The 1920s Atlantic City bootlegging simulation (developed by the makers of Tropico) arrived on PC and Xbox 360 earlier this month.

Unfortunately, especially if you go by Metacritic scores, reviewers of the game haven't been very kind. See if you disagree - and don't forget there's already a PC demo.

Omerta: City of Gangsters dropped on Friday for PC and Xbox 360 in the UK and European territories, likely causing havoc as any good 1920s Atlantic City crime boss would. Omerta hits North America on February 12, and a Mac version is "coming soon," as the above UK trailer says.

Omerta - City of Gangsters, the Prohibition Era city-conquest tactical RPG (think XCOM), will also be available on Mac in "early 2013." The game finds Tropico developer Haemimont Games trying its hand at a turn-based action game.

Publisher Kalypso also gave several solid dates for the game's launch on previously mentioned platforms, which were delayed last year. Omerta arrives January 31 in Europe and February 12 in North America on PC and Xbox 360. Those are the dates for the boxed retail copies, but our understanding is that it could arrive on digital distribution platforms later this month.

Omerta was originally going to invite us to build some speakeasies this November. A representative for publisher Kalypso tells us that the company is currently "aiming for early February" as its new release window.

Omerta departs from the simulation aspects of Tropico by also providing a turn-based battle system. A team of thugs is selected to carry out missions and help raise capital for your Prohibition era empire. Think of it as 1920s XCOM without the aliens.

Under this partnership, Port Royale 3 is heading to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 9; Tropico 4 Gold Edition drops November 13 for Xbox 360 and PC; Omerta is out in early 2013 for Xbox 360 and PC; and Dark launches in March for Xbox 360 and PC.

The most mysterious game in that list is Dark, a stealth game featuring a freshly turned vampire as he takes down elder vampires, modern corporations and young adult paranormal romance writers worldwide. OK, we made that last part up. We can dream, can't we?

Speak easy and carry a big stick, that's the Omerta way. The prohibition era mob simulator impressed us at Gamescom with its mix of macromanagement and turn-based - a potential alternative for those who aren't into the sci-fi setting of XCOM.

Developed by Haemimont Games, the Atlantic City mob simulator isn't so much about building a burg like in the developer's Tropico series, but is actually focused on turn-based combat and keeping the economy of the player's mob empire stable.

Omerta's prohibition setting of the 1920s puts players in control of obtaining and maintaining a mob network that's earning cash through speakeasies, distilleries, bank heists and more. The game takes place on two levels, with the macro mob management game and the turn-based missions, where a team is personally selected thugs rob a bank, take out the competition or other enterprising opportunities. The game will be available on both PC and Xbox 360 when it arrives in "early November," according to Haemimont CEO Gabriel Dobrev.

Publisher Kalypso Media and Tropico series developer Haemimont Games are bringing mob city simulator Omerta - City of Gangsters to Xbox 360 this fall. The game was previously announced for PC, but will now make its way to Microsoft's console, much like Tropico 3, Tropico 4 and Tropico 4: Modern Times (albeit, a little later).

Instead of controlling the day to day of Tropico's banana republic operations, Omerta takes place in the 1920s, as players work their way up as a powerful mobster on the macro level. The made men and women of Omerta must construct or buy building to create speakeasies, distilleries, illegal boxing rings and much more to be good earners. If they don't, well... we hear fishes make great cuddle buddies.
