The importance of nerdom in public society has increased exponentially in the past decade, with the video game industry now producing over $25 billion in annual revenue alone. Ask any random group of cosplayers at San Diego Comic-Con what the above completely customized, electronic Halo MJOLNIR Assault Armor suit is worth, and they'd probably guess in the thousands. According to the experts at History Channel's Pawn Stars, they'd be wrong.

This Halo fan is hoping to score a humble $2,000 for his spectacular suit, but the Pawn Stars won't go a cent over $200, crushing his dreams and possibly losing him a girlfriend. We salute you, Halo Hero, for testing the waters in popular society for nerds everywhere. We'll be sure to keep our fetishes in convention halls and caves -- for now.
Selling custom Halo armor to the Pawn Stars is out of this guy's Reach originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 29 Jul 2011 16:30:00 EST. We're not a hard blog to please. Send us some screens and some video, perhaps a trailer that has a badass guitar solo screeching throughout, and you've won us over. That's exactly what's going on in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior multiplayer trailer above.

Sure, there's a whole bunch of sniping to check out but, man, those licks! We just hope that music doesn't play in-game, because we probably won't be able to kill anyone while we're busy headbanging with our leather bracelet and denim vest on.

Accompanying the finger-melting trailer after the break is a bounty of new screens, so if you like your action a bit more still -- but just as violent -- hit up the gallery below.
First of all, no, there isn't a better title for an FPS than "Sniper: Ghost Warrior." That's just a fact. Second of all, the game's coming from the makers of such gaming classics as Chicken Riot and I Love Beauty: Hollywood Makeover, so we expect nothing but the best from the just-announced title. Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the first Xbox 360 venture from Poland-based devs City Interactive, an idea the company says was born out of some recent television programming.

"With all-new programming airing nationally on the History Channel and the Military Channel regarding the training of snipers and their missions, interest in the art of sniping has never been greater," VP of sales Lisa Rivera explains. The game is said to be centered around the assistance of rebels who are trying to overthrow "an aggressive and hostile military command" that has taken over the once-democratic (and fictional) nation of Isla Trueno. A handful of screens were released with the game's announcement this morning (which we've dropped into a gallery below), and if those tickle you pink then it'll interest you to know that the game's got a "Q2 2010" release window.
Sadly though, Ax Men isn't about assassins running around New York City on a mission to kill, it's about the people involved in the logging industry. A very dangerous industry. The free downloads are available to U.S. Live subscribers and rate pretty low on the coolness scale. But they're free and we've never, ever been against free goodies. Ax Men premieres March 9th on The History Channel, Ax Men downloads premiere on the XBLM right now. Please be careful when downloading.
Free Ax Men gamer pic and theme downloads originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 28 Feb 2008 16:15:00 EST. When it's late at night and we're ready to relax in our beds, we usually watch The History Channel or police chase videos. By the time we go to bed, that's usually the only thing that's on aside from infomercials. It's a tough break, but we're not complaining.

So, we were immediately interested in this new line of games from The History Channel and Slitherine Strategies. The first game, which is The History Channel Pocket History: Rome, tasks the player with taking over the Roman Empire. Not only must they build and extend the Empire's cities, they must also manage the economy and govern the population.

This first title is scheduled to release in April 2008, with subsequent sequels to follow in that year.

[Via DS-x2]
History Channel aims at schooling you on ancient civilizations originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 23:38:00 EST.
