All right, all right, Harmonix. A nine-pack of Queen hits kinda makes up for that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/rock-band-weekly-nickelback-red-hot-chili-pepper-upgrades/">Nickelback </a>nonsense a couple weeks back. Next week's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly"><em>Rock Band</em> DLC</a> will be two track packs that are all Queen. One pack includes some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-3"><em>Rock Band 3</em></a> upgraded tracks from <em>Lego Rock Band</em>, along with some lesser-ish known ditties, while the other is an <em>extrabonanza</em> of the band's most popular songs (which you might already own) reworked for <em>RB3</em>. That means: harmonies!<br />
<br />
So, if singing like Freddie Mercury wasn't already hard enough, you're really gonna have to work as a team to nail those tracks properly. You are the champions, my friends. The full DLC track details are posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/rock-band-weekly-queen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rock Band Weekly: Queen</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/rock-band-weekly-queen/">Rock Band Weekly: Queen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 11:32:00 EST. This month, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/band-hero"><em>Band Hero</em></a> DLC party starts off with a high-pitched bang, with three solid Queen tracks hitting the storefront later today. That bang becomes a guttural scream the week after, when Avenged Sevenfold drops a few songs. That scream becomes an "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk6kEZKlFa4#t=00m48s">eww-ah-ah-ah-ah</a>" one more week later, when Disturbed throws its hat in the ring. Finally, Shinedown will have some songs added to the service. (We don't know enough about their musical offerings to continue the metaphor.)<br />

Details about the upcoming sixth iteration in the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero">Guitar Hero</a></em> series (that is, if you don't count various spin-offs) have begun landing on the web from Official Xbox Magazine UK, reports <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=123689">GoNintendo</a>. As Kiss' Gene Simmons <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/12/gene-simmons-im-the-voice-of-guitar-hero-6/">proclaimed earlier this year</a>, it seems he'll be emceeing the game. Alongside his appearance, Queen, Black Sabbath and Metallica's Lars Ulrich will also be showing up, though rather than being featured as playable characters, the various rockers will be recruitable characters for guidance through the game's campaign ("Quest Mode") -- that whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/no-doubt-suing-activision-for-band-hero-circus-act-appearance/"><em>multiple</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/courtney-love-to-sue-activision-over-guitar-hero-5s-reanimated/"><em>lawsuit</em></a> <em>thing</em> certainly couldn't have hurt Activision's decision, right?<br />
<br />
Maybe most important of all is the inclusion of legendary New York City club CBGB (&amp; OMFUG) as the game's "only real-world location" (at least to this former CBGB attendee), but we suppose you're probably more interested in hearing that "previous DLC" will allegedly be playable in number six ... or <em>whatever</em>. Activision wouldn't confirm the details with us, but you OXM UK subscribers are welcome to re-confirm the report's legitimacy in our comments section below.<br />

We've known for quite some time that Queen DLC was to grace <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly">Rock Band Weekly</a>. <em>Yes,</em> we've dubbed it the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/02/ten-queen-tracks-coming-to-rock-band-later-this-month/">All The Good Ones Except for Bohemian Rhapsody</a>" Track Pack, but that doesn't make the offering any less exciting. Next week's update will have living-room bands cringe as their respective vocalists attempt<em> with all their might</em> to sing like Freddie Mercury. Then again, if the kids of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEaP-HrnP04&amp;feature=fvw"><em>Glee</em> can sing "Somebody to Love" together</a>, then maybe everyone in the band should <em>pitch</em> in.<br /><br />Check out the full Rock Band Weekly update, along with the update for <span style="font-style: italic;">Rock Band Unplugged,</span> after the break. <br /><br />

In a recent interview with the <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8304176.stm">BBC</a>, Queen guitarist Brian May commented on his inclusion in <em>Lego Rock Band,</em> calling his brickification "the ultimate accolade." Shortly thereafter, the conversation got a bit more fascinating. May mentioned that there had been discussion "going on behind the scenes" about the possibility of a <em>Queen: Rock Band</em> akin to the Beatles-dedicated title, which dropped last month. He later added, "yes, we're into it, I think it may happen."<br /> <br /> Queen's a great band. A <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxbFLYa0_bw">really</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-xVb1qsPCw&amp;feature=related">really</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1j-6vRykFs">really</a> great band. However, <em>Beatles: Rock Band</em> was successful because of the immense cultural significance of the band upon which the game was based. We're not sure that Queen possesses enough historical relevance to work quite as well. Also, 10 of their best songs are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/02/ten-queen-tracks-coming-to-rock-band-later-this-month/">hitting the <em>Rock Band</em> Music Store</a> at the end of the month, meaning a dedicated title would probably dip into their <em>weirder</em> catalog. What say you, readers? Are you psyched about the prospect of rocking out to "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKdxd718WXg">The Invisible Man?</a>"<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=225340">CVG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/brian-may-thinks-queen-rock-band-may-happen/">Brian May thinks Queen: Rock Band 'may happen'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Oct 2009 11:20:00 EST. It's not often we're at a loss for words, but the potent combo of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/elite-beat-agents"><span style="font-style: italic;">Elite Beat Agents</span></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/search/?q=phoenix+wright+ace+attorney"><span style="font-style: italic;">Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney</span></a> is too much for our feeble little brain to handle. The gameplay looks incredibly punishing and, quite frankly, we wouldn't mind a few of Wright's cases going down like this.<br />
<br />
Instead of <em>failing</em> to describe this fan-made mash-up any better, we're just going to direct you past the break, then into the comments section where you can heap on some praise of your own.<br />

Say it with us, friends, in a high-pitched, sing-song voice: <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/queen-10-pack-coming-to-rock-band-this-month-150736.phtml"><em>Queen is coming to Rock Band</em></a><em>!</em> A rumor we heard in late August claiming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/31/rumor-rock-band-2-will-import-lego-rock-band-tracks/">Harmonix is planning to bring a slew</a> of Freddie Mercury-voiced tunes to its rhythm platform is true. In the last week of October, the Music Store will be visited by the following tracks:
<ul>
    <li>Another One Bites The Dust</li>
    <li>Crazy Little Thing Called Love</li>
    <li>One Vision</li>
    <li>Fat Bottomed Girls</li>
    <li>I Want It All</li>
    <li>I Want to Break Free</li>
    <li>Killer Queen</li>
    <li>Somebody to Love</li>
    <li>Tie Your Mother Down</li>
    <li>Under Pressure</li>
</ul>
We wonder if they'll be available as a collection called "All The Good Ones Except for Bohemian Rhapsody."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/02/ten-queen-tracks-coming-to-rock-band-later-this-month/">Ten Queen tracks coming to Rock Band later this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Oct 2009 14:29:00 EST. Simple, silly -- it's <em>real</em>, and you really should watch it. <div align="left">Wired's <a href="http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/08/rock-band-queen/">GameLife</a> cites a "highly-placed source close to Harmonix" as informing the site that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-2">Rock Band 2</a> </em>owners will be able to rip tracks from the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lego-rock-band">LEGO Rock Band</a> </em>game disc, just as they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/rock-band-disc-content-can-be-ported-to-rb2-for-5/">were able to do</a> with songs from the original <em>Rock Band</em>. The source also notes that a "small fee" will probably be involved -- again, just as with <em>Rock Band </em>to <em>Rock Band 2 </em>song importing. ($5, in case you forgot.)</div>
</div>
<br />Along with this rumored feature, the site has posted a list of upcoming DLC, including 10 tracks from Queen and three from The Raconteurs due in October. Three songs from The White Stripes are listed for November release. Undisclosed material from Attack! Attack! and The Duke Spirit appears as undated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-network"><em>Rock Band </em>Network</a> content.<br /><br />When contacted for comment, Harmonix told Joystiq, "While we don't comment on rumors or speculation with regards to our upcoming downloadable content, we can promise that the <em>Rock Band</em> platform is poised to remain the unchallenged best value and source of music for rhythm games."<br /><br />This supposed "leak" is very conveniently timed, given that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5">Guitar Hero 5</a> </em>releases tomorrow. Aside from announcing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/the-beatles-rock-band-album-dlc-priced-dated-detailed/">first three Beatles albums</a> to be released as DLC for upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/the-beatles-rock-band-will-make-you-cry-hold-a-strangers-hand/2">tear-jerker</a> <em>The Beatles: Rock Band</em>, MTV Games and Harmonix today revealed intentions to bring the <em>Rock Band</em> DLC count to 1,000 songs by this holiday. At the current rate Harmonix is releasing songs for the franchise -- without factoring in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-network">Rock Band Network</a> -- that's roughly 500 songs per year.<br /><br />Additionally, the companies have revealed a number of the artists that will be contributing to the holiday goal, including Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and The Raconteurs, as well as the ever elusive "and more." You can always find out what new tracks are coming to <em>Rock Band</em> as DLC (and what's on the way) by using our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly/"><em>Rock Band</em> Weekly</a> feature.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/">Rock Band 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/#987022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/drumrocker_lifestyle2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/#987021"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/drumrocker_lifestyle1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/#987020"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/drumrocker_front_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/#987019"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/drumrocker_close-up_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rock-band-2/#986984"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rb8-nycdemo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/rock-band-dlc-to-hit-1000-tracks-by-holiday-with-help-of-queen/">Rock Band DLC to hit 1000 tracks by holiday with help of Queen, Nirvana &amp; Elton John</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Aug 2009 20:20:00 EST. Are you ready for a <em>Killer Queen</em> lineup? <em>SingStar Queen</em> is ready to <em>rock you</em> on August 18th, when it launches on both PS2 and PS3. If you <em>want it all</em>, you'll want to pick up the PS3 version, which will <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/be-a-singstar-queen-tracklist-revealed/">include 25 songs</a> and full access to <em>SingStar</em>'s community features, including the SingStore. (The PS2 version <em>bites the dust</em> with only 20 songs and no online features.)<br /><br /><em>SingStar Queen</em> will feature all the enhancements of <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/04/16/singstar-3-01-patch-gets-last-minute-delay-now-releasing-4-22/">next week's 3.01 update</a>, including a revised SingStore and Trophy support. So, <em>tie your mother down</em> and please <em>stop me now</em>. Writing with constant Queen <em>innuendos </em>puts this blogger <em>under pressure</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/play-the-game-singstar-queen-will-breakthru-to-the-us-in-august/">Play the Game: SingStar Queen will breakthru to the US in August</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Apr 2009 01:00:00 EST. Queen has produced some of the most memorable songs in music history. So, it makes sense that they would get a <em>SingStar</em> game all to themselves. <em>SingStar Queen</em> is coming to PS3 and PS2, with the Blu-ray release getting 5 additional songs:<br />

Sony has announced that the first two <a href="http://ps3fanboy.com/tag/singstar"><em>SingStar</em></a> SongPacks will be released onto the SingStore tomorrow. We would've liked to have seen SongPacks appear a little sooner, considering the game's been out almost a year, but considering the content of the first batch, we're not going to complain too much. The first two packs will contain classic Queen tunes, with each pack costing &pound;4.49 (sorry, no &euro; price yet) and containing 5 songs. Check out the track lists for each SongPack after the break<br /><br />It seems these SongPacks will be a regular occurrence, as the press release states that more will be appearing every two weeks. We're not sure whether this means they'll replace the fortnightly update, or arrive alongside it. There's also no word on whether these tunes will be coming to America. Hopefully we'll get back to you when we know.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/singstar-queen-song-packs-coming-to-the-eu-singstore-tomorrow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SingStar Queen song packs coming to the EU SingStore tomorrow</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/singstar-queen-song-packs-coming-to-the-eu-singstore-tomorrow/">SingStar Queen song packs coming to the EU SingStore tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Oct 2008 11:30:00 EST. <div align="left"><strong>Update:</strong> Looks like we got the platform wrong. <em>SingStar: Singalong with Disney</em> is a PS2 game.<br /><br /></div>
</div>
What's the next generation of <em>SingStar</em>? You guessed it: <em>SingStar: Singalong with Disney</em> will bring karaoke lovers the classic Disney songs we've all known and loved, with classic Disney movie footage in the background. The enthusiasm in the audience is quite noticeable, looking at <a href="http://twitter.com/Yembles/statuses/893363133">Jem's Twitter entry</a>.<br /><br />Other additions to the <em>SingStar</em> franchise were also revealed in Europe. <em>SingStar Vol.3 Party Edition</em> will add classic pop hits from Barry Manilow, Lionel Ritchie and Kate Bush sit alongside recent chart hits from The Ting Tings, Timbaland, Sara Bareilles and Coldplay.<br /><br />Two download packs from classic rock group Queen will also be added to the SingStore.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/singstar-disney-brings-magical-glee-to-ps3/">SingStar Disney brings magical glee to PS2 [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 11:45:00 EST. According to The People, a weekly British tabloid, Queen Elizabeth II has been on a Wii Sports bender ever since her grandson, Prince William, received Nintendo's console for Christmas (or, for our friends reading this across the pond, the day before Boxing Day).<br /><br />According to the rather journalistically unsound article, Her Majesty the "<a href="http://www.people.co.uk/news/tm_headline=make-way-for-the-q-wii-n%26method=full%26objectid=20276099%26siteid=93463-name_page.html">QWiiN</a>" (sigh) is quite the gadget savvy monarch, owning an iPod, blackberry, and fully pimped-out mobile phone, so her interest in the Wii is not so unnatural. We wish the Queen the best of luck in finding her own system -- we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/bbcs-friendly-reminder-that-wii-supply-is-still-an-issue/">hear those things</a> are harder to find than ... wait, there's nothing harder to find than a Wii. Except two Wiis, we guess. <br /><br />(Thanks to everyone who sent this in!)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/06/uk-tabloid-reports-that-the-queen-loves-the-wii/">UK tabloid reports that the Queen loves the Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Jan 2008 20:15:00 EST. Various comparisons to urine and anatomy will be made, jokes will be cracked about size, and eventually, someone is going to break out Queen. It was just <em>expected</em>, and now it's here, in this simple yet amusing video. And as a special bonus, it comes with a free comment fight -- everyone's favorite Sunday afternoon activity. Kick back, open the video after the jump, and have a giggle at the mud splatters. <br /><br />[Thanks, Ali!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/15/wii-vs-ps3-crazy-video-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii vs. PS3: crazy video edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/15/wii-vs-ps3-crazy-video-edition/">Wii vs. PS3: crazy video edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 15 Oct 2006 10:10:00 EST.
