And Nintendo is really hammering home the fact that it's a <em>European</em> localization. A video clip from a recently posted <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/iwata/iwata_asks_xenoblade_chronicles_32883_33122.html#top">Iwata Asks interview</a> reveals a surprising amount of Britishness in the voice acting. See the clip in question after the break, and find lots more in the interview itself.<br />
<br />
An <a href="http://www.nintendo.de/NOE/de_DE/news/2011/xenoblade_chronicles_fantastische_welten_frei_erkunden_43658.html">announcement</a> on Nintendo of Germany's site reveals that not only is <em>Xenoblade</em> being released in Europe on September 2, it's being released in a limited edition with a red Classic Controller Pro. That's like twisting the <em>Xenoblade</em> in the backs of already irritated Americans.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/xenoblade-chronicles-gets-european-special-edition-very-europea/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xenoblade Chronicles gets European special edition, very European localization</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/xenoblade-chronicles-gets-european-special-edition-very-europea/">Xenoblade Chronicles gets European special edition, very European localization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jun 2011 20:00:00 EST. If you've been waiting to jump on the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/monster-hunter-tri"><em>Monster Hunter Tri</em></a> bandwagon or are just looking for an excuse to pick up a sexy black Classic Controller Pro, this post is for you. Capcom has announced that the <em>Monster Hunter Tri</em> / Classic Controller Pro<em> </em>pack is now back in stock at retail -- and with a cheaper suggested price of $50.<br />
<br />
Even better, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Hunter-Classic-Controller-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0036KRP3Q/ref=sr_1_2?s=gateway&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1285710710&amp;sr=8-2">Amazon</a> is currently offering the bundle for just $40. That's a brand new controller and more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/07/monster-hunter-tri-has-occupied-over-50-hours-per-player-on-average/">hours of gameplay</a> than you can shake a giant sword at for just two Jacksons.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/28/monster-hunter-tri-with-classic-controller-pro-bundle-back-at-re/">Monster Hunter Tri with Classic Controller Pro bundle back at retail</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Sep 2010 22:00:00 EST. Like many Wii games before it, the upcoming revival of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/goldeneye-007">Goldeneye 007</a></em> supports a number of different controllers. You'll be able to play with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, the Classic Controller, a GameCube controller or even the Wii Zapper. But surely one of these myriad methods must be the preferred control scheme among the development team, right?<br />
<br />
Well, no, not really. "There's a house divided, at least amongst ourselves," said Activision production coordinator Graham Hagmaier while presenting a demo of the game at Gamescom this week. "A lot of us play with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I prefer this particular scheme [the Classic Controller], just because I used to play a lot of FPS games on [the Xbox] 360 and PS3, and for a lot of people those are very popular formats. But it just depends on your proficiency with the controller."<br />
<br />
The team's proficiency with the Wii Zapper was left unaddressed.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/20/overheard-gamescom-a-development-house-divided/">Overheard @ Gamescom: A development house divided</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Aug 2010 20:30:00 EST. Remember those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/05/report-new-goldeneye-coming-in-november-to-be-revealed-at-e3/">images</a> which leaked out of Activision's survey about the spiritual successor to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/goldeneye-007"><em>Goldeneye</em></a>? Remember that totally bitchin' gold Wii <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/classic-controller-pro">Classic Controller Pro</a> depicted in one of said images? It's very real, and can be very yours if you elect to pick up the <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/111/1111528p1.html"><em>GoldenEye 007</em> Classic Edition</a> for $69.99 when the game launches later this year.<br />
<br />
This news will be especially exciting to you if you're planning on playing the game using the Classic control scheme, which eschews the Wiimote and Nunchuck for a more traditional input experience -- one which we imagine will be much more "retro"-feeling, and much less less likely to result in you hurling a Wiimote through your TV while attempting to chuck a Throwing Knife at a bothersome foe.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/goldeneye-007-classic-edition-includes-gold-classic-controller-p/">Goldeneye 007 Classic Edition includes gold Classic Controller Pro</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Aug 2010 12:30:00 EST. This week on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-channel">Nintendo Channel</a>, the usual Nintendo Week program does something a bit different and covers the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter-tri"><em>Monster Hunter Tri</em></a> launch at New York City's Nintendo World Store. Director Kaname Fujioka and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto were on hand to chat and sign posters and attendees could even throw down in a tournament. If the video on the Nintendo Channel is any indication, the event was a great success.<br />
<br />
Head past the break for the full list of this week's content.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/26/this-week-on-the-nintendo-channel-monster-hunter-tri-launch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Monster Hunter Tri launch</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/26/this-week-on-the-nintendo-channel-monster-hunter-tri-launch/">This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Monster Hunter Tri launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Apr 2010 16:52:00 EST. Not only did the hardware manufacturer create a new controller, the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/classic-controller-pro">Classic Controller Pro</a>, but it actually consulted Capcom about it. <br />
<br />
"I'm just gonna go ahead and say it," Iwata said, "but we even discussed where the best place for the analogue sticks would be." Fujioka expressed the team's relative shock at Nintendo's openness. "To be honest, when we were first asked that, I thought, 'Is it all right for us to decide?'," Fujioka said. We said what we thought would be a good spot for the analogue sticks, and when it turned out just like that, I was surprised." Of course, that spot is "exactly where they are on the PS2 controller," but that's due to Capcom's choice!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/06/nintendo-collaborated-with-capcom-on-the-classic-controller-pro/">Nintendo collaborated with Capcom on the Classic Controller Pro</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 19:42:00 EST. The retailer is offering the Japanese version of the Pro for $34.99 in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Japanese-Version-Nintendo/dp/B002C1AUP0/ref=pd_sim_vg_1">black</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Japanese-Version-Nintendo/dp/B002ACOJTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1264788743&amp;sr=8-1">white</a>. Quantities are currently severely limited, but the item listing promises that more are on the way.<br />
<br />
Sure, you pay a hefty premium over the $19.99 a Pro will cost when it's officially released in North America, but that's the price you pay for being the envy of all of your friends during <em>Bomberman '93</em> sessions. And if you're not having weekly multiplayer <em>Bomberman '93</em> sessions, don't you want to now? That sounds great.<br />

The set will cost $59.99.<br />
<br />
Even if you're not interested in <em>Monster Hunter,</em> you'll be able to get one separately, in black or white, for the same $19.99 price Nintendo charges for the regular Classic Controller.<br />
<br />
The Pro might not do anything <em>different</em> than the original, but it's laid out a bit more comfortably, with the analog sticks spread out further and the shoulder buttons moved out of the Classic's ridiculous single-file configuration. It's no coincidence, given <em>Monster Hunter</em>'s PS2 origins, that this new controller is essentially identical in layout to a Dual Shock.<br />

The included Wii hardware is the plain white model, and the Classic Controller Pro (also white) doesn't have any fancy design on it. It's just a Wii, and a Classic Controller Pro, and the game. In a box. The box looks pretty cool, we suppose. And it's not like we have the Classic Controller Pro here at all.<br />

No price has been announced for any of these items. <br />
Suda 51 told 1UP that the Classic Controller functionality is intended to attract <em>Monster Hunter</em> fans, many of whom play the game with the Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro (which is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/capcom-releasing-two-monster-hunter-3-bundles-in-japan-this-augu/">bundled with <em>Monster Hunter 3</em></a>). It's a purely optional move that <em>may</em> help get the game in the hands of more people.<br />

Capcom's booth had the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/capcom-bundling-monster-hunter-3-with-black-wii-in-japan/"><em>Monster Hunter 3</em> bundles</a> as part of its <a href="http://www.inside-games.jp/news/359/35920.html"><em>Monster Hunter </em>display</a>, and Nintendo had the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/15/exclusive-blue-wiimote-nunchuk-and-motionplus-for-lucky-wii-spo/">blue Wiimote and Nunchuk</a>, of course, to <a href="http://www.inside-games.jp/news/359/35922.html">promote <em>Wii Sports Resort</em></a> -- which, incidentally, was also the inspiration behind a very nice set of <a href="http://www.inside-games.jp/media/screenshot2.php?gameid=89083&amp;image=9">giveaway items</a>.<br /><em><br /></em>The Nunchuk has always been shiny on top and matte on bottom, but it's much more <em>noticeable</em>, and nice-looking, on the black version. Somehow, the Wiimote jacket also looks cool in matte black, despite being a Wiimote jacket. The <a href="http://www.inside-games.jp/media/screenshot2.php?gameid=89079&amp;image=8">Classic Controller Pro</a>, as well, looks like much more of an <em>upgrade</em> in shiny black plastic. Head past the break to see the blue <em>Wii Sports</em> controllers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/black-wii-blue-controllers-on-display-at-world-hobby-fair/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Black Wii, blue controllers on display at World Hobby Fair</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/black-wii-blue-controllers-on-display-at-world-hobby-fair/">Black Wii, blue controllers on display at World Hobby Fair</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 13:15:00 EST. Nintendo didn't actually make any <em>announcements</em> about a North American release for the upgraded controller, but then it didn't make any announcements about a bunch of <em>games</em> that are coming out either.<br /><br />We asked several reps at the Nintendo booth, and none knew if there was an actual release planned. Capcom is graciously offering fans three different ways to blow a bunch of money on the game -- in addition to the standalone game, two separate limited-edition bundles will be released.<br /><br />A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/get-a-grip-nintendo-reveals-wii-classic-controller-pro/">Classic Controller Pro</a> package, containing the game and Nintendo's new controller, will be available for &yen;8,490 ($88), and a Limited Edition pack, containing the game, a "making-of DVD" and other unspecified extras will retail for &yen;9,440 ($98). The <em>Famitsu</em> article also shows the silhouette of a "Monster Head Figure" to be handed out as a bonus with early copies of the game.<br /><br />[Image via <a href="http://wiieveryday.blogspot.com/2009/05/famitsu-20090515.html">Wii Everyday</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/capcom-releasing-two-monster-hunter-3-bundles-in-japan-this-augu/">Capcom releasing two Monster Hunter 3 bundles in Japan this August</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 11:40:00 EST. Well folks, clear some room, because your hopes and dreams are about to come crashing down ... <em>now</em>: Nintendo has <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6205490.html">no plans</a> to bring <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/get-a-grip-nintendo-reveals-wii-classic-controller-pro/">the Classic Controller Pro</a> to the United States. In fact, that's exactly what a kind Nintendo spokesperson said: "At this time, we do not have any plans to launch the Classic Controller Pro in the United States."<br /><br /> Of course, that doesn't mean you can't have one, if you really <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/">want it that badly</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/nintendo-no-plans-to-bring-classic-controller-pro-to-u-s/">Nintendo: No plans to bring Classic Controller Pro to U.S.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 14:30:00 EST. The "Classic Controller Pro" replaces the original's tiny secondary shoulder buttons with a traditional Dual Shock style "two rows of buttons" set up, moves the two analog sticks out a bit from the center, and adds some hand grips. Hand grips are for <em>pros.</em><br /><br />Basically, if a Dual Shock and a Wii Classic Controller had a baby, it would be -- a disgusting thing to think about. But if someone were to design a video game controller that used elements of both of those controllers, it would be the Classic Controller Pro.<br /><br />Nintendo plans a summer 2009 release for this controller, which should dovetail nicely with <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/monster-hunter-3-captures-japans-money-this-summer/"><em>Monster Hunter 3</em></a> -- no doubt irritating Capcom, who is bundling a port of its predecessor, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/monster-hunter-gs-online-mode-play-an-old-game-together/"><em>Monster Hunter G</em></a>, with a <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/01/15/japanese-monster-hunter-g-bundle-includes-special-edition-blue-c/">special blue version</a> of the <em>original</em> Classic. No pricing or information about a release outside of Japan is given.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5160634/nintendo-unveils-new-wii-controller">Kotaku</a>; thanks, Face]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/get-a-grip-nintendo-reveals-wii-classic-controller-pro/">Get a grip: Nintendo reveals Wii 'Classic Controller Pro'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Feb 2009 03:00:00 EST.
