It looks like the much anticipated cake binging/capture the flag sim Fat Princess, which was promised to hit the PSN sometime in June, will not make its initial release window. Playstation.Blog Europe's Mike Kebby confirmed that while the game would have a global release date, said date won't be next week, and that we can expect the highly frosted gore fest to drop "at some point this summer." Hopefully the warm summer months won't whittle our precious Fat Princess down to just a Princess. That's not nearly as catchy a title.

It's been a long time coming, but the European PlayStation.Blog has confirmed that Sony's online cake-fest, Fat Princess, will receive a June release. Just in case you didn't notice, that's this month. While the release timetable is only confirmed for Europe, it's likely the PSN capture-the-princess game will find a global release.

In addition to Fat Princess, SCEE confirmed June releases for Trash Panic, Numblast and a Ghostbusters demo. PSP owners will be able to expect Ape Academy 2, Everybody's Golf 2, Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow and WipEout Pulse in the European PS Store.

The PSN-exclusive multiplayer fragfest, Fat Princess, is getting closer to release. The PlayStation.Blog has updated with a dev diary for the game which talks about the various inspirations for the game. One interesting tidbit to note: Fat Princess was actually a work-in-progress title, but the producers couldn't think of any better way of labeling the game. Good thing they kept it, because Fat Princess is becoming a real icon amongst the PlayStation hardcore.

We realize that New Zealand is like, a bajillion miles away, but we thought we'd bring your attention to a Kiwi-bound PlayStation release schedule, which finally provides a firm release date for Titan Studios' upcoming PSN title, Fat Princess. According to the list, PS3 owners can begin strengthening soul-crushingly negative obesity stereotypes when the game drops June 18. We still don't know whether the States will see a simultaneous release, but it certainly fits nicely within our previously promised summer launch window.

Qore Episode 11 will be available tomorrow on the PlayStation Store. And guess what? It'll be FREE for everyone. The upcoming issue will feature a behind-the-scenes look at inFamous, Fat Princess and Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Additional details regarding Fat Princess' single-player modes have been revealed at GDC. "Gladiator" mode pits you against wave after wave of enemies using a fully-leveled character. "The Legend Of The Fat Princess" is a more traditional single-player offering, featuring a story that explains how cake came to the realm. This mode is more like the multiplayer gameplay you've seen before, but against AI bots.

The developers are aiming for a Summer release, with some final tweaks currently in the works. It's a bit later than the expected February release, but it should be worth the wait.

We've loved the look of Fat Princess since we first saw it at E3. These videos from the CES show floor remind us why. The Castle Crashers meets Wind Waker art style, coupled with the simple (yet deep) team-based gameplay have us itching to try it out for ourselves. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see the game's release on the PSN. We expect this game to be a big PSN hit this year. Check out the videos after the break to find out why for yourselves.

Try to follow along: In 2006, Epic Games – the North Carolina-based devs behind Gears of War – opened up its very own Shanghai-based studio to outsource its own Unreal Engine-related work to, as well as cater to external third-party licensees like Ubisoft Shanghai. Cost per man month in North America? $9000. Cost per man month in China? $4000, according to a Gamasutra report. So now we all know what Epic Games China is.

Which is why this morning's announcement that Epic Games China has formed Titan Studios – a "wholly owned subsidiary based in Seattle" developing Sony's colorful (albeit controversial) PSN title, Fat Princess – slightly puzzling. First, we've only known Fat Princess since Sony showed it off at E3 and, even then, the developers were known as "Titan Studios" and not their pre-Epic precursor "Darkstar Industries".

Second, why does the "content production outsourcing and game development services" component of Epic Games want to form its own development studio? (Or, in other words, why didn't Epic Games proper "form" Titan Studios in much the same way it acquired People Can Fly?) Epic's Jay Wilbur explains, "Not only are Titan developing award-winning, original IP of their own, they also have resources available to help other studios increase productivity and minimize risk." Their best business advice in these rocky economic times: Be owned by Epic Games.

Many of you have been asking us "where is Fat Princess, oh darn it?" Well, looks like it's 2009. First unveiled at E3 this year, the downloadable title earned a lot of buzz (both positive and negative) for its cute, gory, cake-filled concept.

A press release from Epic Games China has officially "announced" the "opening" of Titan Studios, the developer of the upcoming game. There are a few things we're confused by. First, why is Epic Games China opening a studio in Seattle? Last we checked, Seattle wasn't a part of China (unless, that is, the takeover has begun ...). Also, why is the studio being announced now? Maybe that's why Fat Princess is taking so long to develop! The studio wasn't actually official yet!

Titan Studios brings to it developers with experience at companies including Ubisoft, Epic Games, Scion Studios, Blizzard Entertainment and Lionhead Studios. Titan Studios is not only working on Fat Princess, but a number of other Unreal Engine 3 games, including a massively multiplayer online game.
