Since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-25"><em>Madden NFL 25</em></a> <s>skipped 12 years</s> is named to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary, it shouldn't be surprising that EA Sports recently unveiled a special Anniversary Edition. What is a little surprising are the contents of the special edition, which includes a free one-year subscription for DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket service, allowing fans to watch every out-of-market NFL game throughout the season.<br />
<br />
EA Sports tells us that the subscription is limited to the NFL Sunday Ticket computer, tablet and mobile service. Additionally, those who are able to receive DirecTV service in their area can get $10 off per month for the service, which starts at $225, as well as a free subscription to the higher-tier NFL Sunday Ticket MAX.<br />
<br />
The Anniversary Edition of <em>Madden 25</em> is exclusive to Amazon, and limited to 50,000 copies on each of the game's platforms, Xbox 360 and PS3 (100,000 copies total). It will also include complimentary Madden Ultimate Team card packs every week of the NFL's 17-week regular season. <em>Madden 25</em>'s Anniversary Edition is available to pre-order now on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Madden-NFL-25-Xbox-360/dp/B00AY1CT4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1368810093&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=madden+nfl+25">Amazon</a> for $99.99.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/limited-amazon-exclusive-madden-25-special-edition-includes-free/">Limited Amazon-exclusive Madden 25 special edition includes free Sunday Ticket subscription</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 13:21:00 EST. The DLC, due this summer for a mysteriously invisible price, adds a flashback level starring the tattoo artist Dosan, a new equippable play style including a "nonlethal takedown ability," a new stealth-focused item, and a "more direct" new item.<br /><br />As a "Criterion Collection" addition, Klei also recorded developer commentary, which can be accessed at "commentary nodes" throughout the game, in six different languages.<br /><br />If you successfully infiltrate PAX East, you'll be able to get a sneaking peek at the Special Edition at Klei's booth. It will be released on both Steam and XBLA.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/mark-of-the-ninja-special-edition-dlc-adds-flashback-level-ne/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mark of the Ninja 'Special Edition' DLC adds flashback level, new play style</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/mark-of-the-ninja-special-edition-dlc-adds-flashback-level-ne/">Mark of the Ninja 'Special Edition' DLC adds flashback level, new play style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Mar 2013 13:45:00 EST. What you lose in radio-controlled miniature vehicles, you gain in choice, as there are four different special editions.<br /><br />The 5th Freedom Edition is exclusive to GAME in the UK and GameStop in Ireland, and comes with a Sam Fisher figurine, <em>Splinter Cell Echoes</em> graphic novel, two co-op maps, and some in-game gear, all in a steelbook case (well, except for the in-game items that exist only in a digital state).<br /><br />The 5th Freedom Silver Edition, exclusive to <a href="http://shop.ubi.com/promo/92574600">Uplay</a>, is like the other 5th Freedom, but with a fancier steelbook and a silver Sam Fisher.<br /><br />The Ultimatum Edition comes with a digital watch, a shorter selection of Splinter Cell Echoes, and a bit less unlockable gear, along with a really silly name. Finally, the Upper Echelon Day 1 Edition comes with a bunch of digital stuff: the maps, some gold goggles, the "legendary Upper Echelon Suit," and more. It's exclusive to GAME in the UK and Xtravision in Ireland.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-blacklist-collectors-editions-uk/">Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Collector's Editions - UK)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-blacklist-collectors-editions-uk/#5705045"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/scbcollectored5thfreedomuk_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-blacklist-collectors-editions-uk/#5705046"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/scbcollectoredultimatumeditionuk_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-blacklist-collectors-editions-uk/#5705047"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/scblcollectored5thfreedomsilverukv9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-blacklist-collectors-editions-uk/#5705048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/scblcollectoredupperechelonukv2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/12/splinter-cell-blacklists-emea-special-editions-include-watches/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Splinter Cell: Blacklist's EMEA special editions include watches, figurines, no planes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/12/splinter-cell-blacklists-emea-special-editions-include-watches/">Splinter Cell: Blacklist's EMEA special editions include watches, figurines, no planes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Mar 2013 10:30:00 EST. It comes with a steelbook case featuring Ellie and Joel, and includes the Sights and Sounds DLC pack. Sights and Sounds comes with the game's original soundtrack from Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla, a dynamic theme for PS3, and the Winter Joel and Winter Ellie PSN avatars.<br /><br />The Post-Pandemic Edition, shown below, is available only at <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-last+of+us,135">GameStop</a>, and it includes the steelbook case and <em>American Dreams </em>comic from the Survival Edition. The bulk of its price seems to come from a 12-inch statue of Joel and Ellie from Project Triforce, which has an estimated retail value of $200. Post-Pandemic comes with the Sights and Sounds DLC and the Survival multiplayer DLC pack (<em>that's </em>not confusing), which has bonus XP, a melee booster, in-game currency, customizable items, and bonus Ellie and Joel skins once the game is completed.<br /><br />These both differ from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/22/the-last-of-us-uk-special-editions-come-in-ellie-joel-flavors/">UK special editions</a> of <em>The Last of Us</em>, also announced today.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/22/the-last-of-us-special-editions-in-us-all-about-survival-post-p/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Last of Us special editions in US all about Survival, Post-Pandemics</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/22/the-last-of-us-special-editions-in-us-all-about-survival-post-p/">The Last of Us special editions in US all about Survival, Post-Pandemics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jan 2013 16:00:00 EST. The Ellie Edition, pictured above, is available only at GAME, and includes a mini artbook, the first issue of Dark Horse's <em>The Last of Us: American Dreams</em>, the Survival multiplayer DLC pack, the Sights and Sounds DLC pack, a LittleBigPlanet Ellie skin, and the game package, collectable poster and Dualshock skin featuring Ellie's face.<br /><br />The Joel Edition contains exactly the same things, but with Joel's face and skin (<em>ew</em>) instead of Ellie's; take a look at that version below. The Survival DLC pack includes bonus XP, a melee booster, in-game currency and customizable character items for multiplayer, and bonus Joel and Ellie skins after the single-player game is completed. The Sights and Sounds pack features the official soundtrack from Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla, a dynamic theme for PS3 and the Winter Joel and Ellie PSN avatars.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/10/the-last-of-us-pre-order-bonuses-detailed-trailer-unveiled/">All pre-orders</a>, from any retailer in the UK or US, get the Sights and Sounds DLC pack. Everything! There's also a "digital strategy map" and bundled DLC for the game. The contents of the $80 collection were chosen by a fan survey.<br /><br />According to Deep Silver, the Rigor Mortis Edition is available for pre-order now in North and Latin America in "extremely limited" quantities. There are only so many tiny magnetic zombies out there to provide source material for those bottle openers, after all.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/10/dead-island-riptides-rigor-mortis-edition-has-a-case-of-zomb/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dead Island: Riptide's 'Rigor Mortis' edition has a case of zombies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/10/dead-island-riptides-rigor-mortis-edition-has-a-case-of-zomb/">Dead Island: Riptide's 'Rigor Mortis' edition has a case of zombies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Jan 2013 13:30:00 EST. Well, this is like that, but for an Xbox 360.<br /><br />Launching in March, the official <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tomb-raider-2013"><em>Tomb Raider</em></a> Limited Edition Wireless Controller will cost $60 and come bundled with a code for exclusive character DLC; a hooded, goggled archer that can be seen in the video above. The controller itself features multiple layers of paint and <em>laser etching</em>, so not only does it look beat to hell but it'll feel that way too.<br /><br />As per usual with special edition Xbox 360 pads, it's also equipped with one of those nifty transforming D-pads, though whether the D-pad has been artificially aged like a too-expensive guitar replica is unknown.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/10/tomb-raider-360-controller-is-rough-tumble-rumbles/">Tomb Raider 360 controller is rough, tumble, rumbles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Jan 2013 12:32:00 EST. Boys traditionally don't give Valentines to girls, for instance; women are the primary gift-givers, and generally speaking giving anything other than chocolate is atypical.<br /><br />There's also two new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lollipop-chainsaw"><em>Lollipop Chainsaw</em></a> special editions coming out exclusively in Japan this Valentine's Day, but that's less of a cultural difference and more of a marketing thing. The game's new "Premium Edition" will cost &yen;3,980 (about $48) and will include codes to unlock costumes and additional character voices.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the &yen;4,980 ($60ish) "Valentine Edition" includes a "Happy Valentine Disc," which contains a PC desktop Juliet clock, wallpapers and various gravure pictures of the game's official cosplay models. It also comes with a "Premium Movie Disc" full of trailers and cinematics, as well as a <em>Lollipop Chainsaw</em> manga and the Premium Edition's unlock codes.<br /><br />No word yet on a potential North American release of either version, but we <em>have</em> learned that the Japanese phrase "義理チョコ" (<em>giri-choko</em>) means "obligatory gift chocolate," which is probably more entertaining in the long run.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/06/lollipop-chainsaw-premium-and-valentine-editions-coming-to-j/">Lollipop Chainsaw 'Premium' and 'Valentine' editions coming to Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Dec 2012 20:30:00 EST. The <em>Yakuza 5</em> "Emblem Edition" (above) features gold emblems of the virtual crime families featured in the series around the edges of the 250GB system, and a gold controller to match, along with a special themed USB drive. It's due in Japan December 6.<br /><br />The <em>Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2</em> "Legend Edition" has character art in white along the periphery of the black system, with a controller that is supposed to feature a Big Dipper design, but which looks a lot like it's been pooped on by birds. It'll be released on December 20.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/02/yakuza-5-and-fist-of-the-north-star-inspire-interesting-ps3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Yakuza 5 and Fist of the North Star inspire ... interesting PS3 special editions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/02/yakuza-5-and-fist-of-the-north-star-inspire-interesting-ps3/">Yakuza 5 and Fist of the North Star inspire ... interesting PS3 special editions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Oct 2012 09:45:00 EST. Meanwhile, North American folk can still expect to rain bloody death down upon their enemies on March 12.<br /><br />Non-North American revenge aficionados looking for something a little more substantial than just the game itself will have both Special and Collector's editions to choose from, which each contain varying levels of goodies, both in-game and out. The Collector's Edition is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/18/god-of-war-ascension-collectors-edition-now-up-for-pre-order-o/">identical to the North American version</a> and includes a steelbook case, eight-inch Kratos figure, digital copy of the soundtrack, a PS3 theme and avatars, a double multiplayer XP boost and a voucher for all future DLC.<br /><br />Special Edition, on the other hand, includes everything listed above except for the statuette and the DLC pass. Composed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massive_attack">Massive Attack</a> alumni <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Davidge">Neil Davidge</a>, the standard edition <em>Halo 4</em> soundtrack will encompass 15 tracks from the game's score in both physical and digital formats for $13.98.<br /><br />The Special Edition 2-Disc Box Set, on the other hand, will set you back quite a bit more. At $75, the package includes the standard soundtrack, a 14-track remix album (sorry, no Skrillex), a behind-the-scenes "Making of <em>Halo 4</em> Music" DVD and accompanying hardcover book with "composition notes from Neil Davidge plus exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and exclusive artwork images." The kit also comes with a 12-inch art print signed by Davidge, an honest-to-goodness <em>vinyl record</em> with Cortana and Master Chief on the disc itself, and a special shirt for your Xbox Live avatar.<br /><br />Whether your Halo-music monetary threshold is $14 or $75, both versions will be available at <a href="http://halowaypoint.com/halo4soundtrack">Halo Waypoint</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/22/halo-4-soundtrack-lands-oct-22-special-edition-runs-75/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halo 4 soundtrack lands Oct. 22, Special Edition runs $75</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/22/halo-4-soundtrack-lands-oct-22-special-edition-runs-75/">Halo 4 soundtrack lands Oct. 22, Special Edition runs $75</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Aug 2012 19:00:00 EST. As a result, the developer's celebrating with a special edition release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em></a> - "Academy Edition" - replete with the various car packs released since the launch in 2010.<br /><br />More specifically, you'll also get Polyphony Digital creative lead Kazunori Yamauchi's fancy Nissan GTR that he raced in real life during the most recent Nurburgring 24-hour race. If you bought it in real life, it'd cost <em>like a trillion dollars</em>, so this is probably the best way to get access.<br /><br />When the "Academy Edition" of <em>Gran Turismo 5</em> launches this September 26, it'll cost &euro;29.99/&pound;19.99. The game doesn't have a price or launch date in the US just yet, but we expect to hear more on that front in the coming days.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/25/gran-turismo-5-academy-edition-racing-to-stores-on-september-2/">Gran Turismo 5 'Academy Edition' racing to stores on September 26</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jul 2012 10:15:00 EST. The newly announced special edition comes with a clear 3DS case and a set of art cards that look like they can be slipped into said case, and five AR cards to unlock in-game Dream Eaters. All of this comes in a big box with a magnetic clasp.<br /><br />This edition shows one of the advantages of portable games: the limited edition boxes don't cost quite as much as those for console games.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/you-can-dream-drop-more-cash-for-a-mark-of-mastery-edition-of/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>You can Dream Drop more cash for a 'Mark of Mastery' edition of Kingdom Hearts 3D</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/you-can-dream-drop-more-cash-for-a-mark-of-mastery-edition-of/">You can Dream Drop more cash for a 'Mark of Mastery' edition of Kingdom Hearts 3D</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 May 2012 15:30:00 EST. Oh well, no toy guns for us! Said DLC, the "Agency Gun Pack," comprises a Jagd P22G pistol, a UMP SMG and an SPS 12 semi-automatic shotgun.<br /><br />The Professional Edition, announced for Europe today, also includes an art book, a making-of DVD, and a fancy clamshell box. We're due to get <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/hitman-absolution-to-get-obligatory-special-editions-pre-order/">some kind of special edition</a> in North America as well, but details haven't been announced yet.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> the North American release will have the same "Professional Edition." In addition, Square Enix announced retail-exclusive bonuses for Amazon (the "Bartoli Custom Pistol"), Best Buy (the "Bronson 1928M SMG"), GameStop (the "Agency Kazo TRG" sniper rifle), and Walmart (the "Krugermeier 2-2 Pistol").<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/">Hitman: Absolution (Pre-Order Items)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/#4957450"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/134hmapepackinelementsa_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/#4957451"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/135poibartoli_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/#4957452"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/136poibronson_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/#4957453"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/137poikrugermeier_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/hitman-absolution-pre-order-items/#4957454"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/138poisniper_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/11/hitman-absolution-gets-a-well-dressed-professional-edition-in/">Hitman: Absolution gets a well-dressed 'Professional Edition' [update: EU and NA]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Apr 2012 10:30:00 EST. The biggest news nuggest is the Mechromancer, a class that will be added to the game as DLC after launch and free to those who pre-order. The Mechromancer is a female human/machine hybrid, which is totally great because we wrote all of this erotic Claptrap fan-fiction that would totally explain -- <em>ahem</em>, sorry. She will also have a friend: a giant robot called D374-TP (Deathtrap).<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/04/08/new-borderlands-2-info-at-pax-east.aspx">Game Informer</a> was at the panel - all of us were too busy scurrying back to our respective journalizing holes to attend today - and says that in addition to the Mechromancer, there will be options to customize the look of your character. Costumes and custom gear will be earned when players complete missions and challenges.<br /><br />Finally, there will be a special edition of <em>Borderlands 2</em> that will retail for $149.99. It's packaged in a big plastic loot box replete with a Marcus Kincaid bobblehead and, obviously, a copy of <em>Borderlands 2</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/09/borderlands-2-conjures-up-mechromancer-class-adds-character-cus/">Borderlands 2 conjures up Mechromancer class, adds character customization options</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Apr 2012 08:30:00 EST. We also spend quite a bit of time looking up how to awkwardly use terms from terrible rap songs.<br /><br />Given that, you'll understand our excitement this afternoon over Microsoft's announcement of chromed out Xbox 360 controllers. Better yet, said controllers feature the updated D-pad that Microsoft added in a new 360 controller <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/31/new-xbox-360-controller-dpad-release-date/">back in 2010</a>.<br /><br />As of now, the "Special Edition Chrome Series" wireless controllers will run $54.99 ($5 more than the usual wireless controller price) and are expected to be available at some point in "mid-May." Colors and availability vary by region, according to Major Nelson. Why anyone would want something other than what you see shining above, however, is beyond us.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/">Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Wireless Controllers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/#4934615"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/68929070387c2447eff4b-1333388101_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/#4934614"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/6892906812e32197c699b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/#4934616"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/7039002565a7ac7a02e1b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/#4934617"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/70390027415543c99e0co_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/xbox-360-special-edition-chrome-series-wireless-controllers/#4934618"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/70390027891f4bd9d12bo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/02/microsoft-goes-baller-with-chromed-out-360-controllers/">Microsoft goes baller with chromed out 360 controllers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2012 15:40:00 EST. We've gotten our eyes on the limited edition <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d"><em>Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater</em></a> 3DS once before, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/29/the-metal-gear-solid-snakeskin-3ds-is-not-to-be-eaten/">only a shallow glance</a> offered via Hideo Kojima's cell phone. Frankly, we wanted a better look, and now we've got it. Feast your eyes on that snakeskin embossed bad boy above! Hoo-ah!<br />
<br />
Unfortunately for us outside Japan, there won't be a lot of opportunity to actually purchase the unit. That kind of goes for the folks in Japan as well, as the only way to even have a chance to purchase the unit is by winning a raffle offered by Konami in February. The bundle will run &yen;22,980 ($298) for those lucky enough to grab one, and it'll come with the game itself, the fancy 3DS, a "snake-styled" 3DS, and two ... folders. Like, the kind you use in high school, except they have <em>MGS3</em> characters on them.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/20/metal-gear-solid-3ds-slithers-into-view-looks-snazzy/">Metal Gear Solid 3DS slithers into view, looks snazzy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jan 2012 13:00:00 EST. Despite its subtitle, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-3d">Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater</a> </em>should not encourage you to consume the snakeskin-embossed Nintendo 3DS coming out alongside the game in Japan. For starters, the device is a piece of electronics, and on top of that it's a rare, cool-looking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/28/metal-gear-solid-3d-hardware-bundle-inflitrating-japan/">limited edition 3DS</a>.<br />
<br />
Konami has yet to give the 3DS a full reveal, but the above image was teased via <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/Kojima_Hideo/status/152285338352627712">Hideo Kojima's Twitter account</a>, like most things MGS these days. No, really. <em>You get a troll</em>. Specifically, a 12.5" tall "Prismere Troll" statuette designed by McFarlane Toys, with the purchase of two of the newly announced Special Editions of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning"><em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em></a>.<br />
<br />
In all, there are three levels of specialness. For $80, you get a parchment map, a seven-piece dice set, replicas of the 40 "Destiny Cards" found in the game, a soundtrack, and DLC weapons that increase XP gained from "Fate Shift Kills." The $200 "Collector's Edition" adds the aforementioned troll and a concept art lithograph signed by Ken Rolston. This edition is limited to 700 units.<br />
<br />
For the person who is really sure <em>Reckoning</em> is his or her jam (despite never having played it), there's the $275 Signature Edition. That has all the other stuff, but the troll is "signed by Todd McFarlane, R.A. Salvatore or Curt Schilling," and you get a custom sketch by Todd McFarlane. There are only 300 of these to hand out.<br />
<br />
All three are available for pre-order <a href="http://limitededitions.reckoning.com/">here</a>. If you're a really true fan, of course, you'll buy one of each. The beefed up, sanded down version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/joe-danger"><em>Joe Danger</em></a> coming to Xbox Live Arcade (the "Special Edition") will apparently arrive on December 14 for 1200 MS Points ($15). Developer Hello Games revealed the date via Microsoft Studio's own <a href="http://playxbla.com/breaking-news-joe-danger-special-edition-hits-december-14th/">"playXBLA" blog</a>, where the dev team further cemented what has been added (and subtracted) to the upcoming re-release.<br />
<br />
Beyond the launch date announcement, Hello Games also gave out a brand new launch trailer and a whole variety of new screens. For those of you who have yet to check out <em>Joe Danger</em>, you're in for a real treat. For the rest of us, well, hey, more <em>Joe Danger</em>! If you're absolutely certain you'll want <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/max-payne-3"><em>Max Payne 3</em></a> in a really bad way, and you're already financially and emotionally prepared to drop a Benjamin on it, has Rockstar got the deal for you! Between now and January 15, roughly two months before the game's March release window, you'll be able to order the Max Payne 3 Special Edition, "while supplies last."<br />
<br />
What will your $100 pre-buy you, besides the game itself? Ready? Here goes: A 10" tall Max Payne statue; "game-inspired Original Still Life Art Prints," for your art collection; a bullet-shaped keychain with screw-off back (for your drugs!); the obligatory multiplayer character pack, including Max Payne favorites like Mona Sax and Vladimir Lem; the similarly obligatory multiplayer weapons pack; and lastly, the game's original soundtrack.<br />
<br />
Curiously, this Special Edition really is special, in that it actually is limited ("while supplies last") and won't be available after release. If you want to wait, be warned that eBay scalpers are probably circling the waters already.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/max-payne-3-special-edition/">Max Payne 3 (Special Edition)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/max-payne-3-special-edition/#4627216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/rsgmktmp3sexboxfob_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/max-payne-3-special-edition/#4627218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/rsgmktmp3seps3fob_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/max-payne-3-special-edition/#4627220"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/rsgmktmp3sepcfob_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/max-payne-3-special-edition/#4627222"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/rsgmktmp3seannouncement_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/max-payne-3-gets-100-special-edition-pre-order-only-until-janu/">Max Payne 3 gets $100 Special Edition, pre-order only until January 15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 12:12:00 EST. <br />
When I was young, I really liked <em>Jurassic Park</em>. Of the many, many JP toys I owned (I still have <a href="http://www.dinosaur-toys-collectors-guide.com/Rexford-Dinosaur-2010.html">one of these</a>), I remember one T-shirt in particular. On the front was a <em>sweet</em> raptor, and on the back was a map of Jurassic Park, including the locations of its dinosaurs. I spent weeks meticulously recreating said map, literally pixel by pixel, using Microsoft Paint - we didn't have <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/minecraft"><em>Minecraft</em></a> back then, and if we had, our computer wouldn't have been able to run it.<br />
<br />
And now Telltale goes and announces a <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-893">Deluxe Edition</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/jurassic-park"><em>Jurassic Park: The Game</em></a> for Mac and PC. The package is a veritable cornucopia of Jurassic Park memorabilia, including an InGen ID badge and field guide, a Jurassic Park staff patch and, best of all, a replica brochure from the movie <em>including the map</em>. The package can be pre-ordered for $40.<br />
<br />
But the point I'm trying to make is that someone at Telltale has either been tailing me for 18 years or, in a far more likely scenario, they found a <em>Being John Malkovich</em> door into my head. Get out, Telltale. Get out of my head.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/27/telltale-opens-the-gates-on-jurassic-park-deluxe-edition/">Telltale opens the gates on Jurassic Park Deluxe Edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Oct 2011 15:00:00 EST. In honor of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mario-and-sonic-at-the-london-2012-olympic-games"><em>Mario &amp; Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games</em></a>, Nintendo announced plans to launch a special blue Wii bundle in Europe this November. Despite the Sonic theme, the system (one of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/17/new-european-wii-model-loses-gamecube-compatibility/">new-model</a>, GameCube-free Wiis) is a lighter blue than the hedgehog. It will include the game, a matching Wii Remote Plus, and likely a Nunchuk in the same color.<br />
<br />
When Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/17/new-european-wii-model-loses-gamecube-compatibility/">announced</a> the new Wii configuration back in August, it suggested that other bundles would be on the way. We don't think it would only have been referring to this one -- which means we should look forward to more variants in Europe this holiday. We should also look forward to colossal sales from this game, as always!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/mario-and-sonic-go-to-europe-in-a-blue-wii-bundle/">Mario &amp; Sonic go to Europe in a blue Wii bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Oct 2011 09:26:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/size-five-games">Size Five Games</a>, formerly Zombie Cow, has <a href="http://www.sizefivegames.com/2011/09/23/announcing-ben-there-dan-that-special-edition/">announced</a> a new special edition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ben-there-dan-that"><em>Ben There, Dan That</em></a>. The charming point-and-click adventure has been revamped with graphical enhancements, a new soundtrack (by which we mean there <em>is</em> a soundtrack now) and lots of bonuses.<br />
<br />
Bonus materials include an eBook, <em>Lowering the Tone</em>, which discusses the story behind the creation of <em>Ben There, Dan That</em>. A video story book is also included, "explaining the backstory as to exactly how Dan wound up dead in a jungle tied to a length of twine in the first place." Purchasers will also receive music cut from the original game, printable posters, some unheard audio and Ben and Dan ringtones.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii-2"><em>Final Fantasy XIII-2</em></a> will arrive in America on January 31, Square Enix announced today at Tokyo Game Show. Europe's version will follow on February 2. Japan's release is set for December 15, with an extra option (above).<br />
<br />
The first <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> was accompanied in Japan by the lovely white and pink <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/unboxing-the-final-fantasy-xiii-limited-edition-ps3/">Lightning Edition PS3</a>. With another <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> game comes another limited edition, Japan-exclusive system -- this time in "pearl black." There's still a lot of pink. The Lightning Edition Ver. 2 PS3 will include a 320GB hard drive, the game and a controller when it ships in Japan, at a price of &yen;37,960 ($495).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-xiii-2-lightning-edition-ver-2-system/">Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lightning Edition Ver. 2 PS3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-xiii-2-lightning-edition-ver-2-system/#4451240"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/ff1391501_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-xiii-2-lightning-edition-ver-2-system/#4451241"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/ff1391502_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/final-fantasy-xiii-2-dated-worldwide-bundled-with-limited-editi/">Final Fantasy XIII-2 dated worldwide, bundled with limited edition system in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Sep 2011 02:20:00 EST. Level-5/Studio Ghibli tie-up RPG<em> <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/ni-no-kuni">Ni no Kuni</a> </em>("The Another World") comes with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/ni-no-kuni-take-a-look-its-in-a-book/">deluxe spellbook</a> on DS. Its PS3 counterpart one-ups the DS version when it hits Japan on November 17, by optionally bundling a whole PS3.<br />
<br />
The <em>Ni no Kuni</em> "Magical Edition" bundle will include the game and a special white and gold PS3, according to leaks from this week's Famitsu. It'll sell for &yen;33,780 ($440). PS3 games are region free, so if you decide to import this from The Another World of Japan, you'll at least be able to play your local PS3 games on it. There's still no word on a localization for either <em>Ni no Kuni</em> game.<br />

Every evening you renew your vow to the order, quietly murmuring "Vittoria agli assassini" before retiring to bed. But as we all know, you're not a <em>real</em> Assassin's Creed fan without a miniature statuette of Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine and a plastic statue of elderly Ezio.<br />
<br />
As it turns out, GameStop is offering just that in what it's calling the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-revelations"><em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em></a> "Ultimate Edition," which includes the contents of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/09/assassins-creed-revelations-signature-edition-with-gamestop-pr/">pre-order-tied "Signature Edition"</a> plus the aforementioned plastic items. That means it costs $40 more on consoles and PC ($100 and $90, respectively) for two plastic figures and ... a whole bunch of content that everyone else is getting for free with a pre-order.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/assassins-creed-revelations-ultimate-edition-bundle-revealed/">Assassin's Creed: Revelations 'Ultimate Edition' bundle revealed by GameStop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 16:10:00 EST. "I want a new video game," the average consumer thinks, "but I also want to sound funny on the phone." THQ swoops in with a solution to this two-fold need, with the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/saints-row-the-third"><em>Saints Row: The Third </em></a>Platinum Pack.<br />
<br />
In addition to the game, a soundtrack, and the in-game "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/11/saints-row-the-thirds-hyper-ordinary-pre-order-pack-is-madne/">Professor Genki Hyper-Ordinary Pre-Order Pack</a>" content, the set also includes a "custom molded Saints Row headset" with a vocoder voice processing feature "inspired by the premier pimp in <em>Saints Row: The Third</em>, Zimos" (who has had a tracheotomy, and speaks using an autotuned electronic voice box). Won't it be fun to annoy all your Xbox Live and PSN friends with your new robovoice?<br />
<br />
No, it won't. The headphones are not compatible with Xbox Live or PSN, instead using a standard 3.5mm audio jack. You can totally use it on your smartphone, though.<br />
<br />

And Nintendo is really hammering home the fact that it's a <em>European</em> localization. A video clip from a recently posted <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/iwata/iwata_asks_xenoblade_chronicles_32883_33122.html#top">Iwata Asks interview</a> reveals a surprising amount of Britishness in the voice acting. See the clip in question after the break, and find lots more in the interview itself.<br />

An <a href="http://www.nintendo.de/NOE/de_DE/news/2011/xenoblade_chronicles_fantastische_welten_frei_erkunden_43658.html">announcement</a> on Nintendo of Germany's site reveals that not only is <em>Xenoblade</em> being released in Europe on September 2, it's being released in a limited edition with a red Classic Controller Pro. That's like twisting the <em>Xenoblade</em> in the backs of already irritated Americans.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/xenoblade-chronicles-gets-european-special-edition-very-europea/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xenoblade Chronicles gets European special edition, very European localization</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/xenoblade-chronicles-gets-european-special-edition-very-europea/">Xenoblade Chronicles gets European special edition, very European localization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jun 2011 20:00:00 EST. Headed to the store to buy <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em></a> right this second? Hang on. A listing spotted on <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-Call+of+Duty+Black+Ops+Limited+Edition+with+DLC">GameStop.com</a> suggests that, next week, you'll be able to buy a version bundled with DLC.<br />
<br />
The listing is light on specifics, but the name is "Call of Duty: Black Ops Limited Edition with DLC." According to GameStop, it's set to come out June 28 on Xbox 360 and PS3, for the same $59.99 price that the normal edition commands.<br />
<br />
We're checking with Activision to determine exactly which DLC is included and if this package will be sold at other retailers. (Oh, and whether or not it's real.)<br />
<br />
[Thanks, BrownWing!]<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>Activision confirmed to Joystiq that the "Limited Edition" version of<em> Black Ops</em> will be available at "all retailers" in North America on June 28. For $59.99, it will include the game and a token for the "First Strike" DLC.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/21/call-of-duty-black-ops-limited-edition-with-dlc-listed-on-gam/">Call of Duty: Black Ops 'Limited Edition with DLC' listed on GameStop [update: it's official!]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Jun 2011 13:30:00 EST. A special edition of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-revelations"><em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em></a> found on GameStop in Ireland includes either more stuff than shows up in the American <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/09/assassins-creed-revelations-signature-edition-with-gamestop-pr/">"Signature Edition"</a> or provides additional info about what that edition will hold. Of course, the whole situation is a lot simpler if you're Irish, as the listing just tells you <em>what is in this version you can buy</em>.<br />
<br />
The &euro;99.99 ($143) <a href="http://www.gamestop.ie/41693_Xbox_360_Assassins_Creed_Revelations_Animus_Edition.aspx">"Animus Edition"</a> comes in special packaging, and includes rather a lot of stuff: a soundtrack, the<em> Assassin's Creed Embers</em> short film, and an "in-depth encyclopedia." In addition, it features in-game content including a mission set in the prison of Vlad the Impaler; gun, bullet, bomb, and arrow upgrades; the Armour of Brutus item from <em>Brotherhood</em>; two multiplayer characters, the Crusader and a new "Ottoman" version of the Jester; and "one exclusive customization item."<br />
<br />
To contrast, the US "Signature Edition" promises only an "extended gameplay mission, enhanced weapon capabilities, bonus multiplayer character, animated short film," and "in-game soundtrack." No big box, no encyclopedia, and no details about what those missions, characters, or upgrades are.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/17/assassins-creed-revelations-animus-edition-tempts-irish-fans/">Assassin's Creed Revelations 'Animus Edition' tempts Irish fans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Jun 2011 17:20:00 EST. Hey, you know how you've been shopping for a pillowcase with pictures of girls in spaceship suits? Well, we can finally tell you where to find one, and it includes an Xbox 360 shooting game as a bonus.<br />
<br />
One day before its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/04/konami-announces-streaming-pre-e3-show-and-viewing-parties-for-s/">pre-E3 event</a> (which would have been the perfect time to announce something like this), Konami announced that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/otomedius-excellent"><em>Otomedius Excellent</em></a>, its Gradius-esque anime-girl shmup, will be out in North America on July 19.<br />
<br />
It'll be available on disc in either a $29.99 version, or a $49.99 Special Edition which includes an art book, soundtrack, and the aforementioned home decor item, a "
<meta charset="utf-8" />
2-sided pillowcase featuring the girls of <em>Otomedius</em>." Check out the full-sized boxart after the break. If you're immediately humiliated, <em>you're not ready for the pillowcase</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/01/otomedius-excellent-out-july-19-includes-optional-pillowcase/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Otomedius Excellent out July 19, includes optional pillowcase</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/01/otomedius-excellent-out-july-19-includes-optional-pillowcase/">Otomedius Excellent out July 19, includes optional pillowcase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Jun 2011 17:40:00 EST. Japanese PS3 buyers have the choice of another special-edition console, should they decide to give their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/18/gran-turismo-5-launches-in-japan-november-3-with-blue-ps3/"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em> blue</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/unboxing-the-final-fantasy-xiii-limited-edition-ps3/"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> white</a> systems a rest. The "Tales of Xillia X Edition" PS3 system is the usual "Charcoal Black" PS3 color, but with metallic red and gold artwork on the top depicting the characters Jude and Milla. The PS3 logo is also red, which does more to make the thing seem "special-edition." Maybe we're just weird.<br />
<br />
The 160GB system will be released in Japan on September 8, bundled with a copy of Tales of Xillia for &yen;37,980 ($470). While it's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tales-of-graces-f">no</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tales-of-the-abyss">longer</a> completely ridiculous to think a <em>Tales</em> game will be localized, don't expect to see this one in American stores anytime soon. Of course, PS3 games are region-free, so you can totally import one of these and play American games on it!<br />
<br />

Little known fact: Brits can't read. Well, not all of them at least. Despite naming our language, England enjoys an incredible 110 percent illiteracy rate. So it makes total sense then that the North American release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011">Mortal Kombat</a></em> would come with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/screenshots/mortal-kombat-2011-special-editions/3677464/#/0">bookends</a> -- after all, what else is your book-learned American fighting game fan going to do when he's done with a couple rounds? -- while the UK release is saddled with a "kollectible" figurine.<br />
<br />
There's also an exclusive art book (mostly pictures, don't worry), an "in-game Retro Ninja Costume," and some console exclusive avatars and what have you. Enough <em>words</em>, have a taste of these images:<br />

Cecil, Tellah, Rosa and the gang will take up arms against the powers of nefarious crystal-hogs once again in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-4-complete-collection"><em>Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection</em></a>, which Square Enix has now <a href="https://member.eu.square-enix.com/en/blogs/final-fantasy-iv-complete-collection-special-edition-arrives-april-22nd">adorned</a> with an April 22 European release date -- a few days after North America's April 19 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/final-fantasy-iv-complete-collection-release-date/">due date</a>.<br />
<br />
The PSP-exclusive collection not only includes the original, SNES RPG (bolstered with some fancy-schmancy new graphics and CGI cutscenes), but also the <em>After Years</em> expansions, which players will be able jump right into if they don't feel like replaying the original, casualty-heavy saga.<br />
<br />
<em>The Complete Colelction</em> will be available in both a standard and special edition, which includes a handful of lovely little <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> art cards, a PSP screen cloth and a DLC voucher for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dissidia-duodecim-final-fantasy"><em>Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy</em></a>. That cloth would actually be kind of handy -- you'll need <em>something</em> to mop up your tears following <em>that one scene</em>. You know.
