The Digital Division is separate from the console department inside the company, and going forward, Executive Director Andrew Eades says that it will "steer" original IP from the company in both social and mobile spaces. Relentless has also hired a former EA producer named James Wright, and he says that opening the division will "bring more fun, accessible and ground-breaking titles across several platforms for non-gamers."

Up next for Relentless, the company plans a version of Quiz Climber called Rivals, the console side of the company will continue to grow the Buzz! quiz game franchise for Sony, and Relentless says it has lots of other unannounced projects in progress at this time.

Nintendo of Europe released its summer lineup today, featuring dates we mostly know -- Super Mario Galaxy 2 on June 11 -- or aren't terribly concerned with -- Repetto Presents Ballerina in May. Metroid: Other M is still undated, having been slated for Q3, and therefore out of the bounds of the new listing.

However, there are a few welcome surprises, most notably: Jam with the Band. Originally released way back in 2004 as Daigasso! Band Bros., this rhythm game disappeared from Nintendo's launch lineup elsewhere, never making it to the West until now. We don't know why Nintendo decided to revive it now -- or if it's the first game or the sequel (both covers pictured above) -- but it's scheduled for release in Europe on May 21! Samurai Warriors 3 for Wii has been dated for May 28, as well.

Nintendo has also dated Capcom's Mega Man Zero Collection for June. The release date for this DS compilation of GBA Mega Man games had been up in the air following the announcement of its delay in Japan. Also, a previously unannounced DS title from Hudson, Shooting Watch, is set for release in May. We assume this is based on Hudson's Shooting Watch toy, which measures the number of button presses you can achieve in 10 seconds.

The site broke down January's new releases, as well as a few other games that sold well last month, and the big debut of the month appears to be Hustle Kings, which added over 39,000 players to its ranks. Assault Heroes only picked up 754 new players, but given that it's a game that actually came out in 2006 on the Xbox, that's not a big surprise. PSN also offered up its "10 for '10" sale in January, and Uno came away from that event with a whopping 87,000 new players on its leaderboards. Braid and Critter Crunch also did well, adding 20,000 and 17,000 new players to their leaderboards, respectively.

Keep in mind that these numbers are far from official, and not complete anyway -- Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment, Thexder Neo and Matt Hazard were released on PSN last month, and none of those games are included in this analysis, due to unreliable or nonexistent leaderboards. But it is probably fair to say that PSN had a pretty good month in January, especially with the games featured in its "10 for '10" sale. More of that, please.

Presumably, you have to yell "EA Sports" whenever you say it, which would be why the name is in all caps. The chosen few will get early access to EA games, as well as represent the community while giving feedback on future releases.

They've picked nine guys (no girls) so far, all of whom are active in the various EA communities and forums. They've also posted a video of the program's kickoff, and while we were totally going to make fun of it for sounding like a cliched sports team ("It's the dream of a lifetime, we just go out there to do our best" and so on), that Anton B dude actually gets a little choked up at the end after being honored with Game Changer of the Month. So all right, Anton, we get it. This Game Changers thing may not mean too much to the rest of us (just like the Xbox Ambassador program, it's just a way for the company to connect directly with their community), but everybody's got to have their thing, and this is yours. Rock on for that.

THQ's Brian Farrell has revealed on today's investor conference call that the company is planning to revisit some of its most successful franchises as far away as the fiscal year of 2012 (which would be sometime after March 2011), including this year's bestseller Darksiders, and the popular Saint's Row franchise. Farrell says the company is looking to fiscal 2012 for "accelerated growth with three major core game titles scheduled: Warhammer 40k Space Marine, a sequel to Darksiders and the third generation of our popular Saint's Row franchise."

Given that these are more than a year away, we don't have any more information besides the fact that they're planned for release (Who will Darksiders ape next? Will Saint's Row finally solve all of those bugs?). But news of sequels for both games will be welcomed by their respective fans.

Capcom spoke to Gamasutra recently about the difficulty in taking advantage of the Wii's huge user base -- it and other third-party developers have struggled for a long time to sell games to the casual folks who bought Nintendo's console, and Capcom's senior director of communications Chris Kramer says it hasn't gotten any easier. "If you're not Nintendo," he says frankly, "it does seem harder to make money on the Wii today compared to the PS3 and the Xbox 360."

So what's the solution? Fewer titles, higher quality. Kramer promises that Capcom will release fewer titles on the Wii in 2010, and that the few that do hit store shelves "will be much larger, event-size games." And he expects that other major developers will follow suit: You'll see "fewer games from the major third parties, like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft." If third parties don't see sales on the console, says Kramer, they'll stop developing for it.

PSP owners have much less content to choose from, and if you don't own Rock Band Unplugged or Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce, there's nothing for you here.

Okay Sony, we forgive you for the last couple of weeks. Today's PSN update is chock full of content, with particular emphasis on downloadable games. Punisher and Topatoi are joined by James Pond 2 and Numblast, plus a demo for Red Baron. There's also the usual amount of DLC for those rhythm games you kids love so much, along with a new MotorStorm Pacific Rift expansion.

PSP owners can grab Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, a PSP version of Numblast and some other games, but if none take your fancy at least there's some new Rock Band Unplugged DLC.

There's not a whole lot of new content this week, but better than last, at least. Another PopCap game makes its way across the Atlantic today, in the form of Zuma. Finally, to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the release of Super Stardust HD, the price for the game has been dropped to just £1.59. Go get!

Oh, also -- Final Fantasy VII has been fixed and re-released in France. Just thought you might like to know.

Sure you can probably find a cheaper copy in a bargain bin somewhere, but really you're paying for the ability to play this classic on your PSP. Anywhere. Other than that, there's a new episode of Qore and an NCAA Football 10 demo. PSP owners can grab GRAW 2 and some themes, too.

So VidZone doesn't work in the US -- we checked -- but American PSN users will be able to feast on some content that Europeans didn't get hold on, as payback. In particular, PopCap's Heavy Weapon, the release of Bomberman ULTRA and another new PS1 game, Medal of Honor Underground. Of course, there's also the same amount of crazy DLC for Killzone 2, Burnout Paradise, LittleBigPlanet and World At War. PSP fans can also pick up a digital copy of Hot Shots Open Tee 2.

The original Resident Evil is the highlight of the week for the American PSN store but, as usual, it's joined by a whole host of other content, too. As reported, a Crash Commando demo is now available and the 2000AD LittleBigPlanet DLC packs are also ready to be downloaded. PSP fans have two demos to choose from, in addition to the grandaddy of the Survival Horror genre. Europeans will have to settle for Silent Hill instead but who knows, maybe some of you would prefer that.

Bumper week of content for European PSN Store fans this week. It's true, we liked inFamous quite a lot, but you don't have to take our word for it -- you can go ahead and grab the demo off the European PlayStation store right now. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, there are four other demos for you to try out instead. No wonder this update took so long to arrive! There's also a PS1 game in the form of Creatures 3, a full PSP game and, as usual, a boat-load of DLC including the fairly large LittleBigPlanet Monsters pack.

Pretty decent update this week. Not only is Bionic Commando Rearmed half price, but Rag Doll Kung Fu is now completely free. There are also some new games in the form of Texas Cheat Em, Zen Pinball and two PS1 titles. Of course, there's also a bunch of DLC and a smattering of trailers and themes. PSP fans can grab the excellent Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice for a slightly inflated price of $23. But at least it's digital.

A few new games make their way to the European PSN Store today amid the normal torrent of DLC releases. PopCap finally graces Europe with Bejeweled 2 and Zen Pinball makes its global debut, day and date with the American release. Other than that, there's DLC for PAIN, Street Fighter IV, Sonic Unleashed and ... sadly, not LittleBigPlanet. Guess those Media Molecule folks have to take a break sometime. The store is also lacking any new PSP content for this week. Sorry, handheld fans.

[Update] PopCap has confirmed that Bejeweled 2 is only the beginning for the European PSN. Zuma, Heavy Weapon, Peggle and Feeding Frenzy will all be heading to Europe in the coming months.

Alright SCEE, we forgive you for last week. Today's update is jam-packed with content, including four full PS3 games, a return to form for LittleBigPlanet DLC and the usual truckload of DLC. This has been a really great week to be a Nintendo fan. It's been a really great week to be a Virtual Console fan in particular -- when was the last time we could say something like that? The week has just gotten a lot better with the release of the list of upcoming Virtual Console releases for Japan.

Why? Two reasons. First: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Like Ocarina of Time, it costs a painful 1,200 Wii Points -- and like Ocarina of Time, it will probably drop to the usual 1,000 in North America. Second, and possibly even more exciting: Phantasy Star! The Sega Master System RPG masterpiece is also coming to the Virtual Console. Maybe it's not a big deal to those of you with Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, but personally, it's awesome news.

We fully expect to see both of these games in North America soon. Neither SMS games nor N64 games seem to take long to make it overseas. Also of interest: Hudson's PC Engine port of the NES Ninja Gaiden. And the arcade version of Space Invaders, which marks the third time the "original" Space Invaders has been released on VC.

Magic Carpet! It's a bit dated now, but that shouldn't stop you picking up the latest slice of nostalgia to be released on the PSN Store. We're pleased to see good PS1 games becoming available on a weekly basis -- even if Silent Hill mysteriously disappeared this week. Burn Zombie Burn is the game of the week, though there's plenty of DLC to pick up as well. PSP owners have a choice between Buzz! Brain of UK and Magic Carpet. Not quite as good a selection as last week, but better than nothing.
