Tomorrow a livestream press conference will reveal a new RPG with a futuristic setting, evidenced by Rayban Charles up there.<br /><br />He's some concept art that CD Projekt Red released to tease tomorrow's stream, which you can catch over on Facebook or at <a href="http://www.thewitcher.com">thewitcher.com</a>. And with the stream taking place over on the latter, that blip about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/witcher-rise-of-the-white-wolf-spotted-on-retail-sites-for-xbox/"><em>The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf</em></a> from earlier today seems like another candidate for an announcement tomorrow. The plot <em>thickens</em>.<br /><br />The livestream takes place tomorrow at 1pm ET. To see the rest of Rayban's centerfold, you'll need to grab the hoverboard and cruise past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/">CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 22:30:00 EST. That is, until <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/botanicula-leads-all-amanita-humble-bundle/">The Humble <em>Botanicula</em> Debut Bundle</a> showed up, offering <em>Botanicula</em>, <em>Machinarium</em> and <em>Samorost 2</em> for any amount of money you wanted.<br /><br />Naturally, some folks that had pre-ordered <em>Botanicula</em> from GOG felt slighted, as they'd paid (nearly) full price for a game that almost immediately made available for close to zero dollars, in a bundle that also included two other games.<br /><br />"This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers' mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble <em>Botanicula</em> Debut as anyone else was," reads <a href="http://www.gog.com/news/gogcom_gift_to_botanicula_owners">GOG's olive branch</a>. To make things right, anyone who purchased <em>Botanicula</em> from GOG prior to 12:00 GMT on April 20 will receive a free copy of Machinarium, as well as links to download "the full soundtrack and a special artbook of <em>Botanicula</em> designs and character sketches."<br /><br />Additionally, everyone entitled to the above rewards will also receive a free copy of <em>The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut</em>. Goodies are expected to begin arriving sometime tomorrow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/22/gog-gifts-bonuses-to-miffed-botanicula-pre-orderers/">GOG gifts bonuses to miffed Botanicula pre-orderers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Apr 2012 19:30:00 EST. Games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/painkiller"><em>Painkiller</em></a>, <em>Spellforce</em>, <em>Dark Fall </em>and the <em>Gothic</em> series are all half-off until next week.<br /><br />On top of the Nordic discounts, GOG.com is offering the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a> for a paltry $5. "Heavy discounts are bad for gamers," Rambourg told <a href="http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/06/gog-talks-preserving-value-of-games-slow-death-of-drm/">Rock, Paper, Shotgun</a>. "If a gamer buys a game he or she doesn't want just because it's on sale, they're being trained to make bad purchases, and they're also learning that games aren't valuable." The all-too-common phenomenon of spending more money than you want to just to get everything that's on sale in a particular week is "not good for anyone," he said.<br /><br />If, like us, you wonder at this point how this attitude squares with GOG's own <a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_blast">weekend sales</a>, Rambourg explained: "Our average sale tends to be around 40% - 50% off; that's plenty of incentive to pick up a game if you're interested or if you just think you might like to try it because you're not sure about the game, but not some crazy 75% or 85% discount that damages the long-term value of a game." Of course, if you want to get extremely technical about it, the majority of GOG's business is selling $6 versions of games that cost upward of $50 when they originally came out (twenty years ago).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/16/gog-head-massive-discounts-bad-for-gamers/">GOG head: massive discounts 'bad for gamers'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 12:30:00 EST. The new, new GOG offers more community features to suggest new games, a new, faster downloader, and, most importantly, more games.<br /><br />GOG is fulfilling its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/report-good-old-games-to-offer-good-new-ish-games/">promise</a> of newer games with a growing selection of recent indies including <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/trine"><em>Trine</em></a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_whispered_world"><em>The Whispered World</em></a>. It's even selling a game that's so <em>not</em> old, it's not even out yet. The first two Square-Enix titles to hit the service are <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/hitman/"><em>Hitman: Codename 47</em></a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/deus_ex/"><em>Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition</em></a> (2000 being the year in question). You can pick up either for $5.99 and $9.99 respectively.<br /><br />GOG promises more Square Enix games to come. We'd expect most of those to come from Square's library of Eidos titles (<em>Thief</em>, anyone?), though the PC ports of <em>Final Fantasy VII</em> and <em>VIII</em> are a slim possibility. <em>Slim</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/26/square-enix-joins-good-old-games-with-deus-ex-and-hitman/">Square Enix joins Good Old Games with Deus Ex and Hitman</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jan 2012 11:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/syndicate">Syndicate</a></em>, the original title of twisted corporate greed and cyberpunk inhumanity, is hitting <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/syndicate">GOG</a> on Thursday, Jan. 19 for $5.99. GOG's <em>Syndicate </em>will come with the game manual, artwork and avatars, but until it's officially released GOG is having a little dystopian fun.<br />
<br />
Ten players can win a copy of <em>Syndicate </em>by forming the best team of four people -- yourself and three others, real or imaginary, dead, alive or not born yet -- to lead the DRM-free revolution as the world's largest Syndicate. Just drop a description of your team in the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/syndicate_on_gog_com_on_19th_of_january_plus_a_contest">GOG comments</a> before 7 a.m. EST on Jan. 19 for a chance to prove yourself in the corrupt corporate world.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/17/classic-syndicate-infiltrates-gog-on-jan-19-asks-how-to-conque/">Classic Syndicate infiltrates GOG on Jan. 19, asks how to conquer world first</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jan 2012 13:30:00 EST. Last week, we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/">told you</a> about GOG's upcoming Holiday Sale, forcing you to inhabit a dream of the future when you can buy old games cheaply. Now you can escape that reverie and feel the joy of $3 <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/duke_nukem_3d_atomic_edition/"><em>Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition</em></a> in the real world, as the Holiday Sale has begun!<br />
<br />
You'll find games like <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/beyond_good_and_evil"><em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em></a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/psychonauts"><em>Psychonauts</em></a>, and the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_incredible_machine_mega_pack"><em>Incredible Machine Mega Pack</em></a> for $5 each; <em><a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_2">Freespace 2</a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/master_of_orion_1_2">Master of Orion 1 + 2</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout"><em>Fallout</em></a> for $3 each; or, if you feel like playing something from this year,<em> <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2">The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</a></em> for $23.99.<br />
<br />
When you're browsing the deals page, be sure to hit the "show more deals" button at the bottom because, you see, there are so many <em>more deals</em>. In fact, almost everything in the catalog is half off until January 2. Activision games go back to regular price on December 26, and Codemasters and Piranha Bytes are skipping the sale.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/psa-gog-holiday-sale-on-now-lots-of-3-and-5-games/">PSA: GOG holiday sale on now, lots of $3 and $5 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 22:34:00 EST. Classic game distributor (and CD Projekt portal) GOG isn't one to be left out of the holiday discount phenomenon. The site <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/gog_com_s_holiday_celebrations_are_almost_here">revealed</a> its sales plans for the rest of the month, including a free copy of <em>The Witcher</em> with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>Witcher 2</em></a> downloads, and a 50 percent discount on "virtually" its whole catalog.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG cutting the prices of most games in half, giving Witcher with Witcher 2 purchase</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/">GOG cutting the prices of most games in half, giving Witcher with Witcher 2 purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Dec 2011 17:00:00 EST. During the CD Projekt Red Investor's Day conference in Poland today, GOG managing director Guillaume Rambourg announced an "audacious plan" to bolster the DRM-free retailer with the addition of new games, following the success of <a href="http:// http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/10/witcher-2-digital-sales-pass-a-quarter-million/"><em>The Witcher 2</em></a> on the service.<br />
<br />
"Traditionally, GOG.com has looked for great classics that are three years old or older," he said. "We will continue to add classic games, of course, but we are actively working to sign newer titles now." Rambourg noted that the newer games will cost more than most GOG releases --$13.99 to $16.99, but that the company plans to maintain its DRM-free model. The low prices suggest that these won't be brand new games, but simply games more recent than GOG's current three-year cutoff period.<br />
<br />
According to a <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/cdprojekt_press_conference/post68">translation</a> of GOG's action plan, the company's goal is to be the number two PC digital distribution platform. It's already the number one platform <em>in our minds</em>, whenever we think about old adventure games. Isn't that enough?<br />
<br />

Before Quantic Dream drenched us in <em>Heavy Rain</em>, it gave us the ambitious, story-driven <em>Fahrenheit</em>, now available on GOG.com for $6. <em>Fahrenheit</em>, known as <em>Indigo Prophecy</em> in North America, experimented with many of the techniques (and story elements) that ended up being refined in Quantic Dream's interactive novella on the PS3.<br />
<br />
<em>Fahrenheit</em> on GOG is the "uncut and uncensored version" of the game, not originally released in the States, which includes some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EafNYw7US4U">interactive sex scenes</a>. The real reason to play this game, however, is to watch an interesting, compelling premise go off the rails like a child star after an 18th birthday. A must-experience moment (of disappointment) for any future game writers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/08/fahrenheit-indigo-prophecy-now-on-gog/">Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) now on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Nov 2011 11:50:00 EST. This Halloween weekend, many major game distributors are treating us to some massive sales on games they consider "scary," "dark," or that include zombies. To make the scavenging easy while you put the final touches on your <a href="http://i.imgur.com/QvljM.jpg">Pyramid Head</a> costume (you freak), we've compiled the Halloween-weekend deals from EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, Namco Bandai and OnLive right here.<br />
<br />
The trick? We're eating all the candy ourselves, and you get none. <em>Boo</em>-ya.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/halloween-sale-megapost-namco-ea-gog-direct2drive-onlive/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halloween Sale Megapost: Namco, EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, OnLive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/halloween-sale-megapost-namco-ea-gog-direct2drive-onlive/">Halloween Sale Megapost: Namco, EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, OnLive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Oct 2011 15:30:00 EST. After <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/little-big-adventure-games-may-be-re-released-lba-remix-being/">earlier reports</a> indicated ongoing negotiations over the availability of action-adventure classic <em>Little Big Adventure</em>, the game suddenly <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/little_big_adventure">appeared on Good Old Games</a> this morning. Its sequel, however, remains absent, though we can't imagine that'll stay the case for much longer. Regardless, for $5.99, you can head back into Twinsun and get your 1994 on starting right now. <em>Hot dog!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/12/little-big-adventure-aka-relentless-twinsens-adventure-now/">Little Big Adventure (aka 'Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure') now on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Oct 2011 04:45:00 EST. During the CD Projekt Fall 2011 press conference, the publisher revealed that its GOG distribution platform is approaching the 6 million download milestone. To help push its sales -- which currently stand at a little over 5.8 million -- over the top, it <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/help_us_achieve_6_million_downloads_milestone">announced two promotions</a>: First, the six millionth downloader will receive every game on the platform for free. Second, for the first 48 hours after hitting the mark, everyone will get a free download of <em>Broken Sword: Shadow of The Templars Director's Cut</em>.<br />
<br />
For CD Projekt's sake, we hope they don't get those two promotions mixed up. To wit: "Congratulations! You're our six millionth customer, so here's <em>Broken Sword</em>! Everyone else, here's everything for free <em>oh god we gave all our games away.</em>"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/six-million-gog-downloads-means-broken-sword-for-everyone/">Six million GOG downloads means Broken Sword for everyone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Sep 2011 14:15:00 EST. <em>Wing Commander 3: Heart of The Tiger </em>is available now on GOG.com for $6. Promoted at the time as an "Origin Interactive Movie" and filmed in Hollywood (remember when that mattered?), the game is still a great example of early 3D graphics, FMV and an industry having a "movies are the future of games" identity crisis.<br />
<br />
Beyond Mark Hamill (<em>Star Wars</em>) in the lead, the game also featured John Rhys-Davies (<em>Lord of the Rings, Sliders</em>) and Malcolm McDowell (<em>Clockwork Orange, Heroes</em>).<br />
<br />
If sprites and animations are more your thing, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/wing-commander-and-dungeon-keeper-2-land-on-gog/"><em>Wing Commander 1 + 2</em></a> are also available on GOG as a bundle for $6. Interested in being the master of a whole world -- or being a <em>total slave</em> to the rules of one? Two games newly added to GOG's DRM-free lineup will let you experience both. <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/populous"><em>Populous</em></a> lets you build a world and a civilization, and then ... you know, unleash natural disasters upon it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ultima_4"><em>Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar</em></a> puts you in the role of a hero who must save the land of Britannia while adhering strictly to eight virtues. Thrift isn't one of those virtues, but it's still something you can practice with this game, as GOG is giving it away for free! If you want to pay for some <em>Ultimas</em>, the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ultima_1_2_3">first three</a> are also up.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/populous-and-ultima-iv-hit-gog-and-ultimas-free/">Populous and Ultima IV hit GOG -- and Ultima's free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Sep 2011 22:00:00 EST. If you're looking to pass a quiet weekend clicking your way through some puzzles, look no further than Good Old Games. The DRM-free retailer has put its whole selection of Cyan games on sale for half off this weekend. That includes <em>Myst 1</em> and <em>2</em>, the <em>RealMyst</em> remake, and the pre-Myst children's adventure game<em> The Manhole</em> for $2.99 each, and <em>Uru</em> for $4.99.<br />
<br />
If you want the whole package, and several lost weekends, you can get it all for $16.95. The offer ends Monday at 11:59 PM EDT, so ... buy the games you want before then, unless you want to pay more for your island getaway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/you-havent-myst-this-great-deal-on-cyan-games/">You haven't Myst this great deal on Cyan games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Aug 2011 17:30:00 EST. Good Old Games has <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/the_great_ea_classics_are_back">announced</a> some new (old) additions to its Electronic Arts library today. First, the service is rounding out the <em>Dungeon Keeper</em> series with <em>Dungeon Keeper 2</em>. The second addition perhaps deserves a bit more fanfare, as classic series (and occasional <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/29/with-a-q-the-joystiq-game-show-001-sonic-bonanza/">quiz show fodder</a>) <em>Wing Commander</em> makes its way onto GOG.<br />
<br />
GOG is bundling both <em>Wing Commander</em> and <em>Wing Commander 2: Vengeance of the Kilrathi</em>. In other words, you won't be able to get your Mark Hamill fix ... yet. GOG promises six more EA titles are "coming soon."<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/wing_commander_1_2"><em>Wing Commander 1+2</em></a> bundle and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeon_keeper_2"><em>Dungeon Keeper 2</em></a> are available now for $5.99 apiece.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/wing-commander-and-dungeon-keeper-2-land-on-gog/">Wing Commander and Dungeon Keeper 2 land on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 10:30:00 EST. DRM-free digital distribution platform GoG has given us another reason to get excited about Gamescom -- a reason that doesn't include the near-constant stream of tasty German beers. For the rest of the week, CD Projekt's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</em></a> has been marked down to $29.99 on the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2/">GoG storefront</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/the-witcher-2-marked-down-to-30-on-gog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Witcher 2 marked down to $30 on GoG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/the-witcher-2-marked-down-to-30-on-gog/">The Witcher 2 marked down to $30 on GoG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Aug 2011 12:00:00 EST. Do you prefer the text-based, imagination-requiring <em>Zorks</em> of yore, or the slightly more recent (but still wicked old) adventure game <em>Zorks</em>? Guess what: It doesn't matter! You're buying all of them, because the entire <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ZORK"><em>Zork</em></a> franchise is 40 percent off today on the GOG storefront.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/12/all-of-the-zorks-down-40-percent-on-gog-this-weekend/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>All of the Zorks down 40 percent on GOG this weekend</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/12/all-of-the-zorks-down-40-percent-on-gog-this-weekend/">All of the Zorks down 40 percent on GOG this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Aug 2011 16:00:00 EST. GOG is pointing a double-barreled crossbow of delight at us, with a deep discount on <em>The Longest Journey</em> and the addition of <span class="vdark_un"><em>Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath</em>. Departing from the regular <em>Oddworld</em> expectations, <em>Stranger's Wrath</em> is a hybrid of third-person action and first-person shooter, seasoned with elements of the Spaghetti Western and Oddworld touches like the "live" critter ammo. The game is available now on GOG for $9.99.<br />
<br />
If you'd prefer a sweeping adventure, <em>The Longest Journey</em> is on sale for $3.99. Much like <em>The Neverending Story</em>, we can't vouch for the accuracy of game's title, but it does involve a <em>very long journey</em>, so you'll definitely get your money's worth in this classic point-and-click adventure.</span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/19/gog-adds-strangers-wrath-discounts-the-longest-journey/">GOG adds Stranger's Wrath, discounts The Longest Journey</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 11:30:00 EST. As a contrast to the disappointing recent news about an EA game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/15/crysis-2-ditching-steam-not-an-ea-decision-origin-exclusive-tit/">disappearing</a> from an online store, here's a story about one being added. The last of the six <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/ea-games-now-on-gog-starting-with-privateer-dungeon-keeper-an/">EA games</a> announced for addition to Good Old Games is now available: Bullfrog's 1994 first-person upholstery flight game<em> Magic Carpet</em>. The others include <em><a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/wing_commander_privateer">Wing Commander: Privateer</a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeon_keeper">Dungeon Keeper</a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ultima_underworld_1_2">Ultima Underworld 1+2</a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/crusader_no_remorse">Crusader: No Remorse</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sid_meiers_alpha_centauri"><em>Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri</em></a>. More unannounced EA games are expected, for a total of "more than 25."<br />

Just minutes after Guillame Rambourg, managing director of GOG.com, made the announcement that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/ea-games-now-on-gog-starting-with-privateer-dungeon-keeper-an/">the digital game sales platform would carry much of EA's classic back catalogue</a>, Joystiq pulled him aside on the roof of a hotel in downtown Venice, CA to chat about the announcement.<br />
<br />
First up, we talked about GOG's other efforts lately, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/07/gog-updates-site-gives-away-1994s-dragonsphere/">releasing a dedicated downloader </a>client for Windows, and a private messaging system. Rambourg says both have been going gangbusters. "The downloader is definitely the favorite way of getting games from GOG," he told us. "We've had up to 20 million API calls since we launched the downloader, and the peak was 2 million calls in an hour." The downloader isn't required to use the service, and Rambourg said since it doesn't support Mac or Linux users, it probably won't be for a long time, if ever.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/gog-com-we-are-totally-not-interested-in-being-bought-by-anybo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG.com: 'We are totally not interested in being bought by anybody'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/gog-com-we-are-totally-not-interested-in-being-bought-by-anybo/">GOG.com: 'We are totally not interested in being bought by anybody'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Jun 2011 17:00:00 EST. During CD Projekt's ongoing <a href="http://www.ustream.tv/channel/cdp-summer-days">streaming press conference</a>, the publisher revealed that Electronic Arts is going to join the roster of companies opening up their vintage catalogues to the DRM-free retro store <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gog">Good Old Games</a>.<br />
<br />
The first announced games include <em>Wing Commander Privateer, Dungeon Keeper</em>, and pioneering first-person RPGs <em>Ultima Underworld 1 and 2</em>. And those three are available right now for $5.99 each! Three more EA classics" are coming before the end of June, and then "over 20" more games from the publisher are coming this summer.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, <em>System Shock</em> and <em>Syndicate</em> aren't part of the agreement right now, due to rights issues. But, a GOG spokesman said, "never say never."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/ea-games-now-on-gog-starting-with-privateer-dungeon-keeper-an/">EA games now on GOG, starting with Privateer, Dungeon Keeper, and Ultima Underworld</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Jun 2011 15:50:00 EST. Describing the opening moments of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</em></a> as a "trial by fire" is almost too trite to bear, but don't tell me it isn't accurate. As the dragon swoops overhead and incinerates you yet again, you'll understand that the game's method of delivering a tutorial, which is to whisper it to you in passing, has failed.<br />
<br />
Your repeated, humiliating immolation isn't even enough to summon a helpful tip. When one of the characters asks the witcher how one handles such a beast, he responds, "You don't. You run!"<br />
<br />
That's the advice from Geralt, professional monster hunter.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/the-witcher-2-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Witcher 2 review: Taught with peril</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/the-witcher-2-review/">The Witcher 2 review: Taught with peril</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 May 2011 09:45:00 EST. If you don't feel like buying a 3DS and a $40 cartridge to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/rayman-3d-is-an-adaptation-of-rayman-2/"><em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape</em></a> -- but you don't want to buy a <em>used</em> copy -- GOG provides another alternative. The DRM-averse online retailer has added the PC version of <em>Rayman 2</em> to its store, charging the customary $5.99. That's a <em>steal</em> for one of the greats of the 3D platforming genre, especially since GOG throws in a 91-track soundtrack download with the game.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rayman-forever-is-on-gog-now/"><em>Rayman Forever</em></a>, a version of the first 2D Rayman game with assorted extras, is also available on GOG.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/rayman-2-the-great-escape-captured-by-gog/">Rayman 2: The Great Escape captured by GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 14:00:00 EST. We've already gone over the purpose and proclivities of The Witcher: He hunts and exterminates beasts that don't belong in this world, imbibes body-altering mutagens, and perpetually responds to the world with a determined grimace. It's a pretty cool job.<br />
<br />
<em>Witcher</em> watchers are likely aware that the grizzled warrior-monk, Geralt of Rivia, is set to return tomorrow in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</em></a>. We've got three copies to give away, courtesy of <a href="http://gog.com">GOG</a>. The game is already available for pre-purchase on the retro service, and while it's not exactly fitting with those <em>old</em> PC games, it does come without DRM. (Copies bought elsewhere will require a one-time online activation via Securom.)<br />
<br />
We're also giving away ten GOG download codes for <em>The Witcher: Enhanced Edition</em>, the revamped RPG that kicked off Geralt's gareer -- uh, <em>career</em>. Read the instructions below the break, leave a comment, and you're in.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/joyswag-the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings-the-witcher-enhance/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joyswag: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition codes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/joyswag-the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings-the-witcher-enhance/">Joyswag: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition codes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 May 2011 16:30:00 EST. GOG's <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/promo/activision_rpgs">weekend sale</a> caters to those who appreciate substantial, fantastic <em>heft</em> -- enough to sustain a novelization or two. The download service is offering a 30 percent discount on four Activision-published RPGs, including <em>Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura </em>(pictured) at $4.19, and the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_E._Feist">Feist</a>-fueled <em>Betrayal at Krondor Pack</em>, which includes an <em>additional betrayal</em> in Antara for $4.19.<br />
<br />
The same discounted price also applies to <em>Return to Krondor</em>, a divisive sequel that spent years in tumultuous development, and <em>Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption</em>, Nihilistic Software's flawed take on the pen-and-paper RPG of the same name.<br />
<br />
The connection between <em>Arcanum</em> and <em>Vampire</em>? <em>Arcanum</em>'s now-defunct developer Troika went on to finish <em>Vampire: The Masquerade</em> - <em>Bloodlines </em>in 2004, notably becoming one of the first developers to utilize Valve's Source engine. (Unfortunately, the vampires weren't nearly as draining as the bugs.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/14/gog-sale-krondorian-betrayals-masquerades-steamworks-and-magi/">GOG sale: Krondorian betrayals, masquerades, steamworks and magick obscura</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 14 May 2011 15:00:00 EST.
