So your friend heard from his friend who used to go out with a girl who was a cousin of a Valve developer that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/half-life-3"><em>Half-Life 3</em></a> would be released as a Steam exclusive this March? Or maybe you just crawled across <a href="http://black-aperture.com/">a convincing website</a> which seemed to point to another, long-awaited iteration in the <em>Half-Life</em> series? Well bad news, friends: "You are being trolled."<br />
<br />
That's the word from Valve writer Chet Faliszek, who <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=27654778&amp;postcount=30">says on the Steam forums</a> that "there is no ARG," and there are no official hints out there at all that a third <em>Half-Life</em> game is coming any time soon. We don't care how convincing that secret FTP that the guy on IRC told you about was: any <em>Half-Life 3</em> rumors so far are completely unofficial, as great as that fan-made <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/04/dan-trachtenberg-talks-the-past-and-future-of-portal-no-escape/"><em>Portal</em> short</a> was.<br />
<br />
Then again, it <em>would</em> be just like Valve to say that an official ARG wasn't official, wouldn't it? Maybe they're just trying to hide the real story by saying it too is a fake! <em>Conspiracy!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/30/valve-any-half-life-3-clues-are-community-trolling-the-communi/">Valve: Any Half-Life 3 clues are 'community trolling the community'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Dec 2011 03:30:00 EST. Let's get this straight: There are rumors about video games, and then there are <em>crazy internet rumors</em> about video games that are so intriguing you can't help but get excited about them, even though you don't believe they're anything more than products of an overactive fan imagination. This post is about the second kind.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://thewiire.com/blog/post/6183-rumor-new-zelda-wii-details-leaked">Information has bubbled up</a> from the Japanese <a href="http://www.2chan.net/">2chan</a> message board about the new Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda,@wii"><em>Zelda</em></a> game and, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/2chan">2chan</a>'s record on rumors hasn't been bad (they've broken information on Japanese anime, <em>Resident Evil</em> and other games that later turned out to be true), these rumors are crazy. Like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/majoras-mask"><em>Majora's Mask</em></a> crazy. Heroes in a half-shell news now, as we've got a pair of juicy tidbits dealing with the pint-sized martial arts masters. First, we present <a href="http://www.oflc.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/025aa8426768986cca25761f005d97c9!OpenDocument">this OFLC certification</a> which says that recently released downloadable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/turtles-in-time"><em>Turtles in Time: Re-Shelled</em></a> is set to grace the DSi. Sadly, we have nothing else to go on but that, though we must say the prospect of yelling "turtle power!" at our DSi on the subway is an appealing one. <br /><br />Our second item is a little more interesting. <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=94721">GoNintendo</a> points us toward the latest issue of Nintendo Power, which supposedly reveals <em>TMNT: Arcade Attack</em>, a new title for the DS that utilizes the <em>Turtles in Time</em> formula (see: arcade style beat-em-up). GoNintendo says the game "supports 2-player action, allows you to throw enemies at the screen, and even lets you jump-kick enemies...but in a way that doesn't let you spam the move to victory," though we haven't seen the issue ourselves yet to confirm. If you have it, well, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/contact/tips">send us a tip</a>! <br /><br /><a href="http://www.oflc.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/025aa8426768986cca25761f005d97c9!OpenDocument">Source</a> - Turtles in Time: Reshelled OFLC cert [Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/08/ninja_turtles_getting_reshelle.php">Gamerbytes</a>]<br /><a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=94721">Source</a> - TMNT: Arcade Attack in Nintendo Power<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/rumor-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-set-to-assault-ds-and-dsi/">Rumor: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set to assault DS and DSi</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Aug 2009 16:15:00 EST. According to a list of 2009 projects from <a href="http://www.gem-impact.com/works.html">Gem Impact</a>, the audio production studio founded by <em>Metal Gear Solid</em> composer Norihiko Hibino, Konami has a new Xbox 360 title in the works. First of all, no, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/01/01/rumor-mgs4-360-bound-12-14-months-after-ps3-release/">we're not going to say it</a>. We'll just say that the title could be <em>anything</em>. It's also worth noting, as does <a href="http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/formats/xbox360/rumour-konami-working-on-exclusive-xbox-360-title-$1293240.htm">Gamezine</a>, that the same page lists <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/bayonetta">Bayonetta</a> </em>as a PS3-only title, which isn't the case. Thus, the Konami listing could easily be a multiplatform title -- the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-konami-whips-out-castlevania-for-ps3-xbox-360/">new <em>Castlevania</em> title</a> revealed last year, perhaps.<br /><br />Also worth pointing out, the list notes an upcoming PS3 title from <em>Fatal Frame IV</em> and <em>No More Heroes</em> developer Grasshopper Manufacture. This might be the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/ea-publishing-new-action-horror-franchise-from-suda51-shinji/">horror project</a> with EA that was announced last year -- for Xbox 360 and Wii as well, incidentally -- or it might be something completely different.<br /><br />Maybe it's time to start thinking up this year's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/bingo/">E3 Bingo cards</a> ....<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/formats/xbox360/rumour-konami-working-on-exclusive-xbox-360-title-$1293240.htm">Gamezine</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/rumor-new-xbox-360-title-on-the-way-from-konami/">Rumor: New Xbox 360 title on the way from Konami</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 17:30:00 EST. A rumor posted over at <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/rumortoid-co-op-action-clone-wars-game-coming-to-360-ps3-129365.phtml">Destructoid</a> points to a new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=clone+wars"><em>Clone Wars</em></a> game in the works for Xbox 360 and PS3. Titled <em>Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes</em>, the game is described as a third-person action title featuring two-player co-op, with separate "Jedi" and "Clone" storylines featuring Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, respectively.<br /><br />The game's focus is supposedly on melee combat, with mention of some form of upgrades available throughout the game. Jedi characters will purportedly have some access to Force powers (gasp!), such as the ability to control droids (Dtoid's post mentions rolling Droideka).<br /><br />Krome Studios has had plenty of experience with the <em>Star Wars</em> franchise. The company handled porting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/star-wars-the-force-unleashed/"><em>Star Wars: The Force Unleashed</em></a> to the Wii, PS2, and PSP, and was responsible for the Wii-exclusive <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/metareview-the-clone-wars-lightsaber-duels/"><em>Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels</em></a>. Basically, anything <em>other</em> than a press release or recorded statement from an executive is considered rumor and speculation. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/nintendo-of-europe-calls-motionplus-release-date-rumor-and-spec/">MotionPlus release date</a>? Rumors and speculation! A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/29/nintendo-of-america-cant-comment-on-new-ds-report-it-commente/">new DS model</a>? <em>Rumors and speculation!</em> (Well, "research and speculation," just to keep it fresh!)<br /><br />And so it is with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/14/report-wiiware-sales-threshold-factors-in-dev-profit/">WiiWare sales threshold</a> story presented yesterday. A Nintendo UK spokesperson told <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/nintendo-wiiware-sales-threshold-%E2%80%9Cspeculation%E2%80%9D">Edge</a> that the information was "rumour and speculation." Technically, it's <em>true</em> to say that -- statements from unnamed developers really <em>are</em> rumors, just like estimates of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/nintendo-comments-on-wii-manufacturing-costs-not-planning-price-cut/">Wii manufacturing costs</a> are speculation. But it's no less frustrating. Even so, it's worth noting that the rep followed up not with a denial of the payment scheme, but, "The terms, conditions and contracts between Nintendo and developers is a private and confidential matter."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/surprise-nintendo-dismisses-wiiware-sales-threshold-as-rumour/">Surprise! The above image (used to promote the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/banjo-tooie"><em>Banjo-Tooie</em></a> premium theme for Xbox 360) was revealed via <a href="http://forums.banjo-kazooie.com/blogs/sample_weblog/archive/2009/04/07/44601.aspx">the <em>Banjo-Kazooie</em> forums</a>. Notice anything? No, not the huge, red arrow. Look at what it's <em>pointing at</em>. What could that be?<br /><br />Forum users are saying it's an icon for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=perfect+dark&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">Perfect Dark</a> </em>on XBLA, though it could be anything, really. We should also mention that Rare does like messing with fans. Remember that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/rares-christmas-card-lacking-killer-instinct-or-is-it/">Christmas card debacle</a>? This could be another tease that goes ... <em>nowhere.</em> Also, how do we know that Rare isn't developing a game called <em>"Person Stuck in White Room"?</em> Hey, it could happen!<br /><br />Regardless, we contacted Microsoft about the possibility of <em>Perfect Dark</em> on XBLA. The company's response: "We have nothing to announce at this time."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-2499-Perfect-Dark-Remake-Set-for-an-XBLA-Release?.html">Xbox360Achievements</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/09/rumor-rare-accidentally-reveals-perfect-dark-xbla/">Rumor: Rare 'accidentally' reveals Perfect Dark XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 21:00:00 EST. The sharks are circling! According to <a href="http://kotaku.com/5201804/three-companies-eye-midway-for-buy-out/">a rumor at Kotaku</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/midway">Midway</a> could get bought by one of three different companies. Like the belle of the ball, Midway is being closely examined by each of these potential suitors, who are evaluating the company's potential and examining IPs. These three companies are supposedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ubisoft">Ubisoft</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/warner-bros">Warner Bros.</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/a-private-chicago-investor">a private Chicago investor</a>, all of whom could receive a bounty of IPs upon acquisition of ... oh, who are we kidding? They just want the rights to <em>San Francisco Rush</em>.<br /><br />The rumor also states that Warner Bros. is the most likely candidate, with a representative having already made the trek to Midway for a visit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/rumor-three-companies-looking-to-purchase-midway/">Rumor: Three companies looking to purchase Midway</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 18:30:00 EST. If it weren't the day <em>before</em> April Fool's day, then we'd be willing to bet that a rumor regarding 19 year-old laserdisc game <em><a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&amp;start=1&amp;q=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Dog_McCree&amp;ei=wn7SSanrJ6PqlQf88NGbBw&amp;usg=AFQjCNHICQ6C7-W7xULYPsLMtRxzVtQCGw">Mad Dog McCree</a> </em>coming to the Nintendo Wii is nothing short of malarkey. As it stands, however, the <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=136795">listing at GameFly</a> is pretty compelling evidence.<br /><br />We'll concede that the game would most certainly have a place on the Wii, with the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/wiimote">Wiimote</a>'s IR sensor performing just as well, if not better, than a DVD remote. But, it's a <em>19 year old game</em>. And not even a good game, at that. Why would they port it to Wii? Oh, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/gdc09-nintendo-has-shipped-50-million-wii-consoles/">right</a> ...<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/gdc09-nintendo-has-shipped-50-million-wii-consoles/"><br /></a><br />We've put word in to Majesco (the publisher listed at GameFly) concerning the game and will be sure to update as soon as we receive a response.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/03/31/vintage-light-gun-game-mad-dog-mccree-targeting-wii/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/31/rumor-gamefly-shows-mad-dog-mccree-setting-sights-on-wii/">Rumor: GameFly shows Mad Dog McCree setting sights on Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 Mar 2009 18:15:00 EST. Oil up that Lancer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> fans, because we've got a juicy rumor you'll want to dig your chainsaw into. One very thorough user over at the <a href="http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=668042">Gears of War forum</a> deduced via <a href="http://twitter.com/geoffkeighley/status/1382345138">Geoff Keighley's Twitter</a> and an alleged Asian product page (pictured) that the <em>Gears 2</em> DLC train won't make its final stop at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/epic-details-next-gears-2-update-snowblind-to-cost-800-ms-point/">Snowblind</a>. It appears the train will keep chugging along to its next stop, "Dark Corners," which may be announced during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc-2009">GDC09</a> this week.<br /><br />The above image says that 'Dark Corners' will be arriving in April some time, after Snowblind, but that's really all we have to go on right now. We'll be sure to update as soon as we have more information.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/rumor-gears-of-war-2-dark-corners-dlc-to-be-revealed-this-wee/">Rumor: Gears of War 2 'Dark Corners' DLC to be revealed this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 14:22:00 EST. You've probably heard of this supposed PS3 price cut just about a bazillion times from people who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/publishers-push-sony-for-ps3-price-cut/">want it</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/analyst-ps3-price-cut-could-happen-very-soon/">say it's coming</a> and even from people who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/analyst-ps3-price-cut-wont-help-sony-in-short-term/">don't think it's going to work</a>. So, it shouldn't be too surprising to hear that there's even more on this ongoing rumor. The latest involves a "major UK high street retailer" speaking to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=211023">CVG</a> about the PS3 price drop and -- get this -- a PSP price slash, too. The unnamed retailer says both cuts are "definitely coming soon" but were unable to give specifics. <br /><br />Yesterday, we broke the news that a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/target-receives-new-ps3-sku-to-release-after-gdc/">new PS3 SKU</a> will be available by the end of the month; however, there is no price drop included with this new bundle. This means that the British retailer could be referring to a Europe-only drop or their definition of 'soon' might be much further off. Most analysts expect a price cut to hit sometime <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/analyst-ps3-price-cut-could-happen-very-soon/">around</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/analyst-ps3-price-cut-wont-help-sony-in-short-term/">June</a> -- E3 time.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/ps3-price-cut-rumors-continue/?biz=1">GameDaily</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/ps3-price-cut-murmurs-continue-psp-added-into-the-mix/">PS3 price cut murmurs continue, PSP added into the mix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Mar 2009 16:30:00 EST. An anonymous tipster hooked us up with some alleged details regarding the rumored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/ea-site-hints-at-army-of-two-sequel-army-of-two-tfd/"><em>Army of Two </em>sequel</a>. Our source is confident that the sequel will be titled <span style="font-style: italic;">Army of Two: The 40th Day</span>, but we won't know for sure until <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/ea-montreal-to-announce-new-game-on-march-12/">March 12</a>. Still, there's plenty of solid evidence piling up. We've built our case after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/rumor-army-of-two-sequel-called-the-40th-day/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rumor: Army of Two sequel called 'The 40th Day'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/rumor-army-of-two-sequel-called-the-40th-day/">Rumor: Army of Two sequel called 'The 40th Day'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Mar 2009 10:42:00 EST. There was a rumor floating around today about <a href="http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/nxe-update-now-included-as-mandatory-update-on-disc/">NXE shipping on Xbox 360 game discs</a> (via <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/33427/NXE-becomes-mandatory-360-upgrade">MCV</a>) and, as you can imagine, we were surprised. So we put in a question to Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who confirmed that Microsoft has begun including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/video-tour-new-xbox-experience-exposed/">NXE</a> with Xbox 360 games.<br /><br />As to whether <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hawx"><em>Tom Clancy's HAWX</em></a> and 2K Sports' <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/demo-rama-mlb-2k9-vs-monsters-vs-aliens/"><em>MLB2K9</em></a> will be the first games to feature the NXE update -- as the rumor suggested -- Major Nelson could not confirm. But, from here on out, expect the update to be included on all retail game discs.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/confirmed-nxe-update-on-xbox-360-game-discs/">Confirmed: NXE update on Xbox 360 game discs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 16:40:00 EST. Our good friends at the rumor mill are at it again, this time churning out a most delicious prospect: <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/26/rumour-climax-working-on-silent-hill-remake-for-wii/">a <em>Silent Hill </em>remake for the Wii and PSP</a>. Supposedly under development at Climax, a report suggests that the return trip to <em>Silent Hill</em> is one of two Konami projects at the studio, the other being (according to <a href="http://www.climaxgroup.com/jobs/jobs.aspx?ArticleID=996&amp;Studio=Portsmouth">job listings</a>) a "ground breaking next-gen game for the PS3 and the Xbox 360."<br /><br />We've asked Konami and Climax for comment and we'll be sure to update you as soon as we receive a response.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/rumor-climax-developing-silent-hill-remake-for-wii-psp/">Rumor: Climax developing Silent Hill remake for Wii, PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Feb 2009 10:24:00 EST. An anonymous source apparently <a href="http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/">tipped off Dutch gaming site Segaonline.nl</a> to some top secret images of <em>Sega Vintage Collection</em>, a series of retro titles making their way to Xbox Live. The games are what you'd expect; it's classic Sega fare with <em>Gunstar Heroes</em>, <em>Comix Zone</em>, <em>Altered Beast</em>, <em>Shinobi III</em>, and <em>Sonic the Hedgehog 3</em>.<br /><br />The images and information seem sound enough to us, but you know how it is with these things. "My uncle totally works at Nintendo," and "My mom is in Bill Gates' book club" are just a few of the lies we've heard when dealing with these types of rumors in the past. So keep that tucked under your cap when you <a href="http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/">head over to check out the pictures</a>.<br /><br />If you would like a machine to <em>totally butcher</em> the translation for you, then <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.segaonline.nl%2Fblog%2F2009%2F02%2F13%2Fsega-vintage-collection-breid-uit%2F&amp;sl=nl&amp;tl=en&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8">click here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/rumor-sega-vintage-collection-coming-to-xbla/">Rumor: Sega Vintage Collection coming to XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 18:32:00 EST. It's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/hawx-takes-to-the-skies/">rumored for a while now</a>, but <em>Tom Clancy's HAWX</em> still appears to be circling the Wii. See, there's this listing for the game over at Ubisoft's official site, complete with a March 2009 release date. But, before you start jumping up and down with joy and spill coffee all over your computer, know that there are a couple things making us uneasy about all of this.<br /><br />First of all, there isn't much on the listing -- box art, a release window, some key features, and a link to the game's official site. Secondly, those features listed look identical to the PS3/360 versions of the game. Drop-in and drop-out gameplay doesn't really sound like a Wii game, seeing as how we've not really heard of any game incorporating that feature (unless you want to count <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/wii-fanboy-review-animal-crossing-city-folk/"><em>Animal Crossing: City Folk</em></a> ). Finally, there's no mention of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiimote">Wiimote</a>. Usually, when a publisher is putting a game on the Wii (especially in the case of multiplatform games), it tends to boast about the Wiimote's power and how it affects the game. Nothing like that here.<br /><br />But, you know, if it turns out to be true, then consider us <em>pumped</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/rumor-ubisofts-hawx-flies-over-to-wii/">Rumor: Ubisoft's HAWX flies over to Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 14:00:00 EST. You have a <em>cool gizmo</em>, a highly desired <em>whatchamacallit</em> and everyone that has ever met you is <em>incredibly jealous</em>. Well, your life is about to get a whole lot better, as rumor has it Apple is looking into <a href="http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/iPhone+news/news.asp?c=11248">creating a premium section for iPhone games</a> on the App store.<br /><br />The word on the street is that these premium games would also fetch a premium price: $19.99. This dedicated area would only be restricted to a small number of the platform's larger publishers. Of course, neither Apple nor any of the larger publishers developing for the iPhone (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gameloft">Gameloft</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ea">EA</a>) were willing to comment on the story.<br /><br />When will we know more? PocketGamer directs our attention to WWDC (Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference) in June, a likely target for any such announcement.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/rumor-apple-planning-premium-games-section-in-iPhone-app-store/">Rumor: Apple planning 'premium' games section in iPhone App store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jan 2009 12:27:00 EST. <div align="left">Thanks to a pre-order listing over on <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73790">Gamestop.com</a>, we're under the impression that Microsoft and Bioware will be re-releasing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect"><em>Mass Effect</em></a> sometime next month as a value priced two disc special edition.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />According to the pre-order listing, the "<em>Mass Effect </em>Two-Disc Edition" will release on February 10th for an eyebrow raising low price of $19.99. We're suspicious of the price because this new edition will not only come with the <em>Mass Effect </em>game disc, but the second disc will come packed with a documentary, design galleries, game trailers, music and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/dont-forget-mass-effect-dlc-releases-today/">Bring Down The Sky</a> downloadable content expansion. At this point, we don't even have confirmation that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/rumor-ea-sets-pandemic-studios-australia-free/">Pandemic Brisbane</a> is gone, but according to a report from <a href="http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2009/01/how_pandemics_dark_knight_turned_into_a_nightmare.html">Kotaku Australia</a>, the axe dropped after the studio couldn't finish the oft-rumored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dark-knight"><em>Dark Knight</em></a> game in time for the film's DVD / Blu-ray release. Blame allegedly goes to the short timeframe allotted to development and a lack of technology / tools needed to make the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/rumor-dark-knight-to-prowl-gta-style-city/">open-world</a> title the team had in mind.<br /><br />Reportedly, a second team was working on an open-world Wii title and managed to retain rights to the project after the studio closed. We're still waiting to discover the studio's fate, but in the meantime, the report is definitely worth a read. After the break, check out footage from a <em>different</em> -- some would say fake -- <em>Dark Knight</em> game.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/16/rumor-tech-issues-ruined-dark-knight-game-pushed-pandemic-au-t/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rumor: Tech issues ruined Dark Knight game, pushed Pandemic AU to ruin</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/16/rumor-tech-issues-ruined-dark-knight-game-pushed-pandemic-au-t/">Rumor: Tech issues ruined Dark Knight game, pushed Pandemic AU to ruin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Jan 2009 12:58:00 EST. <div align="left"><strong>Update:</strong> According to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/guitar-hero-metallica-confirmed-for-may">Eurogamer</a>, Activision has informed them that GH: Metallica will be releasing in May. Well, in Europe at least.<br /><br />If online retail listings or internal retail documentation can be trusted, those awaiting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-metallica"><em>Guitar Hero: Metallica</em>'s</a> release should circle (with a pencil) March 29th as an important date.<br /></div>
</div>
<br /><a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73601">Gamestop.com</a> and an internal Gamestop POS sheet obtained by the <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/rumortoid-guitar-hero-metallica-street-dated-for-march-29-117928.phtml">Destructoid</a> crew have Metallica's own <em>Guitar Hero </em>edition releasing to all platforms on the last Sunday in March. Traditionally, retailer supplied video game release dates are only 12.4% correct, but we're optimistic on this one. Metallica releasing in March? It sorta makes sense.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/rumor-gh-metallica-to-rock-retail-march-29th/">Rumor: GH: Metallica to rock retail March 29th [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 10:15:00 EST. The price cut, says Pachter, is likely to come on the heels of a price cut for Sony's Playstation 3, which he believes will drop to $299 in April. In response, Pachter expects the Xbox 360 Pro model (which currently comes packed with a 60GB hard drive) to drop to $249. While the article doesn't mention the Xbox 360 Arcade or Elite, we'd say it's a safe bet that they'll also drop in price whenever the Pro does. What about the Wii, you say? Don't expect a price cut until demand starts to decline (so, like, never?).<br /><br />It's worth noting that Pachter's not the only one predicting a PS3 price cut. Even Microsoft is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/ms-predicts-a-playstation-3-price-cut-soon/">predicting one</a> in the near future. Assuming that happens, it only makes sense that Microsoft would follow suit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/pachter-predicts-360-price-cut-by-e3-2009/">Pachter predicts 360 price cut by E3 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 13:15:00 EST. <div align="left">Juicy rumor news coming from <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/crackdown-2-rumors-fly-new-dev-formation">Edge Online</a> is that a sequel to Realtime Worlds' superhuman destructo'fest <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crackdown">Crackdown</a> </em>is in development, but not by Realtime. They're busy with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/apb"><em>All Points Bulletin</em></a>.</div>
</div>
<br />
As rumor goes, <em>Crackdown 2</em> is supposedly in development by the newly formed (and unofficially announced) Ruffian Games, a team comprised of a few "key" ex-Realtime Worlds employees. As is the norm, Microsoft isn't saying a darn thing. Though, if true, we hope <em>Crackdown 2</em>'s release gets us access to the <em>Halo 4</em> beta.<br />

Oops? The rehearsal footage supposedly showed new Combustible Map Pack DLC for <em>Gears 2</em> that's set to release in early Monday morning. No other details were revealed, but we have a hunch we'll be seeing an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/possible-gears-2-imulsion-map-dlc-pics-surface/">Imulsion map</a> among the mix. Seeing that the live feed is no longer active (or crippled under the bandwith strain), we can't verify the DLC announcement or its release, so keep your eyes glued to Spike TV tonight at 9PM eastern.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/14/rumor-gears-2-combustible-dlc-releases-soon/">Rumor: Gears 2 Combustible DLC releases soon!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 14 Dec 2008 18:31:00 EST. <br />Supposedly featured in the latest issue of Game Informer are concrete <span style="font-style: italic;">GH: Metallica </span>details, including the reveal of a new "expert plus" drum mode that'll test any drummer's skills with dual kick pedals that'll work with the <em>World Tour</em> drum kit. <div align="left">Even though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> released to retail about a month ago, that doesn't stop the sequel rumor mill from a churning. The latest <em>Gears </em>rumor to surface is word that <em>Gears of War 3 </em>is in development and <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=203687">EGM claims</a> will be ready for release Christmas 2010. Even more rumor worthy, EGM adds that the third <em>Gears </em>installment will utilize a "<span class="text_article_body">five player co-op experience", which we're guessing is co-op campaign over Live.</span><br /></div>
<span class="text_article_body"></span></div>
<span class="text_article_body"><br />But don't get too excited, because these exciting (and somewhat early) <em>Gears 3</em> rumors have already been shot down by Epic's Mark Rein. Rein informed <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=334533">Eurogamer</a> that the rumors are "total nonsense," adding that "</span>we're still working on improvements to Gears 2." Beyond <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/rumor-gears-of-war-3-in-2010-5-player-co-op/ "><em>Gears of War 3</em> for 2010</a>, the January 2009 issue of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/new-york-times-ziff-davis-considering-online-only-future-for-eg/">future</a>-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/exclusive-ugo-in-high-level-talks-to-buy-1up-egm-not-part-of-d/">uncertain</a> EGM contains a handful of other rumors to pique your interest (via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=344955">NeoGAF</a>). Top of that list? A spiritual sequel to <em>Rez</em> is coming from creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who can't make an actual sequel beacuse the IP is owned by Sega. Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment recently announced a music-infused project <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/atari-announces-mizuguchis-qj-for-wii-q3-comp/">codenamed "QJ"</a> for Wii, though it may be unrelated.<br /><br />Additionally, the issue also asserted that Spielberg's mysterious EA Project LMNO is on hold at the moment. At the end of October, EA denied speculation that there had been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/ea-denies-rumored-spielberg-project-lmno-layoffs/">layoffs related to the title</a>. The remaining rumor-mongering includes a new <em>Rifts-</em>licensed game in 2010 (the last one was on N-Gage) and a large co-publisher for Tecmo's PlayStation 3 exclusive <em>Quantum Theory.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/rumors-rez-sequel-spielbergs-lmno-on-hold-and-more-from-egm/">Rumors: Rez sequel, Spielberg's LMNO on hold and more from EGM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 15:50:00 EST. <div align="left">In Xbox Live Arcade news that exists in the grey area between rumor and factual information, word on the interwebs is that Q Entertainment's <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/m/meteoswarsxboxlivearcade/"><em>Meteos Wars</em></a> and Namco's <em>PowerUP Forever</em> will be headed to the XBLA next Wednesday, December 10th.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />The news actually comes from the official developer / publisher websites, including Namco's official <a href="http://www.bngi-channel.jp/xbox360_live/title/powerup_forever/"><em>PowerUP Forever</em> page</a> and Q's newly launched <a href="http://www.meteoswars.com/main.html?language=EN"><em>Meteos Wars </em>website</a>. The only reason we're slapping a rumor on these games' rather official release dates is the fact that Microsoft has been known to make last minute XBLA release switcheroos. In our eyes, until we hear XBLA release dates from Microsoft, they aren't official.<strong><br /><br /></strong>[Thanks, sacra]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.meteoswars.com/main.html?language=EN">Source</a> - Meteos Wars<br /><a href="http://www.bngi-channel.jp/xbox360_live/title/powerup_forever/">Source</a> - PowerUP Forever<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/06/rumor-meteos-wars-and-powerup-forever-xbla-bound-next-week/">Rumor: Meteos Wars and PowerUP Forever XBLA bound next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Dec 2008 15:00:00 EST. <div align="left"><strong>Update:</strong> Our fanboyism clouded our thoughts, this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/17/rumor-busted-metal-gear-not-coming-to-the-360/">rumor is FALSE</a>.<br /><br />What do you get when you mix an official <a href="http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/mgst/?ref=kjp_jp"><em>Metal Gear </em>website</a> with neon green color and a power button that looks similar to the Xbox 360's ring of light? That's correct, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rumor">rumor</a> that the next <em>Metal Gear </em>game will be releasing on the Xbox 360!<br /></div>
</div>
<br />Over on the official Japanese Konami <a href="http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/mgst/?ref=kjp_jp">website</a>, there's a webpage that is nothing more than the image you see above with text that reads "A Next Metal Gear Is ...". Nothing special, except for the fact that this lil' teaser site is done in "signature" Xbox 360 green and that the weird exclamation point math problem includes a picture of a power button that could be seen as similar to the 360's ring of light. Of course, Konami is keeping quiet to what the website is all about, but we'll give some advice anyway: Don't get your hopes up. <br /><br />[Thanks, to everyone that sent this in]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/05/rumor-next-metal-gear-an-xbox-release/">Rumor: Next Metal Gear an Xbox release [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Dec 2008 10:00:00 EST. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe responded back to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=318243">Eurogamer</a> who got in touch regarding a certain <a href="http://www.dpadmagazine.com/2008/11/22/huge-sony-info-blowout/">D+Pad article</a> which supposedly outlines SCEE's strategy for 2009. The company communicated that the information in the article was only "rumor and speculation." D+Pad's source claims to have attended a Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing which was held this past Saturday in London.<br /><br />The rumored content suggests that Sony is making plans for a PS3 price cut in March 2009. Also of note, PSP versions of key PS3 titles such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/motorstorm"><em>MotorStorm</em></a> were said to be shown at the briefing. Even better still, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-3"><em>God of War III</em></a> were also apparently shown with <em>U2</em> looking much like the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted"><em>Uncharted</em></a> and <em>GoW3</em> just amazing the Hades out of the informant. Noting that reliable <a href="http://criminalcrackdown.blogspot.com/2008/11/vgxpowtf.html">David Jaffe</a> also recently saw<em> GoW3</em> footage and talked a bit about it, then perhaps there might be some merit to these rumors after all.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/sony-calls-2009-corporate-plans-info-leak-a-rumor/">Sony calls '2009 corporate plans' info leak a rumor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 08:45:00 EST. Another day, another hint at <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet">LittleBigPlanet</a> </em>coming to PSP. The latest rumor mongering comes from <em>EGM</em> (via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=341881">NeoGAF</a>), whose December issue suggests a PSP version will debut in 2009 -- supposedly, it'll be "fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience." What it won't have, it seems, is Media Molecule at the helm, as the developer is rumored to be working on an online RPG (in addition to a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/27/littlebigplanet-sequel-underway-as-first-game-is-powered-on/"><em>LBP </em>sequel</a>?). <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/rumor-littlebigplanet-coming-to-the-psp/">Previous mutterings</a> pointed the finger at Sony's Studio Liverpool (<em>WipEout Pulse</em>) being the developer.<br /><br />Other juicy gossip from the 'zine: Square Enix has quietly canceled <em>Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers</em> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/22/gdc08-square-enix-no-comments-ffcc-crystal-bearers/">gasp!</a>), Capcom is bringing 1980s side-scrolling shooter <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Worlds"><em>Forgotten Worlds</em></a> to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/1942-joint-strike-set-to-deploy-7-23-to-xbla-7-24-to-psn/">more</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/bionic-commando-rearmed-scores-super-first-week-sales/">gasps!</a>) and Silicon Knight's unannounced Sega title is now looking for a new publisher. December's <em>EGM</em> should soon be on newsstands everywhere.<strong> Update: </strong>As noted in the comments section (thanks ... <em>Fer-nan-do</em>), Square Enix has <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=62949">released a statement</a> denying the cancellation of <em>Crystal Bearer</em>. The publisher "has every intention of releasing it" but no date is currently known.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/rumor-roundup-littlebigplanet-psp-in-2009-and-more-from-decembe/">Rumor Roundup: LittleBigPlanet PSP in 2009 and more from December's EGM </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 14:00:00 EST. <div align="left">EGM's Quartermann is at it again. The latest gossip from the infamous rumormonger are as follows (via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5086620/lbp-4-psp-wtf">Kotaku</a>): "The <em>LBP</em> universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version: Q-Mann hears it's fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 <em>LBP</em> experience."<br /><br />No further details were given. However, this is consistent with the word on the street -- we have already heard two similar rumors. An insider told CVG <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/rumor-littlebigplanet-in-development-for-psp/">back in April</a> Studio Liverpool will be developing the handheld version while in October we saw a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/job-listing-reveals-more-on-littlebigplanet-psp-rumor/">job listing on SCEE's website</a> seeking a "PSP game engine lead" to oversee "<em>LittleBigPlanet</em> projects." Maybe this third time is the charm?</div>

Now that we've all recovered from Nintendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/nintendo-will-publish-the-conduit/">first-party / first-person</a> gaffe, we've received word that <em>The Conduit</em> may have found a spiky blue publisher. First off, the facts: developer High Voltage has told <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/924/924728p1.html">IGN</a> that it has "decided on" a publisher for its space-themed first-person shooter for the Wii and that it will be revealed before the end of the week.<br /><br />As to whom it might be, IGN also notes that Sega has recently hosted a folder labeled "The Conduit" on its <a href="ftp://segapr.segaamerica.com/">public FTP site</a> (it has since been removed). While that seems like a pretty incriminating clue, we remain doubtful until we see an official press release. Fortunately, we don't have to wait much longer.

Is K really thinking about making a full-blown first person shooter? Rumor king of EGM-fame Q seems to think so. Big K's been spotted visiting developers Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Guerilla Games. Just who knows what's going on behind-the-scenes? This wouldn't have anything to do with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/mgs4s-payton-joins-a-different-kind-of-mgs/">R going away</a> does it? Rival shooters perhaps? Back in April we've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/rumor-littlebigplanet-in-development-for-psp/">heard rumors</a> that the huge PS3 title out in the latter half of this month, <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>, would be getting its very own PSP title. Today, reader libertine pointed us to a SCEE job listing which refers to a position for "PSP game engine lead" whose job is to oversee "<em>LittleBigPlanet</em> projects." Whatever could this mean? Can we expect a handheld version of the dream-creation sim or can we expect to see some sort of <em>LBP</em> PS3-to-PSP integration?<br /><br />[Thanks libertine!]<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=249280">Eurogamer</a> had a chat with Media Molecule's Mark Healy where-in the MM co-founder legitimizes the possibility of <em>LBP</em> on PSP: "There's definitely scope for a PSP version. We've had discussions and talks, [but] nothing concrete at the moment."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/job-listing-reveals-more-on-littlebigplanet-psp-rumor/">Job listing reveals more on LittleBigPlanet PSP rumor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Oct 2008 08:00:00 EST. <div align="left">With yesterday's release of the latest <em>Gears of War 2</em>'s video featurette <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/video-gears-of-war-2s-weapons-of-war/">"Weapons of War"</a>, we got a glimpse of an evil, staff wielding, predator-looking Locust baddie which is known around the <em>Gears </em>community as the <a href="http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Skorge">"Skorge"</a>. He's a total "badass" Locust that any <em>Gears </em>loving fanboy would probably be honored to use as a character in multiplayer. A wish that just may come true.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />The screen you see above was grabbed from the latest video featurette and showcases a portrait icon (sourced from the top left of the screen) that depicts the other team's leader. And (big surprise) it looks eerily familiar to a certain Skorge. Is this confirmation of the Skorge predator in <em>Gears 2 </em>multiplayer? Not exactly, but it does make a good case for his multiplayer appearance.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/18/rumor-skorge-predator-playable-in-gears-2-mp/">Rumor: Skorge predator playable in Gears 2 mp</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Sep 2008 12:00:00 EST. <br />In an interview with <a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/09/16/slash-on-his-solo-lp-guitar-hero-and-how-guns-n-roses-changed-fans-lives/">Rolling Stone</a>, legendary guitarist Slash may have let slip that Activision is working on a Hendrix edition when commenting about his support for the <em>Guitar Hero</em> franchise. "Having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great." Sounds to us like we're in for a heaping helping of <em>Guitar Hero</em> in 2009. Please, pass the gravy.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/guitar-hero-hendrix-in-the-works-says-slash/?biz=1%3CBR%3E">GameDaily</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/18/rumor-slash-lets-slip-plans-for-for-gh-hendrix/">Rumor: Slash lets slip plans for for GH: Hendrix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Sep 2008 10:00:00 EST. Word on the <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/54761">collective</a> <a href="http://kotaku.com/5050561/new-halo-helmed-by-mgs4-producer">streets</a> is that former Kojima Productions employee and <em>Metal Gears Solid 4</em> co-producer Ryan Payton is currently working on the mysterious Peter Jackson <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/07/peter-jackson-working-on-episodic-halo-content/"><em>Halo </em>Project</a>. <br /><br />Supposedly, Payton has been given a "creative director" title on the "<em>Halo: Chronicles</em>" project which is a title that's way too vague for us to speculate his specific role. That is, if this rumor isn't made entirely out of lies. Our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/rumor-mgs4s-ryan-payton-directing-new-halo-project/">Joystiq mother ship</a> has contacted Ryan Payton for comment, so let's wait and see what kind of answers we get.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamestooge.com/2008/09/16/rumor-new-halo-being-developed-by-mgs4-co-producer/">Game Stooge</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/rumor-mgs4-co-producer-working-on-halo-title/">Rumor: MGS4 co-producer working on Halo title</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 17:00:00 EST. Though, the special insider source couldn't confirm what either the Bungie or Rare projects will be, which sort of puts an injection of "bullcrap" into this rumor. Coincidentally, next Thursday is <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span>'s anniversary, so take that for whatever it's worth. Very interesting stuff indeed ...<br /><br />Make your way to the break to read GAMER.tm's insider source reveal seeing that their website is currently in a dead state. Just try not getting your hopes up yet.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?s=8a61441b49b047aee209ea2c696c40be&amp;t=335213">NeoGAF</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/rumor-bungie-and-rare-set-to-announce-new-projects-next-week/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rumor: Bungie and Rare set to announce new projects next week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/rumor-bungie-and-rare-set-to-announce-new-projects-next-week/">Rumor: Bungie and Rare set to announce new projects next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 13:00:00 EST.
