Rather than stocking Samsung products exclusively, however, 1,600 Gamestops now carry Android tablets from Acer, Asus and Samsung; specifically the Asus Transformer and Transformer Prime, the Acer Iconia (both 7 and 10.1 versions), and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. <br /><br />Each tablet comes pre-loaded with "a hand-picked selection of free games, like <em>Sonic CD</em> and <em>Riptide</em>, the Kongregate Arcade gaming app and a free issue of Game Informer Digital," according to the PR available after the break. Naturally, trade-in credit can be applied towards the purchase of one of these devices. Find out if one of your several dozen local Gamestops is a member of that 1,600-store collective by entering your zip-code <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/events/tablets/">here</a>, and don't forget to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/reviews/#/hardware/tablet_pcs/n2o/">do your research</a> before plopping down several hundred clams on an iPad alternative. <p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/26/android-tablets-now-available-at-1-600-gamestops-include-free-g/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Android tablets now available at 1,600 Gamestops, include free games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/26/android-tablets-now-available-at-1-600-gamestops-include-free-g/">Android tablets now available at 1,600 Gamestops, include free games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 May 2012 12:00:00 EST. The WAVI Xtion device is designed to enable gesture control of media center PCs in living rooms. It's similar to Kinect in a few ways, but focused on the multimedia control features instead of the game stuff.<br />
<br />
There might still be games and other assorted programs: sometime after the Q2 launch, Asus will open an "Xtion Online Store" through which developers can sell apps designed in the Xtion PRO platform. The PRO development technology will be released in February. The WAVI Xtion device itself will be unveiled during CES, which runs from January 6 to 9.<br />
<br />
Update: PrimeSense issued a correction regarding the linked press release. The line "The WAVI Xtion media center for the PC leverages ultra-wide band wireless link and PrimeSense 3D sensing solution to provide controller-free interaction experiences in the living room" should read "The WAVI Xtion media center for the PC leverages <strong>wireless HDMI technology</strong> and PrimeSense 3D motion sensor technology to provide controller-free experiences in the living room."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/03/primesense-and-asus-announce-kinect-style-device-for-living-room/">PrimeSense and Asus announce Kinect-style device for living room PCs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Jan 2011 10:45:00 EST. Here we go <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=xbox+360+blu-ray">again</a>! This time around we've got the Chinese-language Economic Daily News reporting that Pegatron (an OEM subsidiary of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asus#Corporate_restructuring">Asus</a> that handles "motherboard and component OEM manufacturing") has been tapped to assemble "Xbox 360 consoles equipped with a Blu-ray Disc ROM drive." The admittedly unreliable language indicates an internal drive as opposed to another external attachment but, with shipments expected to begin in Q3 of this year, we'll now soon enough: internal or external; true or false. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/02/xbox-360-blu-ray-console-by-september/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/02/rumorang-xbox-360-blu-ray-console-shipping-q3/">Rumorang: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 May 2008 09:54:00 EST. The demo featured two identical laptops with internal Intel GMA 945 processors. Asus reps attached the XG Station to one and left the other bare -- and struggling. The test seemed to prove that the XG Station, which also simulates 5.1 surround sound, is an adequate option for underpowered-laptop owners who enjoy the occasional peek at what's good in PC gaming.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/09/asus-xg-station-external-gpu-it-works/">Asus XG Station external GPU, it works</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Jan 2007 09:25:00 EST. The papers report Asustek recieved 200,000 component sets in June, inferring Asus could have produced as many as 200,000 consoles. As production ramps up, additional manufacturers (FoxConn) will be added to receive the more than one million component sets suppliers hope to deliver per month in September and October.<br /><br />Sony plans to deliver 2mln PS3 consoles during the "launch window," 4mln by the end of 2006, and 6mln by March '07. In comparison, Microsoft had hoped to sell 10mln Xbox 360 consoles within the first 12 to 16 months giving them a 2.5x larger install base by the beginning of next year. Sony's numbers are looking good <em>if</em> they can meet the torrent of demand this holiday.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone for the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tips">tips</a>; via <a href="http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20060718235111.html">X-bit Labs</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/19/ps3-begins-production-in-taiwan/">PS3 begins production in Taiwan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Jul 2006 15:30:00 EST. Hopefully more will become clear after Sony opens <a
href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/13/major-press-conference-set-for-march-15th-by-sony/">its upcoming PS3
event</a> to analysts and the press tomorrow (which, due to the Asian time difference, will actually take place in just
a few hours).<br /><br />[Via <a
href="http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=2483&amp;Itemid=2">Next Generation</a>;
image from <a href="http://usa.asus.com/aboutasus.aspx?show=1">the company's North American web site</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/14/mass-shipments-of-ps3s-and-psps-for-christmas/">"Mass shipments" of PS3s &amp; PSPs for Christmas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Mar 2006 23:59:00 EST.
