It shows in team balance and mode choices, which are generally similar to <em>Team Fortress 2</em> and other team-based shooters, but with some nice original flairs. And it shows most in the core mechanic, a custom weapon-building system that offers a lot of impressive possibilities for creating a gun that's entirely your own.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/">Loadout (PAX Prime 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/#5255244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/loadout001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/#5255245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/loadout002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/#5255246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/loadout003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/#5255247"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/loadout004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/loadout-pax-prime-2012/#5255248"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/loadout005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/05/loadout-lets-you-create-the-weapon-you-want/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Loadout lets you create the weapon you want</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/05/loadout-lets-you-create-the-weapon-you-want/">Loadout lets you create the weapon you want</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Sep 2012 06:33:00 EST. <p><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/starcraft-ghost">Starcraft: Ghost</a></em>. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/phantom">The Phantom</a></em>. And let's face it, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sadness">Sadness</a></em>, too. Video game history is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vaporware">littered with the corpses</a> of titles and projects that choked on their own ambition before making it to the finish line. So much so that we've become accustomed to second guessing games that stay out of the spotlight for any considerable length of time. Of course, devs are reluctant to publicly admit defeat, leaving us to remember from time to time to poke our heads in and see if that game we saw screenshots for a year ago still deserves a place on our radar. <br /><br />Recently we were reminded of <em>The Incredible Hulk</em> developer, Edge of Reality, and its stealth action game for the Xbox 360 and PS3, <em><a href="http://www.edgeofreality.com/games_CipherComplex.html">Cipher Complex</a></em>, which has run noticeably silent since it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/26/cipher-complex-announced-for-ps3-and-xbox-360-edge-of-reality-sel/">first announced in 2006</a>. So we pinged company president Binu Philip, who reassured us that despite the absence of press, <em>Cipher Complex</em> is still on the way. "We are still working away on the title," he told us, adding however that the team is "not currently saying anything publicly about the game." For now, it seems video game history will have to wait for its next victim -- at least until another decides to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dnf">stop chewing bubble gum</a> and just lie down. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cipher-complex/">Cipher Complex</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cipher-complex/#1126777"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/cipher_0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cipher-complex/#1126769"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/cipher_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cipher-complex/#1126768"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/cipher_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/cipher-complex/#1126767"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/cipher_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/cipher-complex-not-quite-vaporware-yet/">Cipher Complex, not quite vaporware yet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Oct 2008 23:00:00 EST. Activision asks: "What could be more fun than using the Wii Remote to swing on a vine over blood thirsty crocodiles as retro-cool Pitfall Harry?!" We wonder: <em>Uh, and how does one swing from a Wiimote exactly?</em> Ready or not, a "new generation of gamers" will plummet to certain doom this fall, when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/activision">Activision</a> releases <em>Pitfall</em> ... <em>The Big Adventure</em> (oh, well, now you've sold us!).<br /><br />Developed by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/edge-of-reality/">Edge of Reality</a>, <em>The Big Adventure</em> features "innovative, accessible game mechanics developed specifically to take advantage of the Wii motion sensing controls," as players waggle over pits, shake up evil "shamen" (shamans?), and twist through puzzles. "It's a completely new experience for the gamer," says Binu Philip. Who? (Edge of Reality's president. Duh.)<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pitfall-the-big-adventure/">Pitfall: The Big Adventure</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pitfall-the-big-adventure/#801106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/pitfall-wii03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pitfall-the-big-adventure/#801105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/pitfall-wii02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pitfall-the-big-adventure/#801104"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/pitfall-wii01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/pitfall-wii-vived-for-the-big-adventure/">Pitfall Wii-vived for 'The Big Adventure'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 13:56:00 EST. Previous screens didn't show much else besides the Hulk himself, but these showcase the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/789989/">Abomination</a>, New York and the graphics engine. Other than the screens, it was revealed that GameStop has some sort of exclusive in their package. The description on <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product%5FID=68667">their website</a> describes it as "Gamestop Exclusive Red Hulk" but who knows what that really means, as that description could apply to almost anything. So if you're going to buy the game from GameStop, be aware, you could be be getting everything from a skin to a sticker to an action figure. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/">Incredible Hulk Screens</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/#789992"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/2468969990_82e4800ba5_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/#789991"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/2468969802_6aa8fb4413_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/#789990"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/2468969752_7f3c673ac4_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/#789989"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/2468969706_e6403eb253_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/incredible-hulk-screens/#789988"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/xbox.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/2468147469_01767840d1_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/05/hulk-screens-gamestop-gets-exclusive/">Hulk screens, Gamestop gets exclusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 May 2008 22:00:00 EST. Well, what more is there to say about these screens of the upcoming <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/IncredibleHulk/">Incredible Hulk</a></em> movie-game other than <em>The Hulk</em> is in them. They don't look especially good and considering the team that brought us Ultimate Destruction is busy doing their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prototype">own thing</a> and back catalog of developer Edge of Reality consists of the <em>Over the Hedge</em> and <em>Shark Tale</em> game adaptations, we're definitely sticking with the comment that these screens have <em>The Hulk</em> in them. 'Nuff said. <br />

It will feature an open-world New York City environment, letting you unleash your destruction upon Manhattan, while of course saving Manhattan from destruction <br /><br />If you ask us, the whole idea going on a rampage and destroying the city as a human-turned-monster reminds us of, well, <em>Rampage</em>.<br /><br />[Via GamesPress press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/the-hulk-bashes-his-way-onto-the-wii/">The Hulk bashes his way onto the Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Mar 2008 20:00:00 EST. <div align="left">It's a Banner year for Sega, with the publisher getting ready to unleash <em>The Incredible Hulk</em> this June alongside the Edward Norton-starring film and franchise reboot. Marvel's green goon will be gleefully smashing things on just about every platform imaginable (sorry, PSP!) in what we hope will be similar gameplay to that found in 2005's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incredible_hulk_ultimate_destruction"><em>The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction</em></a>. <br /></div>
