According to the statement, the device's release was moved in order to take advantage of a "last minute opportunity" to "ensure our first customers are completely satisfied with the Wikipad." Unfortunately, no new launch date has been set yet.<br /><br />The team says that it's working with GameStop on dealing with current pre-orders, and that anyone who's already pre-ordered the product will not only get the "refined and upgraded" bundle when it's eventually released, but "a special bonus gift" as well. Again, there's no indication when that might happen, so we'll just have to wait and see what Wikipad's plans are going forward.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/31/wikipad-delayed-on-launch-day-refined-and-upgraded-bundles-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wikipad delayed on launch day, 'refined and upgraded bundles' to be announced soon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/31/wikipad-delayed-on-launch-day-refined-and-upgraded-bundles-to/">Wikipad delayed on launch day, 'refined and upgraded bundles' to be announced soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Oct 2012 19:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/07/battlefield-3-preorders-over-1-25-million-already-beating-bad-c/"><img alt="EA's Battlefield 3 preorders number more than 1.25 million already." src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/battlefield3preorders.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></a></div>
EA's CFO Eric Brown <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/37082/EA_Battlefield_3_Preorders_Stand_At_125M_Star_Wars_Still_Aiming_For_Q4.php">announced at the Citi 2011 Tech Conference today</a> that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/battlefield-3"><em>Battlefield 3</em></a> has already racked up 1.25 million pre-orders, putting it "well ahead" of the previous <em>Battlefield</em> title, <em>Bad Company 2</em>, at the same time leading up to launch. Over <a href="http://bf3blog.com/2011/07/battlefield-3-pre-ordered-10-times-more-than-bad-company-2/">ten times more</a>, in fact.<br />
<br />
That game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/18/battlefield-bad-company-2-sells-2-3-million/">sold 2.3 million copies</a> in the first month of release, and has sold over 9 million copies <a href="http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=594196">according to the most recent financial reports</a>. Presumably, <em>Battlefield 3 </em>is on track to do even better than that. Brown said that EA expects to make full use of "the advantage of a two-and-a-half week early launch window versus our competitor," Activision's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Brown also spoke about pre-orders for EA's other big release this fall, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/star-wars-the-old-republic"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>, though declined to provide actual numbers. <em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em> will have a smaller marketing budget than <em>Battlefield 3</em> at launch, and EA expects to support it over a longer length of time. Brown said that <em>SW:TOR</em> would have "a different spend curve," -- so far, that demand "is tracking consistent with our expectations."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/07/battlefield-3-preorders-over-1-25-million-already-beating-bad-c/">Battlefield 3 preorders over 1.25 million already, beating Bad Company 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Sep 2011 20:45:00 EST. Europe has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/15/gran-turismo-5-prologue-pre-orders-reach-1-million-in-europe-alo/">done it again</a>. <em>Killzone 2</em> has gone platinum in the region three weeks before it has even been released. UK newspaper The Guardian broke the news in <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/feb/05/david-reeves-sony-europe-losses">an interview</a> with SCEE president David Reeves; 1.1 million copies of <em>Killzone 2</em> have already been preordered in Europe. Judging from the review scores, it's easy to see why. We certainly had very favorable things to say about the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/02/joystiq-review-killzone-2-single-player/">in our review</a>. You don't have long to wait before you can try it out yourself. The demo will be out on the PSN store later today.<br />
<br />
With three weeks left to the game's release, that number is sure to increase, especially when Sony launches its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/attack-of-the-ads-sony-uk-plans-2-m-killzone-2-ad-spree/">&pound;2m advertising campaign</a> later this month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/europe-goes-preorder-mad-for-killzone-2/">Europe goes preorder mad for Killzone 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 11:00:00 EST. We're not sure how often this has happened, but it seems that no games will be releasing on the PSP across all three major regions.<br /><br /><strong>NA Games<em><br /></em></strong>
<ul>
    <li>No new releases<br /></li>
</ul>
<strong><em></em></strong><strong>EU Games</strong><em><strong></strong></em><em><br /></em>
<ul>
    <li>No new releases</li>
</ul>
<strong>Asia Games</strong> 		<br />
<ul>
    <li>No new releases</li>
    <em> </em></ul>
    Chances are, it's probably not that big a deal for most of you since you're all very busy with all the great games you received for Christmas. But if you're a bit disappointed, rest assured that next week the PSP is definitely getting new games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/30/worldwide-psp-releases-for-the-week-of-dec-30/">Worldwide PSP releases for the week of Dec. 30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Dec 2007 18:30:00 EST. <p>As we type, the world's crazy time differences mean that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiifit/">Wii Fit</a></em> has been available in Japan for, <em>ooh</em>, a few hours at least.</p>
<p>How will it fare? We don't know <em>for sure</em>, and as our closest friend isn't a De Lorean-owning, wavy-haired scientist, the best we can offer is a guess. That said, the 300,000 preorders reportedly taken by Japanese retailers prior to the game's release tell us that Nintendo has probably just conjured up another mass appeal mega-hit. If all of those preorders are honored, that would also make <em>Wii Fit</em> a bigger opening week success than a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/super-mario-galaxy-sells-251k-its-first-week/">certain other title</a>, but we won't dwell on that, as it's proven a touchy subject <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/analyst-u-s-galaxy-sales-a-borderline-failure/">recently</a>.</p>
<p>Check back with us next week for the full lowdown on precisely how many Japanese people are precariously poised on their Balance Boards.</p>

Not only will you be sneered at and interrogated for not reserving a new release, you'll be castigated in front of your friends and family, your manhood and the chasteness of your mother called into question. We are told that someone will also sneak under you and tie your shoelaces together so that you'll trip when you try to walk away. This is the reality of video game retailers around the country.<br /><br />Buying from electronics superstores like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bestbuy">Best Buy</a> or Fry's cuts down on the unchecked tomfoolery that governs mall-based game shops, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/circuitcity">Circuit City</a> is taking an extra step to satisfy its customers. As marked in last Sunday's advertisements, if you're not able to find a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/superpapermario"><em>Super Paper Mario</em></a> at Circuit City tomorrow after 2 PM, the store will compensate you with a $20 gift card.<br /><br />A guarantee and good will gesture like that puts Circuit City at the top of our list of places to buy <em>Super Paper Mario</em> and other games from. We'll just have to make sure that we wear our velcro strap shoes when we go to cancel our pre-orders. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/04/09/circuit-city-introduces-best-launch-day-promotion-ever">Opposable Thumbs</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/09/circuit-city-guarantees-super-paper-mario-puts-money-where-mout/">Circuit City guarantees Super Paper Mario, puts money where mouth is</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Apr 2007 18:45:00 EST. With months to go yet until the console's release (December 8 in Europe), people are already jumping to reserve a Wii. In the vacuum left by Sony's decision to delay the PS3 in Europe, it looks like the Wii's going to be a little popular.<br /><br />And, inadvertently, the <em>Guardian</em> reminds us why <em>Wii Sports</em> has been bundled with the console to push units outside gamer markets. In an attempt to explain what the Wii is and what can be done with it, they said, "you can play tennis, golf, or baseball, you can bowl or box or play something called <strong>Zelda Hands-on</strong>, which is a sword fighting game." The uh, emphasis would be ours. When you hit Play.com to reserve your Wii, don't forget <em>Zelda Hands-on</em>. We hear it's a real winner.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/wii-preorders-flood-uks-play-com/">Wii preorders flood UK's Play.com</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Sep 2006 16:50:00 EST. Nope, they've <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&amp;id=pcmcat92300050000">set up shop</a> offering nine PS3 titles for pre-order. The purported launch titles include<em>: Devil May Cry IV, Final Fantasy VII, Indiana Jones, Killzone 2, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Resident Evil 5, Tekken 6,</em> and <em>WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2007</em>.<br /><br />Now, we don't have to remind you that retailers are a notoriously unreliable source of accurate information regarding launch dates and prices. Some of their Wii titles have already been confirmed as not being launch titles, but there they are. That said, what can we extract from this list: $60 prices, in line with the Xbox 360 and higher than Nintendo's status quo $50 price; $60 for Sony-published titles like <em>Killzone 2</em>, unlike Microsoft's lower $50 price; and <em>Final Fantasy VII</em>?! That wasn't just a <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/finalfantasyvii/media.html">tech-demo</a>?<br /><br />At least with BestBuy.com, they're not going after the nice interest-free loan most retailers do. According to their pre-order <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat12076&amp;type=page&amp;faqID=1054508892648#3">FAQ</a>:<br /><br /><em>Q: When will I be charged?<br />A: You will not be charged at the time you place the pre-order. Only when your item ships will your credit card be charged. If you order additional items along with your pre-order, you will be charged for each item as it ships.</em><br /><br />Still not sure why you'd want to pre-order software months before we know anything, but it's your future-money. <br /><br /><strong>Pre-order madness:</strong><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/02/ps3-titles-listed-for-oct-1-and-ready-for-pre-order/"><span id="ppt587270">PS3 titles listed for Oct. 1st and ready for pre-order</span></a><br /><span id="ppt75150"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/10/30/more-revolution-pre-release-madness-from-gamestop/">More Revolution pre-release madness from GameStop</a></span><span id="ppt74502"><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/06/16/zelda-revolution-wishful-thinking-or-calculated-scam/">Zelda Revolution: wishful thinking or calculated scam?</a><br /></span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/06/02/halo-3-on-pre-sale/"><span id="ppt70754">Halo 3 on pre-sale</span></a><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/13/best-buy-also-has-ps3-games-for-pre-order/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/13/bestbuy-com-is-selling-ps3-games-also/">BestBuy.com is selling PS3 games also</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Jun 2006 21:05:00 EST.
