Capcom has taken part in an ongoing observation of Mega Man's 25th anniversary with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/29/mega-man-25th-anniversary-statue-up-for-pre-order/">statues</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/06/mega-man-1-ost-now-available-digitally-through-capcom/">soundtrack releases</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/01/arm-your-computer-with-mega-buster-usb-drive/">USB drives</a>, and even an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/08/street-fighter-x-mega-man-is-a-free-pc-8-bit-crossover-availabl/">officially promoted fan game</a>. As we stretch into year two of the 25th anniversary celebration, Capcom is producing a Mega Man-themed case for 3DS and 3DS XL.<br />
<br />
At first blush, outfitting a 3DS in Mega Man garb seems like a cruel tease, after the death of <em>Mega Man Legends 3</em>. But Capcom is releasing all of the NES Mega Mans on the handheld's Virtual Console (it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/new-nintendo-eshop-releases-rayman-legends-challenges-mega-man/?icid=joystiq_3ds_art">up to <em>4</em> now</a>), making an NES-style Mega Man motif appropriate.<br />
<br />
The case will be on sale at Comic-Con, as well as at Capcom's online store.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/01/capcom-encases-3ds-3ds-xl-in-vintage-mega-man-look/">Capcom encases 3DS, 3DS XL in vintage Mega Man look</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 May 2013 11:00:00 EST. The main $79.00 bundle includes the dongle-like console itself, as well as the controller it's stored inside of when not plugged into a television's HDMI port. The GameStick's <a href="http://gamestick.hostedbywebstore.com/GameStick-Dock/dp/B00BCZS6BC">wireless charging dock/port hub</a> and <a href="http://gamestick.hostedbywebstore.com/GameStick-Case/dp/B00BEGJIBG">protective case</a> are both up for pre-order as well, priced at $24.99 and $9.99, respectively.<br /><br />Delivery is expected to begin once an initial run of devices have been shipped to Kickstarter supporters, which is scheduled to take place during April. Currently, the website lists April 30 as the "available on" date for all three items.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/17/gamestick-pre-orders-begin-for-console-and-accessories/">GameStick pre-orders begin for console and accessories</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Feb 2013 12:00:00 EST. Gametrailers, whom Beiswenger sued in the same case, settled with the author on May 18 under undisclosed terms.<br /><br />Beiswenger voluntarily dismissed all action against Ubisoft before any formal adjudication on the validity of his claims could begin - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/novelist-suing-over-assassins-creed-has-his-lawyer-respond-to-g/">the Internet</a> made up its mind about his claims a while ago. Beiswenger has dropped the case, citing the expense of federal litigation:<br /><br />"I filed the Complaint and Motion for Preliminary Injunction in federal court because I believe authors should vigorously defend their rights in their creative works; otherwise, the laws protecting them simply have no purpose," Beiswenger's official statement reads. "Regrettably, the resources required to defend those rights are unavailable to many individual creators. As a result, rampant infringement is occurring with impunity."<br /><br />Beiswenger was seeking $5.25 million in damages and the potential cessation of all Assassin's Creed endeavors, including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-3">third game</a> currently due out in October. Beiswenger filed the dismissal "without prejudice," meaning he can pick up the claims and the case again in the future.<br /><br />If he ever does, we don't think Ubisoft will sweat it too much; the Internet has already done most of the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Link-Beiswenger-John-L/product-reviews/0741413485/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_btm?ie=UTF8&amp;showViewpoints=1&amp;sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending">debunking</a> already, unless Beiswenger can somehow prove that he owns the rights to "spiritual and biblical tones" or "assassinations."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/lawsuit-alleging-copyright-infringement-in-assassins-creed-drop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lawsuit alleging copyright infringement in Assassin's Creed dropped, Gametrailers settles</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/lawsuit-alleging-copyright-infringement-in-assassins-creed-drop/">Lawsuit alleging copyright infringement in Assassin's Creed dropped, Gametrailers settles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 20:40:00 EST. But I don't think there's ever been a Club Nintendo bonus this nice. The <a href="https://club.nintendo.com/rewards-details/a/24002.do">3DS Game Card Case</a> is both beautiful and genuinely useful, holding 18 DS or 3DS games in a case the size of a single DS game box. That's a rarity among DS game cases.<br /><br />The transparent case comes with four reversible covers, for a surprisingly versatile look. I grabbed some random DS and 3DS cartridges from my desk, stored them in the case, and took some pictures so you can see for yourself. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/">3DS Card Case (Club Nintendo)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/#4792278"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/3dscase2201_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/#4792279"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/3dscase2203_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/#4792280"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/3dscase2206_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/#4792281"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/3dscase2208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/3ds-card-case-club-nintendo/#4792282"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/3dscase2209_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/club-nintendo-3ds-card-case-press-shots/">Club Nintendo 3DS Card Case (official shots)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/club-nintendo-3ds-card-case-press-shots/#4792295"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/dsgamecardcasebigimage2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/club-nintendo-3ds-card-case-press-shots/#4792296"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/dsgamecardcasebigimage3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/club-nintendo-3ds-card-case-press-shots/#4792297"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/dsgamecardcasebigimage4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/club-nintendo-3ds-card-case-press-shots/#4792298"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/dsgamecardcasebigimage5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/club-nintendo-card-case-is-worth-the-fake-money/">Club Nintendo card case is worth the fake money</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 19:15:00 EST. Nintendo has found a neat way to make its perforated, environmentally-conscious 3DS packaging into something wonderful. Siliconera snagged an image of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/star-fox-64-3d"><em>Star Fox 64 3D</em></a>'s case, which slips tiny avatars of the game's key players in each hole, Brady Bunch-style.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/15/star-fox-3ds-case-is-environmentally-friendly-in-a-neat-way/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Star Fox 3DS case is environmentally friendly in a neat way</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/15/star-fox-3ds-case-is-environmentally-friendly-in-a-neat-way/">Star Fox 3DS case is environmentally friendly in a neat way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Jul 2011 01:00:00 EST. It has created two cases for Apple's smartphone: "Cockroach Maiden" (left) and "Hallo, Friends" (misspelling intentional, right).<br />
<br />
If the first one seems a little, well, <em>creepy</em>, that <em>is</em> one of the studio's areas of expertise, after all -- have you seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/14/shadows-of-the-damned-concept-art-is-aaah-aaaaah-what/">the stuff it's come up with</a>? The cases are available for shipping within Japan from <a href="http://ghm-store.com/">GhM's merchandise site</a> and run &yen;2100 ($25) apiece.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/17/grasshopper-manufacture-hops-on-the-iphone-case-trend/">Grasshopper Manufacture hops on the iPhone case trend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Apr 2011 19:00:00 EST. The latest game console travel case from <a href="http://www.projectgaems.com/g155/">manufacturer GAEMS</a> -- yes, it's really spelled like that, we promise -- is an unarguably slicker offering than the company's previous products. The pack has room for a 360, 360 S or PS3 Slim console, all the requisite cords and power bricks, a couple of controllers, speakers and a built-in LED monitor -- yet, despite its contents, the GAEMS case isn't the size of a small houseboat. We've only got one, inconceivably nerdy explanation: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bag_of_holding">Bag of Holding</a>. Like, it's gotta be, right?<br />
<br />
The case will be released sometime in June for $300 -- though you can knock $20 off the price by pre-ordering before April 20. We wonder if we could pay an extra $20 to get a product that's spelled correctly. <em>Sheeeesh</em>.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/20/latest-gaems-travel-case-is-well-made-but-poorly-spelled/">Latest GAEMS travel case is well-made but poorly spelled</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Feb 2011 18:30:00 EST. Little known fact: 3-<em>Dee</em> is powered by microscopic hamsters on equally microscopic wheels. Not only does the technology's dependency on living organisms <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/3ds-price-compared-to-other-portable-launches/">jack up the price</a>, it also means that the 3DS will require a constant supply of oxygen. It's a good thing, then, that Walmart's <a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/15735238">3DS pre-order</a> freebie, a Power A-designed case (pictured), has plenty of breathing holes. Just remember to take the device out of its cage every once in awhile -- it needs direct sunlight too!<br />
<br />
You can see more images of the bonus Power A "Flex Case" (a $10 value, you could brag) in Walmart's product gallery. Actually, no -- wait. <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/DescribeBundleComponent.do?bundle_id=15735238&amp;component_id=2">These are</a> ... <em>GoldenEye</em> screenshots?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/21/walmart-wants-your-3ds-pre-order-so-bad-its-throwing-in-this-bo/">Walmart wants your 3DS pre-order so bad it's throwing in this bonus case</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Jan 2011 10:40:00 EST. Just in time for the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet-psp"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> on PSP, <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/+/9554699.p?id=1218123528252&amp;skuId=9554699">Best Buy</a> is selling a $20 accessory pack that includes an <em>LBP</em>-themed case, cleaning cloth, screen protector and a sticker sheet with various Sackboys and Sackgirls. It also includes an elusive Sackboy plushy -- albeit one with slightly deformed proportions.<br />
<br />
NAYIN wrote a <em>very exciting</em> <a href="http://reviews.bestbuy.com/3545a/NAYIN/profile.htm">review</a> for the bundle on the Best Buy website, which we've helpfully reprinted for you here:<br />
<blockquote>
<div>"WELL, I REALLY LIKE LBP BECAUSE ITS AN EXCELLENT GAME FOR THE PS3 AND I REALLY THING I AM GOING TO ENJOY IT NOW WHERE EVER I TAKE IT. SO TO KEEP THE FUN WHY NOT DEMONSTRATED WITH THIS PARTICULAR DESIGNED CASE THAT LIKE I SAID THE CAFE-BROWN COLOR IS SUPER IN FOR THIS SEASON."</div>
</blockquote>So not only will you be showing your dedication to <em>LBP</em> with this accessory pack, you'll be SUPER FASHIONABLE. Thanks, NAYIN!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/littlebigplanet-psp-accessory-pack-on-sale-at-best-buy/">LittleBigPlanet PSP accessory pack on sale at Best Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 18:31:00 EST. Our problem isn't that we're waffling on whether or not to buy <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27127238&amp;ref=sr_gallery_7&amp;&amp;ga_search_query=iphone+sleeve&amp;ga_search_type=handmade&amp;ga_page=3&amp;order=date_desc&amp;includes[]=tags&amp;includes[]=title">one of these</a> gorgeous, felt, PlayStation One-shaped iPhone cases. Our problem is that we can't <em>stop</em> buying them. Every time we confirm our order we think of yet another reason we need one. What if we lose the first one in a house fire? What if we want our iPhone to have a different yet identical outfit for every day of the week like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug">Doug Funnie</a>?<br /><br />We hope you understand our predicament. You're no longer limited to the choice between one DS game you can't afford and a variety of card cases -- now Nintendo has a <em>card case you can't afford.</em><br /><br />For 700 hard-earned Coins, you can get a Club Nintendo-exclusive silver DS card case, designed to hold 6 game cards (it would take 23 DS game purchases to acquire 700 Coins). The case comes with an aluminum stylus, which is at least a little awesome.<br /><br />By the way, if you haven't signed in for a while, check it out -- we had a bunch of new Post-Play Surveys waiting for us, in some cases for games we bought years ago.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=73661">GoNintendo</a>]<br /><br />

The prosecution said the attack was provoked when his father forbade him from playing <em>Halo 3, </em>and yeah, you can probably guess where this is going ...<br /><br />In his sentencing, as transcribed by <a href="http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/01/13/judge-comes-down-hard-video-games-halo-3-murder-trial">GamePolitics</a>, Lorain County judge James Burge intimated that he believes -- "as a human being ... and not a jurist" -- that gaming can elicit similar physiological responses and addictions as some drugs (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/editorial-compares-gaming-to-heroin-teen-pregnancy/">sound familiar</a>?). He further decried the creation of a delusional environment. The quote that's currently <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&amp;q=%22I%20firmly%20believe%20that%20Daniel%20Petric%20had%20no%20idea%20at%20the%20time%20he%20hatched%20this%20plot%20that%20if%20he%20killed%20his%20parents%2C%20they%20would%20be%20dead%20forever.%22&amp;aq=f&amp;oq=">making the rounds</a> is, "I firmly believe that [Petric] had no idea at the time he hatched this plot that if he killed his parents, they would be dead forever." In other words: Petric didn't realize there are no respawns in real life, according to Judge Burge.<br /><br />Of course, attributing <em>Halo 3</em> as a causation of these crimes is probably reaching, especially when most of the other <a href="http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6964&amp;region=All">6.4 million</a> who bought the game seem to be of sound mind. We're no psychologists, but to us it seems this is about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/26/study-video-games-may-incite-angry-players-to-violence/">wrong mind</a> and the right catalyst inciting the most heinous of actions -- whether it be Master Chief, Niko Bellic, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(Manson_scenario)">The Beatles</a>, or a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Son_of_sam">German Shepherd</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/halo-3-murder-trial-judge-links-games-to-addiction-delusions/">Halo 3 murder trial: Judge links games to addiction, delusions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 14:54:00 EST. Apple users have long gloated that Nintendo's sleek new form factor with the DS looked great alongside their Apple products, but it looks like the DS can be made to fall in with other products, too. BenHeck.com forumite goteking produced this awesome Vaio-branded DS Lite by setting the logo into a replacement shell. The result looks pretty nice next to his laptop. <br /><br /><br /><br /> [Via <a href="http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?t=26772">BenHeck.com forums</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/02/nintendo-vaio-lite-for-people-who-want-to-match/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo Vaio Lite, for people who want to match</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/02/nintendo-vaio-lite-for-people-who-want-to-match/">Nintendo Vaio Lite, for people who want to match</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Jan 2009 11:30:00 EST. We're not about to complain, and nor should you (if you want to feel sorry for somebody, Australia's Club Nintendo scheme has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/australian-club-nintendo-still-not-functional/">gone AWOL</a>, and check out South Africa's piss-poor <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.za/NOE/en_ZA/club_nintendo/stars_catalogue_5823.html">Stars Catalogue</a>).<br /><br />Anyway, as these are happy times for North Americans, we thought we'd reflect on some of the <em>bestest</em> Club Nintendo gifts and trinkets from both Japan and Europe to date -- some of which <em>could </em>end up in the U.S.! Hit the gray button to start DS Fanboy's whirlwind Club Nintendo Tour of Wonders!<br /><br />

From cases to bits of cutesy fluff, there's a lot that can be done with a crochet hook and a little yarn. There are hundreds -- no, probably thousands -- of truly excellent DS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/case">cases</a> floating around. No matter your taste, style, or brand of fandom, you can almost certainly find something that suits you. In fact, around here, we have time settling on just one case per DS. The sheer number of options can be overwhelming.<br /><br />On the flip side, you can make a DS case out of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/12/show-and-tell-dont-throw-that-game-boy-away/">just</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/02/we-never-thought-wed-see-a-hot-pink-duct-tape-case/">about</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/11/keep-you-ds-clean-while-you-eat-dinner/">anything</a>. You can even stick it naked into your pocket or bag and depend on luck. Considering all this, here's our question today: how much money do you think you've spent on cases for your DS(es)? If you're one of the lucky ones who can answer "none" who isn't also carrying around a DS in a sock, then our kudos to you!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/ds-daily-encasement/">DS Daily: Encasement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 09:00:00 EST. Call it dumb luck, but we caught that ever-elusive striped shirt aficionado taking a break from the PAX 2008 showfloor to play some <em>Team Fortress 2</em> (we'd love to say he was playing as the appropriately-elusive spy, but we think it was actually Heavy class). Also spotted amongst the masses of giant modded PCs, a lone MacBook Pro. Check out some more crazy sightings from the BYOC (that's "Bring Your Own Computer") room.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/">PAX 2008: Awesome PC mods</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/#1007788"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7340_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/#1007787"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7339_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/#1007786"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7351_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/#1007785"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7348_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-awesome-pc-mods/#1007784"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7346_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/">PAX 2008: Cosplay (Full)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010625"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7529_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010624"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7520_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010623"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7519_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010622"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dscf7518_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pax-2008-cosplay/#1010621"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/dsc_0701cos_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/seen-pax08-lan-room-waldo-and-a-lonely-macbook/">Seen@PAX08 LAN room: Waldo and a lonely MacBook</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 04:00:00 EST. Maybe sometimes, you don't really want to flaunt your status as a gamer. Maybe you like to do so sometimes, or with certain groups of friends, or maybe you just like being mysterious. No matter your reasons, if you have any interest in keeping your true love at least a little hidden, then this week's Show and Tell should provide you with lots of ideas for keeping your hobbies close to your chest. Geek crafts often start with things you can put on your own body, or on the "bodies" of the things you care about (like your DS!). From <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/wear-this-bob-omb-jewelry-at-a-safe-distance/">jewelry</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/17/more-fan-created-phoenix-wright-ace-apparel/">clothes</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/zombees-case-will-stay-in-your-head-in-your-head/">cases</a>, we've seen a lot of wearables in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/show-and-tell/">history of Show and Tell</a>, so for the second week in our new format, it only seemed sensible to revisit one of the most popular types of fan-made objects. Each week, we'll show off a new set of Nintendo-inspired projects, and this week, we're starting with the basics: recipes and ingredients. Every creation has to begin <em>somewhere</em>, after all. Your journey can start <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-recipe-edition/971479/">right here</a>.<br /><br /><br />

Congrats, folks! Start working on filling up those pouches (as soon as they arrive, of course), unless you've already got a pile of games. If so, well, additional cases are cheap! To everyone else: better luck next time. When you're looking for a case for your DS, or another non-gameplay-oriented accessory (strap, screen cleaner, sticker, etc.), do you tend toward mass-produced products, like the generally excellent ones from Hori or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/finally-ds-lite-accessoies-for-gothic-lolitas/">Keys Factory</a>, or the <a href="http://renchi.com/renchi/NINTENDO_DS_DS_Lite_Accessories_DS_Lite_Slipon_Puff_Case_Blue_Tomy_Licensed.htm">bizarre puffy ones</a> from Tomy? Or do you prefer a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/rest-your-ds-in-these-oldschool-pouches/">one-of-a-kind</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/18/recipe-for-a-smile-grab-one-of-these-cases/">homemade</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/this-case-is-hungry-for-handhelds/">item</a> from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/cases-critterized/">Etsy</a>?<br /><br />Or are you like us -- you <em>would</em> prefer a nice handmade one, but for whatever reason you bought a Hori case instead, and now you feel kind of guilty for some unspecified reason? You're probably not like us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/04/ds-daily-case-couture/">DS Daily: Case couture</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Aug 2008 09:00:00 EST. So, right now you can <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pu-pin-dsf-jul.png">win</a> a Penguin United case that will hold twenty-four DS carts, but how does it look doing so? How's it hold up? Is it worth overcoming horrendous feelings of laziness in order to click the link to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pu-pin-dsf-jul.png">contest</a>? We unboxed a bunch of games in an attempt to find out.<br /><br />A game case really only needs one thing: a place to securely hold games. Everything else, including cuteness, is basically extra, even if we consider it essential (and oh, <span style="font-style: italic;">we do</span>). We know the Penguin United cases are cute. We know they hold a lot of games. But are they worthwhile? The short answer is yes. The long answer is full of misdeeds, games, and vinyl, and is located after the break.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/essential-extras-penguin-united-24x-gaming-pouch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Essential Extras: Penguin United 24x Gaming Pouch</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/essential-extras-penguin-united-24x-gaming-pouch/">Essential Extras: Penguin United 24x Gaming Pouch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Jul 2008 15:00:00 EST. Have a lot of games and nowhere to keep them? Six lucky readers are about to have all their problems solved, as we've got six of the awesome <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/04/march-of-the-penguin-unlimited-case/">Penguin United cases</a> (currently valued at <a href="http://www.penguinunited.com/product_info.php?products_id=40&amp;osCsid=9js929fankse75vgib8pe0uoc1">$14.99</a>) that can hold up to twenty-four DS carts. Also, they've got a <em>penguin</em> on 'em. That's unbeatable.<br /><br />What do you need to do to win? Just leave a comment on this post and let us know how many DS games you have. If you can't fill up the pouch, it won't hurt you (you'll just be <em>shamed</em>), so don't worry! You may enter <strong>once per day</strong> and the contest will run through Sunday, August 3rd; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose six winners in a random drawing. To enter, you must be <strong>18 or older</strong>, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/official-giveaway-rules/">official rules</a>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/ds-fanswag-penguin-united-24x-gaming-pouch/">DS Fanswag: Penguin United 24x Gaming Pouch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 09:45:00 EST. <br />If sewing dark lace onto your system cases and painting your handheld supplements black and pink to accompany your <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_Lolita">GothLoli look</a> sounds too laborsome and time-consuming, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/keys-factory">Keys Factory</a> has just the solution for your unique needs -- Infem.In, a new and complete accessory line designed to match your dark Victorian livery.<br /><br />Available in Japan starting July 31st, the new DS Lite set features a stylus, a card case (which holds 4 carts), a hard cover, a system pouch, an LCD cleaner with a case, and a pair of screen protectors, almost all of them painted black and pink, decorated with hearts and ornate accents. Each item is sold separately, with <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-19-49-en-15-infem.in.html">prices at import shop Play Asia</a> ranging from $6.90 to $14.90.<br /><br />Interestingly, Keys Factory has set up an official site just for this specific line, offering up a slick Flash presentation for the products, wallpaper downloads, and even a sliding tile puzzle mini-game. We had no idea that we needed a new system case adorned with undead bees before today, but this latest creation from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/craft">craftster</a> Mimi helped us identify that missing vital component of our gaming life. She has also created a similar pouch with a Kokeshi doll theme, which you can fawn over in our gallery below.<br /><br />Mimi's pricing for the two items have a bit of sting of them -- &pound;13.99 each (approx. $27.70), plus shipping from the UK -- but it's to be expected with a lovable honeycomb print like this. In addition to inside pockets and popper closures, the cases feature soft felt lining to keep your DS Lite cozy. Really, it's the <em>zombee's knees</em>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/">Eskimimi Cases</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/#937299"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/20080721-eskimimi-cases-ec-dsf-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/#937298"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/20080721-eskimimi-cases-ec-dsf-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/#937297"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/20080721-eskimimi-cases-ec-dsf-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/#937296"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/20080721-eskimimi-cases-ec-dsf-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/eskimimi-cases/#937295"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/20080721-eskimimi-cases-ec-dsf-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/zombees-case-will-stay-in-your-head-in-your-head/">Zombees case will stay in your head, in your head</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 23:00:00 EST. These particular cases are themed just fine, but it's nothing we've seen before. Etsy craftsperson filmfatale has gone for a generic "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/this-case-is-hungry-for-handhelds/">critters</a>" design. Someone might filch the idea and use critters in an upcoming game ... which would spawn a disturbing merchandising cycle. Coming soon from a developer near you -- Critters: The Case: The Game: The Case.<br /><br />Some materials used here are none other than recycled clothing (among other suitable fabrics). That's a pretty good idea. In fact, anyone with a leftover surplus of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji/748862/">puffy shirts</a> or parachute pants should probably get to work, because homemade cases are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/02/ya-rly-another-homemade-case/">all the rage</a>. Wikipedia describes Domo -- the brown, open-mawed creature depicted above -- as "a strange creature that hatched from an egg." Other details: he lives in a cave with Mr. Usaji, he dislikes apples, and he loves <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYv11Wpo1cU">Guitar Wolf</a>, a Japanese garage punk band. From what my wife tells me, they used to put on some really wicked shows.<br /><br />For this week's installment of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/the-ds-life/">The DS Life</a>, we will examine Domo's life in three different acts:<br />
<ol>
    <li>Domo as a DS gamer</li>
    <li>Domo as a DS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/case/">case</a></li>
    <li>Domo as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/piano">pianist</a></li>
</ol>
If you've never taken the time to learn more about the "internet meme" figure, here's your chance! There's more to Domo than just his cavernous mouth!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/the-ds-life-domo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The DS Life: Domo</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/the-ds-life-domo/">The DS Life: Domo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jul 2008 23:59:00 EST. When creativity and originality meet cuteness, you know you have a great DS case on your hands. Take this hungry-looking fleece and felt DS cover, for instance. If you're going to be carrying around your DS and making sure it's protected, you might as well do it with style.<br /><br />Made-to-order by <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=93239">Etsy craftster Kfarrell</a>, you can pick whatever fabric and pompom colors your little heart desires (as long as she carries them, of course). The case will set you back $20, but for a handmade craft (and a cool one at that), we think the price is pretty reasonable.<br /><br />Hit up the gallery below to see two different versions of this case monster -- maybe that will help you come up with some interesting color schemes of your own, if you happen to find this as awesomely adorable as we do.<br /><br />Nom nom nom.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/this-case-is-hungry-for-handhelds/">This case is hungry for handhelds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Jul 2008 22:00:00 EST. As an alternative to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/27/carry-four-extra-memory-sticks-with-umemd/">UMEMD</a>, <a href="http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/pspcell/diary/200807080000/">PSPGadgetZ</a> suggests you check out this other UMD-slot, slip-in memory stick holder for your PSP. Previously, the UMEMD could only be used inside the PSP-1000 models (fat ones); however, this new gadget can be used with both the fat and slim models. The only drawback is that this one can only hold two memory sticks -- half the UMEMD's capacity of four.<br /><br />It looks like you can't currently buy this thing alone either; it comes together as part of other PSP accessories. You can check them out <a href="http://www.hori.jp/items/detail.php?id=623">here</a> and <a href="http://www.visavis.jp/shop/WebObjects/vv.woa/wa/dpp/01233001700/">here</a> if you're interested. Sometimes, it takes us a while to get to submissions in Show and Tell -- we get so many great ones! -- but we do <em>try</em> to get there. Reader Weixin sent pictures of this awesome homemade case back in January, when the thick fabric was just perfect for a winter snuggle. Now, in July, when the hot days make us sleeeepy, this cushy case looks like it could double as a pillow for afternoon naps. <br /><br />After taking a World Crafts course, Weixin figured it was time to learn to sew, and this was the first project she undertook, with the help of her mother. Even with a little motherly assistance, it came out astonishingly well. The first time <span style="font-style: italic;">I</span> sewed anything, I ended up tangled in thread and bleeding all over the place, so an actual functioning result is pretty impressive -- and attractive, too!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/show-and-tell-first-times-the-charm/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Show and Tell: First time's the charm</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/03/show-and-tell-first-times-the-charm/">Show and Tell: First time's the charm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. The case : cartridge size ratio for DS games is like 300 : 1. You could fit a huge pile of the tiny games inside a single case, but then there's a grand total of one secure slot. A bit of overkill for the cases, then, but the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/22/the-history-of-dragon-quest-iv-boxart/">awesome boxart</a> on most games needs to be acknowledged -- so no smaller, please.<br /><br />Leave it to the rest of us to solve this problem, Nintendo. A handy little uber-case has been found, and you can secure 16 DS carts inside with ease. It comes in clear, pink or black, and retails for around eight dollars. Much better price than some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/cases-in-point-ds-lite/">other accessories</a>. Check out some more images after the break, and head to the <a href="http://209.85.171.104/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=ja&amp;u=http://www.hori.jp/products/dsl/dsl_cardcase16/&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG">official accessory page</a> for extra goodies.<br /><br />It's settled, then. You'll have your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/21/show-and-tell-beware-tears-of-jealousy-ahead/">brilliant stack</a> of DS games all lined up nice and pretty, so visitors will realize how cool you are when they drop by. Little do they know, the cartridges will be stored safely in your bag! Find a mega-case and get efficient, because Nintendo <em>wants you to</em>. Alternatively, check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/show-and-tell-let-us-show-you-them/">best of our collection</a> and try to one-up those wacky devices with your own DIY concoction.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/16-in-1-ds-case-is-accountingly-efficient/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>16-in-1 DS case is accountingly efficient</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/16-in-1-ds-case-is-accountingly-efficient/">16-in-1 DS case is accountingly efficient</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jun 2008 21:00:00 EST.
