This was probably Capcom's thought process when it launched the latest patch, which introduces a glitch that freezes the game whenever Rolento's knife hits an opponent's fireball.

The above video demonstrates the bug, which affects Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games that have been updated to version 1.04, Shoryuken reports. The patch does fix a few problems, such as hit box issues.
Patch breaks Street Fighter X Tekken in new and exciting ways originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 17 May 2012 19:30:00 EST. If you hope to keep having fun, you might want to avoid the game-breaking bug discovered by fellow players. According to many posts on the Blizzard forums, equipping a Templar follower with a different shield may result in the game desynchronizing from Blizzard's servers. Users are also reporting that they are unable to log back into Diablo 3 - specifically encountering timeout error 3006 - even after restarting the game.

As noted by Eurogamer, the issue may be restricted to the Demon Hunter class. Blizzard is currently looking into the problem. In the meantime, regardless of your class, you should probably avoid swapping equipment with the Templar follower.

Update: Apparently the issue arises specifically if you swap items that you currently have equipped with the Templar. Still, probably safer to not mess with a Templar's equipment at all for now..
Diablo 3 PSA: Don't give a Templar follower a shield originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 15 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. Case in point: YouTuber ZeldaFreakGlitcha recently used a bug in Ocarina of Time that allows him to complete the game in 23 minutes. The glitch involves defeating Queen Gohma and activating, but not traveling through, the warp gate, which then drops child Link in Ganon's castle, and miniaturized missions ensue.

Usually we'd say defeating Ganon is no small feat, but with this, well... you know. ZeldaFreakGlitcha is live-streaming more attempts to beat his best bug time today on TwitchTV.
New Zelda: Ocarina of Time bug beats game in 23 minutes as child Link originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 15 Apr 2012 12:30:00 EST. A bug in the beta granted access to three areas not yet intended for public play: the Festering Woods, Drowned Temple and Fields of Misery.

The three bugged levels are mostly playable, featuring larger, more diverse beasts than in the released beta levels, including goatmen, violent trees, ghouls, spirits and more, incgamers reports. Blizzard pulled the servers to lock the areas out again, according to ubergizmo, but not before a few players recorded their adventures -- watch one romp through the Fields of Misery above.
Diablo 3 beta bug opens three secret gates of Hell originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 13 Mar 2012 15:20:00 EST. An admin on the game's official forums recently posted about a potential glitch in the game that resets earned stats and unlocked content, and that thread has earned itself a whopping 63 pages of irate customers on both Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Just losing your stats in the game is a waste of time, but some of those customers bought and paid money for XP boosts and other items to help them level up, which means they're losing that money as well.

Another official forum post suggests that the problem arises when the trial version of the game is converted into the full version. We've contacted WBIE for more information on the glitch. If you're thinking about unlocking the full game or have a lot of stats saved up already, you might want to step gingerly until a fix is out.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]
Users report reset glitch in Gotham City Impostors originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 16 Feb 2012 02:30:00 EST.
"Wuhu Island" may sound like an innocuous place, but it's apparently rife with dirty, dirty cheaters. And that cheating doesn't sound like it's stopping anytime soon, with Nintendo telling StickTwiddlers that the island's "Maka Wuhu" track in Mario Kart 7 won't be patched or updated to fix the glaring glitch found at the start.

"We are aware that it is possible to navigate a certain part of the track in Wuhu Island in a way that allows a large part of the course to be bypassed," Nintendo rep Buddy Roemer (no, not that Buddy Roemer) told the site. And though Nintendo acknowledges the glitch, Roemer said there "are no plans to update the game to remove this shortcut." Not for the moment, at least.

The logic behind not updating the game is perhaps even more bizarre than acknowledging the glitch and refusing to fix it. "Doing so would create an unfair advantage for the users of the original release of the game," Roemer said, though he did also say the request for a fix has "been added to our records for Mario Kart 7." We imagine a printout of the email is now sitting in an official three-ring binder somewhere, biding its time next to fan art of Yoshi with a glider.
Nintendo doesn't plan on fixing Maka Wahu track in Mario Kart 7 originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 17 Jan 2012 22:00:00 EST. Of all of the weird glitches to occur in newly launched game hardware, this is by far the most soothing. Andriasang spotted a video taken by a new Vita owner of what appears to be some kind of debug mode, complete with three swimming dolphins, a floating oyster and a pearl, all of which can be seen from various angles and distances. It is truly a multiporpoise device.

We'd be a lot more charmed by this, if not for the fact that this Vita was reportedly stuck in this dolphin mode. No amount of variable dolphin lighting could make up for that inconvenience.
Rumor: PS Vita glitch leads to dolphin debug mode originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 21 Dec 2011 13:55:00 EST. Sony UK is downplaying the scope of reported freezing issues with the PlayStation Vita. Speaking to The Guardian, SCE UK head of public relations David Wilson said, "We're annoyed with these stories, because we can't find any evidence of widespread glitches."

He went on to clarify that there has been no apology issued from Sony on the subject of glitches. "The stories even said that Sony has issued an apology for PS Vita glitches, which simply isn't true - there's an apology on our Japanese website for people who are having trouble getting through to our technical help line, but that's it." The page with the apology also links directly to a list of troubleshooting measures in case of a freeze.

But don't take the overwhelmed tech support, and addressing "freezes" in a shortlist of frequently asked questions, as evidence that freezing is a common issue.
Sony UK: no evidence of 'widespread glitches' among Japanese Vitas originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 21 Dec 2011 11:50:00 EST. If you're currently many hours deep into The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword -- say, around the "Song of the Hero" quest -- you'd better be careful. According to an email from Nintendo sent to Zelda Informer, you may encounter a game-breaking glitch if you complete tasks in a certain order during the "Song of the Hero" quest. If you save after the bug is in effect and don't have an earlier file as a backup, you'll have to start Skyward Sword over.

If you complete the quest's desert leg first and speak to a Goron gentleman not once, but twice, the game locks out completion of the other two portions, halting all progress in the game. That said, it's pretty easy to avoid: just don't talk to the Goron more than once. Done! (Alternatively, do not complete the desert part first.)

Nintendo gets more specific in describing the glitch in its letter, which we've dropped below the break. We've reached out to Nintendo to see if a patch will be issued for the game, but the company's official release unfortunately didn't indicate as much.
Continue reading Oops! Glitches usually come in one of two varieties: The hilarious, and the game breaking. Sometimes, however, you'll stumble across a bug so profoundly weird that it falls into both categories. Enter the "Reverse World," an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 error which flips the camera 180 degrees on its Z axis, turns the characters into silhouettes and reverses all input motions.

As explained in the above tutorial video, the glitch is activated by performing Morrigan's Astral Visions hyper combo and then sliding down a wall as Strider. The effect is devastating to the match, but since the glitch requires the participation of both parties, it doesn't seem like it could be abused for trolling purposes. In fact, we'd take a smiling, floating Servbot over Wesker's DHC glitch any day.
Welcome to UMvC3's Reverse World originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 04 Dec 2011 11:30:00 EST. EA tells Joystiq that it's aware of some players experiencing a bug, which appears to stop any further progress, in The Sims 3 for consoles. A representative for the publisher says EA is "continuing to look into it."

InGamingWeTrust has the details on the bug, occurring on both PS3 and Xbox 360, which involves the entire console locking up while attempting to automatically or manually save the game. EA has no details on what currently triggers the bug, or how to prevent it.

If you're experiencing the issue with your copy of Sims 3, it seems the only recourse at the moment is to add your voice to the choir. Check out the video after the break to see the crash in action.
Continue reading EA 'continuing to look into' Sims 3 console-crashing bug

EA 'continuing to look into' Sims 3 console-crashing bug originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 17 Feb 2011 19:20:00 EST. With a regular software update framework in place, Nintendo would have no problem patching out a recently discovered, game-breaking bug in Metroid: Other M. Unfortunately, such a system doesn't really exist, leaving the company to adopt a more ... unique approach to solving the problem. Nintendo is asking people living in Japan who have experienced the bug to send the SD card or Wii console with their game save on it to its Kyoto-based service center.

We've contacted Nintendo of America to see if it's come up with a more practical -- or any -- approach to fixing the issue. As it stands right now, homebrewers had a fix ready to go about a week ago, and that's ... well, that's just silly.

Update: NoA has posted a detailed explanation of the issue on a support page where it describes how to both create and avoid the bug. If you mistakenly did the former (or were just plain curious), there are also instructions to "set up a repair" and send Nintendo your save file on an SD card. Hopefully, it won't have to travel all the way to Kyoto and back.
Nintendo offers impractical solution to Metroid: Other M bug in Japan originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 27 Sep 2010 13:15:00 EST. Diehard bi-wheel racing fans who participated in MotoGP 09/10's recent 2010 Season DLC were likely miffed by an unintended side effect of the update. Apparently, players who completed the game's 2009 Season couldn't access the new competitions or bikes without being kicked to the main menu. Even worse, upon returning to their 2009 careers, players would realize their precious motorcycles had mysteriously vanished into thin air.

Capcom recently apologized profusely on Eurogamer, stating, "we are aware of the problem and are working to deliver a solution to solve the issue as soon as possible." In the mean time, you might want to keep on living in the past. Sure, the bikes are a bit outdated, but at least they exist.
Capcom working to fix MotoGP's disappearing bikes bug originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 08 Jul 2010 23:30:00 EST. Are you sick and tired of all the freezing and crashing going on while you're freezing and smashing opponents in BioShock 2 multiplayer? We can't say that we blame you. Fortunately, 2K is rolling out patches for the all three -- Xbox 360, PS3 and PC -- versions of the game that should alleviate connectivity issues, as well as a few other miscellaneous snafus. The patches are currently "in the final stages of testing," meaning we should be seeing them fairly soon. Click past the jump to see the full list of changes for each platform.
Just like that, we suddenly understand some peoples' stern distaste for subscription-based MMOs. A recent bug in the Warhammer Online billing system charged some players its $14.99 monthly fee dozens of times on their monthly due dates. The amount of the overcharge differs from user to user -- reports on this forum thread average between $200 and $500. One player, who claimed to be repeatedly charged for a $77.94 six-month subscription, was hit with fees totaling $1013.12.

The cause of the error is currently unclear, as is the scope of its impact on the game's subscriber base. EA's billing support department is now in full-on crisis recovery mode, working with each affected player's financial institution to refund the fees within "24-36 hours." Considering that this debacle could have likely led to any number of overdraft fees and bounced rent checks for the over-charged, it could prove quite a costly recovery for EA.
Earlier today, our tips inbox and the official Assassin's Creed 2 forum were set ablaze by incensed owners of the PC version of the aforementioned Italian revenge epic. According to numerous reports from prospective players of the game, Ubisoft's DRM authentification servers have crashed, forcing some players to suffer lengthy login periods when booting up Assassin's Creed 2, and locking some folks out of the game entirely.

A Ubisoft representative responded to a particularly rage-filled forum thread, stating "clearly the extended downtime and lengthy login issues are unacceptable, particularly as I've been told these servers are constantly monitored." The representative added "I'll do what I can to get more information on what the issue is here first thing tomorrow and push for a resolution and assurance this won't happen in the future." We've got a really great suggestion for how to make such an assurance: Find a less abominable DRM policy.
We've apparently made it through the worst of the storm, friends. We've received a number of tips informing us that the internal clock bug that was affecting non-Slim PS3s for the past 24 hours has been fixed, rendering all games playable once more. We tempted fate shortly after receiving these reports by testing out a few of our PS3 Phat units and can confirm that they're running games just fine. Additionally, our "lost" Trophies appear to be properly re-synced to our PSN accounts.

The extent of the damage incurred during the bug-out is unknown, but will likely surface in the next few hours. No Joystiq staffers lost any of their hard-earned Trophy data, but we're an awfully small sample group for a problem that affected every living being on Earth.

Update: PlayStation Blog confirms that PSN service has been restored and all PS3 systems should be operating normally.
The statement puts a loose timeframe on a fix for the issues, saying, "we hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours."

Additionally, the PlayStation Blog post includes a word of warning to PS3 Phat owners: "if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained Trophies, and not being able to restore certain data." (Read Sony's full statement after the break.)
We know you're curious to see what the console apocalypse looks like, but trust us -- it's just not worth it. We'll let you know when it's safe to turn your system back on.
A wide rash of game-crashing errors is spreading among the PS3-owning community at the moment, most of which can be chalked up to a 8001050F error code. This has led to a variety of unfortunate side-effects for those affected, including corrupted Trophy information and an inability to access the PSN. When combined, those two issues prevent players from launching certain games, such as Heavy Rain, without being kicked back to the XMB.

We've contacted Sony to find out what's causing the issue, and when we can expect to get back to chasing down the Origami Killer. He might just be able to make a clean getaway while we suffer through this downtime.

Update: Sony has acknowledged the issue, and is "looking into it." We've yet to hear an official word on what the problem is, though it seems to be a bit larger than just the PSN. Owners of PS3 Phats are reporting that the date on their console has reverted to 12/31/1999, which is likely the cause of the data-corrupting errors. Some Phat-owners have reported receiving the errors while their console was offline, which is upsetting, to say the least. We'll let you know when we hear official word from Sony.

Update 2: It's been 11 hours since our last update from Sony, and Phat PS3s worldwide are still unable to play Trophy-supported games. The issue is almost certainly non-PSN related, and appears to be a firmware issue caused by the screwy time and date settings. The issue is also affecting debug consoles, which Develop reports is preventing PS3 game developers from working on their projects. We'll keep pushing Sony on this issue. Happy New Year, everyone!

Update 3: Sony has responded to the internal clock error, and is advising PS3 Phat owners to leave them turned off until the issue can be fixed -- hopefully within the next 24 hours. Read here for more info.
We've received a number of reports from readers who've been participating in BioShock 2's multiplayer component and succumbing to a variety of game-crashing bugs. The reported causes of the freezing are widespread -- some Xbox 360 players encounter it during the post-game recap, while some have reported freezing up while in their apartment hubs. We've contacted 2K to find out if anything is being done to patch whatever issue might be causing the breakdowns.

We were going to make a joke about the freezes being caused by the overzealous use of the Winter Blast plasmid, but that would have been one of the dumbest things we'd ever written.

Update: A 2K Games representative responded to our query, and explained, "we are aware that some users are experiencing an issue that could cause the game to freeze during the multiplayer component. We are in direct contact with our first party partners and are working around the clock in order to provide a fix as soon as possible."
We felt so bad for Borderlands' stealthy female protagonist, Lilith. While other characters' abilities were in perfect working order, her top-tier "Phase Strike" power was, well, broken. Enemies who experienced the attack began to make fun of Lilith, referring to the maligned ability as "Phase Wrist-Slap" or "Phase Hug," for which her cohorts constantly teased her.

Fret no more, dearest Lilith! Gearbox released a patch earlier today for the PS3 and 360 versions of Borderlands which, in addition to improving load times and fixing a number of small technical snafus (the full list of which are after the jump), also fixes your Phase Strike ability. Just make sure you savor the experience when you first use the renovated power -- the surprise on your combatant's face is going to be delectable.
Continue reading Borderlands console patches go live, Lilith gets some loving

Borderlands console patches go live, Lilith gets some loving originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 30 Oct 2009 11:45:00 EST. Bungie quickly responded to a 60-page-long thread on the Halo 3: ODST forums where users complained the title had experienced disc read errors while playing in the game's Campaign and Firefight modes. Now, Microsoft has also sounded off on the errors, telling Eurogamer, "we are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can't play the game," and later adding "at this point it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue."

In our last post regarding the game-crashing errors, we asked readers if they had encountered similar problems during their time with ODST. Out of the 5,608 participants who responded at the time this article was written, 1,769 (or 31.5 percent) had reported technical issues with the game. We're sure Microsoft has their own method of tracking this data, but our polling figures certainly make the problems seem as though they've spread fairly wide.
Microsoft says Halo 3: ODST disc read errors aren't 'widespread' originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 28 Sep 2009 19:30:00 EST. Randy Nunez is quite upset with Microsoft and Bungie, as TG Daily reports he's leading the charge on a lawsuit against both companies over bugs and glitches he (and others) found in Halo 3. Forget that the game is enjoyed relatively complaint-free by close to a million people every day, Nunez and company say "Halo 3 consistently causes the Xbox 360 to 'crash,' 'freeze' or 'lock up' while the game is being played." The filing even states that "repeated and mounting consumer complaints and inquiries concerning this operational flaw in Halo 3" have been reported, with Microsoft and Bungie allegedly taking no steps to correct the issue or recall the game.

Our biggest issue with the game, of course, is that it never lets us win online. Do we need to start spamming the lawyer weapon?
Gamer sticks Bungie, Microsoft with Halo 3 lawsuit originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 12:00:00 EST. Have your days of extraterrestrial tower defending come to a screeching halt due to problems brought about by the latest patch for FluffyLogic's Savage Moon? The title's creators hear your cries -- producer Simon Livesey recently responded to complaints from players whose copies of the game have been rendered unplayable by the patch, and explained that the error is only hitting people who downloaded the trial version of the game, then later unlocked the full version.

FluffyLogic is hard at work to fix the game-wrecking bug -- fortunately, Livesey mentioned an easy workaround for the error: Simply delete the game, download the trial version again, and unlock it. There, see? That wasn't so bad. You can now return to your regularly scheduled insect-alien genocide.
Savage Moon producer responds to patching problems originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 07 Aug 2009 15:00:00 EST.
Our favorite PS3 fanboys over at ... PS3 Fanboy report that a glitch in LittleBigPlanet is causing everything from game progress to user-generated content to go missing. It's looking like the culprit is the actual player profile, which it seems was only designed to hold so much stuff, even though there's tons of stuff - especially community-generated content, which seems to be the core problem here - to be had in the game. Whoops.

We've experienced an irritating side effect of the glitch: when attempting to create a new level, we're treated as if we've never gone through the Popit tutorial. Tedious!
Lionhead has gone and fessed up to a particularly irritating glitch many Fable II players have unfortunately stumbled upon. Specifically, when speaking to an abbot at the outset of the "Monk's Quest," the game will simply not let you progress any further if you choose to brush the guy off and walk away while he's talking.

The developer said in a post on its official forums that, "Some things slip through the net during development, especially when a game is the size and scope of Fable II," and went on to offer its apologies to those affected. It doesn't have any advice, though, for what to do if you're already stuck. It is planning a title update to patch the bug - so that this doesn't happen to anyone else - but hasn't provided an ETA.

Unfortunately, a couple of NCAA Football 2009's newly implemented features (the EA Locker roster system and online dynasties) didn't work properly for a few unlucky players, occasionally erasing entire teams or failing to register online victories for a small percentage of gridiron gamers. Luckily, EA seems to be working diligently to recover from these costly fumbles.

According to EA spokesman Tyrone Miller, a patch to fix the EA Locker has been submitted to Microsoft and Sony for approval, and should be available to download during the first week of August. They've yet to announce any repairs to the online dynasties, though sports game blogger Pasta Padre reported that EA was able to fix his online dynasty after submitting his in-game issues to the company. Whether or not EA will make a similar fix downloadable for the rest of the bug-riddled masses remains to be seen.
EA Sports working on fixes for NCAA Football 2009 bugs originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 26 Jul 2008 18:30:00 EST. Disaster! Panic! One of the biggest releases of the year and people are having problems? That almost never happens. Sometimes. Reports are coming in of Grand Theft Auto IV freezing during, and just after, the opening cutscene. Weirdly, anecdotal evidence is revealing that the issue seems to be exclusive to the 60GB version of the PS3. How frustrating!

Don't worry, there's a fix. Rockstar has stated that simply deleting your game data and then reinstalling will fix the issue. So if you're being plagued this particular bug then give that a go and see what happens. If it works, let us know. If it doesn't, then let us know that too. For those of you out of the loop, the application allows programmers to run augmented games on chipped Wiis -- the gore-enabled Manhunt 2 mod is a good example of the software's possibilities.

So far, a lot of the developments focus on making it easier to play pirated copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but there are a few non-piracy-related modifications, too:

Change the credits and increase character speed in Mario Strikers Charged

Play Manhunt 2 in Italian or German

Swap character movesets in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Invincibility mode in Manhunt 2

So, once you're tired of pirating Super Smash Bros. Brawl, make sure to test these out!
Trucha Signer paves the way for game mods originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 29 Feb 2008 18:00:00 EST.
The Trucha Signer is the latest tool to hit the Wii hacking scene, enables kids at home to "modify the contents of a Wii ISO and then re-sign it with an electronic signature the Wii will accept." So, does this mean you'll be able to play pirated games without modding your console? No, not at all.

From what we understand, whenever someone alters the code of a Wii game, the resulting product will not match its signature, and the disc will be rejected. Using an undocumented bug, Trucha Signer will resign the code of an adapted ISO (disk image for storing data on a CD-ROM), allowing you to load the disc successfully onto a modded Wii. We're not sure yet what's possible with this new development, but we've already heard a wide range of fantasy scenarios -- downgrading firmware, copying VC games, switching regions, etc.

Already, GBAtemp forumer Mr.O has posted instructions for "enabling gore" in Manhunt 2 (chipped Wii required). Keep in mind that Nintendo can patch this exploit at any time with a firmware update.

[Via GBAtemp]
Trucha Signer opens new Wii hacking possibilities originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 27 Feb 2008 17:00:00 EST. One minute we were best buddies, inseparable and joined at the hip; in just an instant, however, the save data became corrupt and everything was lost. All unlocked galaxies and drone level-ups were gone, along with high scores and gold medals. Instead of starting over, Geometry Wars has remained untouched ever since.

Have you ever lost your data in a DS game? And if you haven't faced corruptions, have you played any games that had bugs or glitches that made you want to stop playing? Even better, have you experienced any funny glitches in your games?

Or, has your time on the DS managed to be bug and problem free? If so, we envy you!
DS Daily: Corruptions, bugs, and glitches originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 19 Jan 2008 10:30:00 EST. However, Wii owners can at least take some comfort in knowing that the problem will soon be fixed.

Activision's customer support has replied to many irate users with an email stating that re-mastered discs should be available by early 2008. This means that customers who buy the game after the re-mastered version is available should get the fixed copies, while those who already own the game can get replacement discs at no charge.

The last time we announced a disc swap for a glitched Wii game, many of you expressed your desires to have a simple downloadable patch instead. While we agree that a patch would be more convenient, we're still glad that there will be a fix available in the near future.

[Thanks, Langst!]
Activision to fix Guitar Hero sound issues with new disc originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 07 Dec 2007 17:00:00 EST. This will give some of your characters stat boosts, not to mention a few other nice perks.

For anyone who just rolled through PoR on easy mode in order to beat the game quickly and pump their characters full of bonus experience, however, Radiant Dawn will laugh at you and then slap you in the face for good measure. See, easy mode files don't transfer over to Radiant Dawn because (as you'll know if you've played the game), the word "easy" isn't in its vocabulary. Even if you try to transfer a normal or hard mode file while having any easy mode PoR files saved somewhere else on your card, Radiant Dawn will have none of that.

Christian from The Tanooki decided to contact Nintendo on the issue, and it seems that Nintendo will have a fix ready by mid-December. In order to get your disc repaired (or possibly get a completely new disc), you have to contact Nintendo about the issue, give them your name, address, and phone number, and then send your disc to them when prompted.

So, what lesson have we learned from all this? Well, that Fire Emblem is for badasses only, of course.
Fire Emblem transfer glitch to be fixed originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 23 Nov 2007 22:34:00 EST. We're pretty sure that Nintendo doesn't want all those Star Wars-themed Miis you've accumulated!

We tried this out ourselves, and we found that while Nintendo is listed as the recipient, your friend should still receive your Mii package. Also, exiting and reentering the Mii Channel fixes the glitch, blocking Nintendo out of the transfer. Looks like there's no need to draft any angry letters or petitions about how Nintendo is taking away your God-given right to harass your friends with Greedo Miis! Expect Nintendo to fix this minor bug up with a future firmware update.

[Via Go Nintendo]
Check Mii Out (sorta) borks Mii sharing originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 12 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. That's why the game rejects this activity.

Either that or, you know, it's just a bug. Apparently the game has a problem in which you cannot continue playing after you attempt to change costumes in all three save slots. Bandai Namco is correcting the issue, and will have new copies of the game out soon. We would suggest holding off on importing until then, obviously.

Is the DS really hard to program for or something? It seems like we've had a disproportionately high number of game-breaking bugs. Apparently this week's XBLA release Mad Tracks has a bug in it and it's a bad one. Some gamers are unable to unlock further levels in the game even after beating stages appropriately. Turns out, according to most reports on the Xbox forums so far, that the bug has something to do with downloading the trial version first and then unlocking the full game. The developer, Load Inc., and Microsoft are aware of the issue. The game continues to be sold for 800 MS points ($10) on the marketplace without any warning to consumers.

The developer has apparently discovered where the problem lies with them and is working on a fix to the issue. There is no word on when a patch will be implemented. For now it looks like those who have already been caught in the trap can play their game using a different profile (it seems to work that way). If you're looking to play Mad Tracks but don't want to be affected by the bug, the safe course of action seems to be to download the full game without the trial. Once again, that's forum speculation, all that's known for certain is that there is some bug with Mad Tracks and the developer is looking into fixing it.

[Thanks Chris]
Mad Tracks bug causing madness originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 02 Jun 2007 11:25:00 EST.
