To that end, they've placed almost every great indie game from the last few years (no kidding) on sale, on the various app and game stores that you see above. Whether you're looking for games <a href="http://www.becausewemay.com/direct.html">direct from their developers</a>, on <a href="http://www.becausewemay.com/ios.html">iOS</a> or <a href="http://www.becausewemay.com/play.html">Android</a>, or on the <a href="http://www.becausewemay.com/mac.html">Mac App Store </a>or <a href="http://www.becausewemay.com/steam.html">Steam</a>, there are tons of great sales for you to take advantage of, and probably more coming.<br /> <br /> Let's spend $15, for example: Buy <em><a href="http://bittripgame.com/">Bit Trip Runner</a></em> from the developers for $3.99, pick up <em><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/waking-mars/id462397814?mt=8&amp;uo=4">Waking Mars</a></em> on the iPad for $1.99, grab <em><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/psychonauts/id459476769?mt=12">Psychonauts</a></em> on the Mac for five bucks, and pick up both <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/7135/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1"><em>Penny Arcade</em> titles</a> for $3.99. That's five great games for less than the price of a movie ticket.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/24/because-we-may-sale-starts-today/">Because We May sale starts today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 May 2012 23:59:00 EST. The newest iteration in the terrific <em>Ratchet and Clank</em> series is going for quality over quantity -- Sony has announced that the game will release for $15 on the PSN sometime this summer, and will feature "a shorter game at a lower price." The game will describe what happens to Clank after the end of <em>Ratchet and Clank: Future</em>, and will serve as a "great introduction to what <em>R&amp;C</em> is all about."<br /><br />No official date yet ("just this summer"), but looks like some good and cheap <em>Ratchet and Clank</em> fun.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/ratchet-and-clank-quest-for-booty-14-99-this-summer/">Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty $14.99 this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jul 2008 15:18:00 EST. <div align="left">It's interesting, now, to look back on the PS3's troubled first year. People complained that it had no games (a criticism only the criminally insane would dare make nowadays), that Blu-ray wasn't a proven format (which has since been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/toshiba-officially-bows-out-of-next-gen-format-war/">proved</a>) and that the price was too high. Now, however, Play.com have dropped the 40GB PS3 to its lowest price ever, beating out the competition by &pound;70. You can head on over to the site <em>right now</em> and pick one up for only &pound;230. That includes free shipping. Bargain!<br /><br />It's worth noting that the Xbox 360 Elite currently costs &pound;250 on the same site, so there's no contest between which is the better deal. We expect people to jump at this price, so if you're on the fence (and a UK resident) now might be the perfect time to re-evaluate a purchase.<br /><br /><strong>[Update] </strong>Looks like this was a mistake! Play.com has updated the price to &pound;289.99. Looks like it really <em>was</em> too good to be true. <br /><br />[Thanks Wilester]</div>

Example: <em>Namco Museum Remix</em> is on there, as it's priced at a modest $19.99, but if it's anything like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/wii-fanboy-review-namco-museum-remix/">Wii version</a>, you might not want it. Of course, it did receive <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/namcomuseumds">better scores</a> than its console cousin, so it might be safe. But you also get gems like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/readers-choice-the-best-of-2007/"><em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em></a> and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/08/faced-with-nerf-or-nothing-we-choose-nerf/">Nerf</a> DS armor, so can you really go wrong? There's a hidden bonus of <em>saving money</em> as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/ds-gifts-on-the-cheap/">DS gifts on the cheap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Dec 2007 19:00:00 EST. Well, did you know the PSP also has rather large speakers systems itself? And right now, you can pick up the Pysclone Nodus Speaker System for $15 shipped at <a href="http://www.newdaynewdeal.com/">NewDayNewDeal.com</a>.<br /><br />Powered by two 15-watt speakers, the Psyclone Nodus also doubles as a PSP docking station allowing you to recharge your PSP while watching videos or listening to your favorite mp3s. You better hurry up, though, because this deal ends tonight at midnight.<br /><br /><strong>Note:</strong> This will most likely not be compatible with the PSP-2000.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158243">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/04/deal-of-the-day-psyclone-nodus-psp-speaker-system-10/">Deal of the Day: Psyclone Nodus PSP Speaker System $10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Nov 2007 13:00:00 EST. We know Sony probably has a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/40gb/">new PS3 model</a> in the works, but this is just plain ol' silly. Could the left-for-dead 20GB PS3 be making a triumphant return from the grave? If <a href="http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1&amp;product%5Fid=020071">EB Games' website</a> is to be believed, it could seem so as the retailer lists the stripped-down model for only $450, which is about $50 more than the rumored 40GB unit.<br /><br />Most likely, the company is trying to burn through some of its old stock or it's just a mistake, but hey, if you really need a cheaper PS3 right now, why not take the plunge?<br /><br />[via <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/ebgames-com-lists-20gb-ps3-as-available-46874.phtml">Destructoid</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/29/eb-games-still-has-20gb-ps3s-available/">EB Games still has 20GB PS3s available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Sep 2007 19:00:00 EST. If you're not quite ready to make the jump to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-2000/">PSP-2000</a> or just need a spare system for some "extra curricular" activities, you should know Gamestop is selling used original PSPs for only $100.<br /><br />This deal doesn't work online, so you'll have to get off the couch and actually go down to the store. There's nothing like spending a little time in Japan for expanding your gaming collection, as reader Manuel learned firsthand. He told us he spent ten weeks there a couple of years back, and he found himself in gaming heaven -- loads of nifty, cheap items just itching to be smuggled away under cover of night. Okay, that part probably wasn't necessary (also, we made it up), but everyone needs a little excitement in their life, right?<br /><br />It was the prices that enchanted Manuel as much as the availability, he says. The most expensive item in these pictures was a brand-new N64 for just &yen;1980 -- only sixteen dollars under current exchange rates -- and the cheapest were as low as &yen;20, which translates to about <em>seventeen cents</em>. That's an irresistible bargain for even the most frugal gamer! No wonder he started piling things up! <br /><br />Got some interesting gaming swag you want to show off? We'd love to see it! Just take some pictures and send them to <strong>showmeit <strong>[at]</strong> dsfanboy [dot] com</strong>. We'll take care of the rest<strong>.<br /></strong><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/manuels-gear-from-japan/">Manuel's gear from Japan</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/manuels-gear-from-japan/#319003"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/showtell0719_manuel2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/manuels-gear-from-japan/#319002"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/showtell0719_manuel1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><strong></strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/19/show-and-tell-imports-the-easy-way/">Show and Tell: Imports the easy way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jul 2007 14:50:00 EST. It's a pretty safe assumption, we think, that something called <em>Carnival Games</em> won't turn out to be an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RPG/">RPG</a> or a fighting game, right?<br /><br />We don't necessarily blame Global Star for (allegedly) taking the easy way out, because they do budget games, but we feel like we should deliver the following message to publishers: <em>stop making minigames. </em>At least put a year-long moratorium on them. Let's try to diversify the Wii library a little.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/08/rumor-carnival-games/">Rumor: Carnival Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 May 2007 13:00:00 EST. How's a couple of bucks suit you?<br /><br />Ubisoft is redefining the term "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budget_range">budget software</a>" with the recent British release of three classic (read: old) PC games for just &pound;1 (about $2 US). They're selling a whole slew of DS games for $24. <br /><br />Games from $29.99 and up have been reduced in price, allowing those of you who've perhaps stayed away from some of those $34.99-priced games to get down off that fence and get to the purchasing. Games in the sale include <em>Diddy Kong Racing</em>, <em>Elite Beat Agents</em> and <em>Spectrobes</em>. And that's just what we're seeing in the ad!<br /><br />So, do you plan on taking Target up on their offer? <br /><br />[Thanks, James; via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/25/target-24-ds-game-sale/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/26/games-on-sale-at-target/">Games on sale at Target</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Mar 2007 15:00:00 EST. That translates into roughly $296 USD. Not a bad deal at all, but quantities are limited, as of this writing they have only 193 consoles in stock. The site lists the packaging as OEM, which stands for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_equipment_manufacturer">Original Equipment Manufacturer</a>. That explains the extreme discount on the Xbox, since there isn't a middleman jacking up the price for their own profit. In any case, if you're a fellow <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoser">hoser</a> fanboy and want to get your hands on some cheap Xbox 360 hardware, here's your ticket. Anyone going to capitalize on the deal "while supplies last"?<br /><br />[Thanks, So Naive, eh?]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/25/great-white-north-deal-on-xbox-360/">Great (White North) Deal on Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Jan 2007 16:00:00 EST. As such, the library of playable games from launch is actually quite large. But how is one to discern the hidden gems amongst such a vast field? Worry not, fair readers: we're here to help.<br /><br />Let's be fair: you're here reading Nintendo Wii Fanboy, for goodness' sake, so you probably know about absolute wonders such as <em>Super Smash Bros Melee, Metroid Prime, </em>and <em>The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker</em>. These games, of course, must be played under penalty of death. What follows are <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">fifteen</span> fourteen of our personal recommendations, leading you from the AAA-released to barely known wonders of the little purple box. Most of these games can still be found, used, at many outlets nationwide. Take a look, and buy a game! We believe in you.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/05/staff-recommendations-gamecube/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Staff recommendations: Gamecube</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/05/staff-recommendations-gamecube/">Staff recommendations: Gamecube</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Jan 2007 17:00:00 EST. Well, it looks like a new round may be upon us as <a href="http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4989941?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG">Outpost</a> is offering a 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo for a measly $90 after rebate. And to make the deal even better, there's even an offer for free shipping. Can't beat that.<br /><br />It's amazing how quickly the Memory Sticks are dropping in price since it was only January when the <a href="http://www.memorystick.com/en/events/ces2006/exhibit.html">4GB and 8GB sticks were unveiled</a>. With this rate, the 32MB sticks Sony bundled with the PSP will be virtually worthless, if they aren't already.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109829">Cheapassgamer</a> - Registration required]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/02/deal-of-the-day-4gb-memory-stick-pro-duo-90/">Deal of the day: 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo $90</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Oct 2006 11:00:00 EST. I'm not too sure how import friendly any of these games are, and quite frankly, there are a few of them on the list I'm not familiar with at all. However, with the incredibly cheap prices of <em>King's Field </em>and <em>Myst</em>, it looks like I may have to pull the trigger.<br /><br />Click <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-17-71-3-74-16y-49-en-50-17.html">here</a> for the full page of recenly discounted games across all platforms.<br /><br />(Via <a href="http://play-asia.com">Play-Asia</a>)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/15/deal-of-the-day-new-round-of-psp-price-drops-at-play-asia/">Deal of the day: New round of PSP price drops at Play-Asia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Sep 2006 14:00:00 EST. It turns out he also has a few shopping tips that don't involve skee ball:<br /><br /><em>Xbox Live Gold subscription cards for 12+1 months are available for $35.82 [from Wal-mart.com] (and have been for a couple of weeks). While it's a great deal, $6.99 for basic shipping takes the fun out of it.<br /><br />The solution? Print out the Walmart ad and take it to Circuit City for their generous price match. Thirteen months of XBL Gold for $35.82. Nice.<br /><br />Secondly, while I liked to keep this lesser known tip under my hat, screw Best Buy. They will probably change this eventually, so let's stick it to them while we can.<br /><br />The trick to getting 1600 MS Points for $14.99? The BBY GGC or Best Buy Gamer Gift Card. These gift cards are near the check out, in cd jewel case type packaging. The bonus here is that there is a $5.00 off any game accessory $19.99 and up coupon in the packaging. Buy gift card, putting $5 or $10 on it, then go back through with your gift card, $5 coupon and 1600 MS Points.<br /><br /></em>Not a bad way to pay for <em>Cloning Clyde</em> and <em>Streetfigher 2</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/24/shopping-tips-from-dave-and-busters-hero/">Shopping tips from Dave &amp; Buster's hero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Jul 2006 04:30:00 EST. In the case of <em>Half-Life 2: Episode One</em> that means $20 for about 5 or so hours of Gravity Gun-wielding fun. Err, rather, that <em>meant</em> $20 for 5 hours but, if you cash in on the current <a href="http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/Default.aspx?action=browsepagelarge&amp;storeid=2397066&amp;rapid=279100&amp;pagenumber=8">promotion</a> at retailing box-store Circuit City, you'll nab it for the low, low price of $8! That's like $1.60/hour if you're good. If you suck, you're talking about a pretty phenomenal dollar to hour investment. <br /><br />The jig is up June 17th, and it isn't available online, so you best get going before the eBayers start grabbing em all. Indeed, at this stage in their evolution, they can smell a deal; their senses are acutely tuned to major retail discounts. For anyone who's already purchased a copy, don't feel bad ... cause you got to play yours earlier, right? Alright, you can feel bad.<br /><br />[Thanks, Andy; via <a href="http://www.insanecentral.com/2006/06/14/half-life-2-episode-one-for-799/">Insane Central</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/14/hl2-e1-for-8-means-you-have-to-buy-it/">HL2: E1 for $8 means you have to buy it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jun 2006 16:55:00 EST. Circuit City will likely match the price if you bring in the ad.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/12/ms-first-party-titles-for-29-99/">MS first party titles for $29.99</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Jun 2006 00:45:00 EST. GamesIndustry.biz suggests that Sony won't be selling the cut down model over the pond, although this isn't confirmed. The PS3's price in England is higher than the console's price in the United States and Europe but we're not entirely surprised by this: British consumers are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/08/17/european-pricing-for-the-xbox-360-revealed/">used to paying more</a> for their consoles (although traditionally the U.K. gets identical or lower prices compared to Europe). Here's a breakdown of the U.K. premium over U.S. and EU prices:<br />
<ul>
    <li>&pound;109 more than the U.S. "Premium" PS3: the U.S. price is $599 which converts to &pound;316. Take this away from &pound;425 and you're left with a &pound;109 premium.</li>
    <li>&pound;20 more than the EU "Premium" PS3: the EU price is 599 EUR which converts to &pound;405. Take this away from &pound;425 and you're left with a &pound;20 premium</li>

(Hint: the obvious alterations concern <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/29/hdmi-issues-at-gdc-or-simply-no-cable/">high-def output</a> and wireless connectivity -- though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/09/ps3-pad-loses-dualshock-name-and-vibration-but-picks-up-wii-esqu/">Bluetooth controllers</a> should work just fine with both, with or without any chrome case highlighting.)<br /><br />So what's HDMI, built-in multimedia card-reader slots, wireless internet connectivity, and an extra 40 gigabytes' hard disk space worth to you? $100? Now that Sony's gone with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/03/rumor-roundup-more-than-one-ps3-sku/">the 2-SKU approach</a> with its next-gen hardware (a la the Xbox 360's <em>premium</em> and "Core" systems), we can expect some tough consumer choices after six months -- with console shortages possibly for another six months after that -- as $100 separates the <em>base</em> $499 and <em>premium</em> $599 versions of Sony's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/playstation-3-in-its-final-form/">Clear Black</a>" hope.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/25/hddvd/">HDMI is important</a> to those who want to take full advantage of Blu-ray high def and have the new screens to use it; MemoryStick, SD, and CompactFlash slots would be nice for the PS3 memory-card users and those will run multimedia on the system; Wi-Fi's the only way to avoid stringing ethernet cables for online access; and 360 owners might appreciate the full 60GB available to potential buyers of the <em>premium</em> PS3 model. Neither model comes with a second HDMI port; thankfully, one should hopefully be all most users need. The details are laid out in a feature-comparison table at the end of Sony's official PS3 hardware press release, available in both <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/060509ae.pdf">Adobe Reader</a> and <a href="http://presscenter.playstation.com/Content/detailslots/1339/PS3%20US%20FINAL%20-%20PS3%20Lttrhead.doc">Microsoft Word</a> formats. Determine what's most important to your PS3 ambitions there.<br /><br />[Image pieced together from <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&amp;message.id=346633">the PlayStation.com forums</a>; thanks, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/playstation-3-launch-details-emerge-from-e3/#c1479300">Guru</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/09/cheaper-ps3-loses-hdmi-slots-wi-fi-40gb/">Cheaper PS3 loses HDMI, slots, Wi-Fi, 40GB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 May 2006 03:32:00 EST. hspace="4"
src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2006/03/compat.jpg" width="425" align="middle" vspace="4" border="0" /></a><br
/>Here's how to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2006/03/16/asian-xbox-360-launches-with-budget-games">save a few
bucks</a> on your copy of <em>Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfigher</em>:<br /><br /><em>The Asian region (Hong Kong, Taiwan
and Singapore) can now purchase Xbox 360s specifically for their region. All of these are NTSC-J encoded, the same as
the Japanese 360s. So what's the difference? It's actually the software. In an effort to bring as many
games to the region as possible Microsoft is bringing English language North American titles over. For instance
Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is the same as the USA version and it's also compatible with US
region Xbox 360s. Also all of the Asian version Xbox 360 games are sold at a budget price. Most import retailers are
selling them for $39.99, considerably cheaper than the $59.99 price point for North American games.<br /></em><br
/>Indeed, <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dw-49-en-70-1924.html">Play-Asia.com</a> is selling what appears
to be a region-free version of <em>GRAW</em> for $30.90 plus $3.10 shipping. According to their <a
href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html">compatibility chart</a>, it's the only
"Asian" game so far that will work on your Peoria-purchased 360. Can anyone confirm that it actually
works?</p>
<p>Update: I'm so used to paying through the nose, I forgot to ask: Why is Hong Kong getting bargain rates anyway?</p>
