Now there's a full Seated Skeletal Tracking mode, which only tracks a person's head, torso and arms. Microsoft recommends this not only for when games players are seated, but for any application where the lower half of the body doesn't need to be tracked. Finally, there are also new language packs. In addition to languages like French and Japanese, you get Kinect support for regional differences in languages, like English/Canada and English/Australia. Crikey, devs will be well chuffed about that, etc.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/sit-down-before-you-read-about-kinect-sdk-update-1-5/">Sit down before you read about Kinect SDK update 1.5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 04:00:00 EST. The future of <em>Awesomenauts </em>was thrown into disarray yesterday when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/29/awesomenauts-may-not-launch-as-planned-publisher-files-for-inso/">news broke</a> that its publisher, dtp entertainment, had filed for insolvency. Developer Ronimo said it was working with dtp to get <em>Awesomenauts </em>published.<br /><br /><em>Awesomenauts </em>will be free for PS Plus subscribers, Sony said. It was scheduled to launch on XBLA on May 2, but that release is still unconfirmed. We've contacted Microsoft for clarification.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Ronimo has confirmed to Joystiq that <em>Awesomenauts </em>will launch as scheduled on XBLA, on May 2. Microsoft has yet to respond, but this is heartening news for potential <em>Awesomenauts </em>fans everywhere.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/30/awesomenauts-to-launch-as-planned-on-psn-tomorrow-xbla-naut-kno/">Awesomenauts to launch as planned on PSN tomorrow, XBLA naut known [Update: XBLA now known!]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Apr 2012 15:00:00 EST. Perhaps this is Capcom's way of getting you out of the house, or maybe it's trying to bring down that newfangled digital-shopping model. Sanderson has announced on his own blog that he's teaming up with <a href="http://www.littleorbit.com/">Little Orbit Games</a> (creators of licensed games for <em>Young Justice</em> and <em>Sherlock Holmes</em>) to turn <em>Mistborn</em>'s setting into a video game.<br /><br />The game is set as sort of a prequel to the books, taking place hundreds of years in the past. Sanderson says he's been impressed by Little Orbit from working with them so far, and while there's not a lot of information on the game yet, he says the company "envisioned the game the same way I always had." Sanderson will be staying away from the actual game's design, but he will be writing the plot and dialogue. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mistborn-birthright"><em>Mistborn: Birthright</em></a> is due out on "video game platforms" later on in 2013.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/27/mistborn-fantasy-novels-becoming-birthright-game-due-out-fall-2/">Mistborn fantasy novels becoming Birthright game, due out Fall 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2012 02:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/24/vvvvvv-arrives-on-the-3ds-eshop-on-december-29/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/vvvvvv3ds.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></a></div>
Terry Cavanagh's great platformer <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/vvvvvv"><em>VVVVVV</em></a> is heading to a 3DS near you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/07/vvvvvv-coming-to-3ds-in-late-2011/">as promised</a>: The game has been set for release <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/pbYF4tOod03oE7GLsEsXMnr5k0nFg-_3">on the Nintendo eShop</a> next week. Starting December 29, you'll be able to grab the game (published by <a href="http://nicalis.com/games.php#">Nicalis</a>, the company behind <em>Cave Story</em> and its various iterations) for a price of $7.99 on your 3DS, and take on the game's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CtiY5D6HCs">many frustrating yet ingenious challenges</a> for yourself.<br />
<br />
Or, if you've never played the title before, you could go <a href="http://thelettervsixtim.es/">try out the free Flash version</a>, or play it on PC or Mac as you wish. It's a great and well-made experience for sure, but bring all of the patience you have. You'll need it.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/vvvvvv-3ds-10-07-2011/">VVVVVV 3DS (10/07/2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/vvvvvv-3ds-10-07-2011/#4509974"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/10/shiptop_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/vvvvvv-3ds-10-07-2011/#4509975"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/10/towertop_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/vvvvvv-3ds-10-07-2011/#4509976"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/10/warpzone1top_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/vvvvvv-3ds-10-07-2011/#4509978"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/10/warpzone2top_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/24/vvvvvv-arrives-on-the-3ds-eshop-on-december-29/">VVVVVV arrives on the 3DS eShop on December 29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Dec 2011 15:00:00 EST. 	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/professor-layton-3ds-to-arrive-in-europe-next-year/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/professorlaytontitle.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></a></div>
The <em>Professor Layton</em> titles traditionally take their sweet time heading across the continent from Japan to the EU, and the series' first 3DS entry, called <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/professor-layton-and-the-mask-of-miracle"><em>Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle</em></a> in Japan, is no exception. It arrived in the land of the Rising Sun last February, and hasn't been released in Europe or North America yet. But it looks like one of those releases is planned: <a href="http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=16585">The end of a trailer for</a> <em>Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call</em> in Europe teases that players should "get ready for an all-new <em>Layton</em> next year."<br />
<br />
Presumably, that's the 3DS title (though the name usually changes on the trip over), and that tease means we'll see it out sometime in 2012. We haven't seen quite as much confirmation on a North American release, but since the last title hit Europe this week and North America last month, 2012 is a good bet for us 'mericans as well. After all, it's not like Level-5 <em>doesn't want</em> to release it here, it's just that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/27/level-5-president-on-making-a-better-professor-layton-for-americ/">translation can take time</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/professor-layton-3ds-to-arrive-in-europe-next-year/">Professor Layton 3DS to arrive in Europe next year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Nov 2011 20:45:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452381">a translation of the livestream of CD Projekt's recent Investor's Day</a>, the Polish developer behind <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/the-witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a> is working on a brand new IP, along with a whole bunch of other releases over the next few years. <em>The Witcher 2</em> is still due out on Xbox next year, and then CD Projekt says it's also working on two more "AAA+" titles for 2014 and 2015. Between then and now, the company also hopes to put out three smaller budget titles -- two with a budget/staff grade of "A", and 1 "AA"-sized game.<br />
<br />
All of the titles are set up for "multiplatform" release, though which platforms isn't yet clear. But the company says it's still working on developing the RED engine, and since that engine is already designed for PC and Xbox development, we'll guess those two. CD Projekt promises more news on all of these titles soon, and since both "AAA+" titles expect to take 3-5 years to develop, it's a good guess at least one of those is already under development. We'll keep an eye open for more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/cd-projekt-working-on-new-ip-multiple-multiplatform-releases/">CD Projekt working on new IP, multiple multiplatform releases</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Nov 2011 19:45:00 EST. 2K Games announced this week that the Detroit Tigers hurler Justin Verlander will <a href="http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1626358&amp;highlight=">grace the cover</a> of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mlb-2k12"><em>MLB 2K12</em></a>, due out when the next baseball season begins in March of next year. Verlander was named Player of the Year and American League Outstanding Pitcher at the recent Players' Choice Awards, and it's likely that he'll pick up the Cy Young Award for 2011 as well, the first time he'll earn that honor.<br />
<br />
You can see Verlander's virtual arm (and virtual chewing animation) in the quick trailer above. Sure, it's the arm that strikes out batters, but you can't get Detroit to the AL championship without a groovy chew like that one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/06/mlb-2k12-names-tigers-justin-verlander-as-cover-athlete/">MLB 2K12 names Tigers' Justin Verlander as cover Athlete</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Nov 2011 20:30:00 EST. <div>
	Former Robin, Dick Grayson, has moved out from under Batman's cape to go on his own as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightwing">Nightwing</a>, but we have a feeling that Bruce would just shake his head if he saw these bangs. How are you supposed to fight crime if you can't keep that hair out of your eyes, Dick?<br />
	<br />
	At any rate, that's what Nightwing looks like in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a>, as <a href="http://geek-news.mtv.com/2011/10/11/play-as-nightwing-and-robin-in-november-arkham-city-dlc/">Rocksteady has confirmed</a> his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/03/achievements-reveal-playable-nightwing-in-batman-arkham-city/">rumored appearance</a> in the title. He and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/21/batman-arkham-city-robin-playable/">Robin will be available both in preorders</a> and in their own downloadable content packs. November 1 will find Nightwing available for $6.99 or 560 Microsoft points on either Xbox 360 or PS3, along with the "Wayne Manor" and "Main Hall" challenge maps and a Nightwing Animated Series skin. Robin's pack will be available on November 22 for the same price, including "Black Mask Hideout" and "Freight Train Escape" maps -- and presumably an extra skin as well.<br />
	<br />
	Both playable characters will have their own tools and moves for knocking out the bad guys. <em>Batman: Arkham City</em> launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 on Tuesday, October 18.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/batman-arkham-citys-nightwing-could-use-a-haircut/">Batman: Arkham City's Nightwing could use a haircut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 Oct 2011 18:30:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/worms-2-armageddon"><em>Worms 2: Armageddon</em></a> has gotten not one or two but three brand new content packs announced for the game on XBLA and PSN. The "Puzzle Pack" is available today on Xbox Live, and brings 20 new single-player puzzle missions, five new achievements, and some new cosmetic content onto your console for 320 Microsoft Points ($4).<br />
<br />
Additionally, the PSN version has gained the "Retro Pack," with 20 more single-player missions and new speech banks and other content, and the "Time Attack Pack," with even more race missions to play through. Some of that content was presumably already in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/29/toy-soldiers-dlc-this-week-worms-2-dlc-on-july-7/">the Xbox DLC that arrived last month</a>, so now PSN players can enjoy it as well, at a price of $4.99 each (with extra discounts for PlayStation Plus members).<br />
<br />
All three packs are available right now, and Team 17 is promising more new content packs to come. You can browse through screenshots of all the new content below. Happy wormin'!<br />

In an attempt to prevent its servers from collapsing under the weight of a million Force-hungry MMO-players, EA will artificially limit the number of copies -- both digital and retail -- of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/star-wars-the-old-republic"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a> available at launch. An EA representative <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/08/18/star-wars-the-old-republic-launch-copies-limited-for-retail-and-digital.aspx">reportedly revealed the strategy</a> at a Gamescom demo, but didn't divulge any details such as how many copies would be available, or how long it would take for more copies to be released once the quota is met.<br />
<br />
We suppose this strategy makes sense, though we can't help but imagine the excuses BioWare and EA are going to have to come up with to explain why their <em>downloads are sold out</em>. "Bits? You want bits? Sorry friend. We're fresh out of those. Bytes too! Sorry about that. The drought's hitting us awful hard. The ... the technodrought."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/18/star-wars-the-old-republic-launch-copies-artificially-limited-a/">Star Wars: The Old Republic supply artificially limited at launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Aug 2011 18:30:00 EST. Codemasters has announced the first DLC for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dirt-3"><em>Dirt 3</em></a>, and says that all proceeds from the sale will go to charity. The Colin McRae Vision Charity Pack is now available for the Xbox Live and Games for Windows versions of the game (for 160 Microsoft points / $2), and allows players to drive a Ford Escort Mk II with five different liveries. The PS3 version will be available as soon as the PlayStation Store returns.<br />
<br />
This was the car famously driven by Colin McRae, the original namesake of the<em> Dirt</em> series who died in 2007. All proceeds from the pack will go to <a href="http://www.colinmcrae.com/vision.asp">the Colin McRae Vision Charity</a>, which raises funds for worthwhile causes around the world in McRae's name.<br />
<br />
Codemasters says that this is the first of a few weeks' worth of DLC packs. Each will feature more cars and new tracks going forward.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/dirt-3s-colin-mcrae-charity-dlc-released-proceeds-go-to-good-c/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dirt 3's Colin McRae charity DLC released, proceeds go to good cause</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/dirt-3s-colin-mcrae-charity-dlc-released-proceeds-go-to-good-c/">Dirt 3's Colin McRae charity DLC released, proceeds go to good cause</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Jun 2011 03:00:00 EST. Sony's Japanese arm has <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110404-714785.html">told the Wall Street Journal</a> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/04/tretton-japan-earthquake-may-push-ngp-out-of-2011-in-some-regio/">earlier reports</a> suggesting Japan's recent earthquake would delay the release of the NGP in some territories -- including comments made by SCEA president Jack Tretton -- were outright "wrong."<br />
<br />
Company rep Satoshi Fukuoka said it expects "no impact from the quake on our launch plan," and that while that plan still calls for the device to arrive later this year, Sony has never said it would launch simultaneously in Asia, North America and Europe.<br />
<br />
Sony will, however, continue to monitor the situation in the earthquake- and tsunami-ravaged region and alter its plans if necessary.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/06/sony-japan-denies-any-earthquake-related-ngp-delays/">Sony Japan denies any earthquake-related NGP delays</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Apr 2011 20:00:00 EST. EA has <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2010/12/09/dead-space-aftermath-animated-series-being-released-on-blu-ray-and-dvd-in-january/">announced a release date</a> for the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/23/dead-space-lives-in-two-new-formats-animated-movie-and-graphic/"><em>Dead Space Aftermath</em> animated movie</a>. The film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on January 24 in Europe, and January 25 in the US. MSRP is $34.99, but some outlets (<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047S4UPW?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0047S4UPW">including Amazon at the moment</a>) are selling it for even cheaper than that already. The film will also come bundled in a double pack with 2008's animated tie-in, <em>Dead Space Downfall</em>.<br />
<br />
The film will supposedly serve as a prequel to <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dead-space-2"><em>Dead Space 2</em></a>, about a group sent by the Government to <a href="http://deadspace.wikia.com/wiki/Aegis_VII">the Aegis VII disaster</a> from the first animated film, in order to "test" the "effects" of Marker shards. Sounds like a recipe for "trouble" (and some gory scares). Between this release next month and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/08/dead-space-2-demo-due-december-21/">the demo later on this month</a>, the <em>Dead Space </em>franchise is about to get a whole lot <em>livelier</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/dead-space-aftermath-coming-to-dvd-and-blu-ray-on-january-25/">Dead Space Aftermath coming to DVD and Blu-ray on January 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Dec 2010 21:30:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/spider-man-shattered-dimensions"><em>Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions</em></a> is getting a PC release right around Thanksgiving this year -- kind of. According to the game's official Facebook page, the North American PC version will only be available at Walmart <a href="http://www.facebook.com/heroHQ/posts/138894709494934">over the Thanksgiving weekend</a>, which means if you want it, you'll have to <a href="http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/">brave the unwashed crowds</a> to get it (or just send the scariest member of your family). After that first weekend, it'll presumably go on sale elsewhere, so you can wait the extra week if you so choose.<br />
<br />
The rest of the world doesn't have to deal with any exclusivity agreements -- the PC version will be on sale in Australia and Asia on November 24, and in Europe on November 26.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/21/geon-devs-return-to-xbla-with-space-ark/">We weren't sure</a> what to expect from <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/space-ark"><em>Space Ark</em></a> when it was first announced, but with this trailer out, we can certainly say it looks <em>colorful</em>. Something called an "Arkonaut" is tethered and bouncing off of a moving platform called a "Bounce Pad," and then there's a Fruit Frenzy, and then the Pad can shoot fruit for a Super Combo, and <em>then</em> there's even a Bonus Stage after that. Whew, there's a lot going on there! But it does look (and sound) like fun. You can also see a "Level Up" score multiplier on the side of the screen -- and, as we all know, multiplying your score is always the right thing to do.<br />
<br />
The trailer puts the game's release on XBLA in spring 2010, which, last we saw out the window, was right about now. So you probably won't have to wait too long to get your daily dose of space fruit from <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/strawdog-studios">Strawdog Studios</a>.<br />

<br />
That <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/disgaea-infinite"><em>Disgaea Infinite</em></a> trailer that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/nippon-ichi-reveals-disgaea-infinite-visual-novel/">snuck out in Japanese</a> a little while back has now been officially released and translated into almost-English and, while it's a little harsh to call the series "the ultimate grind-fest" (unless fans want to wear that title as a badge of honor), this weird little adaptation that turns the strategy RPG into a "visual novel" adventure game still looks interesting.<br />
<br />
Last we heard, this one was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/30/disgaea-infinite-visual-novel-for-psp-releases-this-may/">due out for the PSP in May</a>, but this trailer actually says June of 2010. We checked in with NIS America, and they informed us that the game is due out on June 8th of this year. Look for it as a downloadable title on PSN then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/06/disgaea-infinite-trailer-makes-as-much-sense-as-the-other-disgae/">Disgaea Infinite trailer makes as much sense as the other Disgaea games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 20:16:00 EST. <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/games/wormsreloaded/announcements/detail/199457111706896973">News from the Steam Community</a> tells us that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/worms-reloaded"><em>Worms Reloaded</em></a>, that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/worms-reloaded-is-an-extended-edition-of-xbla-psn-versions/">new "extended" version</a> of the old game in which sentient invertebrates do battle with rockets and/or sheep, is moving up to a worldwide beta. Previously, the game was only available for testing in Europe, but it's opening it up globally on Monday, so children of all nations will be able to throw airstrikes and ninja ropes at each other then.<br />
<br />
The only catch? You need a key, and they've only got a few. So you'll just have to hope you come up when they spin the random numbers around. We do know that you have to be a member of <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/games/wormsreloaded">the official group</a>, so sign in over there right now ... and then begins the waiting game.<br />

<br />
Did you pick up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infinite-space"><em>Infinite Space</em></a> yet? The DS <em>spaceventure</em> was released from its docking station by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/platinum-games">Platinum Games</a> yesterday, and so far the reviews are actually <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/infinitespace">better than we expected</a>. We've got two more launch trailers to share with you: one above which seems to be the intro to the game (complete with <em>Star Wars</em>-style crawl and the weird narration we've come to expect from this game); and another after the break which will walk you through the game's battle tutorial.<br />
<br />
If you've tried the game out, let us know what you think below. The battle system seems different and the story isn't supposed to be too bad, either. You wouldn't think that <em>an infinite void of open space</em> would have that much going on, but maybe it's worth a shot.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/18/infinite-space-puts-two-launch-videos-into-orbit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Infinite Space puts two launch videos into orbit</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/18/infinite-space-puts-two-launch-videos-into-orbit/">Infinite Space puts two launch videos into orbit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Mar 2010 12:37:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/blur"><em>Blur</em></a> has been in development at Bizarre Creations for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/22/rumor-bizarres-new-racer-is-blur/">at least a year now</a>, and probably even longer, but in all of that time, no one in the studio has worked on any DLC, according to lead designer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ged-talbot">Ged Talbot</a> speaking to <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/03/05/blur-dlc-coming-but-not-at-launch/">MTV Multiplayer</a>. While the title does have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/blur-pre-order-bonuses-make-decision-about-where-to-buy-less-cle/">some in-game pre-order bonuses</a> ready to go, there won't be any launch DLC, so you'll have to be satisfied with the 50 cars and 30 racing locales coming on the disc for a little while.<br />
<br />
But Talbot does say that Bizarre will be releasing additional content soon after the game goes on sale, and that "it's always been a massive part of the strategy to support the game with DLC." Your late '92 baby blue Subaru might not be in there right now, but just be patient, baby -- it's coming for you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/06/no-launch-dlc-for-blur-but-there-will-be-plenty/">No launch DLC for Blur, but there will be plenty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Mar 2010 02:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo">Nintendo</a> is one of a few companies to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/nintendo-and-sony-stocks-drop-following-earnings-reports/">release its earnings report</a> earlier this week, and <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/01/29/nintendo_release_calendar">a supplemental report released today</a> has some surprises and new information for Wii owners. Not only does it finally list a target date for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metroid-other-m"><em>Metroid: Other M</em></a> (you can expect it as soon as summer of this year if all goes according to plan), but there are two brand new names in the list as well: <em>Xenoblade</em> and <em>The Last Story</em>. <em>Xenoblade</em> is listed for a Spring 2010 release, so we should be hearing about that one soon, and <em>The Last Story</em> is listed for sometime this year, with both slated for release on the Wii in Japan. There's reason to believe these are just new names, as both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monado-beginning-of-the-world"><em>Monado: Beginning of the World</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cosmic-walker"><em>Cosmic Walker</em></a> are missing from the report, and <em>Monado</em> was being developed by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monolith-soft">Monolith Soft</a>, known most notably for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenosaga_Episode_I:_Der_Wille_zur_Macht">another <em>Xeno</em>- title</a> you may have heard of. But <em>Monado</em> is still listed for a release in the US this year, so who knows?<br />
<br />
Other than that, the report lists some titles we expected to see soon: A new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kirby-super-star"><em>Kirby</em><em> Super Star</em></a> title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-mario-galaxy-2"><em>Super Mario Galaxy 2</em></a>, the Wii's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/legend-of-zelda"><em>Legend of Zelda</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/golden-sun-ds-in-the-works-for-2010/"><em>Golden Sun</em></a> for DS, and a few other releases scheduled in 2010. Valve has officially announced that 2K Games' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>BioShock 2</em></a> will be available for purchase on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/steam">Steam</a> -- you can <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/8859/">pre-purchase the game right now</a>, and it'll be unlocked for play on February 9, 2010, day and date with the rest of the world. The current price is $44.99, a slight discount from the boxed version, and that includes a Steam copy of the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock"><em>BioShock</em></a> as well, which you can "kindly" give to a friend if you happen to already have it. Or you can nab four licenses for you and three friends for $134.97, with each of you getting to play the original also.<br />
<br />
Sure, it's a good deal if you're not concerned with "discs" or "physical media," but does it come with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/bioshock-2-special-edition-vinyl-y-announced/">a vinyl LP of the game's original soundtrack</a>? Didn't think so, boy-o.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/19/bioshock-2-now-available-for-prepurchase-on-steam/">BioShock 2 now available for prepurchase on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 23:30:00 EST. Wondering what the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/ninja-gaiden-crosses-over-into-zen-pinball/">official <em>Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2</em></a> table for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zen-pinball">ZEN Pinball</a></em> looks like in motion? Wonder no more -- the video above will show you all of the Hayabusa-style bumper action you'll be able to find, complete with ramps, flashing lights, ninja spirits and... burning pagodas? Boy, those ZEN folks aren't really pinball traditionalists, are they? But it does look fun.<br />
<br />
The table will bring new gameplay modes and missions along with it to the PlayStation Store on Thursday, January 14, for $2.49 (&euro;1.99). Of course, it's DLC for the original <em>ZEN Pinball</em> game, so you've got to have that, too. Wait, we just rewatched it -- did Ryu just slice the ball in half? That's pretty awesome!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/zen-pinballs-ninja-gaiden-table-trailer-slices-and-dices/">ZEN Pinball's Ninja Gaiden table trailer slices and dices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Jan 2010 20:15:00 EST. We've known that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-3"><em>God of War III</em></a> would be arriving on the Playstation 3 in March <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/god-of-war-iii-out-on-playstation-3-in-march-2010/">for a while now</a>, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sony">Sony</a> has <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/god-of-war-iii-dated-for-japan">blessed Japan with an actual date</a>: March 26, 2010. There's no official date for the rest of the world yet, but we'll let you know when we see one.<br />
<br />
The good news is that it's possible the game could come out earlier in the US, being as it's a title developed right here between the shining seas. But either way, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/28/god-of-war-iii-demo-included-on-district-9-blu-ray/">that demo</a> will have to tide you over for a couple more months.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/god-of-war-iii-gets-a-japanese-release-date/">God of War III gets a Japanese release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 20:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ninjabee">NinjaBee</a> (makers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-kingdom-for-keflings"><em>A Kingdom for Keflings</em></a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/band-of-bugs">Band of Bugs</a> </em>and the underrated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/outpost-kaloki"><em>Outpost Kaloki X</em></a>) has announced that <a href="http://www.ninjabee.com/blog/2010/01/another-new-xbla-game-with-avatars.html">it's working on a brand new title</a> for Xbox Live Arcade, one that will allow you to play with your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/24/disney-avatar-items-flood-xblm-including-mickey-ears/">Mickey ear-wearing</a> Xbox Live Avatar. There's no actual information about the game yet (not even a title, although we know it's not <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ancients-of-ooga"><em>Ancients of Ooga</em></a>, another NinjaBee game in progress), but as you can see from the concept art posted on its blog, there's an airship, a cute bird and a dragon involved. So: a cross between <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy"><em>Final Fantasy</em></a>, Twitter and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lair"><em>Lair</em></a>? Actually, we'd totally play that.<br />
<br />
NinjaBee says an official announcement is coming at the end of the month, and it'll be releasing new concept art every week until then, so stay tuned for more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/ninjabee-shows-concepts-for-new-xbla-game-playable-with-avatars/">NinjaBee shows concepts for new XBLA game, playable with Avatars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Jan 2010 22:00:00 EST. Indie developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hazardous-software">Hazardous Software</a> has announced that you can now preorder its still-in-development <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/30/achron-brings-time-travel-gameplay-to-rts/">time-bending RTS</a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/achron">Achron</a></em>, on its website. "Pre-order" in this case means something a little different than usual: By giving Hazardous $29.99 now, you'll get access to the game's current alpha version, which includes five single-player levels. <a href="http://www.achrongame.com/release_calendar.html">According to the release calendar</a>, you'll get access to the rest of the game later this year, with a multiplayer beta in February, a level editor around April and a full game release a year from now in January 2011.<br />
<br />
We spoke with the developer's rep, who tells us that it's hoping to stick to the release calendar like glue -- he even says the dates there are slightly "conservative." Dear readers of this post in 2011: If time travel does exist in the future, could you maybe come back here to the past and tell us if this complicated little game is any good?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/time-traveling-rts-achron-now-playable-available-for-pre-order/">Time-traveling RTS Achron now playable, available for pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Jan 2010 01:30:00 EST. According to <a href="http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6333">unofficial sales numbers from Japan</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a> has fallen down to number four on the sales list over there, after a very big <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/18/final-fantasy-xiii-launch-day-sales-exceed-1-million-in-japan/">million-plus release day</a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/24/final-fantasy-xiii-limit-breaks-japanese-ps3-software-sales-reco/">record-breaking first week</a>. But <em>otaku</em> take heart: even though sales of the game dropped over a million units in the second week, this wasn't unexpected. <br />
<em><br />
Final Fantasy</em> games always tend to take a dip after the "day one purchase" audience gets their copies. The last iteration of the series took a 1.5 million unit hit in week two. But even with the lower sales, about 200,000 copies were traded for the appropriate cost in yen, which indicates <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square Enix</a> is likely still on track to meet or exceed its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/square-enix-expects-final-fantasy-xiii-sales-to-exceed-6-million/">six million target worldwide</a>. <div style="text-align: left;"><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/rumor-hotel-dusk-sequel-coming-to-ds-in-japan-early-next-year/">Zangeki no Reginleiv</a></em>, everybody! No, we didn't just wish you happy holidays in Russian -- that's the name of Nintendo's upcoming Japanese release (it <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zangeki_no_REGINLEIV">basically means "Dynamic Slash,"</a> or "Dynamic Zan") that's not only its first <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Entertainment_Rating_Organization">Cero D</a>-rated ("M") title ever, but also developed by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sandlot">Sandlot</a>, the folks behind 2007's action gem-in-the-rough <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/earth-defense-force"><em>Earth Defense Force 2017</em></a>. As you can see in the new trailer (posted for your viewing enjoyment after the break), the game features Norse heroes doing some MotionPlus-enabled hacking and slashing that results in screen-filling sprays of blood and dismemberment. Good, good times.<br />
<br />
It's highly unlikely we'll ever see this one show up here in North America -- Nintendo of America and mature games don't usually mix well. But you can still grab your Wiimote, watch this trailer while waving your arms around, and <em>dream</em>.</div>

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/locoroco-midnight-carnival/"><em>LocoRoco Midnight Carnival</em></a> is rolling onto the PlayStation Network on October 29 -- that's two weeks from now -- for $15. According to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/10/happy-loco-ween-locoroco-midnight-carnival-approaches/">PlayStation.Blog</a>, that means you'll be able to get "16 brand new stages, full competitive and co-op modes, two minigames, and three additional bonus stages" for the price of three foot-longs at Subway.<br /><br />While <em>Midnight Carnival</em> has very simple controls (only the shoulder buttons are used), we're a bit surprised that the game includes a "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/02/nintendo-describes-demo-play-option-in-new-super-mario-bros-w/">Demo Play</a>"-esque feature for the kids. If a particular area is giving you a hard time, go online and connect with a friend that has the "savior mask" on. You'll be able to hold on to that friend and bypass the entire level. We at Joystiq will probably avoid that feature -- y'know, 'cuz we like <em>playing</em> games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/locoroco-midnight-carnival-bounces-onto-psp-on-october-29-for-1/">LocoRoco Midnight Carnival bounces onto PSP on October 29 for $15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Oct 2009 20:30:00 EST. Why is Jak so angry on the cover for <em>Jak &amp; Daxter: The Lost Frontier</em>?<br />
<ul>
    <li>A) It's been four years since <em>Jak 3</em>! Even <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/daxter">Daxter</a> got his own game!</li>
    <li>B) Franchise creator Naughty Dog abandoned Jak for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2">Nathan Drake</a>, a man that can't even transform!</li>
    <li>C) Okay, Jak's been emo since <em>Jak II</em>. This is nothing new.</li>
    <li>D) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/hands-on-jak-and-daxter-the-lost-frontier/">This</a>.</li>
</ul>
<em>The Lost Frontier</em> will be available on PSP (in both UMD and PSN flavors) and on PS2 on November 3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/09/jak-and-daxter-find-a-release-date-november-3/">Jak and Daxter find a release date: November 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Oct 2009 21:00:00 EST. Okay, so it's pretty clear all of us are going to buy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/half-minute-hero/"><em>Half-Minute Hero</em></a>. The only questions left are: when? And how? XSEED's bringing the clever micro-RPG game to retail stores on October 13, with a digital PSN release to follow one week later on October 22. "Timing is just off for whatever reason," we were told by a PR representative.<br />

<em>Half-Minute Hero</em>'s bite-sized gameplay makes it an ideal game to throw on your Memory Stick. But, will gamers have the patience to wait an entire week for the PSN version? By our calculations, you could play <em>Half-Minute Hero</em> over 25,000 times on UMD before the PSN version comes out!<br />

That's about to change, as Tecmo has announced an unexpectedly soon release date for the PSP exclusive: September 29th. Finally, the team is ready to take the wraps off the zombie-infested gameplay -- and it looks markedly improved over our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/08/impressions-undead-knights-psp/">less-than-stellar</a> E3 encounter. We'll be getting our non-rotting hands on a preview build soon, so stay tuned for our updated impressions.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/21/undead-knights-to-rise-on-psp-this-september/">Undead Knights to rise on PSP this September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Aug 2009 15:30:00 EST. Nintendo has just announced <em>COP: The Recruit</em>, created by Ubisoft, for the DS at their E3 press conference. It's an open-world third-person urban crime game with an anime edge -- you play as a street racer who's been cuffed, and has to choose between working for the police or returning to your criminal ways. The short video they showed was reminiscent of both <em>Driver</em> and <em>GTA</em> -- running, shooting, committing acts that would normally get you locked up, all on the DS's dual screens.<br /><br />We've got no date at all for when this might actually appear on store shelves, but we're guessing it'll be some point in the future. Sometime after this exact second right now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/cop-the-recruit-takes-you-to-an-urban-open-world-on-the-ds/">COP: The Recruit takes you to an urban open world on the DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Jun 2009 12:58:00 EST. <span style="float: right; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 4px;"><script> digg_url = 'http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Episodic_Tales_of_Monkey_Island_coming_to_WiiWare_PC'; </script><script src="http://www.digg.com/tools/diggthis.js"></script></span> The tale of Guybrush Threepwood and his ascent through the pirate ranks is one of the most-loved stories from the adventure games of yesteryear, and now you can get ready for a whole lot more of it. LucasArts has announced to us at E3 that they're working with Telltale Games on <em>Tales of Monkey Island</em>, a five-part episodic series to be released monthly on both PC and WiiWare. LucasArts says that there's no shortage of demand among both developers and gamers to make and play as much Monkey Island as possible, so they're giving what they call "one of the forefathers of adventure gaming and the precusor to the RPG genre" <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/telltale-sam-and-max-season-two-is-coming/">the <em>Sam and Max</em> treatment</a>.<br />
<br />
There aren't any other platforms scheduled for release -- while the <em>Monkey Island</em> special edition is being released on Xbox Live, LucasArts CEO Darrell Rodriguez was tight-lipped when it came to getting the episodic content on consoles or even a platform like the iPhone. But he did tell us that their plan is to take us back to the "halcyon days" of the company, "when people couldn't wait for a LucasArts game to come out." Considering that the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_Monkey_Island">last <em>Monkey Island</em> release</a> was almost nine years ago, it'll be nice to have the wait for a trip to the Tri-Island Area reduced to just 30 days.<br />
