Sony is releasing two new DualShock 3 color schemes in Japan, in honor of two upcoming games. For the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection"><em>Metal Gear Solid HD Collection</em></a> and <em>Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD Edition,</em> SCEJ has an "<a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/110906b.html">Urban Camouflage</a>" model. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/uncharted-3-drakes-deception"><em>Uncharted 3</em></a> gets a tan/brown DualShock with a print of Drake's ring. They both fit the theme of their games and all, but they're not nearly as amusing as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/mlb-11-includes-free-mlb-tv-trial-new-baseball-dualshock-reveal/">baseball DualShock</a>.<br />
<br />
Japanese PS3 owners will be able to execute an on-site procurement of the <em>Metal Gear</em> controller by itself on November 17, for &yen;5,500 ($71). The <em>Uncharted 3</em> controller is bundled with the game, and will be available November 2 for &yen;9,980 ($129).<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> The "urban camo" controller will be released in North America this November, as <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/article/69880/ps3-getting-urban-digital-camo-controller">Shacknews</a> reported last month. It's not being billed as a <em>Metal Gear</em> tie-in here.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/06/metal-gear-solid-hd-uncharted-3-themed-dualshocks-coming-to-jap/">Metal Gear Solid HD, Uncharted 3 themed DualShocks coming to Japan [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Sep 2011 09:30:00 EST. Well, we'd like to see you get even, and today's announcement and (free) release of <em>Buzz!: Quiz Player</em>, previously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/esrb-outs-buzz-quiz-player-for-ps3/">outed by the ESRB</a>, seems like a good start.<br />
<br />
<em>Quiz Player</em> features 90 sample questions in the free base app launching on PSN today, plus classic <em>Buzz!</em> staples like Point Builder, Fastest Finger, Point Stealer and Final Countdown. The game supports the traditional <em>Buzz! </em>controllers <em>and</em> DualShock 3s -- which is most welcome, since it allows <em>everyone</em> a chance at those those quiz night know-it-alls. Honestly, they have it coming. <br />
<br />
Vendettas aside, other question packs will be available through in-game purchase, covering such topics as Comedy, Rock Legends, Space and U.S. Sports, <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/12/21/buzz-quiz-player-delivers-free-fun-today-with-facebook-integration-dualshock-support/">according to</a> associate producer Jenny Barbour, who also confirmed Facebook integration. Though, the feature questionably involves publishing your game details online. You wouldn't want your Facebook friends to find out you had no idea which volcano leveled Pompeii in 74 AD, would you?<br />
<br />
<small>Psst, it was "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj7Fl-lz7K4#t=1m34.8s">Mount Suvius</a>."</small><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/21/freemium-buzz-quiz-player-comes-to-psn-today-with-dualshock-s/">Freemium 'Buzz!: Quiz Player' comes to PSN today, with DualShock support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Dec 2010 18:10:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mlb-11-the-show">Next year</a>'s iteration of Sony's <em>MLB</em> series will include a special treat for baseball fans. Sure, there's a laundry list of features, such as PlayStation Move support, 3D, and a new analog control system -- but our eyes bolted towards the free trial of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mlb.tv">MLB.TV</a>. If you pre-order and purchase the game, you'll get 30 days of access to MLB's premium on-demand service, which is also available on the PS3. Given a season membership costs <a href="http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/gift.jsp">$100</a>, the trial is certainly a nice perk.<br />
<br />
To coincide with the launch of <em>MLB 11</em>, Sony has announced yet another limited-edition DualShock 3 controller. A white PS3 controller with baseball stripes will be available on March 8th, the same day as <em>MLB 11</em>, and will retail for $55.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/mlb-11-includes-free-mlb-tv-trial-new-baseball-dualshock-reveal/">MLB 11 includes free MLB.TV trial, new baseball DualShock revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Dec 2010 15:40:00 EST. While it's no <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/game-boat">Game Boat</a>, the Sharp Shooter attachment for PlayStation Move outdoes the already released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/playstation-move-shooting-attachment-is-groovy/">shooting attachment</a> by transforming your motion controller into a full-fledged plastic rifle, with adjustable shoulder stocks and pump-action.<br />
<br />
We tried the peripheral with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/killzone-3">Killzone 3</a> </em>and found aiming to be relatively easy. Shooting with the trigger feels good, and the ability to reload using the built-in pump should make for a fun (albeit cheesy) experience. The placement of the PlayStation face buttons on the side of the controller felt counterintuitive, making things like jumping much, much more difficult. It'll be interesting to see how other Move shooters feel with the odd button layout.<br />
<br />
If you need this plastic cradle for your Move controller, you'll have to shell out $40 -- nearly the cost of a Move controller itself! If you'd still rather play with "regular controllers," Sony also announced a new DualShock color: Jungle Green, available in February to coincide with the launch of <em>Killzone 3</em>. See what it looks like after the break.<br />

First-party PS3 controllers are still retailing at the relatively lofty price point of $45 (plus tax!) -- wouldn't you rather pay just a <em>little bit</em> more and get a game to go along with your peripheral? Amazon will give you the opportunity to do just that with a selection of $60 bundles, which include a DualShock 3 controller and your choice of "Greatest Hit" in <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003I83VMU/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">LittleBigPlanet: GOTY Edition</a></em>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4ZU7K/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>Resistance 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4WP32/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>Killzone 2</em></a> or <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4ZU9I/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>inFamous</em></a>.<br />
<br />
These pairings seem to be an extension of the <em>Uncharted</em>/DualShock bundle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/amazon-lists-uncharted-dualshock-3-combo-pack/">offered</a> last December. Like the <em>Uncharted</em> deal, these bundles will likely be available at a number of other retailers -- but we've highlighted Amazon because it offers free shipping!<br />

Look, if for some crazy reason you've <em>still</em> not gotten yourself a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dualshock3">DualShock 3</a> and, even <em>crazier</em>, haven't played through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-drakes-fortune"><em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em></a>, then you might want to check out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Y2WBCM?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B002Y2WBCM">this Amazon bundle</a> -- which is set to release December 15. <br /> <br /> For $60, you'll get a black DualShock 3 controller and experience every earth-shaking explosion in Nathan Drake's first adventure through glorious rumble or -- given the time of year -- gift your procrastinator friend or loved one with one sweet bundle, granted they haven't already acquired a new console in the last year or a new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a>. <br /> <br /> There's no word whether Sony will offer other bundles and together the two will only save you $7 right now (Amazon is pricing the game at $27 and the controller at $40), but we still wouldn't suggest playing <em>Uncharted</em> without a DualShock 3. What are you, some chump on the street not getting the fullest from your games? No, you hold yourself to a <em>higher</em> standard. <br /> <br /> [Thanks, Yingerman!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/amazon-lists-uncharted-dualshock-3-combo-pack/">Amazon lists Uncharted/DualShock 3 combo pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 18:00:00 EST. If you don't factor <em>girth</em> into your console purchasing decisions, then <a href="http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&amp;storeId=10151&amp;langId=-1&amp;productId=8198552921665772280#additionalImage1%22">SonyStyle has the best deal</a> on a PlayStation 3 we've seen to date -- for just $249, you can pick up a 80GB PS3 Phat and an additional DualShock 3 controller. Sure, it may lack the svelteness and hard drive space of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a>, but for a $50 discount and a free controller, we think it's well worth the trade-off.<br />
<br />
Equally tantalizing is the <a href="http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&amp;storeId=10151&amp;langId=-1&amp;productId=8198552921665695056#additionalImage1%22">160GB PS3 Drake's Fortune Bundle</a>, which includes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-drakes-fortune"><em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em></a>, a voucher a free download of <em>Pain</em> and an additional DualShock 3 controller for $349. Again, if you don't mind the additional <em>chunky pounds</em>, an added $50 on top of the PS3 Slim cost is a small price to pay for these savory bonuses. Hell, if they'd throw in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/hurt-david-hasselhoff-in-pain-expansion/">David Hasselhoff <em>Pain</em> DLC</a>, we'd probably buy two.<br />
<br />

Can shoulder buttons still be called "shoulder buttons" when they no longer sit perched upon the Dualshock 3's shoulders? Could they be more aptly described as "hip buttons?" Regardless, the onus for renaming these toggles now rests upon <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ben-heck">modder extraordinaire Ben Heck</a>, who made the controller's L1, L2, R1 and R2 buttons "easier to get at" by <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2009/09/17/customized-ps3-controller-ben-heck/">placing them on the front</a> of the controller (at the cost of the peripheral's rumble motors).<br /> <br /> We're perfectly contented with the shoulder buttons' current location, but we suppose folks who lost their index digits in a terrible Chinese Finger Trap incident may find this mod useful.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/18/ben-heck-moves-ps3-shoulder-buttons-to-the-front-spins-us-right/">Engadget</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/ben-heck-moves-dualshocks-shoulder-buttons-to-the-front/">Ben Heck moves Dualshock's shoulder buttons to the front</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Sep 2009 14:00:00 EST. A growing thread on the <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3updates&amp;thread.id=97467&amp;view=by_date_ascending&amp;page=1">official PlayStation 3 forum</a> alleges the recent hardware firmware upgrade to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/ps3-firmware-3-00-adds-animation-to-the-xmb/">version 3.00</a> has spawned a host of controller connection issues for PS3 users. According to the forum, various wireless controllers -- some users specifically naming DualShock3 model CECHZC2H (Ceramic White) -- are unable to connect to the console. When turned on, users claim the controller LEDs for ports 1 and 2 activate, but the controller remains inoperable.<br /><br />Users attempting to troubleshoot the problem claim that resetting the controller (through the built-in pinhole reset function) and plugging it directly into the console (via USB) do not correct the error, with one user going so far as doing a complete system restore to no avail. The issue, however, appears to be isolated, but is still a concern for a number of gamers.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Overnight, the issue has spawned an interesting development. Users are pointing out that the problem may be isolated to "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mji_PLB7Tb0">knock-off</a>" PS3 controllers. Joystiq has contacted Sony for an update to see if XMB 3.00 targets these fakes or if the controller issue is simply a byproduct of the controllers not being able to catch up with the new firmware.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/firmware-3-00-blamed-for-malfunctioning-ps3-controllers/">Firmware 3.00 blamed for malfunctioning PS3 controllers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Sep 2009 17:45:00 EST. This seems like one of those things that, when a Sony representative sees it, it elicits a sharp forehead smack, accompanied by the following exclamation: "Why didn't I think of that?" A clever eBay user known as "thegroovygamer" recently put a lovingly crafted <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> pod replica <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=140337195617&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT">on the virtual auction block</a>. Of course, it wouldn't be an <em>exact</em> replica without two additional items: A DualShock 3 controller, and a little Sackboy to inhabit it.<br /><br />We would have bought an armful of these bundles had Sony released them in the thick of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> fever last fall. Oh, heck -- we'd buy an armful now. Just throw in a few sticker sheets, and we'll get out our checkbooks.<br /><br />[Thanks, Corey!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/littlebigplanet-pod-replica-making-ebay-a-bit-more-adorable/">LittleBigPlanet pod replica making eBay a bit more adorable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. This new color will set you back $54.99, which is the same MSRP as the standard black controller.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://twitter.com/SonyPlayStation/status/2331348163">Twitter</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/25/silver-dualshock-3-controllers-now-available-at-gamestop/">Silver DualShock 3 controllers now available at GameStop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Jun 2009 16:15:00 EST. <div align="left">We first saw evidence that Sony might be planning to expand the selection of DualShock 3 colors in the US last month, when retailer GameStop <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/silver-dualshock-3-controller-spotted-at-gamestop/">listed a silver version of the controller</a> for release on June 24. Now we have a photo, via a tipster, of what's purportedly a US model of the white DualShock 3 already available in Japan -- purchased at a Wal-Mart in Florida. Henry, who sent in the photo, says it was the only one left at the store where he bought it. He also included additional pics showing the rest of the seemingly North American packaging, complete with bilingual English / French adorning the front and back. <br /><br />Naturally, we got in touch with Sony to ask about this find ... and were told it doesn't exist. Specifically, when we inquired whether this was some sort of "stealth" release, an SCEA hardware PR rep told us, "<font face="sans-serif" size="2">We have no plans to release a white Dualshock 3.</font>" No plans? Did someone not get the memo, or, as our tipster suggests, accidentally ship out something that's not due to be announced until E3?<br /><br />This is where you come in. If you spot a white, official first-party DualShock 3 in US packaging, send us a photo along with info on when and where you saw it. Better yet, if you find and <em>buy one</em>, send us a photo of the receipt, too. You know <a href="mailto:tips@joystiq.com?subject=White%20US%20DualShock%203%20sighting">how to reach us</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Henry!]<br /><br /></div>

People have been using <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/09/quick-guide-on-how-to-use-your-sixaxis-on-the-pc/">Sixaxis controllers on PCs</a> for a long time now. But, what about DualShock 3s with rumble support? Apparently, it's now possible. A Japanese coder has released four drivers which allow Windows users to play games on PC with a DS3, tweak some of the controller parameters and subsequently employ rumble. It sounds like a fun experiment to play around with, though, from the looks of it, the driver menus are mostly in Japanese. Check <a href="http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=179397">DCEmu UK</a> for instructions in English.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/sonys-dualshock-3-controller-hacked-to-work-in-windows/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/use-dualshock-3-with-rumble-on-pc-thanks-to-new-hack/">Use DualShock 3 with rumble on PC thanks to new hack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 07:00:00 EST. Famitsu reports (via <a href="http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/917/917301p1.html?RSSwhen2008-10-08_000600&amp;RSSid=917301">IGN</a>) that Sony will release the 80GB PS3 in Japan for the same price as the current 40GB model. For a limited time the company will also include <em>Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III</em> with the system.<br /><br />Sony will also offer an 80GB PS3 <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> bundle with extra <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dualshock-3">DualShock 3</a> controller for about $50 more than the standard 80GB version. The company also plans to have a <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> and DualShock 3 bundle for about $80. All the new 80GB models, including the <em>LBP</em> controller bundle, will be offered in black, white and silver color varieties (already available for the 40GB as well). Remember, all this information applies only to Japan, so don't go thinking it's going to be a white 80GB PS3 Christmas.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/80gb-ps3-releasing-in-japan-with-bundles-various-colors/">80GB PS3 releasing in Japan with bundles, various colors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 09:30:00 EST. <div align="left">DualShock 3 controllers are currently on sale at Amazon -- you can snatch one up right now for $40.96 with free shipping. That's more than $14 off the MSRP of $54.99. Take advantage of this deal here <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FPlaystation-3-Dualshock-Wireless-Controller%2Fdp%2FB0015AARJI&amp;tag=psfa-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">now</a>.<br /><br />$40.96 still a bit steep for you? Amazon also has third-party Nyko controllers for sale. They contain the vibration function and SIXAXIS just like a regular DualShock 3, though they are considerably less sexy. But at $14.98, you gotta make some sacrifices. It looks like they only have a certain number of the controllers for sale at this price, so hurry up if you are interested. The deal you want is right <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fgoldbox&amp;tag=psfa-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">here</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/14021">Slickdeals</a> and thanks to Joshua M.!]</div>

It was a sad day indeed when the rumor that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eternal-sonata"><span style="font-style: italic;">Eternal Sonata</span></a> might not see the light of day outside of Japan. Thankfully, that rumor may be just another one to stick on the "Not Gonna Happen" pile, as the game has been spotted on the official UK DualShock 3 compatibility list. The list itself was updated on July 8th, only two days ago, along with a whole host of games including some which are due to come out in the next year or so, such as <span style="font-style: italic;">Edge Of Twilight</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Brutal Legend</span>.<br /><br />Does this mean it's headed West at some point in the future? Our guess is yes, which really makes our day (as if the iPhone launch wasn't enough). Hopefully an official announcement will be made by Namco Bandai soon. Wait, what's that just around the corner? E3? Fingers crossed.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?p=3068205">PS3Forums</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/eternal-sonata-added-to-uk-ds3-compatibility-list/">Eternal Sonata added to UK DS3 compatibility list</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 22:30:00 EST. We know some of our readers here are from Canada, so we're tossing this Canadian-only promotion out to you. <a href="http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/dept.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;catid=24334&amp;CMP=ILC-Top_Links">Best Buy</a> has a pretty sweet deal on $25 DualShock 3's -- that's a savings of more than 50 percent off. There is one catch though; you can only get the discounted price if you purchase a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gran-turismo-5-prolo.../"><em>Gran Turismo 5 Prologue</em></a>. The total for the game and the controller would come out to about (we really mean <em>aboot)</em> $65, so that's roughly the same as any regular game without a controller. Definitely worth it if you've yet to own either <em>Prologue</em> or rumble for this gen.<br /><br />[Thanks farfisa!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/13/deal-of-the-day-dualshock-3-for-25/">Canadian Deal of the Day: DualShock 3 for $25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jun 2008 16:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=207536742">Buy.com</a> is currently selling DualShock 3 controllers for only $45, shipped -- that's $10 off the regular MSRP. Uneventful weekend? Need something to do? Perhaps you might want to bring out the craftsman within and make a wall-mounted holder for your PS3 controller. It's a good time to start, especially now that you'll need extra space for that brand new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/dualshock-3-coming-next-week-compatability-list-revealed/">DualShock 3</a>. Or, maybe you just want to stylize your living room with some haute couture. Well, whatever fits your fancy. <br /><br />Anyway, a guy name Veneficus shares his easy, do-it-yourself way of making a wall holder for your controller. It involves simple items that can be purchased at any hardware store: a pair of 28-29mm tool clips, some rawlplugs, and screws. You'll want to have pliers and a drill, too. But, before you start any actual work, head on over to <a href="http://returntrue.natural-tys.com/2008/04/05/making-ps3-controller-wall-holder/">Veneficus' site</a> for the full instructions. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://digg.com/mods/Making_PS3_Controller_Wall_Holder">Digg</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/05/learn-to-make-a-wall-holder-for-ps3-controller/">Learn to make a wall holder for PS3 controller</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 Apr 2008 18:30:00 EST. Short version of our DualShock 3 impression: It's like a Sixaxis. Oh yeah, but it has sweet, sweet, rumbles. <br /><br />More poetically speaking, Joni Mitchell's words that "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" were never truer than in describing what happened when we went from the PS2's DualShock 2 to the PS3's rumble-less Sixaxis. When you get your hands on a DualShock 3 for the first time, your general expectations of controller feedback from a PS3 game are fulfilled. After giving the heftier controller (193g vs. Sixaxis' 138g, even though it "feels" heavier) a little charge time with the USB cable, it was time to test some games. <br /><br />PlayStation 2 titles (for those who have backwards compatibility) control and give feedback just like you remember -- minus a pesky cord. <em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em> feels like a totally new experience with every gunshot, punch and explosion letting your hands know something is happening on-screen. We had a little hiccup updating <em>MotorStorm</em>, one of the <a href="http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/Controller/Controller_games.html">few titles that requires a rumble patch</a> (make sure to go to the online option -- it doesn't auto update), but other than that, the DualShock 3 performs like one would expect. For those who don't want the rumble functionality on, there's always the option of turning it off by hitting the PS button ... but, why would you do that? The DualShock 3's suggested price is $55 and should be available as soon as the box from Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/dualshock-3-available-next-week-compatibility-list-released/">arrives at your local store</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/">DualShock 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/#664257"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/dualshock-3-controller-01a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/#664258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/dualshock-3-controller-02a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/#664259"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/dualshock-3-controller-03a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/#664260"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/dualshock-3-controller-04a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dual-shock-3/#664261"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/dualshock-3-controller-05a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/joystiq-impressions-dualshock-3/">Joystiq impressions: DualShock 3 (PS3)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 19:30:00 EST. Well hooray for that. It's about bloody time that Sony finally says that they're discontinuing the SIXAXIS controllers. They'd told Stephen Totilo of MTV exactly that, adding that once the current stock runs out (estimated to be sometime during the Summer) there will be no more. Presumably this means that DualShock 3s will be made standard pack-ins when buying a PS3. Again, it's about bloody time.<br /><br />Meanwhile SCEE are <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=129826">remaining tight lipped</a> regarding any date for a European launch of the new rumbling controllers. We're hoping they'll hit before June, considering how big of a fan Kojima is of using the feature. There is a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/28/rumor-dualshock-3s-available-in-europe-on-may-2nd/">rumor</a> that DualShock 3s will be hitting Europe a month from now, on May 2nd. If we hear anything more then we'll be sure to let you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/sixaxis-being-discontinued-in-america-still-no-sign-of-ds3s-in/">SIXAXIS being discontinued in America, still no sign of DS3s in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 18:45:00 EST. A Sony rep says that you can likely expect them to all be gone by summertime.<br /><br />The practical upshot is that if your hands have become so atrophied from a lack of physical activity that you can no longer support the DualShock's heft, you may want to stock up on featherweight Sixaxises (Sixaxi?). Good night, sweet, almost comically light prince. Let's get ready to rumble! Sony's <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/04/02/feel-the-shock-next-week/">PlayStation Blog</a> announced today that DualShock 3 controllers are currently shipping to North American stores and should be available next week. The controller originally had an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/destination-playstation-dualshock-3-to-debut-april-15th/">April 15 release date attached</a> to it, but can now be sold as soon as retailers receive them.<br /><br />We've placed the full list of DualShock 3 compatible titles after the break; games with an asterisk require a patch (which will automatically download if you're connected online). Sony has also added a page to its <a href="http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/Controller/Controller_games.html">official PlayStation site</a> dedicated to listing titles with rumble. DualShock 3 compatible titles will have an icon on the box and the controller's suggested retail price is $55. For those who truly don't care about rumble, keep an eye out for <a href="http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Wireless-Sixaxis-Controller/dp/B000K1CS5Y/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1207145990&amp;sr=8-1">falling Sixaxis prices</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Edited piece after Sony let us know that the DualShock 3 compatibility page is live and confirmed the controllers can be sold as soon as retailers receive them.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/dualshock-3-available-next-week-compatibility-list-released/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DualShock 3 available next week, compatibility list released</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/dualshock-3-available-next-week-compatibility-list-released/">DualShock 3 available next week, compatibility list released</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 11:00:00 EST. A new post on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/04/02/feel-the-shock-next-week/">PlayStation.blog</a> reveals which US titles are rumble-ready. It's been a long time coming for rumble fans -- let's just all forget how Sony touted rumble as a "last generation" feature.<br /><br />Future titles will feature a DualShock icon (featured, right) if they are compatible with the new peripheral. That's rather unnecessary, in our book. Why? Because we expect every game from this point forth to rumble when played on the PS3. That's the way it was always meant to be.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/dualshock-3-coming-next-week-compatability-list-revealed/">DualShock 3 coming next week, compatability list revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 10:10:00 EST. Dutch site <a href="http://www.psonly.nl/nieuws/14757/Dual_Shock_3_op_2_mei_in_Europa?/">PlayStation Only</a> has heard from a "reliable source" that Dualshock 3 controllers will finally be made available in Europe on the 2nd of May this year. There's no word on pricing and the date hasn't been confirmed by Sony, so this is firmly a rumor for now. With America's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/dualshock-3-dated-april-15th/">April release date</a> fast approaching, Europeans are itchy to find out when they'll finally be able to get their hands on them. Most games (certainly, all high profile and first party titles) all support rumble out of the box, or via a mandatory patch so the earlier the controllers are released, the better.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/28/rumor-dualshock-3s-available-in-europe-on-may-2nd/">Rumor: Dualshock 3s available in Europe on May 2nd</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Mar 2008 16:10:00 EST. The rumble-ready DualShock 3 controller should be ready for US audiences on April 15th, according to a report by Kotaku. This release would coincide with the release of the upcoming <em>Gran Turismo 5 Prologue</em>. Retailers have supposedly just received this date from the Destination PlayStation meeting. The controller will cost a rather hefty $55.<br /><br />We're getting in touch with Sony right now. Let's see if they can confirm this announcement.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/dualshock-3-dated-april-15th/">DualShock 3 dated: April 15th for $55</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2008 13:00:00 EST. Never one to cast judgment upon any potential customers, Sony has announced a <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080205ce.html">new PlayStation 3 color</a> aimed at Japanese kids in service of Satin. Packing a 40GB hard drive and a matching SIXAXIS wireless controller, the "Satin Silver" model is scheduled for release on March 6th at the price of &yen;39,980, or approximately <strike>$666</strike> $376. <br /><br />Those hoping to feel Satin's rumblings in their idle hands can also pick up a similarly colored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DualShock3/">Dual Shock 3</a>, which releases on the same day for &yen;5,500 ($52). If you were foolish enough to pledge your allegiance to that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/22/fcc-approves-ceramic-white-ps3-for-us/">Ceramic White</a> model, consider this your chance to repaint. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/satin-silver-playstation-3/">Satin Silver PlayStation 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/satin-silver-playstation-3/#623690"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/silver-satin-ps3-sce2_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/satin-silver-playstation-3/#623689"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/silver-satin-ps3-sce2_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/satin-silver-playstation-3/#623688"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/silver-satin-ps3-sce2_1-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/satin-silver-playstation-3/#623687"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/silver-satin-ps3-sce2_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/05/ps3-gets-a-silver-satin-dress-in-japan/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/new-japanese-ps3-targets-satin-worshippers/">New Japanese PS3 targets Satin worshippers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Feb 2008 07:00:00 EST. Adding to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/28/rumor-120-160-gb-ps3-with-rumble-in-the-pipe/">earlier claims</a> from an Ars Technica mole, <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/848/848727p1.html">IGN reports</a> various sources have told the website that a recent Gamestop conference call reportedly confirmed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/24/best-buy-closing-out-80gb-ps3/">death of the 80 GB</a> PlayStation 3 model. The sources also allege that in its place Sony will release a 120 GB version packaged with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dualshock3/">ready-to-rumble</a> DualShock 3 controllers.<br /><br />Sony told IGN that any talk about new consoles iterations is rumor and speculation, and therefore no comment. We haven't seen any patents filed for a new PS3 model (each one has a different model number; see <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/22/joystiq-holidaze-explaining-the-ps3-skus/">our fancy SKU chart</a>), but the circumstantial evidence is starting to add up.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/848/848727p1.html">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/rumor-gamestop-conference-call-talks-120-gb-ps3/">Rumor: Gamestop conference call mentions 120 GB PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Jan 2008 18:00:00 EST. And that doesn't just include letting you spin two (count 'em!) two analog sticks while you're catching monkeys with a net. No, friends, you'll also be able to feel the visceral thrill of rumbling as you whack the monkeys with your stun club. ... Or, you know, play other PS2 games that don't involve catching monkeys. The DualShock 3's rumbling abilities with PS2 games, which only a few would have noticed by now, was apparently added by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/ps3-firmware-2-00-tomorrow-full-details-today/">PS3's 2.0 firmware</a>.<br /><br />So the DualShock 3 is the newest gen of a next-gen peripheral now reaching back through time to accommodate a last-gen feature on last-gen games. But the only PS3s that support it will be those that play last-gen games, a feature that itself has become last-gen. We've honestly lost count of the layers of irony. Many importers have been curious: does the new rumble-ready DualShock 3 work for PS2 games played on the PS3? The answer is yes (provided you don't have the 40GB model -- you won't be able to play PS2 games at all!). With rumble being slowly reintroduced to the system, it appears that PS3 will finally be able to do everything the PS2 offered last generation ... and then some.<br /><br />[Video by <a href="http://www.digitalmoratorium.com/">Jamie A</a>.<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/dualshock-3-rumble-works-with-ps2-games/" />]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/dualshock-3-will-rumble-with-ps2-games/">DualShock 3 will rumble with PS2 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 09:40:00 EST. Have you ever seen anything so ... boxed in your entire life? What wouldn't you give to see that hot little piece of rumbling plastic shed its outer layer to reveal the deliciousness within, like some sort of be-dual-sticked piece of electronic corn?<br /><br />... OK, so we can't claim to understand unboxing fetishists entirely, but we can at least try to make up for it by appealing to their basest desires. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/12/sony-dualshock-3-unboxing-ready-to-rumble/">Engadget Tokyo</a> has one of the first retail <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DualShock3/">DualShock 3</a>s and they're taking the clamshell off ... slow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/thill-as-the-dualshock-3-is-unboxed/">Thrill as the DualShock 3 is unboxed!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Nov 2007 10:33:00 EST. Many flocked to various import websites when Sony announced the rumble-ready DualShock 3 at Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. However, it looks like production of Sony's long-awaited peripheral won't meet the mountainous demand for the controller. Quantities will be quite scarce, as seen by Play-Asia's pre-orders already being sold out: "this is a product with limited availability and our allocations have been pre-sold."<br /><br />Importer NCSX also expects demand to increase the cost of importing a controller. They have some advice for those that want a rumble controller: to wait. "If prices ratchet up too high, we'd advise patience since prices should eventually drop to normalcy within 2-3 weeks after the Japanese debut." Of course, if you're bothering to import a controller, chances are you want it as soon as possible.<br /><br />Sony has not yet set a date for a North American release of the controller. It is expected to debut some time in the Spring. The controller will retail for 5500 yen (appx. US$47).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/01/dualshock-3-imports-to-be-scarce/">DualShock 3 imports to be scarce</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Nov 2007 14:00:00 EST. Import retailers are warning non-Japanese consumers that the DualShock 3, Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/sonys-dualshock-3-is-finally-official-ps3-gets-rumble/">contrition controller</a>, will be in extremely limited supply when it goes on sale Nov. 11. Importers like Play Asia say they've already <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=30165">pre-sold</a> their expected supply. Sony obviously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/26/lik-sang-responds-sony-marched-all-over-us/">doesn't like import retailers</a>, but they should take it as a good sign that consumers are keen to import the new DualShock 3 controller before its spring release in the States and Europe early next year. Importers are allegedly charging about $80 USD (&pound;40) for what will probably be $50 (assuming it's the same price as the Sixaxis when it comes across the ocean).<br /><br />But, but, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/ps3s-1-94-firmware-adds-support-for-dualshock3/">why would you want to import</a> the DualShock 3 when the rumble won't work with many old games? Well, <em>Resistance: Fall of Man</em> is <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/10/31/incoming-from-insomniac-resistance-fall-of-man-patch/">patched</a> to accept rumble and we're <strike>expecting</strike> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/released-ps3-titles-may-become-rumble-compatible/">hoping that other games</a> have rumble added onto them soon. We're not going to make any "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/it-is-a-last-gen-feature-dualshock-3-same-tech-as-dualshock-2/">rumble is last generation</a>" cracks because we're just happy Sony is bringing back the rumble. You really don't know what you've got till it's gone.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/01/dualshock-3-supplies-low-import-cost-high/">DualShock 3 supplies low; import cost high</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Nov 2007 12:33:00 EST. <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank Future</em> (available in retail stores <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/future-comes-one-week-early-for-ratchet-and-clank/">soon</a>) is the first retail PS3 game to support rumble out of the box. The game includes firmware update 1.94 on the disc and will allow players with DualShock 3 controllers to experience <strike>the incredible innovation of</strike> rumble.<br /><br />The firmware is, as of writing, not yet available for download. DualShock 3 controllers will be available in Japan in November and in America next year.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/ps3s-1-94-firmware-adds-support-for-dualshock3/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/firmware-1-94-adds-dualshock-rumble-support/">Firmware 1.94 adds DualShock rumble support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2007 15:30:00 EST. If you want to experience rumble with your PS3 games as soon as possible, you're going to have to go on a quest of sorts. First, time travel into next month (or wait a couple of weeks) and import a DualShock 3 from Japan. Next, you're going to need the PS3's new firmware, 1.94, but sadly, it isn't available for download yet. <br /><br />But don't be deterred. Shacknews <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/49583">is reporting</a> that if you pick up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Ratchet%20and%20Clank%20Future%3A%20Tools%20of%20Destruction">Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction</a></em> (the first retail game with built-in rumble support) you'll be able to find 1.94 right there on the disc. Imagine the convenience. Now, unless you have obsessive compulsive disorder, we have no idea why you'd need the firmware weeks before the controller's even out. But at least we know a certain <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Summers">former Double Dare host</a> is going to sleep well tonight.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/ps3s-1-94-firmware-adds-support-for-dualshock3/">PS3's 1.94 firmware adds support for DualShock 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2007 15:05:00 EST.
