Series producer Hideo Baba <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/22/tales-of-xillia-coming-this-summer-graces-f-hits-psn-next-week/">recently pinned</a> the PS3 JRPG for the west this summer, but both sites are reporting that window upgraded to a concrete NA release date at a recent media event. There's no word on a release date for Europe.<br /><br />Speaking to Kotaku, Baba said there aren't any current plans for Tales games on the Wii U, PS4, or next Xbox. When asked about bringing recent Vita remakes <em>Tales of Hearts R</em> and <em>Tales of Innocence R </em>overseas, Baba said, "Unfortunately, at this present time we don't have any plans to release any of the Vita titles. One of the main reasons is unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it's one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it's something we could consider."<br /><br />We've reached out to publisher Namco Bandai for more info.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/08/report-tales-of-xillia-comes-to-north-america-on-august-6/">Report: Tales of Xillia comes to North America on August 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Apr 2013 11:30:00 EST. Series producer Hideo Baba announced the news on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/03/21/tales-of-graces-f-coming-to-psn-326-tales-of-xillia-on-ps3-this-summer/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29">PlayStation Blog</a> this week, while also revealing 2012 retail release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tales-of-graces-f"><em>Tales of Graces F</em></a> is coming to PSN next week on March 26. The Standard edition of <em>Graces F</em> is priced $34.99, while the Knight edition bundles in over ten pieces of DLC for $54.99.<br /><br />Meanwhile in Japan, <em>Tales of Xillia 2</em>, released in November, stormed its way to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/namco-bandai-nine-month-net-profits-rise-by-72-percent/">500,000 sales</a> before the end of 2012. Since we're only just finding out when the first <em>Xillia</em> will hit the west, we wouldn't advise raising your hopes of <em>Xillia 2 </em>news anytime soon. Having said that, Baba did tease further Tales-related "surprise announcements" this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/22/tales-of-xillia-coming-this-summer-graces-f-hits-psn-next-week/">Tales of Xillia coming this summer, Graces F hits PSN next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Mar 2013 07:30:00 EST. Pretty soon, he was finding ways to incorporate the characters in his fan-fiction, his favorite being the 16-year-old master swordsman Leon Magnus. He wasn't alone.<br /><br />The Tales franchise has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, going from bona fide cult favorite to one of the most successful JRPG franchises this side of Final Fantasy. Unlike its competitors, the Tales series has been mostly content to stay the course over the past ten years or so. That remains the case for <em>Tales of Xillia</em>, which will please its now very vocal fanbase, even if it won't make many waves outside of the RPG community.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/">Tales of Xillia (1/22/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/#5586825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/tales-of-xillia-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/#5586826"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/tales-of-xillia-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/#5586827"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/tales-of-xillia-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/#5586828"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/tales-of-xillia-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tales-of-xillia-1-22-13/#5586829"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/tales-of-xillia-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/comfort-and-stability-unraveling-the-appeal-of-tales-of-xillia/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Comfort and stability: Unraveling the appeal of Tales of Xillia</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/comfort-and-stability-unraveling-the-appeal-of-tales-of-xillia/">Comfort and stability: Unraveling the appeal of Tales of Xillia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jan 2013 12:00:00 EST. Namco UK's Tales account <a href="http://twitter.com/TalesofU/status/221237444614426624">made the announcement public</a>. No specific date has been announced for the Western version, but the account has <a href="https://twitter.com/TalesofU/status/221244074756284416">specifically said</a> the game will come to America as well as Europe.<br /><br />In Japan, <em>Tales of Xillia </em>was released in September 2011, as a PS3 exclusive. A sequel was already announced for that region, due this year.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> A press release from Namco Bandai Games America (after the break) gives a 2013 release date to the North American release.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/06/tales-of-xillia-localization-revealed-at-japan-expo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tales of Xillia localization revealed at Japan Expo [update: coming in 2013]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/06/tales-of-xillia-localization-revealed-at-japan-expo/">Tales of Xillia localization revealed at Japan Expo [update: coming in 2013]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jul 2012 10:10:00 EST. Tales of Absorption? Tales of Dissolution? Namco Bandai announced this morning that it plans to absorb the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_Tales_Studio">Namco Tales Studio</a>, producers of the company's successful <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tales-of"><em>Tales</em></a> series, on January 1, 2012. No reason was given for the move.<br />
<br />
The Tales Studio is a wholly owned subsidiary of Namco Bandai formed in 1986 as Wolf Team, changing its name in 2003 when Namco became the majority shareholder. It has since been the lead studio of the publisher's flagship RPG series.<br />
<br />
It's not like Namco Bandai is planning to get out of the <em>Tales</em> business, since the publisher just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/26/namco-increases-financial-forecast-thanks-to-tales-of-xillia/">raised its financial forecast</a> based on the success of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tales-of-xillia"><em>Tales of Xillia</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/tales-studio-being-fully-absorbed-by-namco-bandai/">Tales Studio being fully absorbed by Namco Bandai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 15:40:00 EST. <a href="http://andriasang.com/comyrc/">Andriasang</a> reports that Namco Bandai has raised its earnings forecast (<a href="http://www.bandainamco.co.jp/files/HPE794A820111026E6A5ADE7B8BEE4BA88E683B3E381AEE4BF.pdf">PDF</a>) for the first six months of the year. Sales, previously pegged at &yen;178 billion ($2.3 billion), are now expected to reach &yen;194 billion ($2.5 billion); meanwhile, operating income (i.e. profit) projections have risen sharply from &yen;6.5 billion ($85.6 million) to &yen;15.5 billion ($204.3 million).<br />
<br />
The projections were raised on the back of high sales of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tales-of-xillia"><em>Tales of Xillia</em></a> and (ahem) <em>AKB1/48 If I Loved an Idol in Guam</em>. Just to be clear, <em>AKB1/48 If I Loved an Idol in Guam</em> is the full title of an actual game. We're not talking about Namco's newfound success in the island territory of Guam.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/26/namco-increases-financial-forecast-thanks-to-tales-of-xillia/">Namco increases financial forecast thanks to Tales of Xillia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Oct 2011 12:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tales-of-xillia"><em>Tales of Xillia</em></a> and its Ayumi Hamasaki theme song has only been available in Japan for a few days, but that won't stop <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Namco-Bandai">Namco Bandai</a> from diverting <strike>money</strike> attention away from its new release and onto an even newer, less available and yet more mysterious entry in the Tales series by way of <a href="http://www.bandainamcogames.co.jp/cs/list/taleschannel/newtalesof/">countdown website</a>. <br />
<br />
Since the website is registered to a .co.jp address, we figure the reveal will most likely be a new entry in the series, rather than a US release for <em>Xillia</em> or other stateside news. Also, the big sparkly glowing "New Tales of" is kind of a dead giveaway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/12/namco-bandai-teases-new-tales-of-title/">Namco Bandai teases new 'Tales of' title</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Sep 2011 18:29:00 EST. Nope, you still won't get an HDMI cable in the box with new PlayStation 3 hardware that arrives this September in Japan, but you will get a "charcoal black" console with decreased power consumption, a lightened chassis, and a 320GB HDD. Thrillingly named the "CECH-3000B," the new model was announced by Sony of Japan this past weekend, alongside the opening of <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps3/hardware/cech3000b.html">an official website</a> (once a <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/06/20/new_ps3_model/">retailer</a> had outed it).<br />
<br />
Apparently a handful of visual changes have been made to the system as well, specifically applying to the power and eject buttons, but the changes aren't obvious in images released thus far.<br />
<br />
The console by itself will run &yen;34,980 ($435.56), and a 160GB version of the new model will ship with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/30/special-edition-tales-of-xillia-ps3-bundle-coming-to-japan/">previously announced <em>Tales of Xillia</em> bundle</a> this September. It should also be noted that the <em>Tales of Xillia</em> model is &yen;37,980 ($470) and looks <em>way, way</em> sweeter.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/new-ps3-hardware-update-in-japan-xillia-bundle-comes-with-new-m/">New PS3 hardware update in Japan; Xillia bundle comes with new model</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jun 2011 09:30:00 EST. Japanese PS3 buyers have the choice of another special-edition console, should they decide to give their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/18/gran-turismo-5-launches-in-japan-november-3-with-blue-ps3/"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em> blue</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/unboxing-the-final-fantasy-xiii-limited-edition-ps3/"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> white</a> systems a rest. The "Tales of Xillia X Edition" PS3 system is the usual "Charcoal Black" PS3 color, but with metallic red and gold artwork on the top depicting the characters Jude and Milla. The PS3 logo is also red, which does more to make the thing seem "special-edition." Maybe we're just weird.<br />
<br />
The 160GB system will be released in Japan on September 8, bundled with a copy of Tales of Xillia for &yen;37,980 ($470). While it's <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tales-of-graces-f">no</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tales-of-the-abyss">longer</a> completely ridiculous to think a <em>Tales</em> game will be localized, don't expect to see this one in American stores anytime soon. Of course, PS3 games are region-free, so you can totally import one of these and play American games on it!<br />
<br />

The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/02/new-tales-of-game-formally-announced-first-concept-art/">mysterious</a> PS3 <em>Tales of</em> title has now been formally announced by Namco Bandai as <em>Tales of Xillia</em> ... because apparently the existing <em>Tales of</em> titles weren't ridiculous enough. So is that pronounced "Sillia," "Shillia," "Chillia" or "Ex-illia?"<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/12/15/xillia_first_look/">Andriasang</a> reports the game will be launch sometime in 2011 on PS3 under the direction of Anana Inoki (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/05/battling-it-out-with-dawn-of-the-new-world/"><em>Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World</em></a>) and Naoto Miyadera (<em>Tales of Symphonia</em> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_Abyss"><em>Of The Abyss</em></a>). It will also be backed by a theme song from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayumi_Hamasaki">Ayumi Hamasaki</a>. No word yet on an international release.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/tales-of-xillia-announced-by-namco-bandai/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tales of Xillia announced by Namco Bandai</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/tales-of-xillia-announced-by-namco-bandai/">Tales of Xillia announced by Namco Bandai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Dec 2010 16:00:00 EST.
