Infinity Ward Community Manager <strike>Robert Bowling</strike> <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fourzerotwo">Fourzerotwo</a> has released some player <em>statisticalz</em> from a little game called <em>Call of Duty 4</em>. The data, pulled on Jan. 3, reveals that 10 million unique users have played <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>CoD 4</em></a> on Xbox 360 and connected to Live "at least once" after playing.<br /><br />Going deeper down the fox hole (yes, it's called a mixed metaphor), Infinity Ward checked specific data on certain levels: <blockquote>
<ul>
    <li><strong>71.1%</strong>, or <strong>7,111,508 people</strong> have completed F.N.G.</li>
    <li><strong>68.8%</strong>, or <strong>6,886,509</strong> people have completed Cargo Ship.</li>
    <li><strong>46.5%</strong>, or<strong> 5,654,643</strong> people have beaten the game on any difficulty.</li>
    <li><strong>2.8%</strong>, or <strong>283,632</strong> people have completed Airplane on Veteran difficulty.</li>
</ul>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">Comparatively, pulling the multiplayer numbers from PSN revealed 4,381,276 unique users. Now we just want to know how many tries it took that 2.8% to complete Airplane on Veteran.<br /></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/cod-4-over-10-million-served-2-8-survive-airplane-on-veteran/">CoD 4: Over 10 million served, 2.8% survive 'Airplane' on veteran</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 11:10:00 EST. Looks like the <em>Call of Duty</em> franchise still has plenty of World War II to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/activision-blizzard-ceo-kotick-vivendi-franchises-lacked-poten/">exploit</a> as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/world-at-war"><em>World at War</em></a> outsold <span style="font-style: italic;">Call of Duty 4</span>'s debut week in the UK two to one. <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/new-call-of-duty-outsells-cod4-by-more-than-2-to-1">GI.biz</a> reports that <span style="font-style: italic;">CoD:WaW</span> stands atop the "All Formats" charts, but no actual sales numbers are given, merely chart position. The top ten can be found after the break.<br /><br />Interesting to note is that Activision Blizzard accounted for 25% of all game sales for the week ending Nov. 15, with the one-two punch of <span style="font-style: italic;">CoD:WaW</span> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/wrath-of-the-lich-king"><span style="font-style: italic;">World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King</span></a>, followed by several other top performers like the <span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero</span> franchise. Not surprisingly,<span style="font-style: italic;"> Lich King</span> is apparently the fastest-selling PC title in UK. People needs their fix!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/call-of-duty-world-at-war-outsells-cod4s-debut-in-uk-2-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Call of Duty: World at War outsells CoD4's debut in UK 2:1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/call-of-duty-world-at-war-outsells-cod4s-debut-in-uk-2-1/">Call of Duty: World at War outsells CoD4's debut in UK 2:1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Nov 2008 16:15:00 EST. <div align="left">The NPD, in collaboration with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20365">Gamasutra</a>, disclosed the top 5 bestsellers for each platform today, including the PS3. Without further ado, let's take a look at what they are:<br />
<ol>
    <li><em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em></li>
    <li><em>Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots</em></li>
    <li><em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</em></li>
    <li><em>Madden NFL 09</em></li>
    <li><em>Gran Turismo 5: Prologue</em></li>
</ol>
Note that specific sales numbers were not provided and the final tally does not include any collector's editions, games sold via digital distribution or games bundled with a system. <br /><br />No one is really surprised that <em>GTA IV, MGS4</em> and <em>Madden 09</em> made it to the top of the charts. However, Gamasutra remarks on the tremendous momentum <em>Call of Duty 4</em> has had so far in 2008, especially considering the game was released early November of 2007. They were also surprised to see <em>Gran Turismo 5: Prologue</em> beating out <em>Devil May Cry 4</em>; they even speculate that if the sales on the PS Store for <em>Gran Turismo 5: Prologue</em> were counted, it might have even trumped the sales of the PS3 version of <em>Madden 09</em>. Did any of these games surprise you guys? Is there a game you would have liked to see on the chart? Fire away in the comments below.<br /></div>

First and foremost, players will be happy to know that some of the new maps will <em>not</em> be set in the Middle East or Russia. GameSpot got to look at Broadcast and Creek, the first of which being set in the television station seen during the campaign mission "Charlie Don't Surf." The environment from the campaign is faithfully replicated with some design changes made to suit multiplayer. Creek, on the other hand, is set somewhere entirely new, complete with lush greenery, cliffs, a cave and, yes, a creek. The map is "massive" according to GameSpot with lots of places to go. The final two maps are "Chinatown" and "Killhouse." The first is fairly obvious, while the second map was apparently inspired by the training course from the first mission of the game. The price for the DLC remains a mystery as does its release date (though it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/04/new-call-of-duty-4-dlc-to-release-this-spring/">originally billed</a> as a "spring" release). Hit the "read" link for GameSpot's full impressions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/new-cod4-maps-detailed-by-gamespot/">New COD4 maps detailed by GameSpot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 18:00:00 EST. Quick recap: about a month ago, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cod4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> managed to kick <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a> off of the top Xbox Live spot. The following week, <em>Halo 3 </em>returned to the number one slot. Last week, <em>COD4</em> knocked <em>Halo 3</em> off of its perch once again. Well, guess what folks: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/video-proof-major-nelson-is-not-paris-hilton/">Major Nelson</a> just posted the most recent <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/02/13/live-activity-for-week-of-2-4.aspx">Xbox Live top ten</a> and ... <em>Call of Duty 4</em> is <em>still</em> number one. That's right, <em>Call of Duty 4</em> has been number one for <em>two weeks in a row</em>. Can it last? Frankly, we hope not, because finding images for the <em>COD4</em> / <em>Halo 3</em> feud is one of the highlights of our week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/call-of-duty-4-maintains-top-live-spot/">Call of Duty 4 maintains top Live spot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Feb 2008 13:30:00 EST.
