The fact that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/joe-danger-special-edition"><em>Joe Danger: Special Edition</em></a> includes a full Joe Danger outfit as Avatar Awards is entirely secondary to this post. What is primary is that you watch the <a href="http://www.hellogames.org/2011/12/joe-danger-special-edition-avatar-awards/">amazing video</a> Hello Games put together to promote it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/joe-danger-special-edition-avatar-awards-revealed-via-amazing-v/">Joe Danger: Special Edition Avatar Awards revealed via amazing video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 11:59:00 EST. There may be only a very small handful of Xbox 360 devotees living in Japan, but Kojima Productions doesn't want them feeling totally left out of the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a>. While 360 owners won't be treated to the same <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/mgs-hd-collection-coming-to-japan-on-november-23/">free download of <em>Metal Gear Solid 1</em></a> that PlayStation owners get, they will have the option of unlocking several MGS-themed Avatar items. Better news? All of the items are simply <em>adorable</em>. Just look at that tank box!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/look-at-these-adorable-avatar-awards-for-japans-metal-gear-soli/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Look at these adorable Avatar awards for Japan's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/look-at-these-adorable-avatar-awards-for-japans-metal-gear-soli/">Look at these adorable Avatar awards for Japan's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Oct 2011 05:05:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-Reach/"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a> marketing machine is working overtime this week, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-Waypoint/"><em>Halo Waypoint</em></a> will release new content everyday until the Beta launches on May 3. If that isn't a big enough tease for you, the schedule of content the team at <em>Waypoint</em> sent to us still has a few "To be announced" placeholders. It's bad enough <em>Halo</em> fans need to wait, but waiting for the content provided to <em>help</em> diminish the wait for the<em> </em>Beta is just cruel, guys. Here's the <em>Halo Waypoint</em> schedule of content for the days leading to the <em>Halo: Reach</em> Beta.<br />
<br />
In a recent <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2010/04/22/halo-reach-vidoc-carnage-carnivale-plus-a-3d-screenshot/"><em>Reach</em> ViDoc</a>, an Avatar award is briefly mentioned by designer Luke Smith as the only thing beta testers will start with when they begin their testing duties on May 3. <em>Halo Waypoint</em> will also see a title update sometime before the beta launches. While it's unconfirmed if the two are related, Team Waypoint recently <a href="http://twitter.com/HaloWaypoint/status/12600510036">tweeted more "details"</a> would be released regarding an image of a "<em>Halo: Reach</em> Beta Tester" Avatar hoodie recently uncovered by NeoGAF; it's looking likely that this is the gear you could be getting for playing the <em>Halo: Reach</em> beta. The content schedule for <em>Halo Waypoint</em> can be found after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/waypoints-halo-reach-content-schedule-avatar-award-teased/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Waypoint's Halo Reach content schedule, Avatar award teased</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/waypoints-halo-reach-content-schedule-avatar-award-teased/">Waypoint's Halo Reach content schedule, Avatar award teased</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 16:44:00 EST. It's a proven fact that absolutely everyone likes Avatar Awards. Unlike the goodies in the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/avatar-marketplace">Avatar Marketplace</a>, Avatar Awards are free and, in many cases, provide a highly visible way to show off your gaming prowess. Several titles have offered Avatar Awards thus far -- including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/left-4-dead-2-getting-avatar-rewards/"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/splosion-man-avatar-awards-unlocked-delicious-steaks-to-be-dis/"><em>'Splosion Man</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/30/halo-waypoint-live-with-dashboard-preview-program-includes-avat/"><em>Halo Waypoint</em></a> -- and now we have one more to add to the list: <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/after-burner-climax"><em>After Burner Climax</em></a>.<br />
<br />
The game <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/europe/2010/04/21/after-burner-climax-prices-achievements-awards-all-the-details-you-need/">packs two Avatar Awards</a>. The first is a T-shirt, awarded simply for unlocking all the game's EX options, which Sega notes "anybody" should be able to do with continued play. The second, the sweet pilot's helmet you see above, is a little trickier to unlock and requires players to complete their medal collections in the score attack mode, which "takes some serious skill," according to Sega.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, it looks like Sega missed a golden opportunity here. Where's our remote control jet?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/21/after-burner-climax-comes-with-avatar-awards/">After Burner Climax comes with Avatar Awards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Apr 2010 16:45:00 EST. Earlier today, those lucky folks were granted their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/dashboard-update-preview-to-include-halo-waypoint/">promised early access</a> to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-waypoint">Halo Waypoint</a> beta. Over on <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11725508#post11725508">the Steam forums</a>, there was some hullabaloo earlier about potential Avatar awards for the Xbox 360 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>L4D2</em></a>, all stemming from uncompressed files found on a dedicated server for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/l4d2-pre-order-demo-mia-on-steam/">the PC demo</a>. Well, we're glad to inform you that Valve has confirmed Avatar awards will be included with the game (via <a href="http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/700285/Left-4-Dead-2-Will-Feature-Avatar-Awards.html">G4</a>) and that there will be a total of nine different Avatar rewards, six of which we currently know about.<br /> <br /> These awards will run the gamut from a med kit backpack to a frying pan prop right down to Rochelle's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/depeche-mode-is-all-over-left-4-dead-2/">Depeche Mode shirt</a> you see above. And, unlike some other Avatar awards, you won't need to max out Gamerscore to get 'em; <em>L4D2</em> Avatar awards unlock after you've completed more manageable tasks, such as winning ten games of Versus or killing 10,000 infected. <br /> <br /> If you want to see some of the items in the flesh, head past the break for a virtual tour courtesy of G4.<a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11725508#post11725508"><br /> </a><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/left-4-dead-2-getting-avatar-rewards/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Left 4 Dead 2 getting Avatar rewards</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/left-4-dead-2-getting-avatar-rewards/">Left 4 Dead 2 getting Avatar rewards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Oct 2009 16:02:00 EST. We've got good news all around for fans of Twisted Pixel's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man"><em>'Splosion Man</em></a>, as well as advocates for <em>tender red meat</em>. The developer has announced that a title update has fixed laggy online multiplayer sessions and added <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/splosion-man-avatar-awards-revealed/">those unlockable Avatar awards</a> to the highly combustible Xbox Live Arcade platformer. To unlock all four shirts seen above (two for female Avatars and two for males), you must accomplish two feats: break a single pane of glass (easy!) and beat the entire co-op campaign (considerably less easy).<br />
<br />
Oh, right, the <em>meat thing</em>. In one of the greatest nonsensical partnerships in the history of civilization, Omaha Steaks has teamed up with Twisted Pixel to give away "hundreds of top-quality steak filets" to '<em>sploders</em> across the nation. To register for the giveaway, just <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/022f0038-0000-4000-8000-0000475207f5">download</a> and equip a special <em>'Splosion Man</em> gamerpic, and then play a few online multiplayer matches before November 22. If you win, you get steaks. If you're vegan, you <em>give them to us</em>.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Twisted Pixel has officially revealed the Avatar Awards that are set to appear in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man"><em>'Splosion Man</em></a> in the near future. Even better, the developer even told us the requirements to unlock the two awards. The first award is a men's T-shirt and a women's hoodie. To unlock it, simply break your first pane of glass in <em>'Splosion Man</em>. The second one, however, is just a <em>bit</em> more difficult. To unlock the Big Science T-shirt and dress, you'll have to complete the entire co-op campaign. Yeah, the whole thing.<br />
<br />
Finally, we've got one other bit of good news. If you've already accomplished these tasks, the items will automatically unlock. Unfortunately, we still don't know when the Avatar Awards will be available, but you can bet we'll be all over them -- and they will be all over our Avatars -- when they release.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/splosion-man-avatar-awards-revealed/">'Splosion Man Avatar Awards revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Aug 2009 18:45:00 EST. <a href="javascript:void(0);/*1247086177045*/">GameCinema HD</a> is hosting some images of what could be some of the new Xbox 360 features announced at E3. In the screen above, you can see sections for both the<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/microsoft-announces-avatar-marketplace-unlockable-apparel/"> Avatar Marketplace</a> as well as a space for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/27/microsoft-beta-testing-avatar-awards/">Avatar Awards</a>. Other shots show off these areas themselves, though they are understandably empty right now. The screens also include new Xbox Live Marketplace entries for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/games-on-demand">Games on Demand</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/11/xbox-live-community-games-become-indie-games/">Indie Games</a> (no shots of the inside of either of these areas, unfortunately).<br /><br />We find it a bit strange that someone willing to leak images of the new features would fail to edit out their own gamertag, though -- you'll notice it's in the upper left corner, clear as crystal. A quick check reveals that there is no Hobbtao gamertag listed on Xbox Live, which could mean a couple of things. One, these images are from an Xbox 360 dev kit, meaning Mr. Hobbtao is probably in violation of a Microsoft NDA. Two, the images are fakes.<br /><br />Regardless, we're talking about <em>menus</em> here, which aren't nearly as exciting as what they <em>contain</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/07/08/rumor-xbox-live-dashboard-update-pics-surface/">VG247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/possible-pictures-of-new-nxe-features-emerge/">Possible pictures of new NXE features emerge</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. Joystiq tipsters -- and <a href="http://www.xbox.com">Xbox.com</a> regulars -- have noticed a strange <em>Beta 2009</em> icon appearing on some Xbox 360 'Played Games' profiles. While speculation (or <em>hopes and dreams</em>) was that the icon was related to something <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-reach/">important</a>, sources tell Joystiq that Microsoft is internally testing Avatar awards. Sorry, no <em>megatons</em> here.<br /><br />From what we've been told, the test is an executable built for Beta users to play with the awards program before it launches. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Avatar/">Avatar</a> awards are triggered by in-game achievements: when a player unlocks an award -- clothing was the only specific award mentioned -- it is made available in the Avatar customization menu of the NXE. Select Xbox 360 users are already sporting <a href="http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?pp=0&amp;GamerTag=major+nelson">fancy new threads</a>, which are presumably related to this beta test.<br /><br />Avatar awards were one of the many new features coming to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">NXE</a> revealed at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@E3-2009/">E3 2009</a> -- including the <strike>smart</strike> evil idea of charging users for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/microsoft-announces-avatar-marketplace-unlockable-apparel/">real "cool" stuff</a>.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/27/microsoft-beta-testing-avatar-awards/">Microsoft beta testing Avatar awards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Jun 2009 18:00:00 EST.
