Nearly everything in Gaijin Games' esteemed Bit.Trip series has been marked down on Steam, from now until Monday, May 20.<br />
<br />
For instance: <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/18772/"><em>Bit.Trip Collection</em></a>, which includes <em>Bit.Trip Beat</em>, <em>Bit.Trip Runner</em>, <em>Bit.Trip Core</em> and <em>Bit.Trip Void</em>, has had its price cut by 75% and is now just $11.98. Likewise, all of those games can be purchased individually at a discounted price of $2.49. Even last year's gorgeous <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/218060/"><em>Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien</em></a> has had its price dropped to less than $12 - we recommend <em>gettin' while the gettin's good</em>, as our very southern mom would say.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/bit-trip-games-25-to-75-off-on-steam-until-may-20/">Bit.Trip games 25-to-75% off on Steam until May 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 May 2013 23:00:00 EST. What's more, the collection will cost $14.99, saving players a <em>whole bunch</em> of dollars in addition to the convenience of the compilation being downloadable.<br /><br /><em>Bit.Trip Saga</em> includes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Bit-Trip-Beat"><em>Bit.Trip Beat</em></a>, <em>Bit.Trip Core</em>, <em>Bit.Trip Void</em>, <em>Bit.Trip Runner</em>, <em>Bit.Trip Fate</em> and <em>Bit.Trip Flux</em>. If our math is correct, that's only a <em>couple</em> dollars per game in the six-game bundle. What a deal! <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bit-trip-saga-3ds-0/">Bit.Trip Saga (3DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bit-trip-saga-3ds-0/#4580608"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/3dsbtb1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bit-trip-saga-3ds-0/#4580609"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/3dsbtf1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bit-trip-saga-3ds-0/#4580610"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/3dsbtx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/08/bit-trip-saga-coming-to-3ds-eshop-december-20-for-15/">Bit.Trip Saga coming to 3DS eShop December 20 for $15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2012 17:00:00 EST. Following successful releases of the first game in the series (<em>Beat</em>) and the fourth (<em>Runner</em>), <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/bit-trip-core"><em>Bit.Trip Core</em></a> is available today on Steam for PC and Mac. It's $9.99 alone, or $11.99 with a downloadable soundtrack.<br /><br />The chronological second game in the pixelated series uses nothing but a D-pad (or, we suppose, keys to represent four directions on a D-pad), and involves deceptively simple rhythm gameplay. All you have to do is press a direction when a dot reaches the middle of the screen. <br /><br />Of course, it's a Bit.Trip game, so you'll be screaming and wailing at that "simple" gameplay within a few minutes. In a fun way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/03/bit-trip-core-joins-beat-and-runner-on-steam/">Bit.Trip Core joins Beat and Runner on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Oct 2012 19:30:00 EST. We didn't have to wait long for <em>Mega Man X</em> on Virtual Console. It was announced for Japan <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/25/chrono-trigger-mega-man-x-coming-to-virtual-console-in-japan/">just last month</a>, and it's on the Virtual Console in North America today! Of course, if you count <em>all</em> the time since the original 1993 release, including the years since the Wii first came out, it's a longer wait.<br />
<br />
WiiWare offers a <em>Bit.Trip Core</em> demo today, and on the total opposite end of the "crazy hardcore" spectrum, <em>My Little Baby</em>. DSiWare has a very cute submarine game, a piano teaching tool, and the third <em>DodoGo</em> puzzle game.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/">Mega Man X (SNES)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/#4064919"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/i28679_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/#4064920"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/i28680_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/#4064922"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/i28681_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/#4064923"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/i28682_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mega-man-x-snes/#4064924"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/04/i28683_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/nintendoware-weekly-mega-man-x/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Mega Man X</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/nintendoware-weekly-mega-man-x/">NintendoWare Weekly: Mega Man X</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Apr 2011 10:45:00 EST. It has <em>finally </em>arrived in PAL territories, and we have high hopes for a North American release soon. (Which we really shouldn't.) <br /><br />The other new additions are actually pretty great as well: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/mario-vs-donkey-kong-minis-march-again-in-a-week/"><em>Mario vs. Donkey Kong</em></a> and <em>Pop! Plus Solo</em> are now up on DSiWare, and two distinctly different paddle games, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/review-bit-trip-core-wiiware/"><em>Bit.Trip: Core</em></a> and <em>Arkanoid Plus</em>, are on WiiWare:<br />

    <li><em>Pilotwings </em>(SNES, 800 Wii Points)</li>
    <li><em>Bit.Trip: Core </em>(WiiWare, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)</li>

It's also, sadly, a feat that probably won't be repeated, given the recent decline in selection. But let's not talk about <em>declines</em> when we've got such an incredible <em>increase</em> this month! Four games on Virtual Console -- and good ones, too, like <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> and <em>Pac-Mania</em>, would be remarkable enough, but they are joined by no fewer than <em>nine</em> on WiiWare.<br /><br />The WiiWare selection includes genuinely interesting content like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/review-bit-trip-core-wiiware/"><em>Bit.Trip: CORE</em></a>, the one-button <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/konami-brings-sand-salary-men-to-wiiware-in-japan/"><em>Tomenasanner Wii</em></a> (seen above), and the three <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon-mystery-dungeon"><em>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon</em></a> games; plus genuinely <span style="font-style: italic;">forgettable</span> content like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/wii-fanboy-review-sandy-beach/"><em>Sandy Beach</em></a>, and wild cards like dolphin-training game <em>Sea Farm</em>, <em>Derby Dog</em>, which is, yes, a game about racing different varieties of dog, and a brain training game with its most notable feature being that its title translates to "Make your Square Brain Round."<br /><br />The complete release listings are posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/vc-wiiware-tuesday-an-impossibly-large-update/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VC/WiiWare Tuesday: An impossibly large update</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/vc-wiiware-tuesday-an-impossibly-large-update/">VC/WiiWare Tuesday: An impossibly large update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 11:20:00 EST. Gaijin Games returns with another installment in its <em>Bit.Trip</em> series: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bit-trip-core"><em>Bit.Trip: Core</em></a>, and if you found yourself hyperventilating at the prospect of zapping pixels from a whole bunch of different directions, know those fears are well-founded. <em>Bit.Trip: Core</em> is <em>very </em>tough, but like its predecessor, it's not frustrating.<br />

The numbers "7+6+9" correspond to a date: July 6, 2009, which just <em>happens</em> to be a Monday. We've gotten confirmation from Gaijin Games that this is indeed the meaning of the image. <br />
<br />
"Absolutely," Gaijin's Chris Osborn told us. "And it will be the 100th WiiWare release!" Given that Nintendo saves its milestone Virtual Console releases for things like <em>Zelda </em>games, it seems like quite a distinction to be the hundredth game on WiiWare.<br />

But this trailer shows that dots approach the middle of the screen from <span style="font-style: italic;">eight</span> directions. <br /><br />The more precise digital control scheme should make the gameplay a bit easier to process, but we still perceive a lot of psychedelic, entranced <span style="font-style: italic;">failure</span> in our future. And we can't wait!<br /><br />Those creepy stretched-out Commander Video characters didn't help make us feel any more <span style="font-style: italic;">confident</span> about the game, either.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/prepare-for-pain-with-this-bit-trip-core-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prepare for pain with this Bit.Trip: Core trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/prepare-for-pain-with-this-bit-trip-core-trailer/">Prepare for pain with this Bit.Trip: Core trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 12:40:00 EST. The sequel to the very fun (yet, very <em>punishing</em>) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/20/joystiq-review-bit-trip-beat-wiiware/"><em>Bit.Trip: Beat</em></a> has been revealed in <em>Bit.Trip: Core, </em><a href="http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/bittripcore/news.html?sid=6209060&amp;tag=topslot;img;2">GameSpot reports</a>. If you thought it was tough keeping track of rogue pixels assaulting you from one direction, then you're going to have an even tougher time with <em>Core</em>, as the player must now defend against attacking pixels from <em>four</em> <em>different directions</em>. <br />
<br />
Another big change comes in the controls department. The first game featured motion-based controls, but in <em>Core</em> you're stuck in the middle of the screen, pushing directions on the d-pad to shine a beam of light toward rushing pixels. It's essentially the same type of gameplay, combining rhythm and shmup elements, so if you liked <em>Bit.Trip: Beat</em>, then you'll likely find value in this. The game also adds a progress meter showing you how far you've made it into a stage, as well as a screen clearing ability that will hopefully ease the experience up a bit. <em><br />
<br />
Bit.Trip: Core</em> is due for release on WiiWare sometime this summer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/gaijin-games-ups-the-ante-on-wiiware-with-bit-trip-core/">Gaijin Games ups the ante on WiiWare with Bit.Trip: Core</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 May 2009 13:30:00 EST.
