Next thing you know, you're in a car accident, and wake up at a demented, run-down amusement park called Queen Christine's Dream Land. There, a man in a suit with the head of a cow explains that you can get your arm back to form by throwing your way to the castle at the end of the park -- while wearing a bionic arm.<br /><br />This is <em>Diabolical Pitch</em>, the latest XBLA title from Grasshopper Manufacture. As odd as it sounds, what's important to note is that this game is dependent on Microsoft's Kinect peripheral, and every throw by McAllister is a real-life throw by you.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/06/diabolical-pitch-review-field-of-nightmares/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Diabolical Pitch review: Field of nightmares</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/06/diabolical-pitch-review-field-of-nightmares/">Diabolical Pitch review: Field of nightmares</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Apr 2012 17:15:00 EST. From today through the 9th, <em>King of Fighters '98, 2002</em>, and <em>Sky Stage</em>, <em>Metal Slugs 3</em> and <em>XX</em>, and <em>Trouble Witches</em> are all 50% off. Rockstar is holding a "Max Payne sale" as well, with 33% savings.<br /><br />Next week will see the arrival of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fez"><em>Fez</em></a> and a Call of Duty DLC sale. We wonder how the network will handle the combination of those two events.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/03/diabolical-pitch-less-diabolical-snk-savings-on-xbox-live-this/">Diabolical Pitch, less diabolical SNK savings on Xbox Live this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Apr 2012 11:00:00 EST. Major Nelson revealed that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/diabolical-pitch"><em>Diabolical Pitch</em></a>, Grasshopper Manufacture's damned freaky Kinect game, will be out on that day.<br /><br />There's no more new info, as it was just a blurb in a roundup of news from Microsoft's recent press event, but no amount of explanation would make that game make sense anyway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/06/diabolical-pitch-crosses-home-plate-april-4/">Diabolical Pitch crosses home plate April 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Mar 2012 02:38:00 EST. We haven't yet gotten our hands on Grasshopper's upcoming Kinect throw-em-up, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/grasshopper-manufactures-kinect-xbla-diabolical-pitch-revealed/">Diabolical Pitch</a>, </em>but that didn't stop us from grabbing some shaky-cam footage of the first trailer and of someone giving the game a whirl at the developer's pre-TGS shindig.<br />
<br />
Check out the trailer above. A gameplay demo is all wound up after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/diabolical-pitch-gameplay-demon-strated-at-tgs-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Diabolical Pitch gameplay demon-strated at TGS 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/diabolical-pitch-gameplay-demon-strated-at-tgs-2011/">Diabolical Pitch gameplay demon-strated at TGS 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 21:55:00 EST. During a pre-TGS event, "video game band" Grasshopper Manufacture unveiled <em>Diabolical Pitch</em>, the Kinect title first announced last year as "<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/codename-d">Codename D</a>." And it is absolutely a game about a baseball player pitching and batting balls at oncoming monsters.<br />
<br />
Two players are shown at once lobbing baseballs, lifting one another up for health support, and even joining hands in a DBZ-like "fusion" pose for a special attack, against what looked like a vaguely disco-esque baseball field.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/grasshopper-manufactures-kinect-xbla-diabolical-pitch-revealed/">Grasshopper Manufacture's Kinect/XBLA game Diabolical Pitch revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 05:16:00 EST. Given the "evil" and "baseball" elements in said trailer, it seems likely that the name "Diabolical Pitch," just trademarked in Japan by GHM, applies to this. Also, the name starts with a D. By the way, if you missed the trailer, you can see it after the break.<br />

If true, that name suggests that there's more to that flaming baseball than just being a weird weapon at hand. Perhaps you actually play the game by pitching virtual baseballs at evil tiger-mask guys?<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/">Codename D (Kinect)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/#3368261"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/d01-1284607821_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/#3368262"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/d02-1284607825_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/#3368263"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/d03-1284607830_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/#3368264"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/codename-d-white_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/codename-d-kinect/#3368265"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/09/codename-d-black_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/12/grasshopper-manufacture-registers-trademark-for-diabolical-pitc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Grasshopper Manufacture registers trademark for 'Diabolical Pitch'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/12/grasshopper-manufacture-registers-trademark-for-diabolical-pitc/">Grasshopper Manufacture registers trademark for 'Diabolical Pitch'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Jan 2011 17:30:00 EST. Microsoft Game Studios unveiled five new Japanese partnerships during its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/microsoft-tgs-2010-liveblog/">Tokyo Game Show 2010 keynote</a> today, each intended to "provide fun for users throughout the world." Takashi Sensui, general manager of Xbox in Japan, claimed the projects would "define the future of Xbox 360 and Kinect" -- a future that now promises Kinect-enabled Xbox Live Arcade games.<br />
<br />
Out of the five new XBLA-exclusive games announced today, three will use Kinect: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/haunt-to-materialize-on-kinect-in-2011/">Haunt</a></em>, a spooky adventure from <em>Parappa the Rappa</em>'s Masaya Matsuura; <strike><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/project-draco-brings-dragons-to-kinect-in-2011/">Project</a></em></strike><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/project-draco-brings-dragons-to-kinect-in-2011/"> Codename D</a></em>, a stylish new endeavor from Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda 51; and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/project-draco-brings-dragons-to-kinect-in-2011/">Project Draco</a></em>, a <em>Panzer Dragoon</em>-esque flight game from <em>Phantom Dust</em> creator Yukio Futatsugi. These will join third-party Kinect games <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/child-of-eden">Child of Eden</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/steel-battalion-heavy-armor-goes-button-free-on-kinect/">Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/rise-of-nightmares-attacks-kinect-in-2011/">Rise of Nightmares</a></em> in 2011.<br />
<br />
Microsoft also revealed <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/fire-pro-wrestling-pins-xbox-360-release-with-avatar-support/">Fire-Pro Wrestling</a></em> from Spike, and a new version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/radiant-silvergun-shining-on-xbla/">Radiant Silvergun</a></em> from Treasure (much to the chagrin of eBay profiteers). Both are coming to XBLA in 2011.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/kinect-comes-to-xbla-microsoft-game-studios-reveals-five-japane/">Kinect comes to XBLA, Microsoft Game Studios reveals five Japanese titles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 00:10:00 EST. <em>No More Heroes</em> and <em>Killer 7</em> auteur Suda 51 is a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/is-the-long-awaited-suda-mikami-ea-partners-collaboration/">busy, busy boy</a> this TGS. During the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/microsoft-tgs-2010-liveblog/">Microsoft Press Conference</a> the Grasshopper Manufacture head announced the studio is working on a Kinect game entitled <em>Codename D</em>. Mr. 51 stated that the game will not feature guns or swords but will be a core action game. The brief trailer showed a lot of things exploding and a Suda dose of weirdness. The game is scheduled for 2011.<br />
