In addition to the <em>Mega Man 9</em> and <em>10</em> DLC packs listed as discounted in this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/psn-tuesday-red-dead-redemption-discounts-far-cry-2/">PSN update</a>, you can also get ... <em>Mega Man 9</em> and <em>10</em>. And Mega Mans 1-3. Though they didn't show up on Sony's official list of updates, the entire Mega Man catalog on PS3 is on sale this week, half off.<br />
<br />
The PSOne Imports versions of <em>Mega Man 1, 2</em>, and <em>3</em> (based on the Japanese PlayStation re-releases) are now available for $2.99 each. <em>Mega Man 9</em> and 10 sell for $4.99 each this week, with DLC bundles an extra $2.99. Given Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/capcom-europe-mega-man-legends-3-canceled-due-to-lack-of-devroo/">recent attitude</a> toward Mega Man, we'd love to see what happened if these discounts led to a massive sales boost.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/mega-man-1-2-3-9-and-10-on-sale-on-psn/">Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 9, and 10 on sale on PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Aug 2011 19:30:00 EST. Anxious to beef up your iOS device's game library? Capcom's slashed the price on eight of its games, offering each for $.99 this weekend only. Here's the list:
<ul>
    <li>Resident Evil 4 (previously $4.99)</li>
    <li>1942: First Strike (previously $1.99)</li>
    <li>Mega Man II (previously $2.99)</li>
    <li>Dark Void Zero (previously $2.99)</li>
    <li>Cash Cab (previously $4.99)</li>
    <li>Cash Cab: Las Vegas (previously $1.99)</li>
    <li>Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? 2010 (previously $1.99)</li>
    <li>Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2010 (previously $1.99)</li>
</ul>
If we had to suggest one, we'd have to go with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/07/dark-void-zero-landing-on-iphone-and-pc-april-12/">Dark Void Zero</a></em>, but if you're looking to <em>maximize the savings</em>, you can't go wrong with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-4"><em>Resident Evil 4</em></a>. Happy bargain hunting!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/24/select-capcom-ios-games-only-99-this-weekend/">Select Capcom iOS games only $.99 this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Sep 2010 06:00:00 EST. In honor of Comic-Con (for some reason), Capcom has temporarily marked down the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/phoenix-wright,@iphone">iPhone version</a> of <em>Phoenix Wright</em>, along with several other iPhone and even iPad games. We suggest you <em>take that! </em>... opportunity and pick up <em>Phoenix Wright</em> for just $2.99. <br />
<br />
Other highlights include the iPad and iPhone versions of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-4,@iphone">Resident Evil 4</a></em> for $2.99 each, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-4,@iphone">Street Fighter 4</a></em> for $6.99 and<em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dark-void-zero"> Dark Void Zero</a></em> for just .99. <em>Mega Man 2</em> is also just .99, if you want to hate your iPhone. See the full list of discounted games after the break. <br />
<br />
Capcom notes that <em>Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil Degeneration, Resident Evil 4</em> and <em>Phoenix Wright </em>will go back to regular price after July 25, but offers no expiration date for the other sales.<br />

But I can't ignore it. Today is the day that Mega Man makes his glorious return. Like a modern V-day, the blue bomber is coming home and completing his duty of pleasing the hardcore enthusiasts. With a rarely-seen level of excitement and anticipation being dispersed by the gaming community, we might as well have Mega Man slowly ride the streets through a ticker-tape parade seated on top of a convertible. I didn't want to stir the pot by declaring what the best <em>Mega Man</em> games are due to some sacred cows surrounding the topic. But ignoring honesty for the sake of peace and comfort would be committing a great disservice to us all. <br /><br /> We decided to take a look at the highlights of the <em>Mega Man</em> series. Any title in the expansive universe was acceptable. But let's be honest: there's only going to be games from the original and <em>X</em> series (as if <em>Mega Man Star Force</em> stood a chance). And with any luck, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9/">today's release</a> will find its way onto this list. <br /><br /> Here's a heads-up: you might not agree with these choices. I did my best to provide arguments of why every game belongs on this list and in the order that it does. In the interests of intelligent debate, please do the same in your rebuttals. <br /><br /> </div> <br /> <div align="center"> </div> <div class="buttontext"> <div align="center"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/22/5-mega-man-x4/" id="ninbutton">NEXT &gt;&gt; </a></div> </div> <style type="text/css"> #ninbutton { border-style: solid; border-color: #000; border-width: 2px; background-color: #BBB; color: #000; text-decoration: none; width: 100px; text-align: center; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px; margin: 2px 2px 2px 2px; } .buttontext { color: #000; text-decoration: none; font: bold 14pt Helvetica; } #ninbutton:hover { text-decoration: none; color: #BBB; background-color: #000; } </style> <center> </center><br /><br /> <div style="border-top: 1px solid; padding-top: 5px;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/top-five/"><img hspace="4" border="1" align="left" vspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/top5_thumbnail_kd_20080702.jpg" alt="" /></a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/top-five/">The Top 5</a> is a weekly feature that provides us with a forum to share our opinions on various aspects of the video game culture, and provides you with a forum to tell us how wrong we are. Whether it's strategy involving the 8 initial bosses and their stages, or the bickering between which weapon is the best, it's a game that many hold near and dear to their hearts. If you're a gamer in their 20-somethings, you likely remember this being one of the greatest games of your life. And, to celebrate the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/13/your-saturday-just-got-better-mega-man-9-songs/"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a>, it's released to the Virtual Console. If you can't download this amazing game for $5, or don't already own it, you're doing yourself a great disservice. Everyone should spend some time with this game at least one time in their life.<em><br /></em><em></em> <em> </em> <em> <br /> </em>

As suspected, today sees <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/12/strong-badia-the-screens/">the release of <em>SBCG4AP's </em>second episode</a>, <em>Strong Badia the Free</em>. One of them is a WiiWare game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/more-great-vc-news-mega-man-1-2-earthworm-jim-2-rated/">we know little about</a>, and the other is an old NES game about a robotic boy that likes the color blue. <span style="font-style: italic;">OMG what is it?!</span><br /><br />Head past the break and find out!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-september-15th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Retail and download releases for the week of September 15th</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-september-15th/">Retail and download releases for the week of September 15th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 08:58:00 EST. The only other game on the Virtual Console today: <em>Chase H.Q., </em>Taito's police pursuit racer.
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_rm2/index.html"><em>Rockman 2</em></a> (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)</li>

</ul>
The relatively light VC release schedule (for Japan) is ameliorated by the fact that one of the games is <em>Mega Man 2.</em> It's also bolstered rather significantly by the <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/wiiware/">WiiWare releases</a>, which include both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/alien-crush-new-screens-before-it-returns-to-japan/"><em>Alien Crush Returns</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/space-invaders-get-even-cheaper-more-nostalgic/">Space Invaders Get Even!</a>,</em> two games that <em>oh man we are seriously dying for.</em><br />

Strangely, the new rating is for the Wii and Genesis versions, while another rating is already on the site for the Genesis game. Now it's got <em>two</em> E ratings! The VC is jam-packed with memories from yesteryear, spilling over with wonderful software that defined our childhoods. But it isn't all lollipops and puppy dogs. Nostalgia can also be very misleading, and some of those packets of data you download from Nintendo's service can end up souring childhood memories.<br />
<br />
Personally speaking -- and this will probably sound like heresy in some quarters, so brace yourselves -- I was left disappointed by <em>Mega Man 2</em>, a game I adored as an eleven-year-old, but one that now seems slightly dated, with its repeated leaps of faith and enemies that like to spawn directly beneath you. On the other hand, a game such as <em>Super Mario Bros. 3</em> <em>still </em>feels like a breath of fresh air, almost two decades after it was released.<br />
<br />
Thinking about this some more, we have three questions for you. One: which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vctuesday/">Virtual Console</a> games don't hold the same magic for you as they once did? Two: have any titles aged better than you suspected they would? And three: have you ever held off from downloading a certain game, concerned that it may ruin one of those precious childhood memories?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/10/wii-warm-up-through-rose-tinted-glasses/">Wii Warm Up: Through rose-tinted glasses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. Up on the block this Friday is Neo Geo shoot-me-do <em>Top Hunter: Roddy &amp; Cathy</em>, a beautifully drawn SNK shooter that preceded genre classic <em>Metal Slug</em>.<br /><br /><em>Mega Man 2</em> from the NES will be the highlight for many of you, however, with 500 Wii points a terribly small price to pay for what is arguably the series' finest moment to date. Even without the completely rad boxart.<br />

That's because, while there are already <em>two</em> <em>Puyo </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/the-vc-advantage-puyo-permutations/">games</a> on the VC, <em>Puyo Puyo 2</em> is another of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Sega/">Sega</a>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/importshock-more-sega-imports-on-the-way/">promised imports</a>. <br /><br />As "awesome" as a third <em>Puyo Puyo </em>game is, the news is completely <em>obliterated</em> by the latest OFLC updates for Australia: <em><a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=11&amp;sDateToY=2007&amp;record=224502"><em>Blades of Steel</em></a><em> </em></em>and <em><a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=11&amp;sDateToY=2007&amp;record=224500">Mega Man 2</a>, </em>which probably hint at a European release as well.<em> </em>We don't even have <em>Mega Man </em>yet! This must be what it feels like for European and Australian gamers most of the time. Have fun playing <em>basically the best game ever,</em> jerks. We'll just ... oh, wait, we've got the NES cartridge, and also the <em>Mega Man Anniversary Collection.</em> We'll just play one of those while listening to <a href="http://www.digitalmonkeybox.com/okkusenman_revisited.htm">"Okkusenman"</a>.<a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=11&amp;sDateToY=2007&amp;record=224502"><em></em></a><em><a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=11&amp;sDateToY=2007&amp;record=224500"></a></em><a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/special.html?n=46&amp;p=156&amp;sMediaGames=1&amp;sDateFromM=1&amp;sDateFromY=1970&amp;sDateToM=11&amp;sDateToY=2007&amp;record=224500"><br /> </a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/australia-to-get-mega-man-2-u-s-to-get-not-mega-man-2/">Australia to get Mega Man 2, U.S. to get Not Mega Man 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Nov 2007 09:45:00 EST. You don't have to take our word for it! <span style="font-style: italic;">Dun-un, dun!</span><br /><br />As expected, their list isn't perfect -- if it were, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rivercityransom"><span style="font-style: italic;">River City Ransom</span></a> would occupy at least seven of the spots, leaving just enough room for <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Mario Bros. 3</span>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/megaman"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man 2</span></a>, and an emergency copy of <span style="font-style: italic;">River City Ransom</span>. But it would be naive to think that any collection of NES games with "Top <span style="font-style: italic;">anything</span>" written in proximity would satisfy everyone, unless, of course, it was a list of <span style="font-style: italic;">Top Gun</span> titles (all two of them). So feel free to comment with your own selection of "Absolutely Best NES Games Ever."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/somebodys-top-ten-nes-games/">Somebody's top ten NES games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 18:00:00 EST.
