According to a now deleted forum post on BioWare's official site, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a>'s action figures have been once again delayed, this time until April. Google, however, caught the quote from a BioWare spokesperson, who said "Once we get the <em>ME2</em> Action Figure shipped we will not be working with DC Direct again ... Their handling of this issue has been extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to fans."<br />
<br />
It also appears that a proposed second set of characters from <em>Mass Effect 2</em> that were on-track for action figure treatment have been canned, as the figures have been removed from DC Direct's website. As such, the continuing battle for Planet Your Shelf will only be fought by Default Shepard, Grunt, Tali, and Thane when the figures launch on April 27.<br />

Wondering what those announced, but mostly unseen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dc-direct">DC Direct</a> gaming figures look like? We spotted them this morning at the NY Comic Con, casually posing in a glass case. Most of the items aren't for sale until later this year -- we might find that more troubling if it weren't bank account <em>depletion</em> season (read: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/q4-2010">Q4</a>).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/">DC Direct at New York Comic Con 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1087_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451278"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1088_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451281"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1091_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451284"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1093_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451287"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1095_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/09/dc-directs-ny-comic-con-offerings-full-of-gaming-all-stars/">DC Direct's NY Comic Con offerings full of gaming all-stars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 14:00:00 EST. We can easily wrap our minds around the hobby of coin collection -- after all, coins <em>are</em> pretty awesome, and at the end of the day, you're really just spending money on money, making it a relatively low-cost endeavor. However, DC Direct's recently pressed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>-themed currency -- which comes in a set of one bronze, silver and gold coin, each featuring a faction leader and major city from the MMO on both sides -- is a bit beyond our understanding.<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/706582/World-of-Warcraft-Virtual-Cash-Gets-Real.html">G4</a>, these three coins were on sale at Comic-Con for $69.99, though their real-life spendability is negligible at best. Heck, even if you wanted to use them to purchase your Artisan Riding skill and mount, you'd have to shell out well over $350,000 in order to do so. Then again, those things ... aren't real. But these coins are! And, as we've said, coins are <em>awesome</em>. We're so conflicted!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/30/world-of-warcraft-currency-becomes-real-world-coins/">World of Warcraft currency becomes real-world coins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jul 2010 03:00:00 EST. Holy late money grab, Batman! It appears that in the June 2010 issue of Toyfare magazine will reveal a cadre of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum">Batman: Arkham Asylum</a></em> characters in action figure form (as pointed out by <a href="http://www.previewsworld.com/public/default.asp?t=6&amp;m=1&amp;c=23&amp;s=214&amp;sn=415933">Previews</a>). Though the issue will miss the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/batman-arkham-asylum-goty-edition-coming-to-na-in-may/">May release date</a> of Bats' Game of the Year edition, it'll arrive on store shelves by early June. <br />
<br />
June's issue is said to feature "a sneak peek at some of 2010's hottest video games and hottest video game toys," including the Dark Knight, among others. The listing also notes that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dc-direct">DC Direct</a>, makers of, well, <em>lots</em> of other video game action figures, will apparently be tasked with putting little Bats and crew together. It probably doesn't hurt that the "DC" in DC Direct is of the DC Comics variety, owners of the Batman IP. All will be revealed on June 9, so get your Bat Credit Card at the ready, folks!<br />

According to <a href="http://previewsworld.com/support/previews_docs/orderforms/FEB10_COF.txt">Previews' February order form</a>, <em>Mass Effect</em> isn't the only BioWare property <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/mass-effect-2-figures-feature-shepard-if-not-your-shepard/">getting the action figure treatment</a> from toy manufacturer DC Direct. Located on the form are four listings for statuette'd <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-age-origins"><em>Dragon Age: Origins</em></a> characters, including Morrigan, Loghain, Duncan and, everyone's favorite troublemaker, Genlock. No price is listed for these figures, but a release date of September 29 is mentioned.<br />
<br />
Though we know it's not technically feasible, we're still a little disappointed that we can't get a figure made of our customizable protagonist. We're pretty sure DC Direct wouldn't know to make him look like Ernest Borgnine, but with a horrifically long chin. Nor would they know to call the figurine by his Christian name, Borgnine Mountainjaw.<br />

While DC's upcoming <em>Mass Effect 2</em> <a href="http://www.dccomics.com/dcdirect/?cat=JUST+ANNOUNCED">figure series</a> includes decent likenesses of Thane, Grunt and Tali, the company is <em>way off</em> on its version of Shepard. In DC's defense, however, the company has no idea what <em>your</em> Shepard looks like, so it was stuck with a mold for Default Shepard instead of the <em>real</em> Shepard -- who everyone knows is vaguely Asian <em>and</em> female.<br />
<br />
According to the scans of DC's solicitation book, posted by <a href="http://www.gamervision.com/gamer/00_19/news/article/first_look_at_dc_39_s_mass_effect_2_action_figures">Gamervision</a>, the figures are still pending approval, but are due for release August 25 of this year. By then, you may be done with <em>Mass Effect 2</em>, so you can use these action figures to stage your own adventures on Planet Your Shelf.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/mass-effect-2-figures-feature-shepard-if-not-your-shepard/">Mass Effect 2 figures feature Shepard, if not your Shepard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 14:30:00 EST. <div align="left">DC Comics toy line, DC Direct, is adding a familiar (but non-DC) property its upcoming action figure lineup: <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank</em>. Consummate comics blog <a href="http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=26747">Newsarama</a> managed to snag a first glimpse of the line, which DC unveiled at today's <a href="http://www.comicspro.org/meet09.html">ComicsPRO 2009 industry event</a>.<br /><br />Prototypes of three series headliners -- Ratchet, Doctor Nefarious and Captain Quark -- have been shown thus far. What? Oh yes, Clank is a headliner, too. He's also one of three sidekick figures which we, er, <em>figure </em>will come packaged with their respective partners. DC Direct hasn't priced or dated the line as of yet, but you can see a <a href="http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album_view.php?gid=914&amp;page=1">high-res photo</a> of its first (and possibly only) wave at the source link.<br /></div>
