After months of domination by one of the Final Fantasy games, the PlayStation Network has finally managed to snag a new victor on its Top 10 chart. However, it probably isn't what you're expecting. Ludia's digital recreation of Family Feud snags the top spot, away from new games like DeathSpank. We're glad that indie favorite Joe Danger still stands strong on the list, but we're still bewildered by the large number of Mortal Kombat II downloads. Seriously people, stop it.
We asked 100 people to name a new game worth purchasing on PSN this week. Top three answers are on the board. SURVEY SAYS!

*ding*

Monkey Island Special Edition 2: Lechuck's Revenge received 80 votes. Family Feud received 17... and three people answered "Liquid Soap" -- your guess is as good as ours.
Update: Comments have been closed and winners will be contacted shortly. If you're not checking those inboxes yet, now would be a good time to start doing so!

We know we've been pushing nothing but family entertainment on you with our Swag Saturday posts for a few weeks now, and, well, this week isn't much different. We've got a prize pack full of two "2010 Edition" Nintendo Wii games that are sure to get the family together and, quite possibly, at each others throats (in a wholesome kinda way): Family Feud and The Price is Right! Hey, one of those even has the word "family" in the title!

To get your hands on the prize pack, all you have to do is leave a comment telling us what your favorite game show of all time is. We'll pick a winner at random from the entries sometime this week, so be sure to check those inboxes!

Leave a comment telling us what your favorite game show of all time is.

You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec -- partially because of Céline Dion, mostly because of Alanis Morissette)

Limit 1 entry per person per day

This entry period ends at 10:31PM ET on Monday, November 30

At that time, we'll randomly select one winner to receive one copy of The Price is Right for Nintendo Wii ($40 ARV) and one copy of Family Feud for Nintendo Wii ($40 ARV).

A moment like that begs for a video game adaptation, but we doubt that's what we'll be getting when Ubisoft brings the beloved game show, along with Press Your Luck and The Price Is Right to Wii, DS and PC this fall.

But wait, Joystiq, there's already a Price Is Right on Wii! No friends, this is The Price Is Right 2010. In fact, all the games have a year attached at the end. Because if there's ever been IPs that beg for annualized versions, it's game shows that haven't changed in five decades.
No Whiimies! Over 300 industry professionals have cast their votes to predict the most profitable game companies of 2009 in the "first ever" GI.biz Network Survey. Their answers weren't nearly as exciting, however, with Nintendo garnering a predictable 54.4 percent of the vote to be selected as top platform manufacturer. Nintendo systems do print money, after all.

Similarly, the selection of Activision Blizzard (with 30.6 percent of the vote) to be the publisher most likely to dive into a pool of gold coins comes as little surprise. Activison Blizzard owns gaming's Automatic Money Generator(C), World of Warcraft, along with perennial mega-franchises like Call of Duty and Guitar Hero.

For a more detailed breakdown of the poll results, head past the break.
Continue reading Nintendo and Activision to be most profitable in 2009, survey says

Nintendo and Activision to be most profitable in 2009, survey says originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 18 Feb 2009 18:45:00 EST. Really, PAX Family Feud (or should we say Family Freud?) could best be described with three adjectives: entertaining; intense; and overly sexual. As attendees clapped to the Feud's theme song music, both teams (sans Joystiq readers, for shame!) answered questions ranging from, "Name a power-up used by Mario," (yay for fire flower!) to "What's your favorite Penny Arcade character?" Fruit "lover" got our vote.

Everything was quite tame, albeit a bit verbally violent as the show's host received constant heckling from the audience due to his sometimes ... questionable hosting abilities. But then things turned towards sex, sex, sex when Feud players were asked, "What do you do when the electricity goes out at home?" We thought it to be an innocent enough question, but then we remembered that PAX attendees answered the questions. As a result, things got interesting.
Continue reading PAX 2008: Family Feud not so family friendly

PAX 2008: Family Feud not so family friendly originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 01 Sep 2008 18:30:00 EST.
