In the case of <em>Resistance: The Trilogy</em>, well, apparently <a href="http://www.amazon.fr/Sony-Resistance-Trilogy-platinum/dp/B007PB2Y10/ref=sr_1_318?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1333391812&amp;sr=1-318">Amazon France</a> isn't too concerned. A listing - one that's still live as of this writing - for just such a game popped up on Amazon France, spotted by UK site <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/345096/amazon-outs-resistance-trilogy/?cid=OTC-RSS&amp;attr=CVG-General-RSS">CVG</a>.<br /><br />The listing puts a May 16 launch date and a &euro;59.99 ($79.99) price tag on the unannounced bundle, which we're guessing means a May 15 launch here in North America (and a likely $59.99 pricing). You've probably already guessed as much, but the product listing confirms the trilogy as a repackaging of the three Resistance titles already available for the PlayStation 3. With such a revealing product page, we expect to hear something more official from Sony as the day goes on. We've reached out regardless in the meantime.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/resistance-the-trilogy-pops-up-on-amazon-france-with-may-16-l/">'Resistance: The Trilogy' pops up on Amazon France with May 16 launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:15:00 EST. Would you like four PS3 games for $60? If so, Amazon has got a deal for you, as it's offering $20 off the purchase of two Dual Pack game bundles. The deal applies to <em>God of War: Origins Collection</em>, the <em>Resistance </em>Greatest Hits Dual Pack, the <em>Uncharted </em>Greatest Hits Dual Pack and, of course, the recently launched <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/ico-and-shadow-of-the-colossus-collection"><em>Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection</em></a>.<br />
<br />
If you're new to this whole gaming thing, we're fairly certain that picking up <em>Shadow of the Colossus</em>, <em>Ico</em> and the first two <em>Uncharted</em> titles for $60 may be the best decision you will ever make.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/29/amazon-20-off-two-ps3-dual-pack-bundles/">Amazon: $20 off two PS3 Dual Pack bundles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Sep 2011 14:40:00 EST. Clearly you're enthusiastic about the <em>Resistance</em> series if you don't own either of the first two games, so it goes without saying that you're <em>all about</em> dressing up as a generic-looking soldier in the third game's multiplayer. Insomniac apparently knows this, as the studio took to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/27/introducing-the-resistance-dual-pack/">US PlayStation blog</a> today to announce said multiplayer "Capelli" skin as part of the bonuses included in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/24/resistance-1-and-2-greatest-hits-bundle-incoming/"><em>Resistance</em> "Dual Pack,"</a> launching on July 5. He's ... uh ... got a beanie? Awesome?<br />
<br />
As previously revealed by an insert in the <em>Battle: Los Angeles</em> Blu-ray, the two-pack of <em>Resistance</em> titles will also include "$10 worth of bonus content," detailed as the "Aftermath" map, a skin bundle, and the "wraith skin" multiplayer weapons for <em>Resistance 2</em>. When the pack arrives on July 5, it comes with an asking price of $39.99.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/27/resistance-dual-pack-coming-july-5-bonus-content-revealed/">Resistance 'Dual Pack' coming July 5, bonus content revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 May 2011 20:00:00 EST. Sony's looking to prime potential <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resistance-3">Resistance 3</a><em> </em></em>purchasers with a Greatest Hits bundle of the first two titles: <em>Resistance: Fall of Man </em>and <em>Resistance 2</em>. An insert included in the <em>Battle: Los Angeles</em> Blu-ray (which includes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/03/resistance-3-demo-to-be-included-with-battle-la-blu-ray/">a <em>Resistance 3</em> demo</a>) spilled the beans, offering a Summer 2011 launch window for the re-issue, which will retail for $39.99.<br />
<br />
The Greatest Hits bundle also includes an exclusive <em>Resistance 3 </em>skin and "$10 worth of bonus content." Let's face it -- cases from the PS3 Greatest Hits collection just look <em>great</em> on a shelf. That tiny, elegant package. That deep, crimson hue. First-party PS3 controllers are still retailing at the relatively lofty price point of $45 (plus tax!) -- wouldn't you rather pay just a <em>little bit</em> more and get a game to go along with your peripheral? Amazon will give you the opportunity to do just that with a selection of $60 bundles, which include a DualShock 3 controller and your choice of "Greatest Hit" in <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003I83VMU/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20">LittleBigPlanet: GOTY Edition</a></em>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4ZU7K/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>Resistance 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4WP32/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>Killzone 2</em></a> or <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003L4ZU9I/ref=nosim/mmbevigaotst-20"><em>inFamous</em></a>.<br />
<br />
These pairings seem to be an extension of the <em>Uncharted</em>/DualShock bundle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/amazon-lists-uncharted-dualshock-3-combo-pack/">offered</a> last December. Like the <em>Uncharted</em> deal, these bundles will likely be available at a number of other retailers -- but we've highlighted Amazon because it offers free shipping!<br />

That's a pretty good assortment of quality titles -- assuming, of course, that this isn't some kind of horribly distasteful April Fools' Day joke.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/01/10-games-added-to-ps3-greatest-hits-lineup-sony-confirms/">10 games added to PS3 Greatest Hits lineup, Sony confirms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Apr 2010 13:00:00 EST. According to a recent Walmart ad <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20533646&amp;postcount=1">dug up by NeoGAF user ghostmind</a>, a whole slew of new PS3 titles will soon be added to the $29.99 Greatest Hits collection. Featured on the ad are five games which will apparently get the red box treatment: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2"><em>Killzone 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infamous"><em>inFAMOUS</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><em>Resistance 2</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ufc-2009-undisputed"><em>UFC 2009 Undisputed</em></a>. Actually, according to the flyer, the games are being offered for $29.83. That, dear readers, is the Walmart difference.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Sony America to find out if the Walmart ad is authentic, but we have no reason to believe it's a mock-up. We mean, all those games are "hits," and they're all pretty "great," right? <br />

Chances are, you've played <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2</em></a> by now. Wait, you haven't? Why? Do you not <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2009-uncharted-2-among-thieves/">trust us</a>?!<br />
<br />
If the lack of a single player demo has turned you off Naughty Dog's latest adventure, worry no more. A free <em>Uncharted 2</em> demo is making its way to the PlayStation Store next Thursday, January 28th. In addition, premium DLC will supplement its release for fans that are still making their way through the online leaderboards.<br />
<br />
As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/21/new-uncharted-2-dlc-retail-twin-pack-for-japan/">previously mentioned</a>, the first DLC pack will add Sev and a Helghast soldier from <em>Killzone 2</em>, Nathan Hale and a Chimera from <em>Resistance 2</em>, and Cole (both good and evil variants) and Zeke from <em>inFAMOUS</em>. This first set of DLC will be available for $4.99 in the US.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/22/uncharted-2-demo-dlc-climbs-onto-playstation-store-on-january-2/">Uncharted 2 demo, DLC climb onto PlayStation Store on January 28</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jan 2010 18:20:00 EST. In a display of candor we rarely see from video game industry figures, Insomniac Games community manager James Stevenson recently poured his heart out in <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/insomniac_fans_believe_resistance_2_was_a_failure.html">a VideoGamer.com interview</a>. He admitted that although <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><em>Resistance 2</em></a> garnered fairly good reviews, negative feedback from devoted fans of the series' first installment "weighed" on him. He went on to add, "the hardcore fans of <em>Resistance 1</em> were maybe a little bit disappointed. Those folks consistently expressing that - especially <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/neogaf">GAF</a> - it was like your dog turned on you."<br /> <br /> Stevenson continued the analogy, stating, "you had this dog that loved you. You loved the dog, too, but they expressed all this affection for you. And then suddenly the dog bites your hand and it's that feeling of, ooh, ow, that really hurts." We can only guess how disappointing negative fan feedback must be for a developer -- however, couldn't this be seen as your dog telling you they're disappointed, and suggesting ways to do better in the future? Oh, like that <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2Okh1ow9B4">adorable, illustrated anti-drug dog</a>! We <em>love</em> that little guy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/insomniac-games-took-negative-resistance-2-fan-feedback-to-heart/">Insomniac Games took negative Resistance 2 fan feedback to heart</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 13:20:00 EST. The European budget line of "Platinum" titles has <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/09/07/playstation-3-platinum-range-expands/">expanded</a> quite significantly, adding four new titles for the low price of &pound;19.99 / &euro;29.99. The collection now includes <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em>, <em>MotorStorm: Pacific Rift</em>, <em>Resistance 2</em> and <em>Killzone 2</em>.<br /><br />We're a bit jealous of our European friends, as games rarely get the "Greatest Hits" label so soon. <em>Killzone 2</em>, for example, released just a little over six months ago. However, it makes sense to drop the price of these games, especially <em>Killzone 2</em>, so soon -- there are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/08/chart-track-ps3-sales-up-999-percent-in-uk/">a lot of new PS3 owners</a> out there, hungry to try out the system's greatest games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/08/scee-platinum-line-expands-includes-resistance-2-killzone-2/">SCEE Platinum line expands, includes Resistance 2, Killzone 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Sep 2009 15:15:00 EST. Clearly, this press release must have been sent from <em>the future.</em> While our timeline attempts to converge<em> </em>with SCEE's, at least you can check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resistance-2-home-space/2025572/full/">gallery full of screenshots</a> below and the video above.<br /><br />You'll need to be over 18 to access the <em>Resistance </em>Home space, but once inside you can take part in a minigame which tasks you with fending off waves of Chimeran aerial forces from the Chicago Railway Station with a "four-barrelled quick-repeating turret gun." It's no 12-guage double-barrelled Remington, but it'll do. <br /><br />Additionally, the first 3,000 visitors to find and input a hidden promotional code in the space will obtain a <em>Resistance 2</em> in-<em>Home</em> t-shirt. Looks like we may have misinterpreted his comment on our site. Our original post remains below.<br /><br />Looks like a PS3 firmware update may be happening today or tomorrow, folks. We reported details on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/gdc09-resistance-2-patch-and-dlc-detailed-dated-for-march-26/">upcoming <em>Resistance 2</em> patch</a> which includes a number of features, one being multiple PSN log-ins. Many of our readers chimed in, saying this is a feature not possible with the current PS3 firmware.<br /><br />We got potential confirmation of a pending PS3 firmware update through our comments section. Insomniac Games' James Stevenson <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/gdc09-resistance-2-patch-and-dlc-detailed-dated-for-march-26/comments/17856498/">responded</a> to our post clarifying the situation. "<em>Resistance 2</em> is the first game to fully log-in two PSN accounts. <em>LBP</em> only logs you in locally, and does not register both accounts as online through PSN. This is a big difference, and what is required for split-screen online co-op with other folks."<br /><br />Here's the smoking gun: "And it was dependent on a Sony update, hence why it wasn't in when the game shipped." If the <em>R2</em> patch is available on March 26th, then a new PS3 firmware update may be necessary today or tomorrow. It will have to allow for multiple PSN sign-ins, but will it feature any other improvements? Stay tuned.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/ps3-firmware-update-to-coincide-with-resistance-2-patch/">PS3 firmware update may coincide with Resistance 2 patch [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Mar 2009 01:50:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Resistance 2</span></a>'s first batch of DLC is coming soon, with details already spilling out of GDC. Insomniac has revealed the lineup in a <a href="http://gdc.gamespot.com/video/6206601/">video with Gamespot</a>, which you can see after the break. The new content is split into two pieces: a patch (v1.50); and paid content from the PSN Store. Both will arrive on Thursday, March 26.<br /><br />The patch will add a new multiplayer mode -- Meltdown -- as well as a new difficulty setting for co-op play. This will give higher EXP rewards, but will be much more challenging. Finally, the patch will also allow a local co-op player to sign in with his PSN profile, saving his accumulated scores.<br /><br />As for the paid content, there are a number of maps being released which have been designed to allow more intimate, small scale battles. The Aftermath map pack will cost you $5.99. There are also a number of skins which will be purchasable for $0.99 each. For more details and footage of the maps, check the video after the break.</div>

<em>Resistance Retribution</em> connects the PSP and PS3 systems in a brand new way. See what new content you unlock in the game's "Infected" mode, available for those that own both the upcoming <em>Resistance Retribution</em> and PS3's <em>Resistance 2</em>. Fans of the franchise will earn a brand new mode of playing, access new areas and weapons and get some new story bits as well.<br /><br />Another new feature is the ability to play the game with two analog sticks ... via DualShock 3 controls on the PS3. If you're unfamiliar with how this connectivity works, take a look at the video after the break to see how you'll be able to connect these two games.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/20/see-how-resistance-retribution-connects-to-the-ps3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See how Resistance Retribution connects to the PS3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/20/see-how-resistance-retribution-connects-to-the-ps3/">See how Resistance Retribution connects to the PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Feb 2009 17:45:00 EST. Media Molecule (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>), Insomniac Games (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance"><em>Resistance </em></a>series), <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tigon-studios">Tigon Studios</a> (anything that has <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigon_Studios">Vin Diesel</a> in it) and consultancy agency Englobe have all signed up to hold sessions at the conference in Malm&ouml;, Sweden on May 19 and 20. <br /><br />Insomniac community manager Ryan Schneider will be there along with Tigon's head of game production Ian Stevens, Englobe founder Tom Edwards and some unnamed reps from Media Molecule. Media Molecule are probably still drawing straws at the moment as they're busy flying off to attend this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/lbp-co-creator-to-speak-at-d-i-c-e-summit/">D.I.C.E. Summit</a> and making preparations for next month's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc-2009">Game Developers Conference</a>. That copy of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Resistance-2/">Resistance 2</a></em> looking a little dated? Three covers are available to download from the blog's official Flickr page to redress Nathan Hale's latest adventure: the original <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/3253186521/">North American</a> box art (not pictured), the Ying-and-yang art from <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/3253186365/">Europe</a> (pictured left) and an <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/3254013452/">extreme close-up</a> design that would make <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed-B6xuVjj4">Wayne Campbell</a> proud. <br /><br />We're all for changing it up, but something tells us PlayStation fans are more eager to swap out their <em>Resistance</em><em> 2</em> discs for something <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2">a little more intense</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/06/new-jacket-same-game-fancy-up-your-copy-of-resistance-2/">New jacket, same game: Fancy up your copy of Resistance 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Feb 2009 19:15:00 EST. According to the NPD, a good exclusive does not necessarily equal <em>good sales</em>. The group has collected data for 2008's exclusives on each platform and, well, there have been some under-performers. On the Xbox 360 side, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/banjo-kazooie-nuts-and-bolts/"><em>Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts &amp; Bolts</em></a> was a disappointment, selling only 140,000 units. The other exclusive on Microsoft's console, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/GOTY2008/">Joystiq's GOTY</a>), was more of your traditional success story with a respectable 1.2 million copies sold.<br /><br />And what about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/hirai-says-360-lacks-longevity-wont-top-ps3/">industry-leading</a> PS3? We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/npd-mgs4-sells-over-1-million-in-us-tomb-raider-left-undiscove/">already know <em>MGS4</em> sold extremely well</a>, but the same cannot be said (yet) for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><em>Resistance 2</em></a>, both of which seemed to perform lower than expectations; <em>LBP</em> sold 611,000 copies in North America while <em>R2</em> unloaded 600,000 units. <br /><br />As for <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com">Nintendo</a>, well ... it <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/01/26/nintendo-games-account-for-almost-half-of-2008-software-sales/">won</a>. It always does. Last we heard, Nintendo stopped making games and was in the process of building a Kirby-shaped Death Star to orbit the planet.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/npd-console-exclusives-perform-with-mixed-results-in-2008/">NPD: Console exclusives performed with mixed results in '08</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 15:56:00 EST. Have you been noticeably irked by some of <em>Resistance 2's </em>precious little "features" (i.e. bugs)? Fear not, true believer, patch 1.40 is <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/01/23/resistance-2-patch-140-details/">on its way</a> and coming Monday, January 26. If you've noticed your multiplayer level inexplicably reset to <em>one</em>, you'll now get it back to the proper level, plus whatever experience you earned post-reset. <br /><br />The update will also correct Trophy errors, such as the one requiring 10,000 kills -- if you've done the deed but not gotten the reward, this patch will retroactively apply it. Full patch details after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2009/01/23/resistance-2-getting-1-40-patch-on-monday/">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/23/resistance-2-patch-1-40-coming-monday-un-resets-your-experience/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Resistance 2 patch 1.40 coming Monday, un-resets your experience</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/23/resistance-2-patch-1-40-coming-monday-un-resets-your-experience/">Resistance 2 patch 1.40 coming Monday, un-resets your experience</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 22:56:00 EST. Many of the bugs related to saving, progression and Trophy accumulation will be fixed in a 1.40 patch available to all <em>Resistance 2</em> players this Monday (1/26). For example, some players may have had their character data mysteriously reset. Those players can take comfort in knowing that all their lost progress will be restored -- and that any additional XP earned since will still count. Those that acquired the 10,000 kills necessary for the Killing Machine Trophy will automatically unlock it once the 1.40 patch is applied.<br /><br />Here are the patch notes:<br />
<p><strong>Trophy/Medal/Ribbons</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>"Salute Me" trophy is not awarded until player reaches level 31 (Lieutenant)</li>
    <li>"Berserker" trophy can be collected during non-ranked games</li>
    <li>"Survivor" medal can be collected in cooperative games</li>
    <li>"Sure Shot" ribbon is awarded if player has accuracy of exactly 50%</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Clans</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>Added clan support for viewing members, sending invites, and setting up clan tags</li>
    <li>Default clan region is now USA</li>

Now that we've seen the <em>real</em> list for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/these-are-the-real-top-games-of-2008/">2008's top-selling games</a>, Gamasutra has taken a look at some of the high-profile titles that <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21937">didn't make the cut</a>. Thanks to data from the NPD, we now know <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> has passed the one-million threshold in the US with 1.08M in sales -- 775K in June, 301K since then. It's worth noting that the figure doesn't include copies sold in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/steel-a-proper-glance-at-mgs4-ps3-bundle/"><em>MGS4</em> PlayStation 3 bundle</a>. Globally, Old Snake has enlisted <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/11/07/mgs4-sells-four-million-copies-worldwide/">over 4 million</a> soldiers. As for <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> and <em>Resistance 2</em>, they sold 611K and 598K stateside in 2008, respectively. <br /><br />Here's the bad news: <em>Tomb Raider: Underworld</em> has managed only 246K across three platforms since launching mid-November -- indeed a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/09/eidos-disappointed-with-tr-underworld-sales-stock-drops/">disappointment</a>, but also a lowered bar for Naughty Dog's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/nathan-drake-beyond-lara-crofts-popularity/">Nathan Drake vs. Lara Croft</a> claim. To its credit, <em>TRU</em> has done better elsewhere, selling 1.5 million worldwide. Meanwhile, <em>Prince of Persia </em>did 483K in December, with at least 213K of those going to the PS3 version. While that puts it on par with Sony's first-party titles last month, it also means the Xbox 360 version saw relatively disappointing sales.<br /><br /><br />

Want to know what <em>Resistance Retribution</em> looks like when you infect it with <em>Resistance 2</em>? GameTrailers has posted an interesting comparison video, showing the subtle (and not-so-subtle) differences that occur when you play with an infected copy. When your game is infected, you'll have access to a new health system (regeneration), and gain access to areas that won't be available to regular players. Watch the video, after the cut.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/resistance-retribution-to-infect-or-not-to-infect/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Resistance Retribution: to infect, or not to infect?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/resistance-retribution-to-infect-or-not-to-infect/">Resistance Retribution: to infect, or not to infect?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:10:00 EST. This Friday <em>Resistance 2 </em>fans will have the opportunity to play the game against members of Insomniac. The event will take place between 7pm and 8pm GMT (that's 2pm and 3pm EST). Details on which room this will take place in will be revealed at 7pm GMT on Friday in the <a href="http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=408&amp;thread.id=24509">announcement thread</a> on the European PS3 forums. So if you've always wanted to show the guys who made <em>Resistance 2</em> just how much better than them you are at <em>their </em>game, this might be your chance.<br /><br />[Thanks Poggins]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/play-resistance-2-with-insomniac-this-friday/">Play Resistance 2 with Insomniac this Friday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 17:15:00 EST. It seems everyone's getting into the Christmas spirit today. First <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/littlebigplanet-and-pain-getting-free-xmas-themed-costumes/">free Santa costumes</a> and now we find out that Insomniac are releasing some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance"><em>Resistance</em></a> related gifts onto the PSN Store during tomorrow's update. These gifts take the form of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><em>Resistance 2</em></a> XMB themes and a new trailer for the game. Not only that but the map packs for <em>Resistance: Fall of Man</em> will be made available to download for free, in case you're feeling retro this Christmas.<br /><br />Bryan Intihar also states that more <em>Resistance 2 </em>patches are on the way and that "some really cool" new features are coming to <a href="http://www.myresistance.net">MyResistance.net</a>. The PlayStation Blog will have more news on both of these in the near future. In the meantime, be sure to grab all these free goodies when they arrive tomorrow and check out G4's X-Play this Friday at 8pm to see Ted Price talk about his favorite games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/free-resistance-stuff-on-the-psn-store-tomorrow/">Free Resistance stuff on the PSN Store tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 19:45:00 EST. <strong>Update:</strong> We've selected a winner! Congratulations to Liana Engie of Claremont, CA.<br /><br />A few weeks back we attended Insomniac Games' <em>Resistance 2</em> open house in Los Angeles, where the developer literally opened its doors and let fans stream in to find out how the game was created. Insomniac showed films, talked gun design, and even fed everyone massive stacks of pizza. Pretty darned <strike>costly</strike> impressive. Can you imagine opening your doors to hordes of unwashed gamers?<br /><br />For Day 2 of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/joyswag-holidaze-2008/">Joyswag Holidaze</a>, we're giving away the Collector's Edition of <em>Resistance 2</em>, a <em>Resistance 2</em> development team t-shirt (size large), and a <em>Resistance 2</em> poster that's been signed by the entire development team. <br /><br />To enter the giveaway:<br />

Treyarch's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> has climbed to the top of the UK all-format game sales charts, blasting its way through countless soldiers, explosive set pieces and <em>Need For Speed: Undercover</em>, which was in second place for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/metareview-need-for-speed-undercover-multi/">some reason</a>. <em>Resistance 2</em> grabbed the tenth spot in its debut, while S<em>onic Unleashed</em>, as <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=322767">Eurogamer</a> points out, only managed 23rd ... on the Xbox 360-specific chart. <br /><br />Though <em>FIFA 09</em>'s third all-format position makes complete sense and matches our envisioned UK stereotypes perfectly, it's somewhat harder to justify the #39 spot held by <em>Mirror's Edge</em>, not to mention <em>Left 4 Dead</em>'s #34. <em>Tomb Raider: Underworld</em>, however, managed to go from a 9 to a 7 in a week. Not the first time <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/eidos-uk-blocks-tomb-raider-underworld-reviews-below-8-10/">that's happened</a>.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/call-of-duty-world-at-war-tops-uk-charts/">Call of Duty: World at War tops UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 11:35:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/resistance-2-sales-only-two-thirds-of-original">Gamesindustry.biz</a>, gamers in the UK are not buying into the whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><em>Resistance 2</em></a> thing. It debuted on the British top ten charts in last place. The only other shooter on the charts, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-5"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>, reigns atop at number one. <br /><br />Gamesindustry.biz notes that <em>R2's</em> debut sales only accounts for two-thirds that of the original <em>Resistance: Fall of Man's</em> debut numbers. While the site doesn't give out specific figures, sales for <em>R2</em> probably don't sound as bad as it's made out to be. The first<em> Resistance</em> was a launch title and was the first PS3 title to sell over a million copies. When you think of it that way, the original has some advantages towards sales and some tough shoes to fill. <br /><br />Whatever is keeping the Brits at bay, we just hope it's not because the game is now set in cowboyland instead of her majesty's empire. Seriously though, <em>R2</em> is a vastly improved title over the first, so don't miss out on it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/software-sales-data-uk-gamers-resist-resistance-2/">Software sales data: UK gamers resist Resistance 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 07:00:00 EST. Did you know that <em>Resistance 2</em> still isn't out in Europe? It's finally out in a week, but you can try your hand at 8-player co-op a whole day early if you can make it to London. SCEE has announced that a free-to-attend event will be hosted at Rendezvous, a cake and ice-cream parlour in Leicester Square. There will be free food and 8-player co-op games will be taking place from midday to 11pm on November 27th. The event is restricted to those who are 18+ only.<br /><br />Let us know if you'll be attending. If you're in the area, you'd be silly to say no to free food and games, right? Plus, it just so happens that a certain London-based PS3 Fanboy blogger will be in town that day anyhow, so it'll be nice to know how many readers will be in attendance.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/chimera-invade-leicester-square-on-november-27th/">Chimera invade Leicester Square on November 27th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Nov 2008 16:20:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">This week on the Japanese weekly sales charts, two PS3 games make a commendable debut. <em><strike>Yakuza 3</strike></em> <em>Way of the Samurai 3</em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/yakuza-3"></a> (thanks, Fiddlesworth!) was sucked in and spat out by the top dog <span style="font-style: italic;">Kirby Super Star Ultra</span>, but it still managed to land in second place, selling 81,047 copies. And who said Japanese gamers don't enjoy first-person shooters? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Resistance 2</span></a> makes it into the top 5 by the skin of its teeth, selling 33,584 copies. While<span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>Grand Theft Auto IV</span> for the PS3 is still selling relatively strong, taking eleventh place, <span style="font-style: italic;">LittleBigPlanet</span> isn't doing quite as well -- Media Molecule's title in currently in twenty second place.<br />

While the newly expanded descriptions of recent titles on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board site often serve as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/esrb-reveals-new-rating-summaries-we-wait-for-comedy-gold/">pure source of unintended hilarity</a> (See: <em>Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe</em>'s "exaggerated breast proportions and movement"), a recent news post on <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6200958.html?om_act=convert&amp;om_clk=morenews&amp;tag=morenews;title;12">Gamespot points out another side-effect</a> of the ESRB's newly developed long-windedness -- certain descriptions for titles, such as <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=25545"><em>Fallout 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=25685"><em>Resistance 2</em></a>, contain a few minor plot spoilers.<br /><br />There's no revelations of Keyser Soze-esque proportions in the descriptions for the titles listed above -- though they do reference specific moments in the game that prospective players may want to remain in the dark about. Consider yourself warned.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/16/esrb-game-descriptions-contain-minor-spoilers/">ESRB game descriptions contain minor spoilers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 16 Nov 2008 19:00:00 EST. People who are currently playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2"><span style="font-style: italic;">Resistance 2</span></a> may have noticed some odd ends with the game here and there. There are some issues with online stats, with the split-screen's 4:3 ratio, and there are even some people complaining about player 2's stats in split-screen not saving. Insomniac knows of these concerns and has addressed these problems and more via the official <a href="http://www.myresistance.net/smf/index.php?topic=83366.msg2421277#msg2421277">MyResistance forums</a>. <br /><br />They've compiled a list of known issues and misconceptions pertaining to <span style="font-style: italic;">R2</span> to clarify on what's being fixed and what's intentionally in there. We've posted the list after the break for your convenience, and even re-organized the list for clearer understanding.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/insomniac-outlines-r2s-issues-and-misconceptions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Insomniac outlines R2's 'issues and misconceptions'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/insomniac-outlines-r2s-issues-and-misconceptions/">Insomniac outlines R2's 'issues and misconceptions'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 15:30:00 EST. Spike TV's <a href="http://www.spike.com/blog/2008-video-game/70647">2008 Video Game Awards</a> will be kicking off next month and the nominees and categories have all been set in place. Among the PlayStation-centric titles, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> lead the pack and have earned five nominations each. <p> Were you able to go to Insomniac's Community Day? Don't worry -- neither were we (California's far away!). For those that weren't able to make it, the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/11/11/insomniac-games-opens-its-doors-for-fans/">PlayStation.blog</a> has a new video highlighting events from the day's activities. Obviously, a lot of <em>Resistance</em>-themed talks were at hand, as various members of the Insomniac Games team shared their studio to their loyal fans. This outreach shows why Insomniac Games is such an incredible studio.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/video-insomniacs-community-day/">Video: Insomniac's Community Day</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Nov 2008 19:55:00 EST. Want to know a little more about what it was like to be an artist behind the scenes on <em>Resistance 2</em>? A few choice Insomniacs have contributed to an <a href="http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=4772&amp;page=1">article</a> over at CGSociety.org where they talk about how many of the game's art assets were put together. The article also contains a load of screenshots from the game, such as the one above which shows an untextured Leviathan in the modelling package Z-Brush. A great read for any enthuast game artists.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/insomniac-talks-resistance-2s-art-at-cgsociety/">Insomniac talks Resistance 2's art at CGSociety</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Nov 2008 14:30:00 EST. You know, Easter Eggs are always fun little secrets to seek out -- such as this one from <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance-2">Resistance 2</a></em>, which candidly gives a shout out to Konami's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a>. Reader Jay stumbled upon this "MGS4PWNS" sign in co-op mode. It looks like the ladies and gents at Insomniac have enjoyed <em>MGS4</em> quite a bit. And why not? It's great.<br /><br />To see the EE for yourself, just check out the Spec Op's ammo crate after "prototype ammo berserk" has been activated. We haven't tried this ourselves yet this weekend, but we're sure we'll run into it sometime. So how about you? Have you found anything interesting in your gaming sessions this weekend? <br /><br />[Thanks Jay!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/09/resistance-2-easter-egg-gives-props-to-mgs4/">Resistance 2 Easter Egg gives props to MGS4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 11:00:00 EST.
