In collaboration with fansite <a href="http://dswii.es/">DSWii.es</a>, Rising Star is helping a group of 50 fans produce their own translation of the game's 35,000-word script. The translated text will be made available from DSWii and Rising Star's site following the European release of the game on March 19.<br />
<br />
This is a clever approach to localization for a couple of reasons. First, fifty motivated kids will be able to get the job done in a fraction of the time a professional localization team would take. Additionally, it'll be much easier for Rising Star to laugh off the inevitable errors than it would with a 'real' localization.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/08/rising-star-crowdsources-spanish-localization-of-fragile-dreams/">Rising Star crowdsources Spanish localization of Fragile Dreams</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Mar 2010 14:00:00 EST. While, mechanically, it's a fairly standard action-adventure game - something like one of the PS2 <em>Silent Hills</em> with experience points - everything about the game contributes to a distinctive <em>mood</em>. <em>Fragile Dreams</em> is an exploration of <em>quiet</em> -- something few games ever have any room for.<br />

<small>click for moon-size</small></center>Today, XSEED announced a slight title change for the North American release of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fragile"><em>Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon</em></a>. The company has chosen to go the same route as Rising Star Games and add the word <em>Dreams</em> to the title. Along with the announcement, the company sent out the new logo. It's based on the <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%8A%E3%83%A0%E3%82%B3-193681011-FRAGILE-%E3%83%95%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B8%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB-~%E3%81%95%E3%82%88%E3%81%AA%E3%82%89%E6%9C%88%E3%81%AE%E5%BB%83%E5%A2%9F~/dp/B001Q3LKZ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1257454639&amp;sr=1-1">Japanese logo</a>, but -- to be <em>extremely</em> nitpicky -- loses something with the extra line and the subtitle font. <br />
<br />
However, the <em>game</em>, as seen in new screenshots below, still looks lovely. And that's the part that matters, regardless of our petty complaints. The new title <em>does</em> have the bonus of making us think of Johnny Hates Jazz's "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX-8MHKuQ5I">Shattered Dreams</a>." Totally great song.<br />

That's around the same time XSEED plans to bring the Namco Bandai title to North America. <br />

Also in March, the publisher will release <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/rune-factory-frontier"><em>Rune Factory Frontier</em></a> on Wii, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/avalon-code"><em>Avalon Code</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/my-world-my-way"><em>My World My Way</em></a> on DS. Before that, in February, Rising Star will release <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/half-minute-hero"><em>Half-Minute Hero</em></a> on PSP, and, through "affiliate label" Gamebridge, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/way-of-the-samurai-3">Way of the Samurai 3</a>. </em>We've got Rising Star's full lineup listed after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/29/rising-stars-q1-lineup-for-europe-includes-fragile-way-of-the/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rising Star's Q1 lineup for Europe includes Fragile, Way of the Samurai 3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/29/rising-stars-q1-lineup-for-europe-includes-fragile-way-of-the/">Rising Star's Q1 lineup for Europe includes Fragile, Way of the Samurai 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Oct 2009 17:00:00 EST. The tri-Crescendo-developed Namco Bandai RPG, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fragile"><em>Fragile</em></a>, will eventually make its way to Europe, <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6212624.html">GameSpot</a> reports. Sometime in early 2010, Europeans will be able to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/impressions-fragile-farewell-ruins-of-the-moon-wii/">get their own taste</a> of this post-apocalyptic title following Seto, who is believed to be the last living human being. It's kind of like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7CC0kbGj6s"><em>I Am Legend</em></a>, but, like, <em>bearable</em>. <br /><br />Made by the same team behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eternal-sonata"><em>Eternal Sonata</em></a>, <em>Fragile </em>is currently set to release in North America during the holidays courtesy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/xseed-localizing-namco-bandais-wii-adventure-fragile/">XSEED</a>, and will arrive in Europe via Rising Star Games.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/26/fragile-arrives-on-european-shores-early-2010/">Fragile arrives on European shores early 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 17:15:00 EST. Our apologies to Mr. Berry.]<br /><br />Last September, XSEED Games <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/09/19/marvelous-oboro-muramasa-youtouden-announced-for-us/">announced its intent</a> to publish Vanillaware's Wii side-scroller <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/hands-on-muramasa-the-demon-blade/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Muramasa: The Demon Blade</span></a> in North America, to the delight of hardcore action gamers and people who like to see pretty things. Then, in April, it <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/xseed-no-longer-publishing-murasama/">announced</a> that it <span style="font-style: italic;">wouldn't</span> be publishing the title, a duty that then fell to <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/muramasa-rights-picked-up-by-ignition-due-in-september/">Ignition Entertainment</a>.<br /><br />At the time, we wondered why XSEED would decide not to publish such an eye-catching game. The short answer: it <span style="font-style: italic;">wouldn't</span> decide to do that. XSEED's Jun Iwasaki and Ken Berry gave us details on the <span style="font-style: italic;">Muramasa </span>situation, as well as the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/xseed-localizing-namco-bandais-wii-adventure-fragile/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile</span> announcement</a>, and the timing of <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/flower-sun-and-rain-in-north-america-in-2009/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Flower, Sun, and Rain</span></a>. And, of course, they gamely accepted our pleas for <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/retro-game-challenge-2-localization-unlikely/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Retro Game Challenge 2</span></a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/06/interview-xseed-on-what-happened-with-muramasa-and-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Interview: XSEED on what happened with Muramasa and more [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/06/interview-xseed-on-what-happened-with-muramasa-and-more/">Interview: XSEED on what happened with Muramasa and more [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Jun 2009 22:30:00 EST. The last Banamco title to be localized by the publisher was <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/retro-game-challenge"><em>Retro Game Challenge</em></a>. Today, XSEED announced to <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/987/987312p1.html">IGN</a> that it will publish <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fragile">Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon</a> </em>in North America, with a projected Holiday 2009 release date. Wii fans have been clamoring for this game for a <em>long</em> time.<br /><br />The tri-Crescendo-developed adventure game takes place in a ruined version of the modern world, as one young boy named Seto looks for <em>any other</em> surviving humans, armed only with a flashlight. XSEED plans to include a full English voice track, and has received "very promising" feedback from the development team about a dual language option.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/xseed-localizing-namco-bandais-wii-adventure-fragile/">XSEED localizing Namco Bandai's Wii adventure 'Fragile'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 12:45:00 EST. That doesn't mean, however, that we won't criticize it occasionally, and so we're going to point out that the latest screenshots, though intriguing, are a little uneven.<br /><br />We've seen this room before, and it looks tremendous; bright and colorful while still keeping the abandoned atmosphere of the game. But a few of these shots look a little messy; there are ragged, ugly edges on the protagonist. It's probably just the old curse of Wii stills, but next to the rest of the shots from the game, which are mostly fantastic, they stick out.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/fragile-screens-great-setting-uneven-quality/">Fragile screens: great setting, uneven quality</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 09:53:00 EST. <p align="left">Three senior members of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/fragile-videos-are-awesomely-heartbreaking/">Fragile</a></em> development team have chaired a panel in Japan to answer questions about the RPG. </p>
<p align="left">Between them, producer Kentarou Kawashima, art director Keiko Harada, and head programmer Munehito Yasui revealed that <em>Fragile</em> would take a meaty 30 hours to beat, that developing the game has taken two years, and that the entire process (including advertising) will cost "quite a bit of money" (NeoGAF's translation). Apparently, they also toyed with the idea of basing the game on exploration, with no combat at all -- a daring design choice that didn't come to fruition.</p>
<p align="left">The news that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=namco+bandai&amp;invocationType=wl-wii">Namco Bandai</a> is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this gives us real, tangible hope for a western localization. We struggle to believe any sane publisher would throw oodles of cash at a project and limit its reach by making it Japan-only. You are <em>sane</em>, right, Namco Bandai?</p>

The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/19/shine-a-light-on-fragiles-secrets/"><em>Fragile</em></a> theme song is amazing. It's definitely the Japanese video game theme song most likely to get tears out of us. The game looks beautifully melancholy as well, and that mood is in full effect in this haunting trailer. As the January 22 release approaches, and we still have yet to hear a word about localization, we're beginning to feel a bit down for a reason unrelated to the mood of the game. Between this and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/01/fatal-frame-iv-may-disturb-europe-in-february/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fatal Frame IV</span></a>, we're beginning to wonder what American publishers have against games about walking quietly through creepy old buildings.<br /><br />If that gorgeous video isn't enough <span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile </span>for you, hit the break for five quick gameplay clips found on <a href="http://gamekyo.com/videoen13881_fragile-new-video.html">Gamekyo</a>. The flashlight is part of what gives tri-Crescendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/15/latest-fragile-trailer-shows-off-contrasts/"><em>Fragile</em></a> its <em>look.</em> The ruined environments look more otherworldly viewed through a spooky light. It makes sense, then, for tri-Crescendo to add some gameplay integration to the whole flashlight <em>thing</em>, to emphasize it some more. <br /><br />In addition to the normal flashlight, Seto finds (at least) two more portable lights as he explores: a higher-power flashlight that can illuminate farther into the distance, and reveal hidden enemies more quickly, and an eerie green light identified only as the "strange light," which can reveal hidden messages written on walls.<br /><br />We'd be a lot more excited about this game if we didn't have to trust Bandai Namco's RPG-hatin' US division to provide us with it. But, then, maybe we don't, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/get-zapped-into-the-80s-with-retro-game-challenge/">XSEED</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/ds-fanboy-review-dragon-ball-origins/">Atari</a> publishing recent and upcoming Namco games stateside -- the latter due to an anime licensing issue, but <em>whatever</em>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/19/shine-a-light-on-fragiles-secrets/">Shine a light on Fragile's secrets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Dec 2008 18:08:00 EST. In this haunting new trailer for tri-Crescendo's <em>Fragile</em>, it's hard to decide if the haunting opening sequence or the actual in-game visuals are more compelling. As a marketing tool, this one definitely works. Of course, we were already sold on the devastated world depicted in <em>Fragile</em>, with its life-restoring <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/the-healing-power-of-fragiles-bonfires/">fire</a> and amazing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs08-new-fragile-trailer-reduces-stress/">music</a>. We're somewhat forlorn at the sight of the game, however, due to that pesky <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/fragile-gets-japanese-release-date-but-still-no-localization/">lack of localization</a> (yet). For all that we stare lovingly upon the latest footage, we are jealous of the bounty Japan is set to receive. We are left picking at the bones of media, and hoping, and dreaming. <br /><br />

<br />Namco Bandai's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/the-healing-power-of-fragiles-bonfires/"><em>Fragile</em></a> isn't short on interesting characters. The latest is Shin, a brilliant (but socially weak) scientist and the latest addition to the game's ragtag cast. He'll be voiced by Toshio Furukawa (all of the game's dialog will be spoken), former voice star of <em>Dragon Ball Z</em>, <em>Gundam</em>, <em>Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops</em>, and <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WlIWqAAATCQ">Jann Lee</a> of <em>Dead or Alive</em> fame.<br /><br />Though <em>Fragile</em> still can't match the oddball quotient of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/no-more-heroes/613036/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a>, it's encouraging to see Namco Bandai isn't falling back on stock RPG characters. We were going to mention how Shin might be the oddest-looking <em>Fragile</em> cast member yet, but then we remembered <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/fragile-is-the-weirdest-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/">this guy</a>. tri-Crescendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/fragile-gets-japanese-release-date-but-still-no-localization/"><em>Fragile</em></a> is a game about searching a ruined world for survivors. The decayed, destroyed suburbia gives <em>Fragile</em> a melancholy look, and the newly-revealed bonfire system only strengthens that impression.<br /><br />Bonfires appear in various locations around the game. They are the only way to identify the type and use of wrapped "mystery" items, but more importantly bonfires unlock the memories each object holds of its owner, helping provide clues to the reason for the world's destruction.<br /><br />Evidently, bonfires also act as storage for items (represented by cards) in your bag. Only during bonfires can you swap items in and out of your bag. In addition to this, they restore your character's HP.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/the-healing-power-of-fragiles-bonfires/">The healing power of Fragile's bonfires</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 12:35:00 EST. <br />As a game that we would struggle to understand (even with copious amounts of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/my-japanese-coach-konnichiwa-and-beyond/">this</a>), and also as something that looks <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/fragile-looking-stronger-all-the-time/"><em>fantastic</em></a>, <em>Fragile </em>is near the top of our list of <em>DO WANT</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/imports/">imports</a>. Just to rub it in some more, Namco Bandai has announced a launch date of January 22nd, 2009 ... for Japan. Wouldn't it be nice if the game arrived on western shores in time for the traditionally drier months of the gaming calendar, leaving us with ample time to poke around its beautiful <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fragile/953622/full/">ruins</a>?<br /><br />While we contemplate the horrors of a life without <em>Fragile</em>, check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fragile">our gallery</a> for fifteen new stills from the Kamikaze Douga-directed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs08-new-fragile-trailer-reduces-stress/">Tokyo Game Show trailer</a>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/fragile-gets-japanese-release-date-but-still-no-localization/">Fragile gets Japanese release date, but still no localization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 15:32:00 EST. <br />Because seriously, how <em>mellow</em> is that tune? Lovely. Yours truly almost drifted off at his keyboard watching this. It's also nice to be reminded that we don't reside in a post-apocalyptic wasteland! This is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs08">Tokyo Game Show</a> trailer for Namco Bandai's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/fragile-looking-stronger-all-the-time/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile</span></a>, featuring plenty more of hero Seto and his female colleague Ren (who could both do with a comb through their hair), the floating spirit of a young girl, and a <em>lot</em> of cut-scenery. All in all, it's as enchanting and as beautiful as ever, if a little light on gameplay.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs08-new-fragile-trailer-reduces-stress/">TGS08: New Fragile trailer reduces stress</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 20:30:00 EST. <em>Fragile</em>'s an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/fragile-is-the-weirdest-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/">interesting</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/31/fragile-is-the-best-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/">creature</a>. An RPG, no doubt, but with the sort of theme that makes most other RPGs sound like cheap fantasy novels: ruin exploration. Neat! But it gets better, because we're obviously not talking about ancient Roman ruins or anything from these screenshots. Instead, it's the detritus of <em>us</em>, the ruins of <em>our</em> lives, as explored in a post-apocalyptic future. <br /><br />And, we must say, our future trash is awfully pretty. See for yourself in the updated screenshots in our gallery.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/fragile-looking-stronger-all-the-time/">Fragile looking stronger all the time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Oct 2008 10:00:00 EST. <br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fragile">Fragile</a> </span>continues to look like the most atmospheric Wii title since Samus did <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/27/rumor-metroid-prime-trilogy/">her thing</a>. This short trailer doesn't contain much in the gameplay department, but what is there has a really <em>eerie</em> ambience to it. The haunting tune that plays as the beam from Seto's flashlight crawls across these desolate environments is <em>perfect</em>.<br /><br />The official <a href="http://blog.dengeki.com/fragile/2008/09/03_214522.php"><em>Fragile</em> blog</a> still has this listed for a 2008 release in Japan, and producer Kentaro Kawashima has promised us there will soon be news of a release date. Then it's time to start crossing <em>everything </em>for a western localization!<br /><br />
<br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=3266">Nintendo Everything</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/fragile-trailer-is-more-than-solid/">Fragile trailer is more than solid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Sep 2008 15:29:00 EST. Tri-Crescendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/31/fragile-is-the-best-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/"><em>Fragile</em></a> continues to impress visually, with amazingly moody environments and detailed character models. But, in addition to being <em>impressed</em>, we're also now ... confused? Intrigued? Amused? At least the new RPG succeeds in inspiring emotions.<br /><br />What you see in the above image is <em>Fragile's </em>item shop. The item shop appears to be a person in a giant chicken head mask with one eye missing and a fancy suit with panda kneepads, rolling around a stroller full of junk. We understand that in a ruined world, the shop isn't going to be a fancy place with shiny new swords on display on the wall, and think the tattered, roving merchant is a good fit for that theme. But why the chicken head? Does he/she wear it for <em>warmth?</em><br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/fragile-is-the-weirdest-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/">Fragile is the weirdest-looking Wii game you'll see today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Aug 2008 12:51:00 EST. <br />Even though there are only four new screens of Namco Bandai's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/27/fragile-is-back-and-sturdier-than-ever/"><em>Fragile ~ Farewell Moon Ruins</em></a>, their beauty warrants an update. Besides, we can't have been the only ones who thought of Yorda, of <em>Ico</em> fame, when we first clapped eyes on the slight, barefooted girl above (also seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fragile/953625/">here</a>). We currently know nothing about this waifish character, though some <em>Ico</em>-style hand-in-hand gameplay wouldn't go amiss; <em>Fragile</em>'s post-apocalyptic wasteland certainly seems like the ideal location for a bit of cooperation!<br /><br />
<br />[Via Go Nintendo]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/31/fragile-is-the-best-looking-wii-game-youll-see-today/">Fragile is the best-looking Wii game you'll see today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Jul 2008 23:00:00 EST. Yep, you'll find a whole bunch of fresh, clear and ... <em>don't touch them</em> .. rather pretty images from this intriguing tri-Crescendo RPG in our new gallery.<br /><br /><em>Fragile</em>? What the heck is that, you say? A history lesson -- it was announced as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/fragile-namco-bandais-ruin-exploration-rpg/">"ruin-exploration RPG"</a> last year, and only now has Namco released some new character art and images from in-game scenes. It seemed like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sadness/">vaporware</a> for a brief period there, but new life has sprung forth! It's more stuff, just like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/first-fragile-trailer-and-gameplay-details-leave-us-wanting-more/">we wanted</a>, but we <em>actually</em> meant "give, game now! us!" instead of a simple collection of media.<br /><br />Here's an idea. Go to the <a href="http://fragile.namco-ch.net/">official website</a>, have a read (if understanding Japanese is a skill you possess), and make sure the volume is turned up to let the haunting tune surround you. Hit the gallery for quietly surreal screens and enjoy the <em>Fragile</em> experience! Tri-Crescendo, developers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eternalsonata"><em>Eternal Sonata</em></a> for the Xbox 360 and PS3, are currently working on a new RPG for the Nintendo Wii. Entitled <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/28987/Namco-lifts-the-lid-on-new-Wii-RPG"><em>Fragile</em></a>, the RPG follows the story of Set, a young boy who must explore various cities in a post-apocalyptic world.<br /><br />Details at this time are scarce because, well, we can't read Japanese. Those with a bit more skill in the language department might want to check out the game's <a href="http://fragile.namco-ch.net/">official website</a>, which also features screenshots and a teaser trailer for the game.<br /><br />Those that are a bit lazier can check out the trailer after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/namco-unveils-fragile-a-new-wii-rpg/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Namco unveils Fragile, a new Wii RPG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/namco-unveils-fragile-a-new-wii-rpg/">Namco unveils Fragile, a new Wii RPG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Nov 2007 15:00:00 EST. <br />Since it first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/fragile-namco-bandais-ruin-exploration-rpg/">emerged</a> earlier this month, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NamcoBandai/">Namco Bandai</a>'s <span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile ~ Farewell Moon Ruins</span> has been a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Slowly but surely though, more on the tri-Crescendo-developed "ruin exploration RPG" is being revealed, and the past weekend saw a flurry of new media (such as the trailer above from the <a href="http://fragile.namco-ch.net/">official site</a>), all of which points to an RPG rich on atmosphere and suspense.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Famitsu</span> also had a few tidbits of gameplay information. Apparently, protagonist Seto will be equipped with a flashlight, which players will be able to control by pointing the Wii Remote at the screen. A metal detector will also be available (again, this will be controlled using the Wiimote), as well as "other tools." There is also talk of demons appearing during combat, though sadly a rather impenetrable translation prevented us from learning more. Nevertheless, you can color us <em>intrigued</em>.<br /><br />Head past the post break for a selection of screens, as taken from last week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/handle-these-fragile-scans-with-care/">magazine scans</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/first-fragile-trailer-and-gameplay-details-leave-us-wanting-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Fragile trailer and gameplay details leave us wanting more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/first-fragile-trailer-and-gameplay-details-leave-us-wanting-more/">First Fragile trailer and gameplay details leave us wanting more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. <br />This week's issue of <span style="font-style: italic;">Famitsu</span> has the scoop on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NamcoBandai/">Namco Bandai's</a> new "ruin-exploration RPG," <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/fragile-namco-bandais-ruin-exploration-rpg"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile ~ Farewell Moon Ruins</span></a>. Along with revealing that the game will be developed by tri-Crescendo (<span style="font-style: italic;">Baten Kaitos</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Baten Kaitos Origins</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Eternal Sonata</span>) and the <a href="http://www.venus-web.net/html/frame_top_noflash.htm" style="font-style: italic;">Venus &amp; Braves</a> team, the Japanese magazine previewed <span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile</span> with two pages of luxuriously purple screenshots and artwork. You can explore past the break for those. <br /><br />Despite the protagonist's feminine features and outfit, the pictured character, Seto, is actually a boy. <span style="font-style: italic;">Fragile</span> might still be in the early stages of development -- Seto has the same pose in every shot and combat scenes are noticeably absent -- but it really looks like it has a lot of potential. Hopefully, this game won't eventually bomb in Japan like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/opoona" style="font-style: italic;">Opoona</a> did, and some publisher will feel motivated to bring this to the states.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/handle-these-fragile-scans-with-care/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Handle these Fragile scans with care</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/handle-these-fragile-scans-with-care/">Handle these Fragile scans with care</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NamcoBandai/">Namco Bandai</a> has announced a new Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RPG/">RPG</a>, called <em>Fragile ~ Farewell Moon Ruins</em>, and there's not really that much information about it other than the name. It's being called a "ruin exploration <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RPG/">RPG</a>," which certainly fits with the teaser image on the website (seen above). <br /><br />The website will open on the 26th and will hopefully contain more information about the game, including minor details like <em>what it's about</em>, <em>who's making it</em> and <em>what you do. </em>But if it's really some kind of RPG set in the ruins of the modern world (and it's not a card game or something), we are <em>already on board. </em>Really, if it's some kind of RPG on the Wii, we're on board.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208634">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/fragile-namco-bandais-ruin-exploration-rpg/">Fragile: Namco Bandai's 'ruin exploration RPG'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 20:00:00 EST.
