Users have complained of in-game stuttering, even with lowered graphical settings, and say these issue have persisted since launch.<br /><br />Threads on the <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2075294">Steam</a> and <a href="http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=119684">Eidos</a> forums have languished since being posted in August, with no official response from Eidos despite each still being active with user complaints. We've contacted Square Enix, who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/eidos-stays-independent-following-square-enix-acquisition/">acquired Eidos</a> back in 2009, to find out if there are any plans to address ongoing complaints.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/01/deus-ex-human-revolution-pc-players-complain-of-stuttering-req/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC players complain of stuttering, request patch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Mar 2012 03:45:00 EST. <em>Thief 4</em> remains (appropriately) shrouded in mystery, but Linkedin profiles spotted by <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=457277">NeoGAF</a> users suggest the game will be running on Unreal Engine 3, and will feature an online multiplayer component.<br />
<br />
Several of the profiles state that <em>Thief 4</em> runs on Unreal Engine 3, which isn't too surprising given Square Enix's recent UE3 licensing deal. Among the profiles is an online programmer who is "involved in many aspects, such as networking, gameplay, debugging online and offline tools on <em>Thief 4."</em> The programmer in question specializes in game networking (matchmaking, etc.), so online play may be a consideration.<br />
<br />
We haven't heard an official peep out of <em>Thief 4</em> since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/28/thief-4-development-coming-along-in-leaps-and-bounds/">November of 2009</a>, so who knows what form the game has taken by now?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/17/rumor-thief-4-features-online-play-runs-on-unreal-engine/">Rumor: Thief 4 features online play, runs on Unreal Engine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jan 2012 12:30:00 EST. <em>Skyrim</em> is going to get tons of accolades all over this year, and deservedly so, but <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> pulled me into its world more effectively than any other game in 2011.<br />
<br />
It didn't do everything right. Obviously, there were the boss battles. They required a narrow combat approach, playing to some of <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution's</em> weakest elements. But those encounters were only disappointing insofar as they contradicted the fluidity of gameplay styles and approaches the rest of <em>Human Revolution</em> offered.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/joystiq-top-10-of-2011-deus-ex-human-revolution/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq Top 10 of 2011: Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/joystiq-top-10-of-2011-deus-ex-human-revolution/">Joystiq Top 10 of 2011: Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 20:45:00 EST. Following the strong reception of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a></em>, one report indicated Square Enix planned to expand developer Eidos Montreal by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/report-square-enix-to-expand-eidos-montreal-add-350-employees/">as many as 350 additional employees</a>, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/square-enix-planning-new-canadian-studio-for-2012/">earlier reports suggested</a> that Square would establish a new studio elsewhere in Canada in 2012. Turns out, both were half right. Square Enix announced today plans to add 250 new jobs in Canada, with 100 going to the team at Eidos Montreal, and 150 being dedicated to a new studio named, cleverly enough, Square Enix Montreal.<br />
<br />
The 100 new employees at Eidos Montreal will be "driving work on a third AAA project at the studio" alongside the existing Deus Ex and Thief franchises, while the "first project at Square Enix Montr&eacute;al will be to work on a new premium quality game in the award-winning Hitman franchise," adding a second studio to augment Copenhagen-based IO Interactive's work on the series.<br />
<br />
The new studio will be under the guidance of general manager Lee Singleton, who's "been leading Square Enix London Studios, a UK-based team which focuses on shaping and bringing to market great games from some of the world's most talented independent development teams." Those games include <em>Just Cause 2</em> and <em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em> which you've probably never heard of.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/square-enix-montreal-opening-in-2012-working-on-hitman-eidos-m/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Square Enix Montreal opening in 2012, working on Hitman; Eidos Montreal adds 100, working on 'third AAA project'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/square-enix-montreal-opening-in-2012-working-on-hitman-eidos-m/">Square Enix Montreal opening in 2012, working on Hitman; Eidos Montreal adds 100, working on 'third AAA project'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 11:30:00 EST. Even though the recent release of "The Missing Link" DLC featured <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/26/deus-ex-dlc-fixes-boss-fights-well-at-least-this-one/">a more appropriate boss encounter</a>, the majority of <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em>'s boss fights force players to forgo whichever strategy they employed throughout the game and, you know, just shoot 'em in the face. Unless that <em>is</em> your strategy, in which case all we have to say is: <em>you monster</em>.<br />
<br />
Eidos Montr&eacute;al producer David Anfossi told <a href="http://www.next-gen.biz/news/eidos-montreal-admits-deus-ex-boss-error">Edge</a> that farming out the boss fights to Grip Entertainment was a mistake -- not because Grip failed, but because the implementation and design of boss encounters was poor. "We knew that it would be a weakness for the game, that we had to make a compromise to deliver it [on] two levels. First, the boss fights were forced, which is not the <em>Deus Ex</em> experience. Second, there is no mix [of] solutions to tackle the boss fights, which is not <em>Deus Ex </em>either. We knew that before the release of the game, but there had to be some compromise. It [was] our decision."<br />
<br />
That's not to say Anfossi isn't proud of <em>Deus Ex</em> -- he's quite content with the hacking, stealth, social and combat aspects of the game -- but if he had a chance to do it all again, he'd handle the boss fights differently rather than taking them out entirely. "There are two options: no boss fights, or do boss fights correctly. I'm pretty sure that now we have the knowledge to do it correctly."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/04/eidos-montreal-fesses-up-to-poor-boss-fights-in-deus-ex-human-r/">Eidos Montreal fesses up to poor boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Nov 2011 08:40:00 EST. <em>Deus Ex</em>-cellent DLC "The Missing Link" is available today for PC, Xbox 360 and, once the update occurs later today, PSN. The five- to six-hour campaign finds augmented security agent Adam Jensen on a mother lovin' boat, but not the kind you see in rap videos. Check out our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/14/deus-ex-human-revolution-the-missing-link-review/">review</a> to find out what you'll receive for $15.</div>
<br />
For those who haven't picked up the game of the year contender yet, Amazon and Steam have some significant discounts on the game for a limited time. On PC, Valve's platform has the title at <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/28050">25 percent off for $37.49</a> as part of its "midweek madness" sale, while Amazon's downloadable version is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Deus-Ex-Revolution-Standard-Download/dp/B005HRZ29K/ref=amb_link_357803702_5?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=center-6&amp;pf_rd_r=0G3PEHBAVBPS24TC9F55&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_p=1324910162&amp;pf_rd_i=1000208101">40 percent off and $29.99</a>. Console owners can grab <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> for $36 from Amazon as part of the site's "deal of the week" promotion.<br />

The <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> soundtrack is currently listed on Amazon with a November 15 release date and $12.95 price. Publisher Square Enix informs us that official details on other retailers providing the soundtrack should be available later this week.<br />
<br />
The soundtrack was previously available in the "Augmented Edition" of the game, with a slight <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/deus-ex-augmented-edition-soundtrack-solution-found-for-north/">hiccup on the PS3 version</a>. The <em>Deus Ex </em>conspiracy deepens when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-missing-link/">The Missing Link DLC</a> augments the known story line later this month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/11/deus-ex-human-revolution-soundtrack-available-on-amazon-nov-15/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution soundtrack available on Amazon Nov. 15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Oct 2011 20:15:00 EST. Eidos Montreal is so eager to prove that the <i>"</i>The Missing Link" offers a substantial, challenging addition to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, it'll let someone play a tiny bit of the DLC for you before it drops later this month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/take-a-walk-through-deus-ex-human-revolutions-missing-link-dlc/">Take a walk through Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Missing Link DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Oct 2011 16:50:00 EST. As much as we loved <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, we weren't crazy about being wedged into an irritating shootout whenever a boss reared its cyber-head. While we tried to roleplay as The Rock in <em>The Rundown</em> (you know, vow against guns, relying on our brains and fists), <em>Human Revolution</em> seemed intent on turning us into The Rock in -- well, pretty much every other movie he's in ... and the end of <em>The Rundown</em>, come to think of it.<br />
<br />
Eurogamer reports that all changes in DLC "The Missing Link," which Eidos Montreal developed totally in-house, rather than (as in the case of <em>Human Revolution</em>) farming boss battles out to another studio. Missing Link producer Marc-Andre Dufort said, "You can actually not kill the boss. You can do a non-lethal takedown on him. And you can kill him from afar. You can even kill him without him seeing you. It's more of a bigger challenge than a standard boss fight like we have in many games."<br />
<br />
Fine, Mr. Dufort. But will we be able to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqnjK79fGSw">steal their teeth while they are asleep</a>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/26/deus-ex-dlc-fixes-boss-fights-well-at-least-this-one/">Deus Ex DLC fixes boss fights (well, at least this one)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Sep 2011 11:35:00 EST. <br />
I'm not sure if <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution's</em> first add-on, "The Missing Link", could have stumbled into view more clumsily than it did. A sort of alternate reality game revealed its existence, but clever players figured out more than Square-Enix and Eidos Montreal bargained for, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/02/deus-ex-website-rss-reveals-missing-link-dlc-details/">leaking the premise</a> and "The Missing Link's" primary gameplay conceit without any sort of context. It really hurt the general excitement levels for one of the most well-received games of the year.<br />
<br />
I'm here to give you that context. And I might just be here to give you back some of that <em>general excitement</em> too. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-the-missing-link-dlc/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution (The Missing Link DLC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-the-missing-link-dlc/#4474630"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/dxhrtmltubular_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-the-missing-link-dlc/#4474631"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/dxhrtmltyphoonturret_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-the-missing-link-dlc/#4474632"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/dxhrtmlupsidedown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/23/finding-the-missing-link-in-deus-exs-first-dlc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Finding The Missing Link in Deus Ex's First DLC</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/23/finding-the-missing-link-in-deus-exs-first-dlc/">Finding The Missing Link in Deus Ex's First DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Sep 2011 12:38:00 EST. <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em>'s "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/30/deus-ex-human-revolution-augmented-edition-and-pre-order-pack/">Augmented Edition</a>" for PS3 accidentally had the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/07/deus-ex-augmented-edition-blu-ray-soundtrack-issue-solution-in/">game's soundtrack on a Blu-ray disc</a>, but customers in North American can now obtain an MP3 version from publisher Square Enix.<br />
<br />
Square Enix contacted us this afternoon with instructions on how "Augmented Edition" purchasers can obtain a digital copy of the soundtrack by <a href="http://release.square-enix.com/na/2011/09/16_01.html">contacting customer support</a>. After proving proof of purchase, the user will receive a "time-limited redemption download link" by email. If they enter the wrong code, a stealth operative will back-hack their computer and upload the <em>Jersey Shore</em> soundtrack. (No, not really. <em>God</em>, you're gullible.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/deus-ex-augmented-edition-soundtrack-solution-found-for-north/">Deus Ex 'Augmented Edition' soundtrack solution found for North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Sep 2011 19:50:00 EST. If, while playing the PC version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, your heads-up display inexplicably disappeared, don't worry! Your techno-magical eyeballs haven't fallen out of your cyberhead -- that was a bug in the programming (the game's, not Adam's) which was fixed by a patch that recently launched on <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/6272/">Steam</a>.<br />
<br />
Other fixes in the update include a remedy for a plethora of crashes, frame-stuttering issues and an option to skip the logo screens whenever you start up the game. We wish every video game valued our time in this manner. Check out all the updates after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/deus-ex-pc-patch-now-live-on-steam/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex PC patch now live on Steam</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/deus-ex-pc-patch-now-live-on-steam/">Deus Ex PC patch now live on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Sep 2011 13:20:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> plays host to a wide assortment of advertisements for fictional future-products (like robot eyes and face-installed sunglasses) -- but the game now sports a promo for a real-life, purchasable <em>thing</em>. The game's loading screen occasionally includes a tiny banner announcing the launch of the <em>Star Wars </em>Blu-ray trilogy, as seen in the corner of the image posted above.<br />
<br />
Some of the billboards built into the game's environment are equipped to sport <a href="http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-has-in-game-advertising/">dynamic advertisements</a>, but we haven't noticed anything as unsubtle as this. We suppose it could be worse! The advertisement could just pop up during a climactic boss battle. Or Darth Vader could just make a totally out-of-place cameo in one of Detroit's seedy alleyways. Actually, no, wait. That would be <em>rad</em>.<br />

<a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> has shipped 2 million copies across North America, Europe and PAL territories, Square Enix announced today. Although that's "shipped" and not "sold," the game is certainly no slouch in that department, having topped the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/05/deus-ex-maintains-uk-top-spot-driver-races-into-second/">UK</a> charts since launch and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/08/august-npd-annual-sales-drop-again-deus-ex-augments-the-top-sp/">US</a> sales chart for August.<br />

Next up for <em>Human Revolution</em> is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/08/deus-ex-missing-link-dlc-gets-a-trailer-more-details/">"Missing Link" DLC</a>, available next month. Square Enix is also certainly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/report-square-enix-to-expand-eidos-montreal-add-350-employees/">augmenting</a> its development staff at Eidos Montreal to get more content out and fast-track that inevitable sequel.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/09/deus-ex-human-revolution-ships-2-million-units/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution ships 2 million units</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/09/deus-ex-human-revolution-ships-2-million-units/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution ships 2 million units</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Sep 2011 12:40:00 EST. <br />
Square Enix has shed some more light on Adam Jensen's retroactively mysterious disappearance covered in the upcoming "The Missing Link" downloadable content for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/06/deus-ex-human-revolutions-missing-link-dlc-due-in-october/">previously revealed</a>, the DLC fills in a three-day chunk of <em>Deus Ex</em>, during which Jensen loses the use of his cybernetic augmentations.<br />
<br />
We assumed the DLC would include new characters and story, but today Square officially revealed a much more interesting tidbit: The ability to "rebuild Adam's augmentation set." In other words, players will be able to reapply those wasted Praxis points on more useful augmentations. We're guessing Jensen is still stuck with his most useless augmentation, however, that being his <em>permanent</em> sunglasses.<br />
<br />
"The Missing Link" will arrive next month.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/08/deus-ex-missing-link-dlc-gets-a-trailer-more-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex 'Missing Link' DLC gets a trailer, more details</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/08/deus-ex-missing-link-dlc-gets-a-trailer-more-details/">Deus Ex 'Missing Link' DLC gets a trailer, more details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Sep 2011 12:50:00 EST. Though it's being outpaced by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/02/deus-ex-website-rss-reveals-missing-link-dlc-details/">unglamorous leaks</a>, the <em>Deus Ex</em> DLC drip-feed continues with a few more details on <em>Human Revolution</em>'s upcoming add-on. Square Enix has announced that "The Missing Link" will be available in October, bringing with it new environments, characters and some narrative embellishment.<br />
<br />
As we've already reported, the DLC will address a temporal gap in the storyline that has been made mysterious retroactively by the announcement of this DLC. From now on, become suspicious every time a protagonist takes a nap and the screen blacks out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/06/deus-ex-human-revolutions-missing-link-dlc-due-in-october/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution's 'Missing Link' DLC due in October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Sep 2011 14:20:00 EST. While Square Enix left clues <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/31/deus-ex-human-revolution-conspiracy-hints-at-new-content/">hinting at DLC</a> for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, we doubt the publishers expected its plans to be revealed quite <em>this</em> easily. After following a convoluted breadcrumb trail of images and websites hinting at the truth, eager fans have uncovered the official details ... right in the <em>Deus Ex</em> website's RSS.<br />
<br />
Opening up the DeusEx.com <a href="http://www.deusex.com/?func=rss">RSS</a> XML reveals that the DLC will indeed be titled "Missing Link" and will take place during a three day-period in which protagonist Adam Jensen "vanishes," after which he must escape from a freighter. The clincher: His augmentations have been disabled.<br />
<br />
"Hey," you're undoubtedly thinking, "wouldn't that mean his cybernetic arms would just stop working?" You're right, of course, but we're talking about the same game that allows players to knock a guard unconscious without being noticed by the <em>other</em> guard standing two feet away. Some suspension of disbelief is probably in order.<br />
<br />
Assuming the RSS is correct, the DLC will be officially revealed on September 8. We've included the RSS description after the break. Be warned that it contains some minor spoilers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/02/deus-ex-website-rss-reveals-missing-link-dlc-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex website RSS reveals 'Missing Link' DLC details</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/02/deus-ex-website-rss-reveals-missing-link-dlc-details/">Deus Ex website RSS reveals 'Missing Link' DLC details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Sep 2011 16:00:00 EST. Do you still find it difficult to reconcile the critically adored, Western-developed <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> with the Square Enix logo on the game's packaging? You'll get over it in the coming years, as <a href="http://lapresseaffaires.cyberpresse.ca/economie/technologie/201109/01/01-4430609-jeu-video-350-nouveaux-emplois-chez-eidos.php">La Presse Affaires</a> reports that Eidos Montr&eacute;al aims to double in size and accomodate 350 additional employees by 2015.<br />
<br />
Though Square Enix has yet to officially announce such plans, the report states that a tentative agreement has been made between the Japanese company (which acquired Eidos in 2009) and financier Investissement Qu&eacute;bec. The deal, when solidified, will grant tax credits and a $2 million subsidy to Square.<br />
<br />
Earlier reports suggested that Square would establish <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/square-enix-planning-new-canadian-studio-for-2012/">a new studio</a> once talks with several Canadian provincial governments had concluded. According to La Presse, it has opted to boost its existing Eidos location from 330 to 680 employees over the next four years. Square will reportedly increase staff count by 100 toward the end of 2012.<br />
<br />
This news bodes well for Eidos Montr&eacute;al's two current projects, particularly for <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/thief-4"><em>Th14f</em></a>. One of those 680 employees should be able to come up with a proper logo.<br />
<br />

<br />
If you've yet to meet Letitia in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, then go ahead and watch the above clip. Discussed by Time's Evan Narcisse in <a href="http://techland.time.com/2011/08/31/the-worst-thing-about-deus-ex-human-revolution/">this article</a>, Letitia has come across as a racist character to some (including Evan). According to a statement from Square Enix, that was never the intention.<br />
<br />
"<i>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</i> is a fictional story which reflects the diversity of the world's future population by featuring characters of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds," the statement reads. "While these characters are meant to portray people living in the year 2027, it has never been our intention to represent any particular ethnic group in a negative light."<br />
<br />
Whether or not Letitia was created to paint "any particular ethnic group in a negative light," many feel she does.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/square-enix-responds-to-deus-ex-racial-controversy/">Square Enix responds to Deus Ex racial controversy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Sep 2011 14:15:00 EST. A code on the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> title screen was actually part of a deeper conspiracy that, if followed to its conclusion, led to the image we've posted above. The prevailing theory about what it means, in combination with the day and time stamp in the bottom left of the image, is that Square Enix could announce DLC for its hit game as soon as next week.<br />
<br />
The image was discovered after internet sleuths followed the code to GPS coordinates for Uluru rock in Australia. Combined with a password of "11m13clinic" and some Twitter help from the game's producers, the clues eventually unlocked the image (which is probably a clue in itself). If you've spent a considerable amount of time with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, then you know protagonist Adam Jensen is in need of a new bathroom mirror. His landlord isn't really making much of an effort to replace it, though. This, as you can imagine, upsets Mr. Jensen<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em>just a tad</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/29/adam-jensen-really-wants-his-mirror-replaced/">Adam Jensen really wants his mirror replaced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Aug 2011 16:30:00 EST. <br />
Eidos Montreal commissioned a cyborg to document real-world advancements in biotechnology that could serve as precursors to the gadgets used in<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a></em>, titled <a href="http://eyeborgproject.com/2011/08/eyeborg-activated/">The Eyeborg Documentary</a>. Why "Eyeborg," you ask? Filmmaker Rob Spence has a prosthetic eye -- but this isn't your grandma's prosthesis. Spence's is a <em>wireless camera</em> that transmits footage to a receiver, with no connection to his optic nerve, not to mention it looks pretty cool when he reveals it from under his eye patch.<br />
<br />
Spence documents the height of artificial-limb and augmented-reality advancement, following a man with a computer chip behind his retina, a health-bar-encoded firefighting helmet, two men's bionic arms and three bionic legs, all in a very viewable 12-minute timeframe. We may not have machines guns in our forearms yet, but this stuff is still spectacular.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/27/the-eyeborg-documentary-compares-real-life-augments-with-deus-ex/">The Eyeborg Documentary compares real life augments with Deus Ex biotech</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Aug 2011 20:30:00 EST. GameStop is offering a "$50 GameStop gift card and a Buy 2 Get 1 Free pre-owned purchase" offer to those who bought the standard PC version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a></em> from the mega retailer. After what the company pulled over the past few days, including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/gamestop-intentionally-removing-deus-ex-onlive-coupons-from-reta/">OnLive coupons</a> from PC boxes of <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> and eventually the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/gamestop-pulls-deus-ex-human-revolution-pc-versions-from-shelve/">entire game</a> itself, we hope it's not pulling our leg now, too.<br />
<br />
GameStop associates also just received this email, so please practice a bit of augmented patience, as they catch up with the speed of the internet and await procedures from corporate. Anyone who ordered the PC version of <em>Human Revolution</em> through GameStop simply needs to bring in the email and their store receipt or order confirmation for their consolation prizes.<br />

Fact: nobody wants to sit through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-loading-times-compared/">long loading times</a>. Today's PC patch for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> should cut down the time. According to <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/6146/">the patch notes on Steam</a>, some machines have seen load times decreased by over 50%.<br />
<br />
On top of the load times, a start-up crash affecting certain AMD/ATI hardware configurations has been addressed. Mouse sensitivity has also been tweaked, which should hopefully alleviate that problem you had where you would keep running up to dudes and punching them in the face, over and over again.<br />
<br />
Oh, wait, that's how you're playing the game? Well, carry on then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/deus-ex-human-revolution-pc-update-cuts-down-loading-times/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC update cuts down loading times</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 21:40:00 EST. 	<img alt="Deus Ex boss fights are raising a question among netizens." src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/deusexhumanrevolution.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></div>
It looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/">our own reviewer wasn't alone</a> in thinking the boss fights in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> stood out like a sore thumb from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/metareview-deus-ex-human-revolution/">the rest of the subtler gameplay</a>. Nukezilla has <a href="http://nukezilla.com/2011/08/22/on-putting-things-into-your-game-just-because-you-think-they-have-to-be-there/">compiled clips of commentary</a> about the game from around the web so far, and the opinion is almost universal: The title's boss fights are unnecessary and badly designed.<br />
<br />
We say almost, in this case, because the main voice of dissent belongs to Ars Technica's Ben Kuchera, <a href="http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/08/in-defense-of-the-boss-battles-of-deus-ex-human-revolution.ars">who argues that the game</a> is simply pointing out that sometimes, violence really is necessary. Yes, most of the game lets you move along without combat, but the boss fights, in all of their stupid fury, are meant to show that in a game loaded with choices, sometimes you just don't have one.<br />
<br />
Seeing as the game just came out, y'know, today, most of us haven't been able to form our own opinions just yet. But Nukezilla's compilation at least raises a good question, and that's if the boss fights in <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> really belong there, or if they're there just because boss fights are what video games do.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/deus-ex-commentary-compliation-shows-the-net-split-on-boss-figh/">Deus Ex commentary compilation shows the 'net split on boss fights</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Aug 2011 03:30:00 EST. So maybe a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/deus-ex-human-revolution-coming-to-onlive-free-microconsole-an/">free OnLive MicroConsole</a> wasn't incentive enough to pre-order <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> via the cloud gaming service. You, sentimentalist that you are, ordered the retail PC version. "I like having a box <em>thank you very much</em>," you said, to no one in particular.<br />
<br />
Well, guess what? We're not looking forward to the future, mainly because we'll never be able to afford sweet bionic arms. Lucky for us, we can play video games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>, allowing us to experience the future revolution at a fraction of the price.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/23/this-deus-ex-human-revolution-launch-traiiler-shows-a-changed-m/">This Deus Ex: Human Revolution launch trailer shows a changed man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Aug 2011 16:28:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> is a giant world, an immersive experience, and all that. But what if it's not enough? The only way to immerse yourself even further into the cyberpunk world is to literally surround yourself in Deus Ex -- by wearing the official clothes.<br />
<br />
Square Enix has partnered with Musterbrand LLC, which you might remember from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/05/naked-snake-no-more-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-clothing-line/"><em>Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker</em> clothing line</a>, to create an assortment of <em>Deus Ex</em>-inspired garments, including a trench coat that is way too cool-looking to have any business being a licensed game tie-in.<br />

Looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a> is setting a high bar for the deluge of mega-titles launching between now and the holidays. Our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/">review</a> called the title "an imperfect, complex and ambitious reminder of what a game can be when it's unafraid." That theme plays out in several other reviews, with the imperfections being far outweighed by the game's considerable execution and ambition.<br />

	<li>
		<a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-22-deus-ex-human-revolution-review">Eurogamer</a> <strong>(90/100):</strong> "<em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> is probably not as perfect as I'm making it sound. Some of the rules about what's interactive and not seem quite arbitrary, which is a pretty blatant failing in a game which tries so hard to make you feel like you're not being restricted, and while the level design is clever and varied, the interior design definitely is not, and there's also a lot of repetition in the incidental details."</li>
	<li>
		<a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1189592p1.html">IGN</a> <strong>(90/100):</strong> "It's a visionary, considered piece of work, and while my thoughts drift to the things that could have been and the compromises made due to the possibilities of video games in 2011, they're just as quick to consider playing through it again. <em>Human Revolution</em> is a smart, rewarding piece of transhumanist noir that does justice not just to <em>Deus Ex</em>, but to the fiction that inspired it. "</li>

		<a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gamereview.php?id=5780">GameTrailers</a> <strong>(87/100):</strong> "<em>Deus Ex</em> offers a good deal of mischief to get into, and it's all backed up by a great stealth system and a solid shooting game. With its variable story, as well as how it encourages you to alter your approach to obstacles, it's also a game that rewards multiple playthroughs. The future is bleak and at times ugly, but we wouldn't have it any other way."</li>

		<a href="http://www.1up.com/reviews/review-deus-human-revolution-best-stealth-action-mgs">1UP</a> <strong>(A):</strong> "<span class="articleText">I don't normally replay games, but there are exceptions: I've probably played through <em>Metal Gear Solid 3</em> a dozen times and <em>Deus Ex</em> about four. I have a feeling that <em>DEHR</em> is going to be one of those games. I'm loving the sheer amount of choice I have because it's up to me to discover it. </span>"</li>

You are a persistently bemused buffoon. Most games won't convey that opinion so indelicately, instead hiding it between the lines of text that ceaselessly tell you where to go, what to do and exactly how to do it. <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> isn't exempt from the clumsy tutorial crowd, but once it gets through the jarring video pop-ups, it quickly stops treating you like an imbecilic waypoint-marker addict. This game thinks you're an adult and expects you to handle your shit.<br />
<br />
While the <em>Mass Effect</em> series sheds its stats and inventories in favor of forging an intelligent, emotionally driven shooter, <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> examines and embraces the structure of Ion Storm's 11-year-old classic, <em>Deus Ex: Didn't Have a Subtitle</em>. Environments don't exist to funnel you through perfectly scripted events -- they're complicated, multi-tiered stacks of obvious and hidden pathways. And Adam Jensen, a stoic security manager who returns from dramatic near-death as a grumpy cyborg, can warp himself biologically to accommodate those routes. There is perhaps no greater proof that this is a role-playing game, however, than the ability to conclude just about every conversation by punching your quest giver into an unconscious rag doll.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution (8/22/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/#4384835"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/dxhrscreenshotadameliza_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/#4384836"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/dxhrscreenshotadamathisdesk_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/#4384837"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/dxhrscreenshotadamlistening_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/#4384838"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/dxhrscreenshotadamstealthyapproach_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-8-22-11/#4384839"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/dxhrscreenshotfedorova_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex Human Revolution review: Life as spectre, post-Spector</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/">Deus Ex Human Revolution review: Life as spectre, post-Spector</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 12:00:00 EST. Who wouldn't want badass robot arms? We're pretty sure that's the gist of this TV spot for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>. Let us answer that question for you: boring people who don't want to bench-press cement trucks, that's who. Does that even sound like <span style="font-style: italic;">an option</span> to you?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/15/deus-ex-human-revolution-tv-spot-is-fully-augmented/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution TV spot is fully augmented</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Aug 2011 19:30:00 EST. Eidos Montreal devs reveal how they put the punk in the steam with a new diary explaining the intricacies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>'s audio. <em>Human Revolution</em> balances the cyber symphonies of <em>Deus Ex</em> with a more mechanical Renaissance vibe -- think Vivaldi meets <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Savery">Thomas Savery</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/13/deus-ex-human-revolution-dev-diary-describes-the-sound-of-cyber/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution dev diary describes the sound of cyberspace</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/13/deus-ex-human-revolution-dev-diary-describes-the-sound-of-cyber/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution dev diary describes the sound of cyberspace</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 13 Aug 2011 00:00:00 EST. Presented to the developers of <em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em> at Comic-Con, this trailer features all of the hopes, dreams and trench coats of the iconic comedy troupe, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a>. It's also a great video if you're wondering what the quickest way to get kicked out of a Best Buy is.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/mega64-thinks-deus-ex-human-revolution-doesnt-have-enough-tren/">Mega64 thinks Deus Ex: Human Revolution doesn't have enough trench coats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 23:59:00 EST. Just in time for Comic-Con, Square Enix has released a live-action trailer for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution">Deus Ex: Human Revolution</a></em> that warns of perilous body modification. You probably thought those Swiss Army Knife-arms were pretty cool, didn't you? Despite the brutal, anti-nerd reality that is <a href="http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Austin+TX+78701">Texas weather</a>, Austin has become a major hub for development houses that produce MMOs and casual/social online titles. BioWare, NCSoft, Blizzard, SOE, heck, even Zynga; they've all got offices in Austin and collectively they're responsible for a sizable growth spurt in the city's already impressive technology sector. It makes sense, then, that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GDC-Online">GDC 2011's "Online" chapter</a> should return to the Lone-Star State's capital city.<br />
<br />
GDC has, historically, been a conference "for developers, by developers," meaning that it's probably not the sort of show Jimmy Halo and Ricky Killzone want to spend their tuition money on. However! If you're in the industry, or just really, <em>really</em> into game design, you just might find something worthwhile at one of GDCO's recently announced summits.<br />
<br />
The Game Narrative Summit, for instance, returns for its 6th year of lectures and dissertations with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Eidos-Montreal">Eidos Montreal</a>'s Mary De Marle giving a talk on "Building the Story-driven Experience of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution</em></a>," and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Volition">Volition</a>'s Steve Jaros hosting a roundtable discussion of development mistakes and war-stories in "Sins of the Past." <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PopCap">PopCap</a>'s Giordano Bruno Contestabile will be contributing his knowledge of pocket-sized, casual gaming to the Smartphone and Tablet Games Summit, and while the GDC Virtual Items Summit has been announced, no specific session details have been listed as of yet.<br />
<br />
If extremely-inside-baseball discussions really are your bag, baby, then summit lectures will be open to GDCO attendees with "All Access" and "Summits &amp; Tutorials" badges during the first two days of the conference's October 10-13 run at the Austin Convention Center.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/03/first-gdc-online-2011-summits-announced/">First GDC Online 2011 summits announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 03 Jul 2011 23:45:00 EST.
