It's rare you can do something nice at the same time as you get a little something for yourself, but today presents just such an opportunity. Until January 17, you can get tons of discounted DLC, including some XBLA games, from an upstart indie called "Activision" through Xbox Live Marketplace. All the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-world-at-war">Call of Duty: World at War</a> </em>map packs are just 400 points, for example, and you can find the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock">Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock</a> "</em>Linkin Park Pack" for just 480 plus<em> our terrible, eye-rolling judgment</em>.<br />
<br />
We know it can be daunting to spend your hard-earned dough on a no-name publisher, but trust us: We've been following these scrappy kids, and we feel pretty confident that they're going places. Peruse the full list of discounts after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/select-activision-dlc-on-sale-on-xblm-until-jan-17/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Select Activision content on sale on XBLM until Jan 17</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/select-activision-dlc-on-sale-on-xblm-until-jan-17/">Select Activision content on sale on XBLM until Jan 17</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Jan 2011 17:00:00 EST. There's only so much <em>zombie slaughter</em> one can engage in before dispatching the undead loses its luster, wouldn't you say? That's why Activision is looking to shake things up for its undead murder sim, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war-zombies"><em>Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies</em></a> on iPhone.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://wireless.ign.com/articles/109/1093055p1.html">IGN</a> reports Shi No Numa will add the Zombie Swamp map to the game -- one of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>'s maps. In Zombie Swamp, players will get access to new weapons (the Arisaka, Type 100 machine gun and the Wunderwaffe DG-2) and take on new enemies: Japanese soldiers and Hellhounds. <br />
<br />
This is the second expansion released for <em>Call of Duty: Zombies</em>, joining the currently available <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/14/call-of-duty-zombies-gets-downloadable-verruckt-map/">Verruckt</a> map pack.<em> </em>Current owners will be able to download Shi No Numa at the end of this week for $4.99 from the App Store. If you have yet to download the game <em>at all</em>, you can purchase <em>Call of Duty: Zombies</em> for the usual price of $9.99 with Shi No Numa already loaded.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/27/iphones-call-of-duty-zombies-gets-add-on-shi-no-numa-pack/">iPhone's Call of Duty: Zombies gets add-on Shi No Numa pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 May 2010 07:00:00 EST. <br />
The collection bundles together the three WWII-based games in the series available on Xbox 360: <em>Call of Duty 2</em>, <em>Call of Duty 3</em> and <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> -- all for $60. Given that <em>Call of Duty 2</em> was never released on PS3, it seems unlikely that Sony's platform will receive this particular collection.<br />
<br />
That's three (old) <em>Call of Duty</em> games for the price of one standard Xbox 360 game. Not a bad deal, especially for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare"><em>Modern Warfare</em></a> players in need of a history lesson. According to GameStop and Amazon, <em>The War Collection</em> will be released this June.<br />
<br />

If you're still knee-deep in the Pacific Theater in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>, odds are you've at least heard about the various map packs out there by now. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/03/08/deal-of-the-week-cod-waw-map-pack-bundle.aspx">Major Nelson</a> reports that Microsoft has cut the price on the <em>CoD: WaW Map Pack </em>-- a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/call-of-duty-world-at-war-dlc-maps-bundled-up/">bundle of the three DLC map packs</a> previously released for the game, available for 1600<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span> this week.<br />

Each map pack is available on its own for 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span>, though the bundle usually offers a discount by lumping all three DLC packs together for 2000<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span>. So, with this weekly deal, getting all three map packs together will save you $10 total over the cost of buying them all individually -- or $5 over the usual cost of the bundle. However, there's a good chance that everyone who owns an Xbox 360 already <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/05/guitar-hero-call-of-duty-franchises-lead-activisions-better-t/">has</a> these maps, so check your hard drive before enlisting for duty!<br />

I'm a big proponent of games you can play with single taps on the iPhone and, as such, I was pretty skeptical about how well <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>'</a>s zombie mode would make the leap to the diminutive platform. Though I've played FPS games that technically worked on iPhone, they're very rarely something I find myself returning to.<br />
<br />
<em>Call of Duty: Zombies</em> cleverly skirts the issue by providing so much help with aiming, you're able to focus on what makes the mode so much fun on consoles. <br />

Now, this is just adorable. The pint-sized, touch-screened adaptation of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war-zombies"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>'s Zombie Mode</a> is getting a pint-sized, touch-screened adaptation of the console game's first piece of DLC: The undead-infested asylum known as Verr&uuml;ckt. The map is <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/call-of-dutyr-world-at-war-zombies-verruckt-map-now-available-84236952.html">available to purchase</a> through the game's main menu for $4.99.<br />
<br />
Much like the console version of the DLC, Verr&uuml;ckt comes with a mess of new guns, electro-shock defenses and Perks-a-Cola machines. Because, hey, staving off floods of Nazombies sure works up a <em>powerful</em> thirst.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/14/call-of-duty-zombies-gets-downloadable-verruckt-map/">Call of Duty: Zombies gets downloadable Verruckt map</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 14 Feb 2010 20:30:00 EST. With Activision's holiday fiscal report expected to release this week, Wedbush Morgan analyst <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/michael-pachter">Michael Pachter</a> is predicting that the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> profit machine may not repeat its fantastic 2009 performance this year. As reported by <a href="http://www.industrygamers.com/news/call-of-duty-to-decline-250-million-this-year-says-pachter/">IndustryGamers</a>, Pachter believes the <em>Call of Duty</em> franchise will generate "sharply lower revenue," in 2010, to the tune of a $250 million decline. Not to worry, though, as he notes that Activision is likely to more than make up for that amount thanks to Blizzard's impending releases (hello, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/starcraft-2"><em>StarCraft II</em></a>). Aside from that, of course, it's important to remember that we're talking about a $250 million decrease on almost <em>a billion</em> dollars, so it's not like Pachter expects <em>Call of Duty</em> to wind up in the toilet.<br />
<br />
It's worth noting that the previous <em>Call of Duty</em> title, <em>World at War</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/wii-sales-propel-call-of-duty-world-at-war-past-cod4/">initially outsold <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em></a>, though <em>Modern Warfare</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/npd-wii-play-is-best-selling-game-of-all-time-in-the-us/">remained on top</a> after the dust settled. Unsurprisingly to anyone paying attention, <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> turned around to outsell the original <em>Modern Warfare</em>. Still, all three remain among the best selling games of <em>all time</em>, so maybe it's okay if the next one is only <em>phenomenally</em> successful.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/08/pachter-call-of-duty-to-decline-250-million-in-2010/">Pachter: Call of Duty to decline $250 million in 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Feb 2010 21:00:00 EST. If there's a statistic measuring how well a game sold, you're likely to find <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-play"><em>Wii Play</em></a> lingering in it somewhere. It's not only been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/top-five-best-sellers-for-2009-tracked-for-each-console/">the best-selling game of 2009</a>, but also just recently made itself known as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/wii-fit-may-surpass-san-andreas-sales-wii-play-is-top-selling/">the top seller for the last decade</a>. Now, according to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/npd">NPD</a> data (via <a href="http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6246627.html">GameSpot</a>), the software-hardware hybrid has claimed another throne: top-selling non-PC US game <em>ever</em>. <br />
<br />
It's a pretty prestigious list and while no exact figures are listed (save for the bundle's October performance, selling a whopping 11.1 million units in that month alone), the other games listed should give you an indication of just how many homes <em>Wii Play</em> has invaded. Taking second place is <em>Guitar Hero III</em>, the first game to earn <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/activision-guitar-hero-iii-is-first-title-to-generate-sales-of/">$1 billion</a> in revenue, followed by <em>Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas</em>. The others in the top ten are generally expected, including Activision's other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/modern-warfare-2-makes-a-billion-dollars/">$1 billion earner</a>, <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> (notable because, damn, that was fast!), along with a pair of other <em>Call of Duty </em>games. Head over to GameSpot for the full list.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/npd-wii-play-is-best-selling-game-of-all-time-in-the-us/">NPD: Wii Play is best selling 'game' of all time in the US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 14:00:00 EST. Looks like people answered the <em>Call of Duty</em> ... by opening up their wallets. Undoubtedly, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/25/analyst-modern-warfare-2-dlc-could-make-140-million-in-2010/"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em> DLC</a> is likely to top 2010's sales figures. Finally, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943"><em>Battlefield 1943</em></a> claims the award for top PSN game of the year, besting the PSN-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fat-princess"><em>Fat Princess</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/call-of-duty-dlc-tops-psns-2009-sales/">Call of Duty DLC tops PSN's 2009 sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Jan 2010 07:15:00 EST. You know what we want for Christmas? A more interesting <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/12/22/live-activity-for-week-of-dec-14th.aspx">Xbox Live Activity top ten</a> to write about. Just as it did the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/xbox-live-top-10-people-apparently-played-cod4-world-at-war/">week of Nov. 9</a>, the <em>Call of Duty</em> franchise has held up three of the top five slots this week, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> in second place and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/grand-theft-auto-iv"><em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em></a> taking the spot formerly held by the <em>Left 4 Dead 2</em> demo.<br />
<br />
As hard as we might wish for a shakeup in the new year, we're not sure what title's going to be the one to do it. Surely we won't see four CoD games in the top five in 2010. Surely.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/xbox-live-top-ten-call-of-duty-holds-3-of-top-5-slots/">Xbox Live Top Ten: Call of Duty holds 3 of top 5 slots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 15:00:00 EST. Activision has solved that tough shopping challenge by bundling all of the game's downloadable maps into one attractive package. The <em>Call of Duty: World at War </em>Map Pack Bundle features "the complete collection of nine multiplayer maps and three co-op Zombie maps from <em>Call of Duty: World at War Map Packs 1-3</em>," for $24.99 on PS3 or 2000<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> on Xbox 360, five dollars off the combined prices of all three packs.<br />
<br />
It's available now in North America, but <em>won't</em> be home for Christmas in Europe, with a release date of January 7. But let's be <em>realistic</em> here: your game doesn't know when Christmas is, so you can be a bit late with gifts.</span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/call-of-duty-world-at-war-dlc-maps-bundled-up/">Call of Duty: World at War DLC maps bundled up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 09:45:00 EST. There's "<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/no-russian">No Russian</a>" <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em></a> off the top spot on the <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">UK sales charts</a>. Infinity Ward's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/modern-warfare-2-breaks-record-with-4-7-million-in-day-one-sales/">mega-hit</a> is killin' terrorists, civilians and retail at a solid tick, despite the seven percent sales drop from the prior week. The FPS has held the high ground for four weeks now, repelling solid competition from the footie fantasies of <em>FIFA 10</em> and the hidden blades of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a>.<br />
<br />
<em>Call of Duty: World at War </em>maintained the number one position on the charts last year for five weeks, before <em>FIFA 09</em> rushed the goal and scored the top spot during Christmas week. Thanks to retail promotions, game of the year candidate <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a> sales surged 122 percent, bringing the Dark Knight back onto the chart in the twenty spot.<br />

Seriously, guys? Everyone on the planet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/modern-warfare-2-breaks-record-with-4-7-million-in-day-one-sales/">runs out and buys <em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> and you're still playing <em>Call of Duty 4 </em>and <em>World at War</em>? We can understand you folks who chose to play <em>Halo 3</em> -- the whole <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> experience may not be your idea of a good time -- but <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/11/17/live-activity-for-week-of-nov-9th.aspx">Major Nelson's Xbox Live activity chart</a> for the week of November 9 simply vexes us.<br />
<br />
In less puzzling news, the XBLA activity is along the lines of something we're used to seeing. <em>Trials HD</em> remains atop the list, followed by <em>Castle Crashers</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-south-park-lucidity/"><em>South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play</em></a>. Konami's <em>Zombie Apocalypse</em> also managed to survive the gauntlet and make its way onto the list and, combined with the recent release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a>, we feel mankind is finally starting to reach acceptable levels of preparation for the inevitable future of a world plagued by the undead.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/xbox-live-top-10-people-apparently-played-cod4-world-at-war/">Xbox Live Top 10: People apparently played CoD4, World at War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 10:30:00 EST. Look, just feign surprise, it makes these financial posts <em>so much more</em> exciting: Activision today reported net revenues of $755 million (on a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generally_Accepted_Accounting_Principles">non-GAAP</a> basis) in the quarter ending September 30, 2009 -- that's $55 million more than the suits hoped to stack, according to previous projections. While the blockbuster adaptation of <em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em> might have played a part in this outpouring of <em>our</em> money, we're gonna go with Kotick's explanation: "Our performance was driven by positive audience response to Activision Publishing's <em>Guitar Hero 5, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2,</em> and the <em>Guitar Hero</em> and <em>Call of Duty</em> franchises, as well as Blizzard Entertainment's <em>World of Warcraft</em>."<br />
<br />
In fact, the CEO called <em>Guitar Hero</em> the year's "#1 best-selling third-party franchise in North America and Europe" through September, claiming that U.S. sales of music games increased 72 percent year over year in September. Last year's big-band-box edition, <em>World Tour, </em>and <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> combined for total, <em>world </em>domination, becoming this year's "#1 and #2 best-selling third-party titles" in North America and Europe through September, according to Activision. Additionally, <em>World at War</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/npd-says-average-cod-world-at-war-player-has-spent-9-on-dlc/">DLC map pack sales</a> continued to climb last quarter and have now surpassed 7.5 million purchases.<br />
<br />
Needless to say, the publisher is not backing off of its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/activision-exceeds-own-expectations-in-fiscal-q2/">prior financial outlook</a>. Activision anticipates annual net revenues of $4.5 billion (on a non-GAAP basis) at the close of the year. Did you remember to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2/">feign surprise</a>?</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/05/guitar-hero-call-of-duty-franchises-lead-activisions-better-t/">Guitar Hero, Call of Duty franchises lead Activision's 'better-than-expected' Q3 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Nov 2009 17:32:00 EST. Looks like this deal isn't just for Xbox 360 owners. Activision has slashed the price of the <em>World at War</em> map packs. As Richard <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/all-cod-world-at-war-map-packs-5-until-nov-1/">noted</a>, "it's just a cash grab before <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em></a> makes everyone forget <em>World at War</em>, but hey, it's hard to argue with cheap."<br /><br />In addition to this sale, all <em>World at War</em> servers will feature double XP. If you want to partake in giving Activision <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/npd-says-average-cod-world-at-war-player-has-spent-9-on-dlc/">even more money</a>, you better hurry up: this deal ends on November 1st.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/all-cod-world-at-war-map-packs-half-off-until-nov-1/">All CoD: World at War map packs half-off until Nov. 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Oct 2009 00:00:00 EST. Remember the report that said the average <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> player <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/npd-says-average-cod-world-at-war-player-has-spent-9-on-dlc/">has spent $9 on DLC</a>? It looks like that number is about to get just a bit higher, as Major Nelson has announced that <em>all</em> of the <em>World at War</em> map packs have been reduced to 400<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($5). That's half of the usual $10 price tag. Taking all three packs together, that's 12 maps for $15, putting them at a buck and a quarter each. Not bad. If you want to snag 'em on the cheap, you have until November 1.<br /> <br /> Sure, it's probably just a cash grab before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em></a> makes everyone forget <em>World at War</em>, but hey, it's hard to argue with cheap. If there were any doubt left in your mind that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> is a popular franchise, a recent report from <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=25743">Gamasutra</a> should firmly cement the fact in your mind. According to the piece, <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/10/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-coming-in-march/">three</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-2-sells-one-million-first-we/">DLC</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/21/third-cod-world-at-war-map-pack-enlists-one-million-on-first-we/">packs</a> digitally pushed 6.5 million units between March and mid-August of 2009 across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.<br /><br />As you might imagine, those kind of numbers add up to a lot of extra revenue for the mega-publisher - the piece approximates a <em>cool $45 million</em>. Taking that one step further, the average cost of each box of <em>CoD: WaW</em> sold at retail becomes $65. We're not sure if that number accounts for the chunk taken out by Microsoft and Sony respectively for distribution, but even cut in half that's still a nice chunk of change. <br /><br />So today, we'd like to officially announce that we're changing the site's name to <em>Call of Duty: Joystiq</em>. Call it a <em>strategic business move</em> - it's all about brand recognition, people!<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> To be clear, the $45 million number is an approximation by Gamasutra, put together with information from NPD, EEDAR, and Activision PR. It was apparently calculated by taking 65% of 7 million units at $10 a piece, without accounting for giveaways or bundles.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/npd-says-average-cod-world-at-war-player-has-spent-9-on-dlc/">Report: Average CoD World at War player has spent $9 on DLC [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 15:43:00 EST. Major Nelson has <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/08/25/live-activity-for-week-of-aug-17th.aspx">revealed the latest figures</a> for Xbox Live activity, which once again sees <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> being the most played Xbox 360 Live title. That's not to say it's all business as usual, as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/demos-for-nhl-10-and-dirt-2-join-lost-planet-2-and-mini-ninjas-o/"><em>Lost Planet 2</em> co-op demo</a> managed to claw its way onto the list, along with a new Xbox Live Arcade pair, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex"><em>Shadow Complex</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd">Trials HD</a></em>.<br /><br />Both titles made it onto the top two spots on XBLA's most played list, with Chair's <em>Metroid</em>-inspired adventure making its debut in first place. The remainder is comprised of usual suspects <em>Battlefield 1943</em>, <em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em> and <em>'Splosion Man</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/25/xbox-live-top-10-dominated-by-shadow-complex-cod/">Xbox Live Top 10 dominated by Shadow Complex, CoD: World at War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. In a very unsurprising turn of events, Activision has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/third-call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-dlc-hits-tomorrow-screens/">the third downloadable map pack</a> for <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> was downloaded over one million times during its first weekend of availability (August 6 - 9). That figure is derived from both Xbox 360 and PS3 downloads. The console war doesn't impede the progress of real war! Real war in the ... game, we guess. That could have been phrased more cleverly.<br /><br />Activision also revealed that all of the game's combined DLC has been downloaded a whopping 6.5 million times, which, based on the price of each pack, comes out to around $65,000,000. It's easy when you just have to multiply by ten!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/21/third-cod-world-at-war-map-pack-enlists-one-million-on-first-we/">Third CoD: World at War map pack enlists one million on first weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. Guys, do you ever play anything aside from four games? <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/08/18/live-activity-for-week-of-aug-10th.aspx">Major Nelson</a> reports that last week's Xbox Live activity was very much the same as the week before ... and the week before that. Taking top spot was none other than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>, followed by usual suspects <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a>. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madden-10"><em>Madden 10</em></a> took last place, which isn't much of a surprise considering it released on Friday. Come next week, we're sure you'll be hearing more about that one.<br /><br />On the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a> side, it was all about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-trials-hd/"><em>Trials HD</em></a>, as the title earned top honors.<em> Turtles in Time Re-Shelled</em> managed to shell shock the competition by taking second and DICE's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943"><em>Battlefield 1943</em></a> continues its sad story of decline, falling to third. Well, okay -- maybe it's not a <a href="http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_1943/archive/2009/07/29/battlefield-1943-the-fastest-selling-downloadable-only-game-ever.aspx"><em>sad story</em></a>, per se.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/xbox-live-top-10-nazi-zombies-run-amok/">Xbox Live Top 10: Nazi zombies run amok</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Aug 2009 11:45:00 EST. As if to bait your thirst all the more, Activision has handed over a new trailer and a handful of screens of the content in question -- "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-3-1/2188738/full/">Battery</a>," "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-3-1/2188739//full">Breach</a>," "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-3-1/2188740//full">Revolution</a>," and new zombie map "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-3-1/2188741//full">Der Riese</a>." <br /><br />More importantly, we'd like to point out that the game's developer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/treyarch">Treyarch</a>, has finally gone all the way off the deep end and thrown in <em>teleporters</em>. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/08/04/live-activity-for-week-of-july-27th.aspx">Major Nelson</a>'s latest battle report comes as a bit of a surprise as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> was the most-played retail game of last week. With all of the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> content, we were sure that game would be at the top, but Epic's title only managed to claw its way to fourth place yet again. It was bested by the usual double dose of <em>Call of Duty </em>action in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>.<br /><br />On the XBLA side, the frenetic tag-based combat of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em></a> was too much for the competition. Capcom's brawler enjoyed top placement, finally bumping down <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943"><em>Battlefield 1943</em></a> to second place. Coming in at third was none other than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man"><em>'Splosion Man</em></a>, Twisted Pixel's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/review-splosion-man/">excellent</a> follow-up to previous Arcade hit, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-maw"><em>The Maw</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/xbox-live-top-10-there-can-be-only-1-17/">Xbox Live Top 10: There can be only 1 (17)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 09:15:00 EST. <div align="left">The third downloadable map pack for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war">Call of Duty: World at War</a> </em>-- titled, oddly enough, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/third-call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-coming-in-august/">Map Pack 3</a>" -- will deploy on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network this Thursday, August 6. It'll run 800<span class="album_title"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /></span> ($10) and $9.99, respectively. It's bringing three new maps on which to make your friends (virtually) dead, along with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/30/zombies-run-amok-in-call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-3-traile/">more undead</a>.<br /><br />In other <em>CoD </em>news, Activision has launched the free <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> <em>Companion </em>app for iPhone [<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=324314533&amp;mt=8">App Store link</a>]. With it, players who've linked their gamertags / PSN IDs to the <em>CoD: WaW</em> site can browse detailed stats, realtime leaderboards and compare their performance against friends. If you've enlisted for duty in all of the previous map packs (a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/world-at-war-dlc-reaches-2-million-downloads/">very real possibility</a>), then you'll probably be foaming at the mouth for this new bit of DLC while watching. Sure, we could sit up here and do our usual <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live-top-10">Xbox Live Top 10</a> thing: Major Nelson <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/07/28/live-activity-for-week-of-july-20th.aspx">posted</a> the Xbox Live activity for last week. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> were winners, and XBLA's most-played game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-1943"><em>Battlefield 1943</em></a>. All is as we expect with the world. However, we feel the Xbox Live Top 10 has a much more notable characteristic this week: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/1-vs-100"><em>1 vs. 100</em></a>!<br />
<br />
Major confirms that Xbox Live's game show will now be incorporated into the weekly lists. We're anxious to see if it will perform better in the future -- not that seventh place is a bad debut.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/xbox-live-top-10-1-vs-100-joins-the-fray/">Xbox Live Top 10: 1 vs. 100 joins the fray</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 11:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> fans' heads are likely still swimming with the thought that they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/13/modern-warfare-2-prestige-edition-includes-working-night-vision/">might own night vision goggles</a> by year's end, but Activision's still cranking out <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> DLC for fans living in the here and now. August will mark the release of the third map pack for the game, the company announced today.<br /><br />As with the second map pack, the three new maps ("Battery," "Revolution," and "Breach") have been developed in conjunction with Certain Affinity, the team of former Bungie guys behind <em>Age of Booty</em>. There's also a new zombie map, "Der Riese," provided for your brain-blasting pleasure.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/third-call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-coming-in-august/">Third Call of Duty: World at War map pack coming in August</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 13:45:00 EST. Downloadable content sure seems to move along a lot faster without all that pesky "certification" getting in the way, huh? It seems like only yesterday that we heard about patch 1.5 for the PC version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Call-of-Duty-World-at-War/" style="font-style: italic;">Call of Duty: World at War</a> </em>-- an update that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/12/next-world-at-war-pc-patch-adds-map-pack-2/">would bring along the Map Pack 2 DLC</a> that console-based Duty-answerers had to pay for a few months ago. We just <a href="http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=29&amp;t=178985">heard word from Treyarch</a>, who explained the update will go live tomorrow. But at what time tomorrow? We may never know. (Okay, fine -- we'll probably know tomorrow.)<br /><br />A full list of changes coming in the patch is after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/call-of-duty-world-at-war-pc-patch-1-5-arrives-tomorrow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Call of Duty: World at War PC patch 1.5 arrives tomorrow</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/call-of-duty-world-at-war-pc-patch-1-5-arrives-tomorrow/">Call of Duty: World at War PC patch 1.5 arrives tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 21:45:00 EST. If your devout WASDing-and-mousing ways have turned you into a frequent player of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> on the PC, you'll be pleased to know that Treyarch hasn't forgotten about you. The oft-downloaded Map Pack 2 that hit Xbox 360 and PS3 last month will be <a href="http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=29&amp;t=177020&amp;sid=2bfa9848056ad67226b90da41cdc62fe">making its way to PCs</a> in <em>World at War</em>'s next update, Patch 1.5.<br /><br />According to Treyarch community manager J.D. (a.k.a. JD_2020 on the Treyarch forums), the patch is "in test right now, and is looking great." For those of you who remained spitefully out of the loop on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/watch-8-minutes-of-the-next-world-at-war-dlc-right-now/">the map bundle</a>, it includes three standard levels -- Bonsai, Corrosion and Sub Pens -- and a swampy, undead-plagued stage called "Shi No Numa," which we believe is Japanese for "Oh crap, Zombies." <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89970">Evil Avatar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/12/next-world-at-war-pc-patch-adds-map-pack-2/">Next World at War PC patch adds Map Pack 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Jul 2009 20:00:00 EST. Xbox Live sure can, Master Chief, as your game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> was once again the most played title on Xbox Live. For the week ending June 29, many gamers took to the floating rings in space for some first-person combat, knocking down the duo of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> to second and third place, respectively. The rest of the list posted by <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/07/07/live-activity-for-week-of-june-29th.aspx">Major Nelson</a> is pretty run-of-the-mill, save for what came in last place: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-2"><em>Rock Band 2</em></a>. We can't remember the last time <em>Rock Band 2</em> populated this list. So, good for you, little game-that-could! <br />
<br />
On the XBLA side, it's all about the <em>Worms 2</em>. Explosive sheep were quite the draw, as the sequel to Team17's fragfest managed to beat out another popular XBLA title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/magic-the-gathering"><em>Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalker</em></a>. And the mighty Xbox Live tug-of-war continues this week as <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/06/30/live-activity-for-week-of-june-22nd.aspx">Major Nelson</a> reports that <em>Halo 3</em> has once again wrangled the top spot from <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>. We'd like to say there were some other -- more interesting -- changes this week, but the rest of the list remains almost completely unchanged. The only other difference is that <em>Fallout 3</em> replaced <em>Prototype</em> at ninth place, knocking the latter to tenth.<br /><br />Don't worry, though, we've got a new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst">Halo</a> </em>game <em>and</em> a new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> game on the way in just a few months. Then we can at least see different iterations of the same series occupying the top two slots. That's something to look forward to, right?<br /><br />[Image: <a href="http://www.pwnordie.com/blog/posts/16488">Pwn or Die]</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/xbox-live-top-10-the-chief-is-back/">Xbox Live Top 10: The Chief is back</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 11:00:00 EST. Dearest Lorraine,<br /><br />Microsoft's <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/06/23/live-activity-for-week-of-june-15th.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has brought us another annual <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live-top-ten">status report</a> on enemy movements throughout Xbox Live, and it's not pretty. Conflict has surrounded us, as the enemy, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war">Call of Duty: World at War</a>,</em> has spread like wildfire, becoming the most-played game last week. We tried to flank it with our platoons of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a>, but, alas, the enemy had reinforcements in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a>. Hope has diminished, and one only needs walk by the injured tent to feel the full force of the enemy's cruelty.<br /><br />Lorraine, I know not if I will return home. I have managed to live longer than most, but, I feel there's that one bullet out there with my name on it, relentlessly pursuing its new home. Please, take care of my Gamertag when I am gone (I think my Gold subscription ends next month, so look into that), and be sure to earn as many Achievements for me as you can. I suggest you start with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/18/avatar-2-minutes-b-button-1000-gamerscore/">Avatar: The Last Airbender</a>.</em><br /><br />Yours Truly,<br />Gus<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/xbox-live-top-10-world-remains-at-war/">Xbox Live Top 10: World remains at war</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 17:15:00 EST. Activision has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>'s second DLC offering has deployed over one million downloads in its first weekend of battle, selling as much in two days as the first DLC pack sold <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/31/world-at-war-dlc-sets-first-week-sales-record-on-xbox-live/">in a week</a>. The one million figure spans both PSN and Xbox Live from June 11 to June 14, and suggests the second DLC offering will easily trump the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/world-at-war-dlc-reaches-2-million-downloads/">two million milestone</a> of the first DLC pack. Who's taking bets?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/call-of-duty-world-at-war-map-pack-2-sells-one-million-first-we/">Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 sells one million first weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Jun 2009 15:57:00 EST. Treyarch's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> has been quite the retail success for Activision, as <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/call-of-duty-world-at-war-passes-11-million-units">Edge</a> has revealed the game has sold a ridiculous 11 million copies across all platforms. And Activision is mighty proud, as the company's strategy of alternating development on the franchise has paid off. Add the success of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/world-at-war-dlc-reaches-2-million-downloads/">the game's DLC</a>, and you've got yourself one nice money-printing machine.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/over-11-million-enlisted-in-call-of-duty-world-at-war/">Over 11 million enlisted in Call of Duty: World at War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Jun 2009 14:45:00 EST. Yeah, we're still work-shopping the name. Anyway, Activision sent a bunch over for the 360, and we thought we'd pass them along to you, our trusted friends. So here's the deal: We've got seven codes, and we've hidden them in other <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty">Call of Duty</a></em>-related posts from the past (just to make things interesting). If you find one and use it, let us know in the comments (and give us the number, if you don't mind). We've got seven to give away, so hopefully everyone will get a shot.<br /><br />So, what are you waiting for? Get clicking! We'll make the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/the-great-call-of-duty-world-at-war-dlc-pack-2-code-hunt/">one easy</a>!<br /><br />[<strong>Update: </strong>OK gang, it looks like all of them were found. After its stellar E3 demonstration, it's had for us to find room in our heart that's <em>not</em> being occupied by <em>Modern Warfare 2</em>. But those of your with bigger hearts than ours (yeah, that's most of you) will be able to welcome a second chunk of DLC for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> into your home tomorrow.<br /><br />For $9.99, you'll get Banzai, Corrosion, Sub Pens and a new zombie battling map, Shi No Numa. It's <strike>eight minutes</strike> footage of next month's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war-dlc/"><em>Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2</em></a>! Alright, alright, it's not the <em>entire</em> map pack, but it does feature the Russian trainyard themed, "Corrosion," as well as "Sub Pens," a map based in a submarine pen. <br /><br />Sure, we'd love to see video of the purported "hell hounds" coming to "Shi No Numa," the Nazi zombie infested part of the DLC, but wouldn't everyone? We're just going to have to wait until some more video hits the webs from <em>WaW</em> developer, Treyarch. For the whole schebang, hit the break and have a ball!<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> The YouTube video after the break has been replaced by a couple of GameSpy videos. Check out all their Map Pack 2 videos <a href="http://media.xbox360.gamespy.com/media/142/14222038/vids_1.html?RSSwhen2009-05-08_174200&amp;RSSid=981362">right here</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, John H.!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/watch-8-minutes-of-the-next-world-at-war-dlc-right-now/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch footage of the next World at War DLC ... right now!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/watch-8-minutes-of-the-next-world-at-war-dlc-right-now/">Watch footage of the next World at War DLC ... right now!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 May 2009 15:20:00 EST.
