 <em>Dragon's Dogma</em> vanilla and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><em>Dark Arisen</em></a> players alike, take heed. A recent title update for Capcom's fantasy RPG seems to be corrupting save files for some users.<br />
<br />
If you haven't downloaded the update yet, Capcom suggests copying your data to the cloud or an external device before patching the game. Capcom promises to have a solution "as quickly as possible."<br />
<br />
 <em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em> is an Xbox 360 and PS3 expansion to Capcom's 2012 outing, a retail disc release that includes additional content and a remastered version of the base <em>Dragon's Dogma </em>game. The remastered version of <em>Dragon's Dogma</em> includes a new fast-travel system on top of additional items and gear, but sadly no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/thats-action-baby-dragons-dogmas-surreal-tech-demo/">dancing cyclopes</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/30/psa-dragons-dogma-and-dark-arisen-title-updates-corrupting-saves/">PSA: Dragon's Dogma and Dark Arisen title updates corrupting saves</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Apr 2013 22:15:00 EST. The fact that this is even a possibility is pretty amazing to us.<br /><br />"We are readying the system, yes, to transfer saves and everything you've bought," designer Katsuya Eguchi. So it looks like the idea of transferring WiiWare, Virtual Console and save data content from the Wii to the Wii U is not the crazy pipe dream we once thought.<br /><br />[Note: Image taken from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/05/live-from-nintendos-e3-2012-press-conference/">today's Nintendo liveblog</a>.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/05/nintendo-readying-the-system-to-transfer-wiiware-vc-and-wii-s/">Nintendo 'readying the system' to transfer WiiWare, VC and Wii saves to Wii U</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Jun 2012 22:22:00 EST. Some PlayStation Vita games will let you save to the internal memory on the cartridge; others require you to have an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/the-hidden-costs-of-playstation-vita-3ds-esque-battery-life-and/">external memory card</a>, in a situation reminiscent of the Nintendo 64's confusing "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64_accessories#Controller_Pak">Controller Pak</a>." <a href="http://www.kotaku.jp/2011/10/playstation_vita_savedata.html">Kotaku Japan</a> compiled a list of the Japanese launch games and their memory requirements, allowing us to see how common the external memory requirement is.<br />
<br />
Known launch window games requiring separate memory cards include <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/ridge-racer-vita">Ridge Racer</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/uncharted-golden-abyss">Uncharted: Golden Abyss</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/disgaea-3-return">Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention</a></em>, Sega's golf game <a href="http://www.segafans.com/2011/10/08/segas-new-vita-doll-golf-game-field/"><em>@Field</em></a>, <em>Hot Shots Golf 6</em>, the AR title <a href="http://www.sony.jp/CorporateCruise/Press/201109/11-0914/"><em>Monster Radar</em></a>, and the assuredly Japan-only <a href="http://www.d3p.co.jp/dreamclub_ngp/"><em>Dream Club Zero Portable</em></a>. Everything else saves to memory included on the game itself -- with one exception: the status of (sigh) <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/touch-my-katamari"><em>Touch My Katamari</em></a> is unannounced.<br />
<br />
That's for the retail versions of these games. Here's the list of games whose PSN versions require you to use an external memory card for save data:

It turns out there is a (previously undocumented) way to erase save data in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pac-man-and-galaga-dimensions"><em>Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions</em></a> on the 3DS, despite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/27/pac-man-and-galaga-dimensions-save-files-are-permanent-unable-to/">reports to the contrary</a> last week. It's a bit more complicated than simply diving into the options menu. Upon start-up, players can input the command "ABXYLR," which will wipe the save data from the cartridge. <br />
<br />
"There has been a miscommunication at our level," a Namco Bandai representative told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-02-pac-man-3ds-does-let-you-delete-saves">Eurogamer</a> today. "Thanks for your understanding." The rep then shouted "Aye bee ex why el arrr" and vanished in a cloud of smoke.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/02/pac-man-and-galaga-3ds-save-data-can-be-erased-after-all/">Pac-Man and Galaga 3DS save data can be erased after all</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 12:00:00 EST. One minute we were best buddies, inseparable and joined at the hip; in just an instant, however, the save data became corrupt and everything was lost. All unlocked galaxies and drone level-ups were gone, along with high scores and gold medals. Instead of starting over, <em>Geometry Wars</em> has remained untouched ever since.<br /><br />Have you ever lost your data in a DS game? And if you haven't faced corruptions, have you played any games that had bugs or glitches that made you want to stop playing? Even better, have you experienced any <span style="font-style: italic;">funny</span> glitches in your games? <br /><br />Or, has your time on the DS managed to be bug and problem free? If so, we envy you!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/19/ds-daily-corruptions-bugs-and-glitches/">DS Daily: Corruptions, bugs, and glitches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Jan 2008 10:30:00 EST.
