Black Ops 2 'Nuketown 2025' playlist removed, outcry gets it added to new bonus playlist

Earlier today, Treyarch pulled the popular Nuketown 2025 24/7 playlist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 citing the dedicated rotation of modes on the map was temporary.

"Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. Right? Don't kill the messenger," Game Design Director David Vonderhaar wrote on Twitter. But an outcry of fans for the pre-order and Collector's Edition map - a re-imagining of the original Black Ops arena - have made Treyarch think twice.

Moments ago an update was sent to Black Ops 2 adding a new playlist, dubbed "Bonus." The mode within the playlist, "Chaos Moshpit," notes that selecting this playlist will rotate "small maps with a variety of game modes," including Nuketown 2025.

"Chaos Moshpit" also includes the maps Carrier, Cargo, Express, Hijacked, Slums, and Standoff, Vonderhaar tweeted.

So, get your Nuketown on, folks!

Update: A tweet from Treyarch confirms the playlist should go out to all versions of Black Ops 2. The PC version is planned for tomorrow.

Black Ops 2 'Nuketown Zombies' now in DLC Season Pass, out in December

Originally included as an incentive in the "Hardened," "Care Package" and "Digital Deluxe" versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the Nuketown Zombies map will now be included in the DLC Season Pass, too. Nuketown Zombies will debut to Season Pass holders some time in December.

The Nuketown Zombies map is a variant of the Nuketown 2025 multiplayer map available to all pre-orderers, an updated version of the fan-favorite Nuketown from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Black Ops 2 pre-order bonus includes double XP launch weekend

Black Ops 2 will have a double XP event during its launch weekend, from November 16 - 18, tied to pre-orders. We've known for a while that pre-orders will get the Nuketown 2025 bonus map - now it looks like downloading that map will give players free access to the double XP party.

Nuketown 2025, a reimagining of the original Black Ops map, and the double XP access is available in pre-orders from Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, Target, Toys 'R' Us and Walmart for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (including Steam).

Black Ops 2 takes pre-orderers back to Nuketown

Activision has confirmed the "Nuketown 2025" map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The "reimagined" version of the map from the first Black Ops will be given away at launch as a pre-order bonus from "participating retailers," Activision explains. The download will be available for PS3, Xbox, and PC, including Steam pre-orders.

"Flat out, Nuketown was a blast to play before," Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said in the announcement, "and we're excited about the reimagined Nuketown 2025 in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. We can't wait to play with everyone come this November."

Rumor: Nuketown returns in Black Ops 2 'limited release'

The employees at your local brick-and-mortar apparently jumped the gun and revealed an exclusive map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. IGN posted an image of a poster supposedly from GameStop; another image from GAME shows the same pre-order bonus. Nuketown 2025 is apparently a remodeled version of the popular Black Ops map, Nuketown.

Each image suggests there will be a "limited edition pack" of Black Ops 2, which we assume is akin to the first pressing limited edition runs we've seen for games like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Twisted Metal. We've inquired with Activision and will update accordingly.
