During the Penny Arcade Media Q&amp;A Panel at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2009">PAX</a>, the comic's illustrator, Mike Krahulik, explained, "We've been tinkering with a <em>Paint the Line</em> card game -- that has been quite a bit of fun in the office, so we'll see how that goes." For non-readers, <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/6/25/"><em>Paint the Line</em></a> was a series of strips the duo did in 2008 which tells the story of a global ping-pong power struggle. It's also a story of <em>love</em> and killer whales. There's a lot going on in there.<br /><br />For those who aren't immediately turned on by this notion, Krahulik added, "Ping-pong played in CCG is surprisingly interesting." Draw one backhand swipe! Tap one <em>ping</em> energy! Discard one <em>pong</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/06/pax-2009-penny-arcade-worked-on-collectible-ping-pong-card-game/">PAX 2009: Penny Arcade worked on collectible ping-pong card game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Sep 2009 12:00:00 EST. Aksys provides us with an incredibly accessible WiiWare title in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/26/vc-monday-madness-wiiware-and-vc-team-up-yet-again/"><em>Family Table Tennis</em></a>. Costing 500 Wii Points, we figured we'd take the plunge and whip up a review (along with a tasty video, which is past the break) of the title for you all. What did we think of the game? You know the drill. Read on and find out!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/26/wii-fanboy-review-family-table-tennis/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: Family Table Tennis</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/26/wii-fanboy-review-family-table-tennis/">Wii Fanboy Review: Family Table Tennis</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 May 2008 15:15:00 EST. Either way, we love Aksys. And from SNK, <em>Samurai Shodown II</em> and <em>Metal Slug.</em><em><br /><br /></em>WiiWare's ratings range from expected to thrilling. Among the games found on the ESRB website that were not yet confirmed for U.S. release, <em>Dr. Mario Wii</em> and <em>Family Ping Pong</em> stand out. Other new ratings include <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/gyrostarr-for-wiiware-announced-no-relation-to-gyromite/">Gyrostarr</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/pop-to-cost-from-5-to-8/">Pop</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/new-my-life-as-a-king-trailer-wheeled-out-for-wiiware-launch/">Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King</a>, V.I.P Casino: Blackjack</em>, and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/puzzloop-for-everyone-in-japan-next-week/">Magnetica Twist</a></em> (<em>Minna de Puzzloop</em>).<br /><br />[Update: removed reference to <em>Donkey Kong Country 3</em>. Not sure why that was mixed in with the recent ratings, or why I forgot it was already out. Well, I know why I forgot about it.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/03/non-earthbound-esrb-ratings-fly-high/">Non-Earthbound ESRB ratings fly high [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 03 May 2008 12:00:00 EST. So far, the hub lists almost a dozen upcoming titles, attaching new screenshots to some of the releases:<br />

    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ffcc/"><em>FFCC: The Young King and the Promised Land</em></a></li>

</ul>
<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-new-wiiware-title-unveiled-lostwinds/"> LostWinds</a></em> and other western-developed games are noticeably missing, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't planned as launch or near-launch titles for other territories. Much to our disappointment, the page neglects to mention any specific pricing for the titles.<br />
<br />
One worthwhile detail that we spotted is the above screenof <em>Dr. Mario's</em> four-player cooperative mode. The puzzler was already perfect before -- now it's even <em>perfecter</em>. There's also a multiplayer shot for <em>Magnetica (Puzzloop)</em> worth checking out!<br />

<em>Mysterious</em> games have shown up in the far reaches of the no-man's-land known as GameStop's "Coming Soon" list. We've speculated that a <em>Pilotwings</em> game was on the way <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/06/egm-to-confirm-pilotwings-sequel-for-the-revolution/"><em>forever</em></a>, and now it looks like ... GameStop is also speculating that a <em>Pilotwings</em> game is on the way. The release date is listed as March 6, 2009, but that's likely just a placeholder date, especially since the <em>whole entry</em> is just a placeholder anyway. Depressingly, the fake release date is five days <em>after</em> the listed release date for <em>Sadness.<br /><br /></em>Another interesting new game with a less distant fake release date: a game simply called <em>Ping Pong</em>, published by Nintendo. Its December 31, 2008 release date is most likely also a placeholder, but the very possibility of a new, full-size <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/because-playing-table-tennis-with-a-fake-racquet-attachment-woul/">ping pong</a> game from Nintendo should be great news for fans of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/wii-fanboy-review-wii-play/">Wii Play</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/24/no-surprise-online-not-included-in-table-tennis/">Rockstar Table Tennis</a></em> and/or <em>Balls of Fury.</em> (<em>Somebody's</em> probably a fan of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/friday-video-of-fury/">Balls of Fury</a>,</em> right?)<br /><br />We don't mean to get your hopes up, since the further out into the future you go, the less accurate the GameStop "Coming Soon" list is. Thus, we are calling these <em>rumors</em> at best.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/24/nintendo-serving-up-pilotwings-ping-pong/">Nintendo serving up Pilotwings, ping pong?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Dec 2007 12:00:00 EST. Do we have high hopes for a movie property? (Especially <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424823/">this</a> movie?) No.<br /><br />But the game trailer is entertaining, especially if you haven't heard of the <a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/rogue_pictures/ballsoffury/">movie</a>, as we hadn't. Here's hoping that Christopher Walken is a playable character. He's our <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hDGAvqwgdk">weapon of choice</a>.<br /><br />See the trailer for this Fall, 2007 DS and Wii game after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/todays-movie-tie-in-video-balls-of-fury/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Today's movie tie-in video: Balls of Fury</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/todays-movie-tie-in-video-balls-of-fury/">Today's movie tie-in video: Balls of Fury</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Aug 2007 00:00:00 EST.
