<div>
	Sorry, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/disney-universe"><em>Disney Universe</em></a> Jungle Book costume DLC pack, but what are you doing? <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TaleSpin">TaleSpin</a></em> is still the coolest thing to come out of the Jungle Book setting. Yes, the little costumes in this three-buck pack -- featuring man-cub Mowgli, Shere Khan the tiger, Louie the ape, Bagheera the panther and a baby elephant -- are cute, and kids will probably love them.<br />
	<br />
	But nothing compares to the classic early '90s cartoon series that re-imagined the lovable Baloo as a down-on-his-luck seaplane pilot, Louie as the owner of his favorite watering hole (get it?), and Shere Khan as a sharply-dressed and golden-voiced <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTOUe9pI4kk&amp;feature=related">business cat</a>. Until you've got elements that play on <em>Cheers</em>, old adventure movies, and an alternate postware timeline, you just enjoy your lower place on the list of cool Jungle Book tie-ins.</div>

Hold <em>all</em> of your horses, padre, and don't get too excited just yet. See that picture up there? That sparkling, dynamically lit and exceedingly impressive Mega Man, torn from the pages of the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3"><em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em></a> guide and punctuated by an emboldened "DLC" classification? So do we, and it's a <em>lie</em>.<br />
<br />
The blue bomber's <em>Mega Man X</em> variant won't be joining his <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_(Mega_Man)">sword-wielding comrade</a> in battle, but rather will be providing said comrade with a fancy new outfit. That's right, that's <em>costume DLC</em> for Zero, and that sound you hear is the noise made by a hundred thousand simultaneously shattered hopes and dreams.<br />
<br />
No word yet on availability or pricing, or whether this means more deceptive DLC costumes await the game's fighters down the line. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to clean up the remnants of our rage-torn office.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/12/not-how-it-looks-theater-presents-mega-man-x-isnt-in-umvc3/">Not How It Looks Theater presents: Mega Man X (isn't) in UMvC3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Nov 2011 11:30:00 EST. We may only know about two of the four Spidey settings to be featured in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/spider-man-shattered-dimensions">Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension</a></em>, but that hasn't stopped <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77582">GameStop</a> from announcing that pre-orders of the game (on any console) will get access to a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fictional_history_of_Spider-Man#Cosmic_Spider-Man">Cosmic Spider-Man</a> costume (which can be equipped in each of the game's four "universes"). Like in the comics, the extra-superpowered state of Cosmic Spider-Man will enable a "signature charge attack" that's exclusive to his costume, regardless of which world you're Spider-Manning around in.<br />
<br />
Since GameStop didn't release an image of the Spidey iteration from its (presumably exclusive) pre-order bonus, we've dropped a picture of the totally rad Cosmic Spider-Man action figure above -- it's gotta look something like that in-game, right? And no, it's not a "doll." It's an <em>action figure</em>.<br />
<br />

When EA DICE decided to release some downloadable armaments in the original <em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em>, it proved to be a fairly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/yes-there-is-a-boycott-of-battlefield-bad-company/">unpopular decision</a>. However, the recently found a way to outfox the gaming community, releasing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2"><em>Bad Company 2</em></a> DLC without drawing our ire. How did the studio accomplish such a feat? Easy -- it just released the DLC in a <em>completely different game</em>.<br />
<br />
<em>Battlefield Heroes</em> recently <a href="http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/03/16/claim-your-battlefunds-and-kit-out-your-hero-in-bad-company-2-gear.aspx">received a large push of content</a> inspired by <em>Bad Company</em>, including six modern weapons and the outfits of George Haggard and Kirilenko. Best of all, if you log onto <em>Heroes</em> while using an account that's also linked to <em>Bad Company 2</em>, you'll receive the Battlefunds required to purchase the new gear. Check out the new equipment in <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bZ8_cD8ud4">the trailer </a>posted after the jump.<br />

Does your dead-eyed Home avatar lack a bit of that <em>buccaneering spirit</em>? LucasArts has a sure-fire way to fix your lack of nautical flair: During its pirate-themed party at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc">GDC</a>, the company announced that <em>Monkey Island</em> costumes (pictured above) would soon make their way to PlayStation Home.<br />

No globally-recognized holiday can escape attention from Media Molecule's DIY platformer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>, don't ya know? This week, the PS3 version of the game will receive a <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/08/littlebigplanet-this-week-in-dlc-4/">free St. Patrick's Day-themed costume</a>, which turns your adorable sack-vatar into a reddish-orange-bearded leprechaun. That's really exciting news if you're a fan of Lucky Charms -- but really <em>terrifying</em> news if you're familiar with Warwick Davis' acclaimed <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leprechaun_%28franchise%29">psychological thriller series</a>.<br />
<br />
We hate to derail this post's train of thought, but we've been absorbed by the rich mythos of <em>Leprechaun</em> after reading that Wikipedia entry. Did you guys know there have been <em>six</em> installments in the <em>Leprechaun </em>franchise? It's true: <em>Leprechaun</em>, <em>Leprechaun 2</em>, <em>Leprechaun 3</em>, <em>Leprechaun 4: In Space</em>, <em>Leprechaun: In the Hood</em> and <em>Leprechaun: Back to tha Hood</em>. This is not a joke. Those are all real movies, which real people really made.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/we-leprechaunt-believe-this-weeks-littlebigplanet-dlc/">We leprechaun't believe this week's LittleBigPlanet DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Mar 2010 14:14:00 EST. Further expanding on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em>'s</a> catalog of costumes portraying PS3-exclusive game protagonists, Media Molecule has revealed that the next set of in-game duds will come from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/white-knight-chronicles"><em>White Knight Chronicles</em></a> on February 25. According to <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/01/more-white-knight-chronicles-goodness-character-creation-video/">the PlayStation.Blog post</a> announcing the new content, the costume pack will include the garbs of four of the RPG's legendary heroes: The White Knight, Black Knight, Dragon Knight, and ... <em>Leonard</em>. One of these things is <em>significantly</em> less awesome than the others.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/30/white-knight-chronicles-costumes-coming-to-littlebigplanet/">White Knight Chronicles costumes coming to LittleBigPlanet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Jan 2010 14:30:00 EST. Sony's official Playstation blog has <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/01/this-week-in-playstation-home-the-london-pub-limited-assassins-creed-2-bioshock-2-items-zombieland-mag-events/">posted a rundown of what's new in Home</a> this coming week, and it looks like you'll have a few different costumes, personal spaces, and even a couple of contests to pick from. First up, the costumes: Not only will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/become-a-big-daddy-in-playstation-home-via-bioshock-2-pre-order/">the <em>Bioshock</em> suit</a> finally be available, but there's a special edition Ezio costume from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed II</em></a> as well. There's a brand new personal space <a href="http://www.veemee.com/thelondonpub/video-1.html#">named London Pub</a> created by VEEMEE, complete with dart game, beer taps, and working restrooms. And there are new items for the Paris Clock Tower personal space, as well as Fantasy and Victorian clothing bundles to buy.<br />
<br />
As for contests, they're currently running <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mag"><em>MAG</em></a> contests in Central Plaza (where you can get free t-shirts of the game's factions), and <em>Zombieland</em> contests that ask you to answer trivia questions posted around the environment. Other than those promotions, new stuff ain't cheap: The London Pub is $5.99, and the other items and costumes will cost you, too. But what's the cost of one beer at a swanky authentic pub when you could buy a virtual copy of <em>the whole place</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/28/new-costumes-spaces-are-home-ward-bound/">New costumes, spaces are Home-ward bound</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Jan 2010 13:00:00 EST. You can become a Big Daddy in PlayStation Home ... if you pre-order <em>BioShock 2</em> on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EYUQ8M?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B001EYUQ8M">amazon.com</a>. The online retailer is offering the game, $10 credit and exclusive access to this Home costume for $55. It's the perfect costume to wear if you feel like picking up chemically engineered underage girls in Sony's online community.<br />
<br />
If that doesn't entice you, there's always GameStop's <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73954">pre-order incentive</a> of extra multiplayer characters.<br />

To coincide with the launch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a> in Japan, PlayStation Home has been updated with a number of virtual Square Enix goods -- all of them terribly expensive. For 600 yen (about $6.66), <em>Final Fantasy</em> fans will be able to purchase an avatar costume of Snow, Lightning or Sazh. (The Baby Chocobo wig for Sazh will cost an additional 100 yen, though.) While these costumes may be pricey, the alternative (cosplaying in <em>real life</em>) exacts an even greater cost.<br />
<br />
<em>FF13</em>-inspired furniture is also available at the Home Marketplace, ranging from 100 to 200 yen each. Perhaps you'll want a Cactaur for your apartment? Or a <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> sofa? Certainly, there's no better way to relax after a lengthy <em>FF13</em> grind than to sit down on your virtual couch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/17/final-fantasy-xiii-goes-home-in-japan/">Final Fantasy XIII goes Home in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Dec 2009 12:30:00 EST. You may be nearing the end of your assassinating adventures with Ezio in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed II</em></a>. But, what are you supposed to do as you agonizingly wait for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/assassins-creed-2-getting-double-dose-of-dlc-starting-january-2/">upcoming DLC</a>? Make your own <em>AC2</em> adventures in PlayStation Home and <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>, of course!<br />
<br />
The <em>LBP </em>Ezio costume will be available <a href="http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/game_guide/ps3/downloadable_content/assassins_creed_ii_ezio_auditore_costume">today</a> on the PlayStation Store worldwide for &pound;1.59 / &euro;1.99 / US $1.99 / AUS $ 3.45 / NZD $3.90. Unfortunately, this costume set doesn't include any hidden wrist blades, so you'll have to make do with slapping your friends silly.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/12/this-week-in-playstation-home-iron-fist-assassin%E2%80%99s-creed-ii-special-holiday-items/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29">PlayStation Home</a>'s offering is a little less adventurous. The virtual Mall will feature "Renaissance costumes pulled straight from 15th Century Italy." In other words, you can dress like a courtesan (essentially, a fancy way for saying "prostitute"). Once again, no lethal weapons will be included, so instead of killing, you'll have to make do with ... um, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4Eo5zFaOPc">dancing</a>.<br />

Perhaps you've been playing an online session of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> and seen a Sackboy (or Sackgirl) with his (or her) head stuck inside of a turkey. You're probably curious as to how this bold fashion statement came to pass. Were they searching for a lost meat thermometer? Had they been the victim of a cruel practical joke? Were they afflicted with the rare, but deadly <em>Meleagris Oblongatus</em> virus?<br />
<br />
As it turns out, the real source of these turkeyheaded individuals isn't really that scintillating. Media Molecule handed them out free of charge last Thanksgiving -- and, <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/11/littlebigplanet-sack-it-to-me-the-white-house-edition/">according to a recent post on PlayStation.Blog</a>, the offer stands this year as well. Hop onto <em>LBP</em> to get your fowl chapeau from the LittleBigStore, but act quick -- it'll only be available for "a limited time."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/gobble-up-this-littlebigplanet-turkey-costume-before-its-gone/">Gobble up this LittleBigPlanet Turkey costume before it's gone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Nov 2009 17:15:00 EST. We're usually hesitant to spend real-life money on virtual clothing, but you can bet we'll spring at the chance to purchase the recently revealed <a href="http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/psn/addonDetail/93370"><em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> costume pack</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>. See, if we dress ourselves up like the series' speedy, cerulean protagonist, then play one of the many, <em>many</em> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcWBMpEIjDI">Green Hill Zone stages</a> crafted by the <em>LBP</em> community, we can pretend that we're playing a decent, current-gen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic"><em>Sonic</em></a> platformer.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Media Molecule to try and find out the North American release date and price for this costume pack. We shouldn't let the developer hear us say this, but we'd pay <em>anything</em> for that beautiful illusion.<br />

We may raise our snobby noses as we pass by cosplayers at conventions, but once a year it becomes socially acceptable for us to embrace our inner theater student and don a disguise. Being people who spend quite a bit of time writing about or playing video games, we tend to err on the side of nerdery when it comes to Halloween outfits (<em>shocking</em>, we know). The folks at <a href="http://fangamer.net/products/awesomeness">Fangamer</a> coax this urge all the more when they release a full outfit of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/earthbound"><em>Earthbound</em></a>'s hero, Ness, on their site. Considering the striped "Shirtness," the accompanying "Earth Bounder" (the yo-yo) and the guarantee that it'll arrive before Halloween, the $54.99 asking price seems almost acceptable. <em>Almost</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5390173/earthbound-inspired-shirtness-hatness-ups-your-nerdness">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/youre-bound-to-look-sharp-in-these-earthbound-duds/">You're bound to look sharp in these Earthbound duds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Oct 2009 13:45:00 EST. If you missed your chance to grab the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> Pumpkin Head mask, which was offered as a free Halloween promotion last year, don't fret -- Media Molecule is <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2009/10/26/return-of-the-pumpkin-head-halloween-costume/">bringing the complimentary costume piece</a> back to the game this Thursday. We're not certain how long the wearable gourd will be available to download, so make sure you act quickly, lest you be forced to wait <em>another</em> year before you get your Sleepy Hollow Sackboy on.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/10/26/halloween-costume-coming-to-lbp-this-week/">VG247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/pumpkin-head-mask-returning-to-lbp-in-time-for-halloween/">Pumpkin Head mask returning to LBP in time for Halloween</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 13:45:00 EST. Though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet-psp"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em>'s</a> customizable protagonist, Sackboy, may have lost a bit of his highfalutin' texture rendering in the jump over to the PSP, he's managed to retain all of his original adorability factor. This unbridled cuteness can be seen in <a href="http://news.littlebigworkshop.com/en-us/post/2009/10/What%27s-new-in-LittleBigPlanet-%28PSP%29---Costumes.aspx">a recent LittleBigWorkshop blog post</a>, which includes a batch of images previewing a few of Mr. Sack's new garments.<br /> <br /> The most intriguing of these <em>duds</em> are referenced in a section of the post discussing "preorder incentives and upcoming DLC packs" -- a moon buggy and a tank, seen above. We imagine these are just articles of clothing and not actual vehicles (a "moon buggy belt", if you will), but if you think that makes us <em>less</em> interested in them, then you must not know us very well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/littlebigworkshop-reveals-a-handful-of-lbp-psp-costumes/">LittleBigWorkshop reveals a handful of LBP PSP costumes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Oct 2009 12:15:00 EST. The night of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halloween">All Hallows' Eve</a> is swiftly approaching. We're sure that, by now, you've got a rough outline of what pop culture icon you'll attempt to disguise yourself as. We're also sure that it's not one-tenth as awesome nor as intricate as the Covenant Elite (of <em>Halo</em> fame) costume recently <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/petemander1">created by YouTube user petemander1</a>. That is, unless your Optimus Prime costume has animatronic, remote-controlled eyes and mandibles. No? It doesn't? <em>That's what we thought</em>.<br /> <br /> Check out the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvjvrUEHrTQ">two</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0r-BSfx8WY">videos</a> posted after the jump to get an early look at Pete's humbling (and slightly terrifying) creation. We'd say we can't wait to see how the full costume turns out, but we've already got plenty of subjects on which to base our nightmares.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/19/animatronic-covenant-elite-costume-blows-yours-out-of-the-water/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Animatronic Covenant Elite costume blows yours out of the water</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/19/animatronic-covenant-elite-costume-blows-yours-out-of-the-water/">Animatronic Covenant Elite costume blows yours out of the water</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Oct 2009 14:30:00 EST. Krix thoughtfully provided <a href="http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2009/09/big-daddy-bioshock.html">step-by-step instructions</a> so you can attempt to fabricate your own Big Daddy. It's mostly made from an insulation-foam and cardboard skeleton, covered with expanding foam, with one of those domes from a ceiling-mounted security camera for the head and custom-molded resin details. And then there's ... the articulated cardboard-and-PVC animatronic hand.<br />
<br />
Okay, maybe the fact that he's shown how <em>he</em> did this doesn't necessarily mean <em>we</em> can do it.<br />

<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tekken-6/">Tekken 6</a></em> continues to expand its repertoire of manga-inspired special costumes. Masashi Kishimoto, creator of <em>Naruto</em>, is collaborating with Namco Bandai by creating an alternate outfit for Lars (seen above). This is the second costume from a famous mangaka for <em>Tekken 6</em>, the first being <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/check-out-clamps-tekken-6-costume-in-game/">CLAMP's design for Jin</a>.<br /><br />In addition to Kishimoto's outfit, <em>Tekken 6</em> will also feature an alternate costume for Zafina designed by Mutsumi Inomata, character designer of <em>Tales of Destiny</em> and <em>Tales of Graces</em> (after the break). While some were afraid these costumes would remain a strictly Japan-only affair, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/31/these-tekken-6-costumes-were-made-by-manga-artists/">Siliconera</a> reports that all three of the special costumes revealed so far will be available in the US version as well when it launches on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/tekken-6-release-date-october-27-in-north-america/">October 27th</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/">Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. OK, we're sure this has been floating around the tubes for a bit, but we're more than happy to devote some attention to the very cool Brotherhood of Steel costume you see above. Made out of awesome and love (probably some foam and paint in there too), the beautiful homage to <em>Fallout 3</em> was apparently completed back in March.<br /><br />After seeing this, we don't feel so bad about losing that auction for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/fallout-3-brotherhood-of-steel-statue-sold-for-2-507/">7'10" Brotherhood of Steel statue</a>. We'd go to work wearing this costume if we could.<br /><br />[Thanks, Gawk]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/01/we-want-this-fallout-3-brotherhood-of-steel-costume/">We want this Fallout 3 Brotherhood of Steel costume</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 23:59:00 EST. <strong>Update:</strong> Electronic Arts has contacted us to let us know that the outfits will be free. Multiplayer has updated its own story, noting that the prices mentioned were seen on the <em>Battlefield Heroes</em> test servers. Upon release to the actual public, they will be offered at the consumer-friendly price of <em>no dollars</em>. Original post is below.<br /><br />In a touching display of respect for the recently deceased King of Pop, <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/06/30/michael-jackson-honored-in-battlefield-heroes/">Electronic Arts has uploaded</a> a pair of the music legend's iconic outfits to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlefield-Heroes/">Battlefield Heroes</a></em> -- one for each of the game's two factions. Members of the Royal Army can now drape themselves in the white suit worn by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Michael-Jackson/">Michael Jackson</a> in the "Smooth Criminal" music video, while National Army recruits can don the black leather apparel featured in "Bad." This is a really neat way for EA to show -- wait a sec, you have to <em>pay</em> for them?<br /><br />You're telling us that EA is charging 420 Battlefunds (about $3) for these outfits? Well, surely, they're donating the money to sick kids or something, right? No? They're just ... keeping it? That's <em>sorta</em> messed up, guys.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/michael-jackson-honored-in-battlefield-heroes-kind-of/">Michael Jackson honored in Battlefield Heroes, kind of [update: Costumes will be free]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 18:10:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6/"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> continues to get more bizarre. Famed all-female mangaka group CLAMP (known for <em>Cardcaptor Sakura</em>, <em>X/1999</em>, <em><em>xxxHolic</em>, <em>Code Geass</em></em>) is designing new costume designs for Namco Bandai's upcoming fighter. Here, we see Jin wearing a wardrobe that would fit perfectly in CLAMP's <em>Tsubasa Chronicle</em>.<br /><br />Obviously, the addition of one of the most popular shoujo groups in Japan is meant to increase <em>Tekken</em>'s appeal beyond male gamers. In fact, the high-pitched ringing you may be hearing right now is the sound of thousands of anime fan girls squeeing in unison whilst holding onto Kero-chan plushies.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/clamp-designing-costumes-for-tekken-6-anime-fan-girls-squee/">CLAMP designing costumes for Tekken 6, anime fan girls squee</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 22:30:00 EST. If you're like us, you like free costumes in <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> -- primarily because it's hard to resist free stuff. Media Molecule's next gratis offering is this <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2009/06/17/celebrate-the-summer-solstice-get-beardy/">"Druid" costume</a>, created to celebrate the summer solstice. As with many of the game's free costumes, this costume will only be available for a week. Europeans will want to hit the PlayStation Store <em>tomorrow</em> (June 18th), while North American PS3 owners will have to wait until next week, June 25th.<br /><br />The long white robe should help -- as noted by <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2009/06/17/celebrate-the-summer-solstice-get-beardy/#comment-9291">Takorii</a> -- create some excellent <em>Assassin's Creed</em> costumes. We'll certainly be using the beard whenever we cross a bridge in the game, screaming "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44kBN340vd4">You shall not pass</a>!"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/free-druid-costume-coming-to-littlebigplanet/">Free Druid costume coming to LittleBigPlanet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 17:00:00 EST. Eidos has given <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tomb-raider-underworld"><em>Underworld</em></a> fans another free costume pack, perfect for playing dress-up with Lara Croft. The 62MB download gives Lara a blue and a red wetsuit to add to her walk-in closet. A previous free costume pack bestowed Lady Croft with her treasured original (<em>Anniversary</em>) outfit and her <em>Legend</em> ensemble.<br /><br />As much as we love putting Lara in new clothes -- pretending she's the Barbie doll dad wouldn't let us have as a kid -- don't think we've forgotten about those <em>Underworld</em> level packs. We talked about Halloween <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/show-and-tell-early-but-eerie/">last month</a>, as people were first beginning to think about the holiday, but now that it's past, it's time for us to revisit the topic. Specifically, we have to look at costumes! Gamers always seem so enthusiastic about their costumes, and they're rarely something you can throw together at the last minute with handy items from around the house.<br /><br />If you're feeling particularly <em>rebellious</em>, you can bounce right into the gallery and make your own way around. If not, we've got a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/1135248/">guided tour</a> prepared, just for you.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/">Show and Tell: Halloween '08</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/#1135248"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/st-plumberrelax-ronaj_thumbnail.png" alt="Mario the Plumber" title="Mario the Plumber" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/#1135247"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/st-jack-moog_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Kupo!" title="Kupo!" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/#1135246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/st-tonberrycs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/#1135245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/st-mm-awesome_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Unexpected!" title="Unexpected!" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-halloween-08/#1135244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/st-shanoa-caldoria_thumbnail.png" alt="Shanoa" title="Shanoa" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/show-and-tell-post-halloween-wrap-up/">Show and Tell: Post-Halloween wrap-up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 13:41:00 EST. <br />Halloween is only a day away -- do you have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/ds-daily-planning-a-costume/">your costume</a> ready yet? Still looking for video game-inspired ideas? How about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/cosplay-in-just-minutes-a-day/">Dr. Kawashima</a> from the <em>Brain Age</em> series? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/18/turnabout-cosplay-at-comic-con/">Phoenix Wright</a>? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/homemade-no-more-heroes-beam-katana-contradicts-the-games-title/">Travis Touchdown</a>? How about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/moustache-not-included/">Mario</a>?<br /><br />Need a female costume? Maybe you can dress up as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/warioware-costume-makes-cosplay-not-fun-anymore/">one of the ninja sisters</a> from the <em>WarioWare</em> games? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/midna-rosalina-expertly-cosplayed-by-nintendo-convert/">Midna or Rosalina</a>? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/dear-mario-please-come-to-the-castle-i-have-made-some-awesome/">Peach or Samus</a>? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/show-and-tell-oh-mama/">Mama</a>? Struggling for a dog outfit? Well, there's always <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/k-k-slider-cosplay-is-simple-massively-effective/">K.K. Slider</a>. Or, um, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/the-ds-life-puppies-at-play/"><em>Nintendogs</em></a>?<br /><br />And when all else fails, whether you're a boy, girl, or puppy, there's always ... Link! We've featured several costume variations of the young hero -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/26/cosplaying-brit-reviews-phantom-hourglass/"><em>Phantom Hourglass</em> Link</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/the-ds-life-four-swordswomen/"><em>Four Swords</em> Link</a>, and, of course, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/female-duo-sets-the-standard-for-link-cosplay/">Hugging Girls Link</a> -- but today's photo puts an actual kid into the green outfit! What is it that elevates Jenni's cosplay above others? Simple: the outfits are obviously beautifully made, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pixelninjas-cosplay/1041084/full/">props</a> are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pixelninjas-cosplay/1041083/full/">brilliant</a> (we <em>really</em> need <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pixelninjas-cosplay/1041088/full/">a giant Goomba</a> now, though yes, we know it isn't <em>actually</em> that size), and there's a sense of humor about her work. In the fine tradition of American retailers, we'd like to get started on Halloween a little early this year. We've got pumpkins, costumes, and parties -- all things just ripe for you to undertake yourself once the holiday rolls around. Doing something gaming-related yourself? Make sure you let us know!<br /><br />Also, hey -- if you're looking to get started early on your spooky plans this year, maybe <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/show-and-tell-all-hallows-eve-eve/1024972/">some of these</a> will help get the (ooshy gooshy layers of) brain cranking out some ideas.<br /><br /><br /><br />

Take, for example, <a href="http://wiimansuperhero.blogspot.com/">WiiMan</a> -- the white fabric-clad manboy, with a Wiimote decal on the front of his costume. Oh, and let's not forget the cape.<br /><br />One cool thing about Wiiman, though, is that the Wiimote on his costume is wired to work like an actual Wiimote. Of course, that's one of those things that sounds better in theory than in practice, because feeling up some guy in a superhero costume (or watching him feel up himself) while playing Wii is something we tend to avoid.<br /><br />Still, we admire WiiMan's dedication. It's not everyday you see a man dressed as a functioning Wiimote, amirite?<br /><br />(Note: We know some circles won't consider this as official cosplay, but it's close enough for our standards.)<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gemaga.com/2008/04/16/wii-man-superhero-cosplay">Gemaga</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/wiiman-is-a-human-wiimote/">WiiMan is a human Wiimote</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Apr 2008 21:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/the-ds-life/">The DS Life</a> is a weekly feature in which we scour the known world for narrative images of Nintendo's handhelds and handheld gamers. If you have a photo and a story to match it with, send both to <span style="font-weight: bold;">thedslife at dsfanboy dot com</span>.<br /><br />We've already seen cosplay outfits for Nintendo DS figures like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/cosplay-in-just-minutes-a-day/">Dr. Kawashima</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/female-duo-sets-the-standard-for-link-cosplay/">Link</a>, and even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/k-k-slider-cosplay-is-simple-massively-effective/">K.K. In addition to touch-screeny puzzles, the DS remake of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/flower-sun-and-rain-screens-take-us-to-exotic-locales/">Flower, Sun, and Rain</a> </em>has been confirmed to contain at least minimal new content -- minimal but meaningful. Notably (har), you have a memo pad, which lets you save pages of handwritten notes. This is, of course, wonderful for adventure games.<br /><br />In addition, Suda has (openly) hidden a reference to his recent Wii release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/no-more-heroes"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> in the new game. Sumio Mondo has access to some changes of costumes, which we are guessing are unlockable. One of them is a bellboy, in the same style as <em>Flower, Sun, and Rain's</em> creepy-looking bellboy character, but the other is Travis Touchdown -- right down to the amber sunglasses and single glove. <br /><br />It's no surprise that Suda alluded to <em>No More Heroes</em> in <em>Flower, Sun, and Rain</em>, since he<em> </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/no-more-modesty-in-advertising/">made a similar allusion</a> in (at least the advertising for) <em>No More Heroes.</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/01/25/take-note-flower-sun-and-rain-contains-a-travis-costume/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/flower-sun-and-not-heroes/">Flower, Sun, and Not Heroes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 15:00:00 EST. At first glance, there's nothing particularly notable about the title, with the usual casino suspects all present: poker, slots, bunny girls, blackjack, and roule -- wait, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/bunny-girls-sell-rayman-raving-rabbids-2-in-japan/"><em>bunny girls</em></a>?<br /><br />Yep, it turns out that <em>Odaiba </em>comes with a rather unusual hook: the ability to dress up the game's casino hostess in a range of costumes that can be purchased once you've won enough virtual medals in the game. Indeed, further research indicates that said outfits are the <em>only</em> reward for playing through the game. <div align="left">If you somehow missed Spike's Video Game Awards ... er, let's try that again. If you somehow watched <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vga">Spike's Video Game Awards</a>, then you no doubt saw Nathan Sharratt's impressive home-made Big Daddy costume. He was actually invited to the event by 2K Boston after his <em>BioShock</em> homage Halloween costume pictures got significant attention from these here intertubes. Anyway, Sharratt is <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=180193855620&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&amp;ih=008">selling his Big Daddy costume</a> on eBay, may the capitalism commence!<br /><br />The bidding began at $999 and is how much the costume cost to make according to Sharratt. He says he's getting rid of Big Daddy because his apartment is the "size of a shoe box" and hopes someone out there will give the costume a "good, loving, nerdy home." We're kinda wondering why 2K Boston doesn't just buy the thing. The only thing missing from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/21/bioshock-launch-party-at-bostons-felt-bar/"><em>BioShock</em> launch party</a> was a Big Daddy walking around. This way they'll have a costume all set for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/bioshock-franchise-ships-1-5m-units-l-a-noire-bumped-from-fi/"><em>BioShock 2</em></a> launch party (assuming the game takes place in Rapture).<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Opening bid price was lowered to $799 this morning.<br /></div>

This Samus number effortlessly trumps the lot, however.<br /><br />For starters, <em>it's Samus</em>. Samus cosplay is <em>not </em>a walk in the park, kids. We can only <em>begin</em> to imagine the sheer frustration involved in accurately recreating the Power Suit, with all of its peculiar angles and ridges (not to mention those awkward shoulder spheres). Which makes this effort, featuring Swedish student Jenni K&auml;llberg, all the more admirable.<br /><br />More pictures after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/against-all-odds-samus-cosplay-looks-surprisingly-good/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Against all odds, Samus cosplay looks surprisingly good</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/against-all-odds-samus-cosplay-looks-surprisingly-good/">Against all odds, Samus cosplay looks surprisingly good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Nov 2007 22:40:00 EST. It's a little late for Halloween, but you can always pick up this promotional <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/30/metareview-manhunt-2/">Manhunt 2</a> </em>costume on eBay for next year. What's a better costume than "doctor who got some blood on him, and also a video game logo for some reason?" Nothing, that's what. Of course, you can only do that <em>if</em> society doesn't collapse due to the "easily accessible" uncensored violent content in <em>Manhunt 2</em> turning every child in America into a thoughtless murderer. You'd better hope that all children <em>don't</em> turn into bloodthirsty maniacs, for the sake of Halloween parties.<br /><br />Wow, that's the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/collect-some-evidence-of-manhunt-2-before-the-game-disappears/">second time this week</a> that looking at <em>Manhunt </em>stuff turned our thoughts to the end of society. Maybe there <em>is</em> something to all the protesting.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamesniped.com/2007/11/09/3do-robo-manhunt-2-scrubs-atari-pat-9000-resident-evil-ad/">GameSniped</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/more-manhunt-2-promo-stuff-hits-ebay/">More Manhunt 2 promo stuff hits eBay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. <br />Theresa Murphy's intentions were well-meaning when she planned out this costume, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halloween">dressing up as Kat, half of the <em></em></a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/warioware">WarioWare</a></em> series' ninja-sister duo. There must have been some misstep during the creation process, however, some supernatural treachery, that produced this absolutely creepy paper mache head. Our best guess is that a dying killer snuck into Theresa's house and performed a voodoo ritual to <a href="http://imdb.com/title/tt0094862/">imbue the mask with his evil soul</a>, all while she was distracted by a Geico TV commercial.<br /><br />Gone are our memories of Kat as a cute <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/minigame/">minigame</a> ninja. In their place, we see a black and white scene of Kat pulling herself out of a well, her fingertips crusted with blackened blood and her skin sallow. She tramps toward us, and the only thing we can hear is the smack of her wet, sock-covered feet on hard ground. Our eyes are wide with horror, screaming, but we cannot move.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/warioware-costume-makes-cosplay-not-fun-anymore/">WarioWare costume makes cosplay not fun anymore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 17:00:00 EST.
