Magical realism makes it possible. "I'm in discussion with Tomio [Kanazawa, of Toybox Games] about the future of Deadly Premontion. It may not be Deadly Premonition 2 but it's definitely going to be something," he said. The open-world horror, action, mystery, etc. game will have "reworked" controls for its combat, a new scenario designed by creator SWERY, and will support additional downloadable content.<br /><br />It's also probably going to be really weird. And it's not a sequel.<br /><br />Deadly Premonition is being "remastered" and updated for PS3, by a team headed by Swery65, working in concert with the two-man Toybox studio. The new version, which will be further detailed at E3, will include new content, including new "scenarios" -- and support for the PlayStation Move. We're sure the whole thing will make much more sense with motion controls.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/08/deadly-premonition-being-remastered-for-ps3-with-move-support/">Deadly Premonition being remastered for PS3, with Move support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Mar 2012 17:35:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deadly-premonition"><em>Deadly Premonition</em></a> creator Hidetaka Suehiro, known as "Swery," is full of crazy ideas -- as anyone who played his weird, sprawling, Twin Peaks-inspired game will tell you. Some of the ideas currently occupying Swery's mind involve new games, and extensions of <em>Deadly Premonition</em>.<br />
<br />
"What I can say," the Access Games producer told Metro, "is that I'm making a storyline for a completely new game." As for <em>Deadly Premonition</em>, he's got "different types" of projects in mind. "Trying to think of ways to create a sequel, that's definitely on the table, trying to create a prequel is also definitely on the table; and also a project to have more people play Deadly Premonition."<br />
<br />
An easy guess as to the identity of that last project: bringing the PS3 version of the game, currently available in Japan, to the West. All of these projects, as Swery has noted before, will require <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/29/deadly-premonition-director-wants-to-make-a-new-game-just-cant/">money</a> before he can take them on -- which might not be a problem anymore. Swery said that "A few publishers have contacted our company, after the success of <em>Deadly Premonition</em>, and we are now creating concepts for them - which is why there's so many things on the table right now. "<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/swery-considering-new-game-more-deadly-premonition-projects/">Swery considering new game, more Deadly Premonition projects</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 20:40:00 EST. Swery65, the director of last year's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deadly-premonition"><em>Deadly Premonition</em></a>, has taken to the Internet <a href="http://www.accessgames-blog.com/swery65/2011/06/post-b8bf.html">in a new blog posting</a> asking for support for a brand new title. He says that his team at Access Games is <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/deadly-premonition-creator-planning-a-new-game-204703.phtml">itching to start a new project</a>, but game design takes more than just dreams and ideas -- apparently it takes time and money as well. And since time<em> is</em> money, he basically just needs money.<br />
<br />
"I want to make a new game," he wrote. "As much as I want, but that alone is not enough to start the process. Would anyone be ready to invest in us?" Swery doesn't say anything about what kind of game he plans to make, but does promise that he'll "work until it kills me," and that the team will definitely "make something good."<br />
<br />
Any big-time investors out there willing to call his bluff? It seems like, despite <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/deadly-premonition">the mixed reception for <em>Deadly Premonition</em></a> around the world, Swery shouldn't have too much trouble finding a publisher sooner or later. Even if not, there's always <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/">Kickstarter</a>, right?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/29/deadly-premonition-director-wants-to-make-a-new-game-just-cant/">Deadly Premonition director wants to make a new game, just can't afford it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Jun 2011 03:00:00 EST. Eager to virtually explore the bizarre world of Agent York in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deadly-premonition"><em>Deadly Premonition</em></a>, but can't seem to locate a hard copy of the cult hit? Rising Star Games has you covered, as the publisher plans to launch the title digitally through Xbox Live's Games on Demand service next week, on July 5, for an unannounced price -- at least in the UK. We've reached out to <em>DP</em>'s North American publisher, Ignition Entertainment, to see if it's landing Stateside as well.<br />
<br />
So, rather than spending July 5 sweating profusely, how about grabbing a piping hot cup of coffee, turning on the AC, and walking through the doors of perception with us? Don't worry, <em>we'll bring the pie</em>.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> The game will cost &pound;14.99/&euro;19.99 in the UK/EU, and Rising Star is only handling distribution in PAL territories. We've yet to hear back from Ignition reps.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/deadly-premonition-walking-backwards-to-uk-games-on-demand-next/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deadly Premonition walking backwards to UK Games on Demand next week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/deadly-premonition-walking-backwards-to-uk-games-on-demand-next/">Deadly Premonition walking backwards to UK Games on Demand next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jun 2011 22:00:00 EST. Former Marvelous partner and "Home of Japanese Games" Rising Star Games will publish the surreal open-world Xbox 360 game in Europe this "autumn," for &pound;24.99 ($39), which isn't <em>quite</em> as wallet-friendly as the North American release's $19.99 price point, but is still less than full price.<br />
<br />
In the press release, Rising Star noted the unusual <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/deadlypremonition?q=deadly%20premonition">range</a> of reactions from reviewers, including <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1070909p1.html">IGN's</a> 2/10 review. Seriously, this quote is in the press release announcing the game: "Awful in nearly every way... Terrible controls. Terrible pacing. Terrible sound effects. Terrible visuals." Absolutely everything about this game is insane, even the people publishing it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/11/rising-star-games-sees-a-deadly-premonition-in-europe/">Rising Star Games sees a Deadly Premonition in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Aug 2010 23:20:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deadly-premonition"><em>Deadly Premonition</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/el-shaddai-ascension-of-the-metatron"><em>El Shaddai</em></a> publisher Ignition Entertainment recently underwent <a href="http://gamasutra.com/view/news/29476/Ignition_Rebrands_To_Increase_Focus_On_Online_Platforms.php">a bit of restructuring</a>, leading it to adopt part of the moniker of its parent company, UTV Group. The publisher, henceforth named UTV Ignition Entertainment, will now focus on delivering downloadable titles on digital platforms including PSN, XBLA, Steam, Facebook, Google Games and the App Store.<br />
<br />
The change was made to satisfy "a demand to market and publish games at more inclusive price points that maintain the same level of quality as their boxed counterparts," UTV Ignition chairman Hassan Sadiq explained in a recent statement. We suppose that's an admirable goal, though we'll never forgive them for missing the perfect opportunity to name their business "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6y_4_b6RS8">Remix to Ignition</a>." For shame, you guys. <em>For shame</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/19/ignition-entertainment-rebrands-focusing-on-digital-content/">Ignition Entertainment rebrands, focusing on digital content</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Jul 2010 20:30:00 EST. The low-budget survival horror game received an unusual range of <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/deadlypremonition?q=deadly%20premonition">reviews</a> -- from a 2/10 from <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1070909p1.html">IGN</a> to <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/review-deadly-premonition-165168.phtml">Destructoid's</a> 10/10, with everything in between. Those that <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3178205&amp;p=4">did like the game</a> describe it as a combination of <em>Twin Peaks</em>-like storytelling and awkward writing, which are often the key ingredients for a cult hit.<br />
<br />
Of course, the main motivator for <em>Deadly Premonition's</em> uptick in sales was Amazon's discount. On Wednesday, it was the retailer's Deal of the Day, with its price knocked down from $19.99 to $14.98. Apparently, a lot of people were waiting until it dropped under $20. Sadly, the game has <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WSR8BC?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B002WSR8BC">returned</a> to its exorbitant original price.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/09/amazon-discount-sparks-chart-topping-deadly-premonition-sales/">Amazon discount sparks chart-topping sales of Deadly Premonition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Apr 2010 11:30:00 EST. But when Ignition picked it up, it was announced as a $19.99 budget title for Xbox 360 only. However, the ESRB rating for <em>Deadly Premonition</em>, which lists Ignition as the publisher, shows PS3 in the list of platforms.<br /> <br /> We're just like the game's Agent Francis York Morgan, except instead of a gruesome, unexplained murder, we're investigating an ESRB rating, and instead of looking around a mysterious town in search of clues, we've emailed Ignition. But it's the same basic thing. <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/">Deadly Premonition (Xbox 360)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/#2440529"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/deadlypremonition111001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/#2440530"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/deadlypremonition111002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/#2440531"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/deadlypremonition111003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/#2440532"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/deadlypremonition111004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deadly-premonition-xbox-360/#2440533"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/deadlypremonition111005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/esrb-rates-deadly-premonition-for-ps3/">ESRB rates Deadly Premonition for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Nov 2009 09:55:00 EST. The game is the second original work from <a href="http://www.accessgames.co.jp">Access Games</a>, who created the PS2 stealth game <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_Fiction_(video_game)">Spy Fiction</a>,</em> and also codeveloped <em>The </em><em>Sky Crawlers</em> and <em>Ace Combat X</em>.<br />
<br />
The game stars an FBI agent investigating a murder in <strike>Silent Hill</strike> a rural town full of unexplained events, mysterious characters, and, apparently, dripping blood. It will feature exploration and driving in addition to fighting creepy Jawas. Ignition predicts an early 2010 release.<br />
<br />
If this game looks familiar to you, you have a really good memory! It was announced back in 2007 as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainy-woods"><em>Rainy Woods</em></a>, and was a multiplatform release at the time. It's now been renamed and targeted just at the 360.<br />
