SCEE Platinum line expands, includes Resistance 2, Killzone 2

The European budget line of "Platinum" titles has expanded quite significantly, adding four new titles for the low price of £19.99 / €29.99. The collection now includes Metal Gear Solid 4, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.

We're a bit jealous of our European friends, as games rarely get the "Greatest Hits" label so soon. Killzone 2, for example, released just a little over six months ago. However, it makes sense to drop the price of these games, especially Killzone 2, so soon -- there are a lot of new PS3 owners out there, hungry to try out the system's greatest games.

MotorStorm races Home

It may be nearly a year since the release of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, but that's not stopping Sony from creating a brand new Home Space for the franchise. MotorStorm content will be appearing "over the coming weeks," beginning with the ability to use Game Launching for Pacific Rift this Thursday. Through Game Launching, Home users can meet up, chat, and then instantly jump into a game of MotorStorm together. Neat, huh?

PlayStation Home has been getting support from a wide variety of games, from Katamari to Fight Night to Fat Princess. The addition of MotorStorm is another nice addition to Home's ever-diversifying lineup.

Future MotorStorm: Pacific Rift expansions promise more Speed and Adrenaline

MotorStorm fans can't seem to get enough content, judging from the constant stream of new DLC. It's either that or Evolution Studios is just not tired of giving fans more of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. Promising two new major content packs, Pacific Rift will expand with a slew of new tracks, new vehicles, Trophies and more. Check after the break for details on both the Speed and Adrenaline expansions.

New (and free) MotorStorm DLC hittin' the dirt on May 14

We really like Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. Promise! But you know what the vehicles could use is a little more variety in color -- nothin' better than seeing a beautiful car careening over a cliff. So you'll understand our excitement when we found out that a handful of new DLC packs will be hitting the PlayStation Network featuring a smattering of new paint jobs.

What's better? They're all free! Starting tomorrow and continuing for the following eight weeks -- one livery pack a week. Also included in tomorrow's DLC will be a patch clearing up a few bugs and accidents left in the game, as well as a new addition to online play in "microbadges." In so many words, a variety of icons will hover over each characters head, allowing you to show off your mad skillz to all your opponents (as seen in the screenshot above). Care to peep the new colors? Check out a video showing them off after the break!

MotorStorm Pacific Rift update now live

The first big MotorStorm Pacific Rift update patch is now live and available to download. Simply start the game up and the update will begin automatically. As announced, the patch fixes several bugs in the game, including save data corruption and a sneaky Boost exploit. The copy protection has been removed from save files, so you can now back up your saves, just in case they do get corrupted.

The latest PS Blog post also hints at another update coming soon, "which has some very cool new content in it, especially if you have a bit of a penchant for collecting cool stuff, or if you're the type of person who enjoys PS3 Trophies." Nothing more is said, but it sounds intriguing. Looking back on how much DLC the original MotorStorm received, we won't be surprised to see a few more tracks and/or modes heading our way.

Upcoming MotorStorm: Pacific Rift patch will fix saves, bugs

Though they're usually much better at smashing things, the folks at Evolution Studios now have to sit down quietly and fix a few things. A new game patch for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is oiled up and raring to hit the dirt soon, bringing with it a few new tweaks and fixes.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the forthcoming patch will significantly adjust the manner in which the game handles saved data, add a critical transfer notification and lift copy restrictions. Problems like the boost-exploit glitch, which grants players infinite boost, will also be done away with. You'll find the full annotations after the break.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift sells 1M, tackles bumpy charts

Who knew a racing game would sell? Sony did; that's why it made MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, which, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, has sold one million copies worldwide since it, well, stormed onto shelves in the US on October 28 and subsequently jumped across the pond on November 7.

The PS3 launch game's sequel has hit some bumps on UK sales charts, debuting in 29th place and slipping to 35th for the second week of November. Still, GI.biz says that developer Evolution Studios remains undeterred in its plans to introduce downloadable content for the game, in the form of new courses and cars/motorcycles/trucks/ATVs/scooters. (Okay, we made that last one up. Just keeping you sharp.)

MotorStorm Pacific Rift sells a million units worldwide

Some games have a rough ride. It's not easy being exclusive to a game console with a smaller install base than their competitors. It's even harder being released during those crazy Q4 months, when you're up against massive, highly anticipated titles. Thankfully, MotorStorm Pacific Rift has done well, despite these obstacles, already selling over one million units worldwide.

The game reached this milestone after just a month on the shelves. Pretty good, if you ask us. No doubt Pacific Rift owes much of its success to its predecessor. Hopefully more first party titles will reach this milestone, and beyond, before the end of the year. LittleBigPlanet, we're looking at you.

MotorStorm 2 humors Japanese gamers with strange new trailer

Something is just off about this new MotorStorm Pacific Rift trailer from Japan. It could be the language barrier, sure, but actions speak louder than words and what we're seeing here has us palm-in-face. What exactly does any of this have to do with racing vehicles on off-road turf? Something tells us they do not quite understand what the game's all about. Or, we're just not getting them.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of November 2nd

Something for everyone this week. Resistance 2 hits the US while LittleBigPlanet finally sees a European release. Valkyria Chronicles also makes its way to American soil. If you're after something wholly unique and a little bit special this week, that might be your best bet (though only SRPG fans need apply). Here's the full release list:

US Games EU Games
Asian Games
Don't forget that your PS3 is region free. If you see anything on this list that isn't available where you live go ahead and import. Keep in mind that DLC is locked to the game disc's region so if you buy a US game you'll need to get your DLC from the US PSN Store. Release dates are constantly subject to change. That's our way of saying "don't blame us if something gets delayed last minute."

Plenty of downloadable content to come for MotorStorm Pacific Rift

Did you know yesterday was launch day for MotorStorm Pacific Rift? In case you might've forgotten Nigel Kershaw, the game's director, put up a new post on the PlayStation Blog just to remind you. In doing so he also gives us some interesting information about upcoming downloadable content for the game. Once the development team have had a break they'll be back to work finishing off some DLC they've already got in the pipes.

"We've got a pile of stuff waiting in the wings, and, you'll be glad to know, a lot of it is free." Which we know will please a lot of people who were annoyed at having to pay to unlock content on MotorStorm 1's disc. It seems DLC will be appearing quite regularly, too, as the team is "going to try and give you something new to play with every week." There's also talk of some bigger expansions making their way to the Store by Christmas. MotorStorm 1 was very well supported post-release and its sequel looks to be no exception. We're intrigued to see what Evolution have in store for the game.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift to have weekly DLC

The first MotorStorm title was known to have a multitude of downloadable content (of course, some could argue it was needed -- at least for the Japanese release). Speaking to CVG, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Game Director Nigel Kershaw has revealed that weekly DLC is being planned. "We've got a pile of stuff waiting in the wings," he said, "and you'll be glad to know, a lot of it is free."

Kershaw said that "major packs" will be coming after Christmas. Previous MotorStorm DLC included new game modes, new tracks and new vehicles. Kudos to the developer for taking what we're affectionately calling the Rock Band model for support. No word on when we should expect the added content to start rolling out. Pacific Rift launched this week in North America.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 26th

Big smiles on both sides of the Atlantic this week. America gets three big games in the form of LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm PR and Fallout 3. Europe may not be getting their hands on LittleBigPlanet until next week, but at least they've got Fallout 3, Quantum of Solace and Valkyria Chronicles to tide them over which, from what we've seen, look to all be excellent titles. Here's the full release list:

US Games EU Games
Asian Games
Please keep in mind that release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to call ahead before leaving the house. Your PS3 is happy to play any of the above titles, regardless of where they originate from, so feel free to import anything you see up there. Remember, though, that any DLC has to be bought from the appropriate PSN store so if you pick up a US copy of LBP you'll need to download future DLC (and there's bound to be a lot) from the US store. Really, it's better just to wait a week.

Plow through MotorStorm Pacific Rift's 'Earth Zone' in this new video

Want a sneaky peek at some of MotorStorm Pacific Rift's tracks? This montage video shows what you can expect from the "Earth Zone" levels in the game. These make up only a quarter of the game's tracks, so no doubt we'll be seeing videos showcasing the Water, Fire and Air zones before the game releases on October 28th (November 14th in Europe). In the meantime, check out Kanaloa Bay, Mudslide, Sugar Rush and Razorback in the video above.

OMG at MotorStorm Pacific Rift commercial

Does it get any more EXTREME than this? A new PlayStation.blog post reveals the upcoming one minute ad for MotorStorm Pacific Rift -- and it involves people riding ATVs ... out of planes. The small text at the bottom warns you: "Do Not Attempt." We agree.

Another trailer, after the cut.
