacky Bryant, the latter from the Virtua Fighter series. As revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu (via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2013/05/21/dead-or-alive-5-ultimate-adds-jacky-bryant-from-virtua-fighter/">Siliconera</a> and <a href="http://remoon.blog15.fc2.com/blog-entry-25584.html">Game Jouhou</a>), the spiky-haired racer gels with the other combatants when the PS3 and Xbox 360 game hits Japan on September 5.<br />

Are these the designs for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/xbox-one-game-box-art-appears-on-battlefield-4-site/">Xbox One</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps4">PS4</a> game covers? The images come via the official <em>Battlefield 4</em> site, where they're pictured prominently on a couple of pages. They may just be EA mock-ups - no other companies, including Microsoft and Sony, have released any images - but maybe they are the real deal. We reckon they look <i>elegantly crisp</i>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/xbox-one-game-box-art-appears-on-battlefield-4-site/">Xbox One, PS4 game box art appears on Battlefield 4 site</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 06:00:00 EST. <p>At one point, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/slant-six-games/">Slant Six Games</a> was apparently working on a <em>Medal of Honor</em> game for PS Vita. Some concept art for the game showed up over on an artist's portfolio site, spotted by the <a href="https://twitter.com/supererogatory/status/336573518064001025">@supererogatory</a> Twitter account.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/medal-of-honor-warfighter"><em>Medal of Honor: Warfighter</em></a> was the latest entry in the Medal of Honor series, developed by EA's Danger Close studio. Following that game's poor reception, EA's Peter Moore announced the franchise is now "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/30/ea-medal-of-honor-is-out-of-rotation-following-poor-warfighte/">out of the rotation</a>."</p>

<p>Slant Six Games' last release was the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/20/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-review/">lackluster</a> <em>Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City</em> for Capcom - a spin-off that takes place during the outbreak of Raccoon City, first seen in <em>Resident Evil 2</em>. In April, Slant Six Games issued <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/10/slant-six-games-rolls-out-temporary-layoffs-again/">temporary layoffs</a>, a stopgap measure to help keep interim operating costs down in-between contract work. Slant Six issued similar layoffs in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/09/slant-six-enacts-temporary-layoffs-star-wars-battlefront-onli/">2010</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/12/slant-six-hit-with-layoffs-post-raccoon-city/">after shipping <em>RE: Operation Raccoon City</em> last year</a>.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/rumor-slant-six-worked-on-medal-of-honor-ps-vita-game/">Rumor: Slant Six worked on Medal of Honor PS Vita game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 01:00:00 EST. The Vita and iOS devices are set to receive a new dose of horror courtesy of <a href="http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=189550"><em>Dying: Sinner Escape</em></a>. The game is being made with help from the creator of Saw, according to developer Nekcom Entertainment, though the announcement neglects to name exactly which creator it's referring to. Neither Saw's director, James Wan, nor its screenwriter, Leigh Whannell, are mentioned specifically.<br />
<br />
Regardless, <em>Dying</em> clearly has a Saw vibe. It's story revolves around characters being trapped in foreboding environments, forcing them to solve strange puzzles and try to escape. The game will be released episodically with the first episode, "Last Hour," slated to arrive on May 25.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/">Dying: Sinner Escape</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/#5897596"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/dyingsinnerescape-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/#5897595"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/dyingsinnerescape-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/#5897597"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/dyingsinnerescape-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/#5897598"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/dyingsinnerescape-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dying-sinner-escape/#5897600"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/dyingsinnerescape-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/dying-sinner-escape-absconding-to-vita-ios/">Dying: Sinner Escape absconding to Vita, iOS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 May 2013 23:59:00 EST.
