Beeline has found success with the similarly designed management games <em>Smurfs' Village</em> and <em>Snoopy Street Fair,</em> with this <em>Ghostbusters</em> game putting players "in the role of a fledgling Ghostbusters franchisee."<br /><br />"Given our ongoing relationship with them on <em>Smurfs' Village</em>, [Beeline] are the perfect partner to carry forward the success of <em>Ghostbusters</em> in the interactive space," said VP of Sony Pictures Consumer Products Mark Caplan.<br /><br />Beeline describes <em>Ghostbusters</em> more as a tycoon game, as players upgrade their proton packs and traps to take higher-paying jobs and upgrade the business. We've heard some horror stories about the arduous nature of the Xbox Live certification process, but <em>whoa man</em>, this is a little excessive. Do you guys remember back when they made a video game interpretation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghostbusters-the-video-game"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> franchise like, a hundred years ago? Well, the 360 version of that game had some niggling issues preventing users from unlocking four of the game's multiplayer Achievements -- issues that were <a href="http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=163869953650722&amp;id=112352399784">fixed in a patch</a> which went live earlier this week, some <em>eighteen months</em> after the game's initial release.<br />
<br />
Of course, we're only assuming the certification process is to blame for the patch's late arrival. Maybe it just took that long for developer Terminal Reality to fix these problems. Or maybe Slimer was up to his old tricks, delaying the dev team with his incorporeal shenanigans.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/xbox-360-ghostbusters-patch-fixes-broken-achievements/">Xbox 360 Ghostbusters patch fixes broken Achievements</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 14:30:00 EST. <em>Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime</em> will be a downloadable follow-up to 2009's <em>Ghostbusters: The Video Game</em>, 'cause Gozer knows publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/atari-sales-and-losses-down-in-first-half-online-revenue-up/">Atari can barely afford</a> a full-cost sequel. Being developed by <em>Assault Heroes</em> creator Wanako (now named Behavior Studios), the four-player (online and couch co-op) top-down action game will not feature any voice work by the original Ghostbusters like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. It's still unclear whether their characters even appear, or if they've been replaced by a new team of specter hunters.<br />
<br />
<em>Sanctum of Slime</em>, to be released in the Spring of 2011 on XBLA, PSN and PC, will have players taking the role of "the rookie," who was introduced in the 2009 game. We don't have more details beyond what little information and screens were given to <a href="http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2010/12/atari-and-sony-plan-sequel-to-ghostbusters-video-game/1">USA Today</a>, so let's just cross our streams and hope for the best.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/02/ghostbusters-sanctum-of-slime-slathered-on-xbla-psn-and-pc-nex/">Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime slathered on XBLA, PSN and PC next Spring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Dec 2010 10:42:00 EST. Who you gonna call? Your friends, to tell them they'd best hit Amazon straight away if they've shown any interest in Atari's <i><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Ghostbusters">Ghostbusters</a> </i>for PS3, Wii or Xbox 360. For today only, all three versions are <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000208101">on sale</a> for $14.99. Tomorrow they'll be back up to $20. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88-IBCJiItw">Louis Tully</a> would advise against waiting.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/06/amazon-ghostbusters-for-15-today-only/">Amazon: Ghostbusters for $15 today only</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Aug 2010 18:00:00 EST. But Terminal Reality is going to give Xbox 360 players a reason to start busting ghosts in multiplayer again, with a patch that fixes <a href="http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699291">glitches</a> in the multiplayer Achievements. That means that, following the update, you should be able to get the "Egon's Guinea Pig" Achievement! Tell your <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_II">mood slime</a> -- it'll be thrilled!<br />
<br />
You'll just ... have to wait a little longer. According to the announcement on TR's <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Terminal-Reality/112352399784">Facebook page</a>, the patch is "currently awaiting approval for distribution, which is likely to coincide with the Xbox 360 firmware update this Fall."<br />

Our problem with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> mainly revolves around the fact that we're not one of them. Our childhood-up-until-now dream has always been to slap on that jumpsuit and get knee-deep in Ectoplasmic residue with our comrades in arms, our shoulder patches glistening against the light of our <em>never-crossing</em> streams as we vanquish ancient evils. Well, it'll never happen -- mostly because Ghostbusters isn't real, despite our best attempts at willing it into existence. <br />
<br />
But at least there's some consolation in a <a href="http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&amp;t=18931">sweet Proton pack mod</a> for the Wii. The glorious concoction of plastic and LEDs was created by Ghostbusters Fans forum member irrelevanttomfoolery and sets the benchmark for badass game controller mods. Seriously, that ridiculous <a href="http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/6436767233477534.JPG.30892426729276623"><em>Resident Evil 4</em> chainsaw</a> is like child's play compared to how awesome this thing is, so click on the image above and go read up on it.<br />

Atari may not have published a ton of games in 2009, but that doesn't mean the company hasn't been picking up the bottom line. In a press release that reads like the exact opposite of those we saw from the company just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/atari-posts-12-million-q1-loss-whos-got-the-will/">a few years ago</a>, CEO Jeff Lapin celebrates the &euro;92.5 million ($126.25 million) in revenue earned in the nine months ending December 31, saying "the company has now strengthened its equity and is in a position to work on an expanded publishing plan." In so many words, Lapin's suggesting that Atari is financially bouncing back and maybe even gearing up to (dare we say it?) make more games. <br />
<br />
The company cites sales of <em>Ghostbusters</em>, <em>Chronicles of Riddick</em>, <em>Backyard Football</em>, and <em>Champions Online</em> for bolstering revenues in fiscal Q3 and looks forward to a better 2010. The recent release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/star-trek-online">Star Trek Online</a></em> certainly doesn't seem to be hurting his confidence in that department. Lapin says that he's "very enthusiastic about the launch" of the "promising MMO game." <br />
<br />
But things aren't all gumdrops and money hats -- the Q3 revenues were still down by 1.9% year-over-year. We won't find out the full year's earnings until late May, but for now we'll comfort ourselves with the knowledge that the publisher's next title, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-runway">Project Runway</a></em>, is coming in a few short weeks. Finally!<br />

Its recent <a href="http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/press/zeitgeist2009/entertaining.html">Zeitgeist 2009 report</a> shows what the most popular gaming term searches of this year have been and the results are pretty surprising.<br /><br />At the top spot is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a>, which is fine by us -- it was a pretty big deal when it was announced and it sold a lot of copies, so naturally folks were interested. But, as we delve deeper into the top 10, the search terms become a bit more interesting. The next three terms -- "ufc" "saw" and "bakugan" -- really threw us for a loop. <em>Saw</em>? Really? <em>Bakugan</em>? What is that, a gun that uses <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baku_%28spirit%29">evil Japanese spirits</a> for ammo? Actually, that sounds pretty cool.<br /><br />Further into the list, we see that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a> managed to put a batarang in the fifth spot, much lower than we'd like, but we can live with that -- however, coming in at the sixth spot is <em>Twilight</em>. Guys! Vampires. Do. Not. Sparkle. Seventh was <em>FIFA 2010</em>, followed by <em>Modern Warfare</em> in eighth. The ninth spot belonged to <em>Transformers 2</em>, which we must admit has one of <a href="http://www.spike.com/event/vga2009/page/vote/category/34768">this year's best performances by a human male</a>, so that seems okay. Finally, <em>Resident Evil 5</em> rounded out the list in last place.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/google-zeitgeist-2009-shows-years-top-game-searches/">Google Zeitgeist 2009 shows year's top game searches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 23:59:00 EST. To quote the immortal words of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5YinC46RZU">musical revolutionaries known as Widelife</a>, "all things just keep getting better!" For the purpose of this post, "all things" include <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/early-holiday">Steam's post-Thanksgiving deals</a>, which seem to have hit critical value mass today. <em>Resident Evil 5</em> for $24.99? <em>Borderlands</em> for $33.49? <em>Ghostbusters</em> for $9.99? <em>Left 4 Dead: Game of the Year Edition</em> for $7.49? <em>Daddy like</em>.<br />
<br />
Once again, if you don't like the games which have had their prices temporarily torn in twain, tune in tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. PST for the next batch of deals.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/28/steam-deals-day-three-resident-evil-5-left-4-dead-borderlands/">Steam Deals Day Three: Resident Evil 5, Left 4 Dead, Borderlands on sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 28 Nov 2009 12:30:00 EST. We had to ration out quotes and references to the <em>Ghostbusters</em> films in our posts, working tirelessly not to exhaust our resources. We made it to the game's release by the skin of our teeth -- but earlier today, Atari did us the great discourtesy of <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/ghostbusterstm-the-video-game-on-pspr-playstationrportable-systems-including-the-psprgo-system-this-november-62854372.html">announcing that the title is coming to PSP</a>. While North American Xbox 360 and Wii gamers should have mastered ghostbusting by now, European players were forced to put their talents on the shelf when the game was announced as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">a timed exclusive for Sony platforms</a>. Sadly, European gamers will have to wait a little longer to capture a copies of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghostbusters/">Ghostbusters</a></em> on Microsoft and Nintendo's platforms.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=222992?cid=OTC-RSS&amp;attr=CVG-General-RSS">CVG</a> reports that <em>Ghostbusters</em> for the Xbox 360 and Wii has been delayed from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/ghostbusters-non-sony-euro-releases-dated-oct-23/">October 23rd</a> to November 6th. Of course, European Xbox 360 owners are more than welcome to import the game, since the <em>Ghostbusters</em> NTSC release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/xbox-360-ghostbusters-not-region-locked-europe-doesnt-need-to/">uses no region protection</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/non-sony-versions-of-ghostbusters-delayed-in-europe/">Non-Sony versions of Ghostbusters delayed in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 15:00:00 EST. We were moved -- genuinely moved! -- by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/26/more-pixels-being-patched-into-ps3-version-of-ghostbusters/">Terminal Reality's efforts to improve</a> the lackluster visual quality of the PS3 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> with a recent patch. However, while the implementation of multi-sampling anti-aliasing and a slight bump of resolution make the PS3 title look prettier than its launch iteration, <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-ghostbusters-patch-blog-entry">a recent Digital Foundry comparison</a> came to a startling conclusion. Even post-patch, the game fails to deliver on its promise of 720p resolution or equality with the 360 version of <em>Ghostbusters</em>.<br />
<br />
The Eurogamer-hosted blog has a few enormous image comparisons for the pixel-counters among you. We're not experts on visual fidelity (What's an alias? Why must it be anti'ed?) but we do know that <em>we are owed</em>. Does one penny per missing pixel sound fair to you?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/31/ghostbusters-ps3-patch-is-close-to-720p-but-no-cigar/">Ghostbusters PS3 patch is close to 720p, but no cigar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Aug 2009 13:20:00 EST. The PS3 version of <em>Ghostbusters</em> was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/ghostbusters-on-ps3-lags-behind-360-version-developer-explains/">largely criticized</a> for its inferior performance compared to the Xbox 360 version. Developer Terminal Reality told Joystiq, "The PS3 version ... is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version." 25% fewer pixels? Unacceptable!<br />
<br />
Atari is promising to redress the differences between the two platforms with a new patch for the PS3 version which is supposedly available <em>right now</em>. According to the Atari press release, the patch will offer an "increase in resolution to match that of Xbox 360" while offering "numerous other localization fixes."<br />
<br />
Additionally, the <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/07/11/trophies-ghostbusters/">Trophies</a> for the game have been fixed. A glitch - caused when players from Europe and America played with each other - prevented the "Pay Day" and "Capture All Most Wanted Ghosts" Trophies (and subsequently, the game's mandatory Platinum) from unlocking properly. If bustin' ghosts with your international pals <em>makes you feel good</em>, it might be time to fire up <em>Ghostbusters</em> again.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/26/more-pixels-being-patched-into-ps3-version-of-ghostbusters/">More pixels being patched into PS3 version of Ghostbusters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 10:45:00 EST. Four of the five - <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/ufc-2009-and-red-faction-guerrilla-bolster-thq-profits/">UFC 2009 Undisputed</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/june-npd-prototype-rips-apart-the-sales-charts/">Prototype</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fight-night-round-4">Fight Night Round 4</a></em>, and <em>NCAA Football 2010</em> - are safe bets; however, the last game on that list is a surprise: <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a>. <br />
<br />
Atari's movie adaptation was successful, but its no-show on the last <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/june-npd-prototype-rips-apart-the-sales-charts/">two</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/july-npd-hardware-sales-slide-wii-sports-resort-soars/">month's</a> NPD charts suggested it wasn't selling <em>that</em> well. In fact, the NPD tells us that across all six platforms, it has sold just 560,000 copies in North America. The best-selling version, in case you were curious, was the Xbox 360 release, at 225,000. We're contacting Atari about the discrepancy between the NPD numbers and Atari's announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/over-one-million-new-ghostbusters-recruits-in-north-america/">one million sales</a>, but its inclusion on GameStop's top seller list seems to imply that Atari's number is closer to the truth. Which would mean that <em>Ghostbusters</em> is something of a stealth hit!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/20/ghostbusters-among-gamestops-top-five-games-this-quarter/">Ghostbusters among GameStop's top five games this quarter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Aug 2009 17:20:00 EST. Since its June 16 release, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters: The Video Game</em></a> has managed to sell over one million copies in North America across all platforms. That's a pretty big deal, doubly so for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/atari">Atari</a>, a company in dire need of some success. We can't imagine what kind of hot water the company would be in if it couldn't recoup some of that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/ghostbusters-cost-15-20-million-devs-would-love-to-revisit-fra/">$15 - $20 million it cost to develop</a> the game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/over-one-million-new-ghostbusters-recruits-in-north-america/">Over one million new Ghostbusters recruits in North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 18:00:00 EST. Namco Bandai partners has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> will officially arrive on European Wii, DS and Xbox 360 consoles (and PCs) on October 23, according to <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/non-sony_ghostbusters_dated.html">VideoGamer.com</a>. Thus far, the game has only been officially available for the PS3 and PS2 thanks to its initial European publisher, Sony. That said, the North American Xbox 360 version is reportedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/xbox-360-ghostbusters-not-region-locked-europe-doesnt-need-to/">not region-locked</a>, allowing European gamers to import the title.<br />

Still, for Nintendo and Xbox players longing for what <em>Play Magazine</em> calls the "best damn <em>Ghostbusters</em> game [they've] ever seen" (as opposed to the vastly superior version we were <em>hoping</em> for), the wait is going to be just a bit longer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/ghostbusters-non-sony-euro-releases-dated-oct-23/">Non-Sony Ghostbusters releases dated in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 10:30:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters: The Video Game</em></a> has allegedly sold over one million copies -- after costing $15-20 million to produce. The figures were revealed in a feature about developer Terminal Reality in the <a href="http://www.star-telegram.com/living/story/1491273.html">Star-Telegram</a> of Texas. Although the price tag may seem high, it's not unusual for next-gen development. Remember, Ken Levine revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/08/ken-levine-next-project-will-cost-a-fair-amount-of-money/"><em>BioShock</em> cost about $15 million</a> in fancy 2007 dollars.<br />
<br />
Terminal Reality's co-founder, Mark Randel, says he's heard the game's success has sparked interest in a third movie and, if that happens, he'd love for the company to handle development of the obligatory tie-in game. Let's see if we got this straight: the next game would be based on the third <em>Ghostbusters</em> movie, spawned by the success of the video game, created to tie in with the 25th anniversary of the first movie and, of course, the game was written as if it were the third movie. We got that right?<br />

<div align="left">As the Japanese website <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/behold-the-littlebigplanet-ghostbusters-dlc/">suggested</a>, the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters">Ghostbusters</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet">LittleBigPlanet</a></em> DLC will be available this week. As you can see above, the costumes have been fully revealed. They, along with the accompanying stickers, will be available on Thursday during the normal PSN update. The pack will cost you $5.99, or you can grab individual costumes for $1.99. They're great costumes, but we're still hankering for some more levels. It's been over six months since the <em>MGS4</em> pack came out, you know.</div>

<div align="left">And there they are. Via the <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/lbp/main.html">Japanese <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> website</a>, Sony has announced the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/bustin-makes-sackboy-wear-a-hood/"><em>LittleBigPlanet Ghostbusters</em> DLC</a> will be arriving in Japan next week, July 16. We're sure that no one really <em>needs</em> us to explain what will be available (it's all right up there, folks!), but here we go. Obviously, there is a Ghostbuster costume, along with a nifty trap item. There's also the "no ghosts' costume, the Staypuft Marshmallow Man costume and a Slimer hat.<br /><br />Each costume will be &yen;200 (~$2.17), or players can nab the whole pack for &yen;600 (~$6.50). Hopefully, Sony will bust out the details for other regions soon.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/10/check-out-all-the-ghostbusters-littlebigplanet-costumes/">Siliconera</a>]</div>

Powering up the old 360 earlier today, we discovered that a <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> demo is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace. 360 owners can snag it <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802494707f4/?p=1&amp;of=1&amp;bt=0&amp;sb=1#offers">right here</a>. A few more checks with our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/jem-alexander/">super-top-secret UK contact</a> confirmed that it's currently up on the European Playstation Store as well, meaning it's <em>probably</em> going to be available in North America after the weekly update later today.<br /><br />Go grab it and see if bustin' makes you feel good (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/review-ghostbusters-the-video-game-xbox-360-ps3/">or not</a>).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/ghostbusters-demo-busts-out-on-xblm-psn/">Ghostbusters demo busts out on XBLM, PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 12:45:00 EST. It turns out that it was the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghostbusters/">Ghostbusters</a>. You are gonna call the Ghostbusters. <br /><br />The PlayStation Blog revealed a poster of a Sackboy wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt, which makes the <em>LBP </em>avatar resemble the ghost character from the <em>Ghostbusters </em>logo. While it doesn't answer <em>all</em> the questions we have (is this a downloadable costume? Is it free? Will there be <em>Ghostbusters-</em>related levels? Is the "no" symbol part of the costume?) the latest update on <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> suggests that <em>some</em> <em>Ghostbusters-</em>related content is on the way. In a recent post on <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/03/sack-it-to-me-the-liberty-edition/">Playstation.Blog</a> highlighting the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/29/download-a-free-sacktue-of-liberty-costume-for-littlebigplanet/">Sacktue of Liberty costume</a>, the company dropped a not so subtle hint. The artist who helped inspire the graphic style of the Wii and PS2 versions of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghostbusters/">Ghostbusters</a></em> is angry for being omitted from the game's credits. According to <a href="http://traditionaldanimatio.deviantart.com/journal/25439081/?offset=10">a blog post</a> by artist Dan Schoening, Sony and Sierra -- the original publisher of the game before it was picked up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/dan-aykroyd-atari-picked-up-ghostbusters/">by Atari</a>, following the Activision/Blizzard merger -- "100% guaranteed" he would be credited for his help in shaping the final look of the two versions of the recently released title. "For a game that in many ways is heavily influenced by my work, is it too much to ask for some acknowledgment?," Schoening wrote over the weekend.<br /><br />Yesterday, Red Fly Studio (the team behind the Wii/PS2 versions) CEO Dan Borth defended his company's position to <a href="http://wii.kombo.com/article.php?artid=14417">Kombo</a>. According to Borth, many people responsible for the game were omitted for the simple reason that there <em>wasn't enough room</em>. "After Sony, Vivendi, Atari all got their credits we had few spaces for ourselves and the others who worked on the games with us -- Zen Studios, War Drum studios, etc," Borth said. "Many people didn't make it and they worked many, many more hours on this game than Mr. Dan I can assure you. Does that make it right? No it doesn't. That's just how it played out.<br /><br />Borth admits that Schoening's name was omitted, but is adamant that it was not done intentionally. While not having "space" for the artist's credit is one of the saddest attempts at an excuse we've ever heard, Borth apologized to Schoening for the omission and thanked him for his work on the <a href="http://devblog.redflystudio.com/2009/06/23/special-thanks-to-dan-schoening/">dev's official blog</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.truegameheadz.com/blogheadz/talented-character-designer-for-ghostbusters-wii-gets-the-shaft/">TrueGameHeadz</a>. Judaism has wised up, though. Those who follow its teachings in regards to keeping kosher - specifically by <a href="http://www.tabletmag.com/life-and-religion/haunted-ham/">blasting a ham</a> at a bar mitzvah in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ghostbusters/">Ghostbusters</a></em> - will be rewarded with an Achievement (and a Trophy, we presume) called "Kosher." It's only 10 points, but still, it's substantial.<br />
<br />
Man, why does all the best stuff happen to Jews?<br />

According to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=670&amp;s=1111">Chart Track</a>'s UK software sales figures from last week, we know the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/04/the-green-mile-actor-barry-pepper-to-voice-prototype-lead/">Barry Pepper-voiced</a> free-roamer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prototype/"><em>Prototype</em></a>, has managed to secure the top spot. It wasn't an easy battle, as Radical Entertainment's title had some stiff competition in Terminal Reality's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a>, which made its debut in the UK last week. <br /><br />The ghost bustin' reunion was not enough to topple the "go anywhere, kill <em>everything</em>" game, and managed to secure the bronze with a third place showing. It should be noted that this is the all-format charts, and with it being <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">a PS3 exclusive</a> in the territory (Xbox 360 owners <em>do</em> have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/xbox-360-ghostbusters-not-region-locked-europe-doesnt-need-to/">options</a>, though), third is pretty impressive for a game on just one platform (excluding <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a>). As for second place, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-sims-3"><em>The Sims 3</em></a> dropped down from its cushy throne last week thanks to a 49% decline in sales. Don't feel too bad for the game, though -- it did have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/sims-3-has-best-ea-pc-launch-ever/">the best PC launch</a> in EA's history, you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/uk-chart-get-prototype-on-top-ghostbusters-debuts-at-third/">UK chart get: Prototype on top, Ghostbusters debuts at third</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 15:15:00 EST. PlayStation Home is getting yet another update today, with the introduction of a new <em>SOCOM Confrontation</em> game space and a new for-purchase personal space based on <em>Ghostbusters</em>.<br /><br />The "SOCOM Tactical Operations Center" space is actually the first half of the <em>SOCOM</em> Home hub. This space will allow players to gather and create strategies around the Telestrator. Sounds a lot like the <em>Warhawk</em> game space.<br /><br />The <em>Ghostbusters</em> firehouse personal space is a three-story complex, ripped straight from the <em>Ghostbusters</em> video game. The personal space will come with unique items, like an Ecto-1, and features <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/make-your-own-short-films-in-playstation-home-with-stageset/">Stage Set</a> functionality, so players can create their own <em>Ghostbusters</em>-themed movies. Finally, you'll be able to fly around as Slimer as well. Both these updates should be available in Home later today.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/socom-and-ghostbusters-join-playstation-home/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SOCOM and Ghostbusters join PlayStation Home</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/socom-and-ghostbusters-join-playstation-home/">SOCOM and Ghostbusters join PlayStation Home</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Jun 2009 13:00:00 EST. We suppose it's a little ironic that the multiplayer for the PC version of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> is little more than a phantom. That is to say that the PC version doesn't actually have multiplayer <em>at all</em>, a fact our compatriots at Big Download reported earlier <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/06/14/sorry-pc-players-no-online-multiplayer-for-your-ghostbusters-ga/">this week</a>. Naturally, PC gamers probably have a few questions about this, chief among them being, "What gives?"<br />
<br />
When asked by <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/06/17/atari-and-threewave-comment-on-lack-of-multiplayer-in-pc-ghostbu/">Big Download</a> for a response, Atari sent along comments from Dan Irish, CEO of Threewave, the game's multiplayer developer. According to Irish, Threewave had intended to create multiplayer for both consoles and the PC, but eventually decided to focus on the console versions in order to keep the quality bar as high as possible. According to Irish, if the company had attempted to develop both the PC and console versions simultaneously, "something would have to suffer."<br />
<br />
Probably not the answer PC players were hoping for. Another question that has yet to be answered, according to Big Download, is whether Atari and Threewave have any plans to add multiplayer in the future.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/atari-responds-to-missing-multiplayer-in-ghostbusters-pc/">Atari responds to missing multiplayer in Ghostbusters PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 19:00:00 EST. <br />
Richard Leadbetter - Director of HD consultancy Digital Foundry and author of Eurogamer's multiplatform comparison <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/archive.php?platform=digitalfoundry&amp;type=face-off">Face-off features</a> - tweeted that playing <em>Ghostbusters</em> on the PS3 was like "time-warping back to the dawn of PS3 development." Ouch! That's especially painful to read considering the high hopes Terminal Reality - developers of the just-released <em>Ghostbusters</em> game - have for their multiplatform <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Infernal-Engine/">Infernal Engine</a>.<br />
<br />
Internet reports of a less-than-stellar PS3 version of the title originated at <a href="http://www.lensoftruth.com/?p=10974">Lens of Truth</a> on Monday, were later corroborated by <a href="http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/ghostbusters-ps3-960-by-540-360-720p-$1304198.htm">Gamezine.co.uk</a> and, following tomorrow's publication of Leadbetter's most recent Face-off feature, will be further corroborated by Eurogamer. Confusing the issue even further is the following quote from Terminal Reality's Mark Randel, who <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2008/04/28/sierra-spring-break-08-ps3-exclusivity-would-have-allowed-double-the-amount-of-objects-on-screen-says-ghostbusters-dev/">told VG247 last year</a>, "We're one of the few developers who love the PS3 and have a great time with it. We have great technology for the PS3 and we want to show it off."<br />
<br />
Instead of leaving it up to internet Matlocks, we asked Terminal Reality to comment on the controversy. A spokesperson for the developer told us, "For the record, the PS3 version [of <em>Ghostbusters</em>] is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version. So you cannot directly compare a screen shot of one to the other unless you scale them properly. The PS3 does have less available RAM than the 360 - but we managed to squeeze 3 out of 4 textures as full size on the PS3."<br />
<br />
So: is the PS3 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/ea-exec-360-has-already-been-maxed-out/">"maxed out"</a>? Or is Terminal Reality's engine - despite comments to the contrary - just not up to snuff on the PS3? With most recent multiplatform titles performing comparably, if not identically, on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, we'd be inclined to agree with Mr. Leadbetter: it's like "time-warping back to the dawn of PS3 development" when PS3 games were routinely outperformed by their Xbox 360 counterparts. Let's hope the irony of the situation is lost on <em>Ghostbusters</em>' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">exclusive European publisher</a> ... Sony. As well as the franchise's owner ... Sony Pictures.<br />

Listen ... do you smell something? Stripped of its license, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters">Ghostbusters</a></em> is a passable, if largely forgettable game. The entire experience is held together on the merits of its source material alone, with occasionally witty dialog and story draped like a sheet across what amounts to inconsistent gameplay and level design that would make most amateur modders cringe. <br />
<br />
Still, given <em>Ghostbusters</em>' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/ghostbusters-officially-going-to-atari/">rocky road to retail</a>, I suppose we should be grateful that there's a game to complain about at all. <br />

According to a number of reports from North American purchasers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters: The Video Game</em></a>, the highly anticipated film-to-game adaptation is more than capable of <em>crossing the stream</em> known as the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, players are claiming that <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8095205.stm">the Xbox 360 version of the title isn't region-locked</a>, and can be played on consoles worldwide -- even in Europe, where Sony recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">scored the publishing rights for the title</a>, turning it into a PS3 exclusive.<br />
<br />
In other words, for Europe's import-savvy 360 owners, the chance to digitally don a proton pack is just one transatlantic cargo plane journey away.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/xbox-360-ghostbusters-not-region-locked-europe-doesnt-need-to/">Xbox 360 Ghostbusters not region-locked, Europe doesn't need to wait</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Jun 2009 10:40:00 EST. Don't want to pony up the $8 to download <em>Burnout Paradise</em>'s premium "Legendary" cars? Well, here's a cheaper alternative: buy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/08/big-surf-island-will-wash-12-99-out-of-your-wallet/"><em>Big Surf Island</em></a> for $13, as it includes special <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/toy-cars-dlc-rolling-into-burnout-paradise-this-thursday/">toy versions</a> of all four <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/see-what-youll-be-ruining-in-burnouts-new-dlc/">DLC cars</a>. You can get a cute mini version of the hovering 88 Special (pictured above), Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and GT Nighthawk by completing various tasks around the new <em>Burnout</em> island:<br />
<ul>

We'll admit that we were too cheap to pay for the Legendary DLC, but with a little bit of skill, we'll be able to drive our own <em>Ghostbusters</em>-inspired car in no time.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/">Burnout Paradise: Legendary Cars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/#1273032"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/burnout.legendary.003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Jansen 88 Special" title="Jansen 88 Special" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/#1273414"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/burnout.comparison.001b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Jansen 88 Special vs. DeLorean time machine" title="Jansen 88 Special vs. DeLorean time machine" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/#1273026"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/burnout.legendary.001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Manhattan Spirit" title="Manhattan Spirit" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/#1273371"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/burnout.comparison.002b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Manhattan Spirit vs. Ecto-1" title="Manhattan Spirit vs. Ecto-1" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/burnout-paradise-legendary-cars/#1273024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/burnout.legendary.002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Carson Nighthawk" title="Carson Nighthawk" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/15/unlock-legendary-cars-for-free-in-burnout-paradise-big-surf/">Unlock Legendary cars (for free!) in Burnout Paradise: Big Surf Island</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Jun 2009 12:14:00 EST. It's been a long time coming, but the European <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/06/01/whats-coming-up-on-psn-this-june/">PlayStation.Blog</a> has confirmed that Sony's online cake-fest, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/fat-princess"><em>Fat Princess</em></a>, will receive a June release. Just in case you didn't notice, that's <em>this</em> month. While the release timetable is only confirmed for Europe, it's likely the PSN capture-the-princess game will find a global release.<br /><br />In addition to <em>Fat Princess</em>, SCEE confirmed June releases for <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/trash-panic"><em>Trash Panic</em></a>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/numblast"><em>Numblast</em></a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> demo. PSP owners will be able to expect <em>Ape Academy 2</em>, <em>Everybody's Golf 2</em>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/syphon-filter"><em>Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow</em></a> and <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/wipeout-pulse"><em>WipEout Pulse</em></a> in the European PS Store.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/">Fat Princess</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/#2056562"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fp_e3_gore_6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/#2056563"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fp_e3_gore_8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/#2056564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fp_e3_gore_10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/#2056565"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fp_e3_nogore_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fat-princess/#2056566"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/fp_e3_nogore_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/fat-princess-gobbles-up-june-release/">Fat Princess gobbles up June release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Jun 2009 09:30:00 EST. You can see it on the tiny screens when the floating DS turns to face us. Right there, behind the character art. We <em>think</em> it looks pretty good. <br />
<br />
While we're on the subject of <em>Ghostbusters</em> on DS, we hope the <em>Ghostbusters</em>' games' approach to multiplatform game design pays off, because it's the kind of approach we like to see. Rather than having developers create stripped-down versions of another developer's game, Atari (actually original publisher Sierra, we guess) got Terminal Reality and Red Fly, developers who <em>know what they're doing</em> on their respective consoles, to make <em>different games</em> for the different platforms. So this DS game isn't a crappy version of an Xbox game, for example.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/terminal-reality">Terminal Reality</a> hopes other developers ain't afraid of licensing the studio's Infernal Engine to use on future projects. In fact, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters">Ghostbusters</a> dev's VP of sales and marketing, Joe Kreiner, tells <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/terminal-realitys-joe-kreiner">GI.biz</a> that his goal is to secure "at least another half a dozen to a dozen within the next year, at minimum." An attainable goal, according to Kreiner, which if achieved would put the number of customers in Terminal Reality's containment unit somewhere in the neighborhood of twelve since the middleware <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/terminal-reality-aint-afraid-of-licensing-no-middleware/">first opened up to developers in February</a>.<br /><br />Rather than a short-term solution, Kreiner further notes that the Infernal Engine was designed to work across multiple CPUs and SPUs, something the marketing chief believes "future-proofs" the tech for use on later console platforms down the line. In the short term, however, he adds that <em>Ghostbusters</em> shows off the engine "really well." Hopefully other studios will come calling now that the game's publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/activision-blizzard-still-reviewing-fate-of-ghostbusters-50-c/">merry</a>-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/ghostbusters-officially-going-to-atari/">go</a>-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">round</a> has (hopefully) stopped ahead of the title's anticipated June launch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/ghostbusters-dev-targeting-more-infernal-engine-licensees-this-y/">Ghostbusters dev targeting more Infernal Engine licensees this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 May 2009 19:30:00 EST. Then we remembered that it was <em>impossible</em> to get tired of that song.<br />
<br />
As for the game, the multiplayer component features <em>flagrant</em> stream-crossing, on-the-fly revival of fellow Busters, and multiple instances of the same character. If someone else is Winston and <em>you</em> wanted to be Winston, no problem! What a relief. This trailer also briefly highlights the game's "Protection" mode, in which players battle ghosts in order to keep them from destroying vulnerable technology.<br />

We realize it's a surprise, but apparently Terminal Reality believes that constantly changing publishers isn't all that great. The <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> game has traveled a very rocky publishing road, starting with Sierra, then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/activision-blizzard-still-reviewing-fate-of-ghostbusters-50-c/">sitting in limbo</a> following the Activision / Vivendi merger, then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/07/ghostbusters-officially-going-to-atari/">moving to Atari</a> and <em>then</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">moving to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe</a> for the European market. Adding to the mess, SCEE will initially release the game only on PS3 and PS2 in Europe, leaving the 360, Wii and DS versions for later this year.<br />
<br />
Speaking to <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/terminal-reality-frustrated-at-ghostbusters-merry-go-round">GI.biz</a>, Terminal Reality executive producer Brendon Goss said that the situation is not "ideal" as the developer prefers to create "a collaborative relationship" with publishers. He adds that all versions of the game are complete and he hopes that European release schedule won't cause confusion, which he said could harm sales of the game. In the face of the publishing decisions, which Goss said Terminal Reality had no say in, the team decided to focus on improving the game.<br />
<br />
We'll find out if that work paid off when the game releases this June.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/08/ghostbusters-dev-publisher-changes-not-ideal/">Ghostbusters dev: Publisher changes not 'ideal'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 May 2009 22:00:00 EST.
