Now you'll be able to turn those watch parties into Rock Band parties, as you play along to two songs featured in the show.

G4 reports that, in the near future, the Rock Band Network will play host to both "You All Everybody," the hit song from Charlie Pace's band Drive Shaft, and "Dharma Lady," by '70s band and frequent hidden reference Geronimo Jackson. The Rock Band Network status means it'll be released on Xbox 360 first, and then possibly brought to Wii and PS3 later.

It's probably a bad idea to use this music to try to introduce someone to the show. These songs are hilarious as in-jokes, but on their own, they're ... well, still hilarious, but not in a good way.
Operation Commander Cullen Gray has been through a lot. In his 36 years, he's seen military action the world over, been field-trained with various Special Operations units, worked with NATO and now he's about to star in a popular war-based video game franchise. SOCOM 4 has the fictional Cullen Gray acting as an addled operation commander who "will pursue success at all costs."

The EU PlayStation blog has a rundown of Gray's entire dossier and a handful of new images (seen in the gallery below). And if you're wondering who it is that he resembles while you're browsing the images, it's obviously Lost's Matthew Fox. WE HAVE TO GO BACK, CULLEN!
We've all got our own dream projects we'd like adventure game studio Telltale to make, heaven knows we've fanned those flames ourselves. But as for the most requested project, you need look no further than your nerdy friend's Tuesday night Twitter feed, according to company boss Dan Connors.

"You know it's funny, because I have a survey with the actual requests on it, or the actual things that people that we surveyed said they would like to see," Connors told us in an interview you'll see in full soon. "If I can recall correctly I think Lost was number one. I think that Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was number two ... or maybe number three. And I know that Dexter was in there somewhere. And of course the LucasArts stuff was in there as well."

Lost as adventure game makes perfect sense, especially since The Island is one of the few places where making a mustache out of cat hair, masking tape and syrup makes perfect sense.
TV's Lost is most requested Telltale adventure game project originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 15 Apr 2010 19:45:00 EST.
Lots of the celebrities at last night's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 celebrity benefit tournament didn't know much about gaming, but Greg Grunberg is the exception. Even if he can't dive deep into the differences between next-gen shooters, he at least knows the audience, having appeared on Lost and Alias and controlled minds as Matt Parkman on Heroes. He was at the benefit in West Hollywood promoting the Epilepsy Foundation (his son deals with epileptic seizures, and Grunberg has done some advocacy work on his own as well), and right before he sat down to play BFBC2 alongside Chad Ochocinco and Marshall Faulk, he sat down to chat with us.

Read on to hear about what Grunny is doing for Halo: Reach, his favorite iPhone games and why he's so sure there should be one more full season of Heroes.

Continue reading Interview: Greg Grunberg at the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 celebrity challenge

Interview: Greg Grunberg at the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 celebrity challenge originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 19 Feb 2010 18:00:00 EST. Comedy Central is promoting the return of two of its most popular original titles on PlayStation Network. Rush to the PlayStation Store to get free downloadable episodes for your PS3 or PSP: the first episode of Important Things with Demetri Martin and episode seven of The Sarah Silverman Program's second season, "High, It's Sarah." If you're having trouble finding these programs, look for the "Free TV" section of the PlayStation Store.

Other free TV offerings on the PlayStation Store include seven Lost "Season Catch-Ups" which futilely attempt to summarize the events of all the seasons of ABC's drama. The first episode of Bravo's Kell on Earth is also available for free.
Get a free episode of Demetri Martin, Sarah Silverman shows on PSN originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 10 Feb 2010 19:15:00 EST. Known for perfecting the episodic release, Telltale Games says it's stepping into "new genres." CEO Dan Connors told VG247 as much in a recent phone interview, and the idea for this move is coming from a somewhat expected place -- television shows like The Sopranos, Lost and True Blood. "We've already evolved the genre in a lot of ways ... but we believe there's a lot of head-room to make more dramatic advances in storytelling and drama inside of this genre [adventure games]." Considering the company's past work with franchises like CSI though, you could say this tale has already been told. (YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!)

Though Telltale will be at PAX alongside us and everyone we know, don't expect any announcements just yet. Connors says the soonest we'll be hearing about anything is "around October," so, ya know, get comfy.
Telltale's next franchise announcements 'around October,' not necessarily comedies originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 03 Sep 2009 22:15:00 EST.
Donkey Punch (PSN: $5.99 HD and $3.99 SD to rent, $19.99 HD and $14.99 SD to own): Despite the title, Donkey Punch isn't a zany college comedy. It's a taut thriller that takes place in the confines of a luxury yacht at sea, and the titular term plays a big part in making everything unravel. It was shot for less than a million dollars in three weeks, yet still manages to look like a slick Hollywood film. Great soundtrack, terrific performances from a cast of unknowns, and you've got the perfect summer accompaniment. This will make you think twice (or even a third time!) before getting on a boat with a stranger.

Unfortunately, this is the last episode of the PS Nation we'll be linking to on PS3 Fanboy. You'll see podcast links in a new weekly link round-up which we'll start next week. Update: The PS Nation crew is still producing podcasts. You won't see separate posts for each episode like usual. Instead, we'll introduce a new PlayStation.blog-esque link post every weekend.

Please support the podcast! Indeed, the DS's big brother gets a lot of flak for hosting PS2 ports with tacked-on waggle. Yet, if the original game is good and a reasonable amount of bonus content is added, we generally give the game a pass.

But things get even trickier when discussing the retro-port. I touched on this at the end of the Petz Dogz Fashion post, but it's worth restating: would you pay full retail price for an exact copy of your favorite retro game? As the Super Mario Advance series proved: yes, you will. Apparently, identical or near-identical copies of older games at standard market prices can still sell extremely well. It'll be interesting to see how successful the Chrono Trigger port will be (my prediction: very). It'd be especially nice if we could determine how many of those purchasing the game have never played it before (my second prediction: not very many). Information such as this would allow us to determine what effect -- if any -- retro-ports have on the current state of gaming.

Examining Myst for the DS has been on my queue for quite some time. The reason for the delay was simply because I was unsure if it was fair to put it under the spotlight since I never played the original. But upon deliberating the sentiments above, I realized the DS port of the 1993 graphic adventure would be the perfect opportunity to put the question to a litmus test.

Continue reading Bury the Shovelware: Myst

Bury the Shovelware: Myst originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 10 Sep 2008 13:00:00 EST.
When we think about games based off movies and television shows, we tend to believe that they're going to turn out bad. It's not unusual to think this way because more often than not these games really do turn out to be a disappointment; however, we had high hopes for Lost: Via Domus as it was a videogame adaptation of television's most brilliantly engaging show. With Lost TV series writer and producer, Damon Lindelof, guest-supervising the content and themes for the game, we thought Lost: Via Domus was going to be a sure-fired hit. Regrettably, that line of thinking couldn't be any more farther from the truth.

As a game, Lost: Via Domus has nothing unique to offer. It's a below average effort, and feels like a watered-down Uncharted clone with puzzles -- minus all the action. Even so, this game wasn't meant for the hardcore gamers, it was meant for Lost fans; in this regard, it only gets worse as the game fails to perform its duty. At first, it felt exciting to be inside the world of Lost; however, by game's end, we realized just how much potential was "lost" in translation from television to videogame that we'd recommend fans just stick to their show.
Continue reading PS3 Fanboy review: Lost: Via Domus

PS3 Fanboy review: Lost: Via Domus originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 15:30:00 EST. Not a bad release list for February. PS3 owners the world over finally get to see what all the fuss is about with Capcom's Lost Planet (spoiler: not a lot) and the Lost game also hits shelves. Having seen very little of the title, we're intrigued to see what it's like. Cautiously intrigued, but intrigued nonetheless. Here's the full release list:

US Games

Europe keeps attempting to play catch-up this week with Blacksite: Area 51, another UE3 game that America received during the gameflood of last year. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to confirm them before making any rash decisions. Like stepping out the front door.

Your PS3 is region free, don't forget, so don't be afraid to import any of the above titles. Though if we spot you importing Lost from any other country then we'll be forced to give you a clip around the ear for being so stupid. You have been warned.
Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of February 24th originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 24 Feb 2008 10:00:00 EST. The game looks gorgeous, and seems to be very faithful to the show, apart from a few characters who are not voiced by the actors who played them in the show -- the most jarring of these being John Locke, who sounds like a slightly bewildered Steven Seagal throughout this trailer.

Of course, every good Lost fan knows to look out for branded sharks and hidden messages -- which this one-and-a-half minute trailer has plenty of. We watched it and we have no idea what's going on. Sure, the basic premise is easy enough to grasp. People crash land on a deserted island and have to survive. That's easy enough. There's this guy that appears to be the main character. There's some kind of shady conspiracy thing heppening too. Oh, and the lead character gets punched or otherwise beaten a lot. So far, that's about all we can understand. We may just have to catch up on the series now that it's on Xbox Live Marketplace because, honestly, we'd hate to admit we were having trouble following the plot in a video game.
Lost: Via Domus trailer: um, what? originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 01 Feb 2008 17:15:00 EST. Each confusing as all hell episode will set purchasers back 160 Microsoft points for SD and 240 points for the HD flavor. We've also been told that episodes of the fourth season of LOST will hit the XBVM within' 24 hours of their airing (just as we've come to expect), so keep an eye out for new episodes to be downloadable starting tomorrow. Just in case you - the loner, who refused to get "caught up" in Lost hysteria - feel left out while everyone (everyone who still cares that is) watches the season opener of the popular cliffhanger-fest, Microsoft has announced that their deal with ABC Television and MGM (first announced at CES) is finally coming to fruition. Part of that deal is ... wait for it ... high-def Lost episodes on Xbox Live Video Marketplace. You can nab the first three seasons now - at 160MS points for SD, 240 for HD ($2 and $3 respectively) - or get the first episode of season four tomorrow (or at abc.com for free if you prefer).

Other ABC shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives are being added, along with Disney Channel programming like Hannah Montana (you know, for kids). Those MGM movies are being added beginning February 18th, including the complete Rocky series, some James Bond pics, and Mr. Brooks. Most notable, perhaps, is this month's addition of King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, the well received documentary about two arcade champs.
Lost on Xbox Live Marketplace now, King of Kong coming in Feb. originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 31 Jan 2008 23:23:00 EST. We're not going to beat around the bush, but getting one of the best shows on TV in high-definition for $40 isn't something to snub your nose at. Seriously -- if you can deny buying a show you enjoy (assuming you enjoy it) at a 59% discount, you've definitely got some penny-pinching issues to iron out. Whether it's a mistype on Amazon's part or simply an amazing deal, take advantage while you can!

[Via Slickdeals.net]
Deal of the Day: Lost Season 3 on Blu-ray for $40 originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 29 Jan 2008 12:30:00 EST. Amazon recently took down these negative reviews -- a shame, as we're sure they'd provide more entertainment than the actual book ever could.

Lawrence has since apologized in a New York Times article, claiming she was misinformed about the game, and that she's "seen episodes of 'Lost' that are more sexually explicit." Nice work, Lawrence.
Who doesn't love Lost? Well, after season 2, a lot of people turned away from the show. Season 3, after about the midway point, really picked up some steam and began to draw back some of the love felt in the first season of the show. Why does that matter? The Lost video game, Lost: Via Domus, takes place across the first three seasons of the show. This trailer shows basically what you've seen time and again in the show, reproduced in rather unfortunate quality. We're not hating -- for fans of the show this will probably prove a worthwhile rent, but for those expecting to get floored, you should look elsewhere. This is a TV show game, after all.

Lost: Via Domus gameplay trailer lacks ... music? originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 08:00:00 EST. There's something eerily familiar about watching this gameplay footage for Lost: Via Domus. Maybe it's Charlie running past your character on the plane, the subsequent crash, the tail that almost crushes Hurley. From the good digitization of Ben to the bad digitization of bearded Mr Friendly, the video brings about a good sense of déjà vu.

It even shows all the essential gameplay needed for a game about Lost -- talking, running and typing numbers! Oh yeah, there's also photography and holding a gun menacingly, but really ... it's all about the numbers. Video, with requisite flashback (or is it flash-forward?), after the break.

Continue reading Today's most familiar video: LOST gameplay footage

Today's most familiar video: LOST gameplay footage originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 01:25:00 EST. TV's Lost piqued the interest of a lot of folk upon its initial airing a few years ago, even this blogger. But, as the series went on and things just got too ridiculous, this blogger found himself giving up on the whole thing. That doesn't mean the folks behind the show have done the same, however, as they plan to bring the property to gamers come the end of February.

Initially planned as a PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 title, hope for Wii gamers who want to follow the castaways comes in the form of Gadi Pollack, the game's producer. "It's very possible yes..." he stated, adding "we could do it in the near future." So, all of you Lostaholics out there might want to keep your fingers crossed on this one.
Producer says it's 'very possible' for the Lost game to hit Wii originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 23 Jan 2008 17:00:00 EST. Eight months to whip up conspiracy theories, play some alternate reality games, and go to "Lost" fan conventions in full Hurley cosplay regalia. Now that we're within two weeks of the season four premiere, MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo has the scoop on Ubisoft's Lost: Via Domus to slake the last bit of our eight month thirst for tropical island mysteries.

We already knew you were going to be playing as a new character to the series, an amnesiatic photojournalist named <strike>Frank West</strike> Elliott. However, we weren't quite sure of the level of interactivity you would have with the show's plotline and characters (many of whom are voiced by the actors who play them on the show). After Totilo's brief time with the game, he assures his readers that there will be many opportunities to view actual events from the show from a different angle, like the initial plane crash, or the untimely detonation of Arzt (we hope).

If being chased around an island by sentient clouds of smoke is your idea of a good time, Lost: Via Domus drops on Feb. 26 for the PC, PS3, and 360. If not, be patient. We're sure they'll make a video game adaptation of "Sex and the City" soon enough.

MTV's Stephen Totilo sits down with Lost: Via Domus originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 20 Jan 2008 12:00:00 EST. At CES today, Microsoft announced an expansion of its Xbox Live video offerings. ABC Television and MGM will both offer HD videos on the Marketplace. Coincidentally, these studios are exclusively aligned to Blu-ray. This agreement gives Xbox owners a chance to experience this content in HD as well.

ABC Television Network, ABC Family, ABC News, Disney Channel and Toon Disney are all part of this new offering. More than 500 hours of content, in both standard definition and high definition, will be offered including ABC Television shows Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. Past and current shows will be offered, as will archived ABC News broadcasts.

MGM will offer a wide variety of movies, from the Rocky series to Dances with Wolves. Movies across all demographics will be available, including Terminator, Silence of the Lambs, Legally Blonde, Barbershop and Agent Cody Banks. Platoon, Rain Man and The Usual Suspects will also be available.

Price and an exact launch date of this newly announced content have yet to be revealed. HD DVD may have gotten a serious death blow this week, but it appears Microsoft's on-demand offerings should more than satiate the HD film appetite of the Xbox fan.
ABC Television and MGM brings HD content to Xbox Marketplace originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 06 Jan 2008 21:55:00 EST. Crashing down any hopes that G4 might turn itself around and work at producing quality video game and tech television, the network spent big money for the rights to air reruns of LOST. The series will begin airing in the fall of 2008, joining other nails in the former tech and video game station's coffin like COPS and Star Trek.

Sci-Fi also picked up the rights to LOST, but at least that makes sense, because we all know the castaways are actually encapsulated in a glass bubble floating through space. G4 plans to redo LOST like they did Star Trek by creating "LOST 2.0," which will offer interactive elements and display factoids during the broadcast. G4 and Sci-Fi allegedly paid $200,000 per episode for the series -- although Sci-Fi footed most of the bill. Although it's sad to see G4 continue down this path toward becoming the poor man's Spike TV, at least we've got GameTrailers making good video game retrospectives. It could also be worse, G4 could still be doing that whole The Whip Set thing. Don't remember what that was? Check out the trailer after the break.
Continue reading G4 gets LOST, network execs miss obvious joke

G4 gets LOST, network execs miss obvious joke originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 02:31:00 EST. A couple months age, there were murmurs that ABC's hit show, Lost, would be making it's debut on Blu-ray with the release of the third season of the show. Shortly after the rumors hit the interwebs, Disney stomped out our hopes and denied that such a thing was happening. Luckily, this is one of those times where the corporation lied just to hide the good news for a bit longer. Disney has officially announced that the third season of Lost will be released on Blu-ray at the same time as the DVD release on December 11th.

Specs are pretty nice, with the expected 1080p transfer (up from the ABC HD broadcast of 720p) and feature full uncompressed 5.1 sound. The 6 disc set also will feature a variety of extras, which is a nice change from the normal dearth of bonus content found on Blu-ray releases. They are including actor/writer commentary on some episodes, deleted scenes, bloopers, and five making-of Lost featurettes.

The release is grandiosely titled, Lost: Season 3 -- The Unexplored Experience and will retail for $124.99. Even though the price is a bit steep, it sounds like a great collection and you can pretty much be guaranteed for Amazon to sell it for $90-$100 when it comes out. Now if Showtime only release Dexter on Blu-ray as well ...
Lost Season 3 officially confirmed on Blu-ray originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 03 Aug 2007 00:00:00 EST. To flesh out the Lost world, they had a famous author write The Bad Twin, a book supposedly written by one of the people who died in the initial plane crash on the island. Then they also created a massive Alternate Reality Game that went on for months and involved everything from hidden images in major publications to phone calls in the dead of night on your cell phone. They've even had members of the Lost mythos appear (in character) on Jimmy Kimmel Live, not to mention the plethora of websites they've created to backup the story on the show. In fact the only thing they haven't dabbled in is videogames ...

Now, it's been known for a bit that a Lost videogame is coming out, but with no details of any kind, it was hard to tell what to expect. Well wonder no more, as GameTrailers has the first official trailer of the Lost videogame. The game will be released in 2008, just before the start of Season 4 and is said to be directly tied to the Lost mythos, so it's not going to be some random non-canon storyline. The trailer shows off a new hatch, plenty of familiar characters and some pretty hot graphics. Think Myst crossed with Uncharted and you'll get the picture. So check out the trailer up above and let us know what you think, can they pull off a decent Lost game or is this going to be another cheesy cash-in.
First look at the Lost videogame originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 22:00:00 EST. Ubisoft announced today that their video game adaptation of ABC's island mystery Lost will be coming out in the first quarter 2008 to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A trailer is expected to be shown today at Comic-Con between 5pm and 6pm PT (8pm to 9pm ET).

While not divulging much about the trailer, Ubisoft gave a hint to the story of the game. You play as one of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. According to the description provided by IGN, "you'll have to try and unravel the mysteries of the island while dealing with unsettled business in your past." Ubisoft said that you will also interact with familiar characters and battle Ol' Smokey.

If we're playing an unknown character from the original crash, we're kind of worried about how the game will progress in relation to the show -- will we be limited to what we can do so as to not upset the current storyline, or will this serve as an alternate timeline separate from the show? One only needs to mention "Nikki and Paulo" to a Lost fan to know that adding survivors post-crash is a recipe for ire.

Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have reportedly worked with Ubisoft to devise the game's storyline. Said the two, "Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show." Hopefully we'll have a better idea after the trailer tonight.

[Update - The trailer has been embedded behind the break.
The best sort of Miis seem to be made from those people who already look like walking caricatures -- the kind of people who have such distinctive features that you could guess their identity from seeing only their left eye, perhaps, or their signature grin. So it follows, of course, that iconic characters also tend to make for good Mii material, though not always, as we here at the Fanboy learned ourselves to our great chagrin ....
Continue reading Mii Spotlight: Pop culture goes Mii

Mii Spotlight: Pop culture goes Mii originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 02 Jun 2007 19:00:00 EST. Recently Sony Pictures Home Entertainment unveiled their late summer lineup, with Arlington Road and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within both set for release on August 7th. The feature list for Arlington Road looks pretty light, but Final Fantasy is getting the full treatment, with additional featurettes, an interactive documentary, deleted footage and even joke outtakes. Then on December 11th, Lost: The Complete Third Season will mark its debut on both standard DVD and Blu-ray with again, more goodies than typical Blu-ray fare has provided so far. It's good to finally see movie studios show their strong Blu-ray support by supplying meatier Blu-ray supplemental features. Are there any unannounced titles you are heavily anticipating for Blu-ray release?

[Update: Disney Home Entertainment has officially come out to say that Badder Santa and Lost: The Complete Third Season are "not planned for high-def (Blu-ray) release." Also important to note, they reaffirmed their Blu-ray exclusivity and have "no plans" to support HD-DVD anytime soon. Removed Lost from the post title.]

[Thanks Mark & frambrosis]
Final Fantasy gets a Blu-ray treatment [Update] originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 31 May 2007 15:00:00 EST. The most recent show to capitalize on the trend is ABC's Lost, a show about several people on an island that are ... um ... lost. It was revealed in a recent episode of official Lost podcast that the Ubisoft developed game will be available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC. Many readers will be quick to notice that the PS2 is missing from that list, which hopefully means we'll be seeing a quality new gen experience and not just a PS2 port. Finally, one of the television series' producers, Carlton Cuse, noted that the game looks "very impressive." We have to agree with our compatriots at Joystiq that a TV producer may not be the best judge of what makes a quality game, but we have our fingers crossed that Ubisoft will deliver.

Since we're on the topic of TV based games, may we suggest a game based on the new FOX series, Drive? Cross-country racing with murder, mystery, and intrigue? Yes, please.

[Via Joystiq]

Update: Corrected Mr. Cuse's name.
Get Lost! Is this an indication that the PlayStation 2's time is coming to an end, or is developer Ubisoft Montreal focusing more time and effort on delivering a title whose graphics are on par with our expectations for the newest generation of console?

Said Cuse approximately 25 minutes into the podcast, "[Developer Ubisoft Montreal] came down here the other day and did a demo on some of the stuff," while Lindelof remarked, "very impressive," in response to what they were shown. We don't want to imply that television producers know what makes great games, but as fans of the show, we are comforted that progress is being made on the title. No release date has been mentioned.

A mobile game based on LOST is currently available, which you can demo here.

[Via Lost Spoilers; Update: fixed typo in name.]
LOST video game confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 17 Apr 2007 15:50:00 EST. Thanks to eric c for the correction!]

Before the episodic Sam & Max games, Telltale Games were known among adventure game holdouts for their adaptations of Jeff Smith's Bone comic series. They followed a similar business model: periodic, bite-sized chunks of delicious puzzle solving, set in cult comic book trappings.

Now publisher Xider is bringing the Bone games to the <strike>DS</strike> PC and unidentified games to the DS in Europe in 2007. We hope that they decide to bring them stateside as well, and that they don't decide to shoehorn weird touch screen/microphone puzzles into what is supposed to be a pretty good adventure series. It's still possible, but the identities of the DS games have yet to be announced.

We're so proud of our little DS, bringing back two of our favorite long-lost game genres: the graphical text adventure and the 3D adventure game.
Bone: DS adventure renaissance continues [update 1] originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 27 Feb 2007 14:30:00 EST. And then it crashed. Hard. As it trudged along through the years, essentially dead but for rare gems like The Longest Journey, it slowly faded from the minds of modern gamers.

The point-and-click capabilities of the DS have certainly given the once-zombified genre a much-needed jolt. We've seen excellent offerings, including the superlative Phoenix Wright series, the soon-to-be-released Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Trace Memory, Lost in Blue, and a few others (let's not even mention the ScummVM homebrew project). But the DS gives these games something they could have never had in the nineties: absolute portability. It's almost as though these games compete directly with the classic novel, something which has never really been seen even amongst the myriad of gadgets anyone can go out and readily purchase.

Our question is this: how does a DS adventure game compare to that of a classic book? What would you rather whip out on the way to work? Phoenix Wright 2 has had our hearts and minds in a legal grip for days on end. You may not look as smart as those punks reading Vonnegut, but that's okay. You look cooler.
DS Daily: The new book? originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 23 Jan 2007 09:00:00 EST. Amongst the chaos and personal financial destruction of games like New Super Mario Bros, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Final Fantasy III, and Brain Age, it was quite easy to miss some of the gems hidden in the rough. Thus, CAG has made a list of games you might want to go back and visit as the holiday game rush ends (though not really ... Phoenix Wright 2 comes out this month and is certainly your first priority). What's the most surprising about them is the confirmation that the game will take place on a desert island. We totally didn't see that coming! Now, we never played the first game, so we have no frame of reference on whether to be excited or disappointed at the idea of a sequel, but that's why we have you, fine reader!

Continue past the jump to catch the screens and leave a comment telling us how you feel about a Lost in Blue sequel.
If you aren't one of the millions of people already hooked on the TV series, LOST ... where the hell have you been? Trying to find logic inside Sony madness, no doubt.

In honor of the Mii system, the cast of the series has been caricature-ified. Looks like no one will be safe from getting turned into a Mii. We wonder how many other famous people will get duplicated using this system. Maybe someone out there with too much time on their hands will create crazy celebrity couples like Brangelina or Bennifer or another silly made-up media term to keep the drones happy.

[Thanks aReEeNeN!]

Graphically, the game seems to be pretty impressive with nice textures and detailed characters that move very well. And to make it even better, loading was nearly non-existent. However, all good things come at a price, right? It seems Goshow had to cut some corners by limiting the draw distance by the ever-dreaded fog.

The biggest hurdle Goshow has, like any developer has in making a game of this ilk, is keeping the combat fresh and unrepetitive. If they can deliver, they may have a great game on their hands and one worthy of an import.

(Via IGN)
TGS 06: Lost Regnum impresses originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 23 Sep 2006 23:30:00 EST.
