Called <em>The Conduit HD</em>, the game will land on the Google Play store on March 14, offering the first two levels for free to players.<br /><br />The rest of the single-player campaign can be purchased for $4.99, or players have the option of buying levels three through six and seven through nine in two separate packs for $2.99 apiece. While <a href="http://www.tegrazone.com/games/conduit">TegraZone</a> notes that the game will be compatible with GameStop's tablet controller, there's no mention of it supporting Nvidia's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-shield/">Project Shield</a> handheld system. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/">The Conduit HD (Announcement)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/#5679643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/theconduithd01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/#5679644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/theconduithd02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/#5679645"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/theconduithd03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/#5679646"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/theconduithd04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-hd-announcement/#5679647"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/theconduithd05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/03/the-conduit-hd-coming-to-tegra-powered-android-devices-march-14/">The Conduit HD coming to Tegra-powered Android devices March 14</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 03 Mar 2013 18:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/high-voltage">High Voltage</a>'s love affair with Nintendo continues. Although the studio is still wrapping up work on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-conduit-2"><em>Conduit 2</em></a>, it already has plans to bring the franchise onto the 3DS where chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger believes the company can "be a shining star." Like on the Wii, the 3DS library isn't really bursting with high-profile FPS titles.<br />
<br />
According to Nofsinger, the results of their early prototyping have been "very good," saying that "we're going to be able to have something very close to this [<em>Conduit 2</em>] on the 3DS probably by GDC." Much of the engine used in the Wii game can, seemingly, be pulled over from the console to the handheld.<br />
<br />
Although the team is working on a Conduit game for 3DS, the game hasn't secured a publisher yet. "I would guess that Sega will be interested," Nofsinger told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-02-03-conduit-3ds-in-development">Eurogamer</a>. "At DICE, the conference in Vegas that's coming up, we'll probably have some more chats."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/05/report-high-voltage-bringing-conduit-to-3ds/">Report: High Voltage bringing Conduit to 3DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 Feb 2011 16:20:00 EST. The High Voltage representatives showing off <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/10/high-voltage-its-just-conduit-2-now/"><strike><em>The</em></strike></a><em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/conduit-2">Conduit 2</a></em> behind closed doors at the Sega booth were quick to admit that the first game may not have lived up to the hype. While they were incredibly proud of what they created with that game, they admitted there was plenty of room for improvement -- generic, repeating waves of enemies were just one of the frank criticisms they had for their game. The sequel would afford them opportunity to correct these shortcomings. And then we were thrust into the demo.<br />

"It's <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit-2">Conduit 2</a></em>. The 'THE' got a bit clunky - too much of a mouthful - and we always referred to it as <em>Conduit 2</em> internally. It flows better and just kinda stuck." Of course: now that there are two of them, each is just <em>a</em> <em>Conduit</em>.<br />
<br />
Olson also offered some details about the revamped multiplayer. Perks will now be available, which will allow players to customize their characters significantly. "If I wanted to be a medic, for example, I'd probably pick Reverse Damage (Shooting allies heals them), Field Medicine (Doubles revive times), and Robot Legs (Unlimited sprint) among my perks. If I wanted to be a tank, I'd pick Heavy Armor (Damage reduction at a cost to movement speed), Ammo Belt (Two extra magazines), and Improved Bullet Damage." And you'll be able to set up two sets of abilities, so you can switch quickly.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/10/high-voltage-its-just-conduit-2-now/">High Voltage: It's just 'Conduit 2' now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Apr 2010 01:00:00 EST. No one's complaining about that. However, anyone who spent any time with the first <em>Conduit</em> really only wants one thing for the sequel's multiplayer: less <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/hacker-claims-the-conduit-virtually-unprotected-easy-to-foil/">cheating</a>. Luckily, developer High Voltage agrees. In a Q&amp;A session on Sega's blog, High Voltage's David Pellas identified three aspects of the first game he didn't like: "Simple level design, online hackers and the cliffhanger ending" -- and then, when asked if <em>The Conduit 2</em> would fix these issues, he said, "Yes, yes, and yes."<br />
<br />
In other words, you should be able to get in at least one really good day of online multiplayer before someone figures out how to hack the new game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/01/the-conduit-2-to-address-online-multiplayer-hacking/">The Conduit 2 to address online multiplayer hacking</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Apr 2010 10:03:00 EST. <br />
Due this fall, <em>The Conduit 2</em> expands the venue for the serie's action from Washington, D.C. to a variety of locations across the world. The game also adds "all-new" online and couch co-op modes, including Team Invasion Mode, a 4-player split-screen mode that can be played online or off. The 12-player online competitive play now benefits from "larger and more intricate indoor and outdoor battlefields," and retains the Wii Speak functionality that so few games employ. <br />

As you Nintendo Power subscribers and purchasers will learn (if you haven't gotten the latest issue already) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/high-voltage">High Voltage</a> will be bringing its flagship franchise back to the Wii this fall with <em>The Conduit 2</em>. <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=118944">GoNintendo</a> has a ton of details from the magazine's upcoming feature, but we're only providing the highlights, in case you plan on reading for yourself.<br />
<br />
In short: It's due this fall, it picks up right where the first left off and it's embracing its sci-fi vibe more than the first game did. Like we said, plenty of details are forthcoming; however, at the moment, it sounds like High Voltage is hoping to ratchet up pretty much every aspect of the first game. Here's hoping we have some official assets for you soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/30/the-conduit-2-coming-to-wii/">The Conduit 2 coming to Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Mar 2010 18:29:00 EST. Speaking exclusively with <a href="http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/106/1066623p1.html">IGN</a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit">The Conduit</a></em> developer High Voltage Studios has revealed its upcoming game <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-grinder">The Grinder</a></em> to be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, as well as the Nintendo Wii. Previously announced as another of HVS' exclusive games for the Wii aimed at <em>teh hardcorez</em>, the game will now end up on every console, which "allows us [High Voltage] to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers." <br />
<br />
While we're inclined to argue that most gamers' hands are in possession of a Wiimote and Nunchuk (at least that's what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/nintendo-celebrates-ds-wii-software-sales-milestones-in-europe/">the numbers tell us</a>), moving to the other consoles is a fairly understandable choice given the relatively low sales of HVS' previous Wiisclusive title. "We are extremely proud of the sales for <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a>, with over 350,000 copies sold, numerous 'best-of 2009' nods, and over a million hours played according to the Nintendo Channel," noted CEO Kerry Ganofsky. From the interview, it appears that the studio's proprietary game engine ("Quantum 3") will also be heading to the other consoles. Does that mean a <em>Conduit</em> port to the 360 and PS3 is in the cards? Hopefully we'll find out when we next see HVS at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc-2010">Game Developer's Conference</a> this March. In the meantime, we've embedded a new trailer after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/05/high-voltage-studios-reveals-the-grinder-to-be-multiplatform/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>High Voltage Studios reveals The Grinder to be multiplatform</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/05/high-voltage-studios-reveals-the-grinder-to-be-multiplatform/">High Voltage Studios reveals The Grinder to be multiplatform</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Feb 2010 13:30:00 EST. Sega gave it the old college try in 2009, reaching out to "mature" gamers with the likes of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madworld"><em>MadWorld</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead-overkill"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a>. But after none of those made much of an NPDent, it would seem the publisher may be abandoning the practice. While speaking on the performance of those games during the <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3176640">4 Guys 1UP</a> podcast, Sega of America studio director Constantine Hantzopoulos said, "That begets the question, you know, are we gonna do more mature titles for the Wii and it's like ... probably not." <br />
<br />
Hantzopoulos then pointed to the poor performance of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-space-extraction"><em>Dead Space: Extraction</em></a> on the Wii, saying he had been using it as a litmus test for the potential of mature titles on the platform. In other news, Sega has apparently decided on "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/sega-giving-up-on-hardcore-wii-games-would-be-arrogant/">be a little more arrogant</a>" as its New Year's resolution.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/04/sega-probably-not-making-more-hardcore-wii-games/">Sega 'probably not' making more hardcore Wii games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Jan 2010 09:40:00 EST. Aside from efforts like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> and <i>Call of Duty: World at War</i>, Nintendo's Wii hasn't exactly enjoyed a glut of capable FPS titles. According to a recent interview with games[TM] (via <a href="http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2119/aonuma-wanted-to-make-crossbow-training-2">NowGamer</a>), <em>Zelda</em> director Eiji Aonuma recognizes this -- and sees great potential for fixing that problem in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/links-crossbow-training">Link's Crossbow Training</a></em>, the pack-in minigame included with the Wii Zapper. "To tell you the truth, I actually wanted to create <em>Link's Crossbow Training 2</em> ... I thought that we should do something more and better in the field of the first-person shooter." Wait, haven't we heard this <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/miyamoto-links-crossbow-training-is-fps-training/">before</a>? <br />
<br />
Unfortunately for Aonuma, the execs above him at Nintendo didn't think much of the idea, nixing it in favor of a completely new entry in the <em>Zelda</em> series. "I was thinking that maybe we could intensify the multiplayer mode ... [but] a lot of people inside Nintendo insisted that I should work on a new <em>Legend of Zelda</em> title." We're sorry about that, Mr. Aonuma! And to the Nintendo executives who killed a sequel to <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em>, we'd like to personally thank you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/26/nintendos-aonuma-pitched-links-crossbow-training-2/">Nintendo's Aonuma pitched Link's Crossbow Training 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Dec 2009 19:00:00 EST. Given that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> was neither a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/sega-clarifies-first-week-sales-numbers-for-the-conduit/">commercial</a> nor <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/review-the-conduit/">critical</a> success, you may have passed on the once hyped shooter from High Voltage. NewEgg looks to be clearing out some end-of-year inventory and those boxes of <em>The Conduit</em> have <em>got to go!</em> For a mere $12 (shipping's free), the game's yours and, while not the best <em>bang </em>for your buck, the bargain buy could be justified in so much as <em>The Conduit</em> represents a valiant, if flawed effort to build a sound FPS for Wii hardware. Or, maybe you're just looking for a <em>cheap</em> gift for your little bro. Bingo, this is it.<br />

If you own more than one console, there's a sizable chance that you found <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> underwhelming. A commendable effort, sure, but not the world-rending behemoth we were all hoping for. That said, if you own multiple consoles, you probably <em>also</em> have enough money to afford a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/15/pretty-much-the-best-wii-case-mod-ever/">sweet custom rig</a>. Thus we present <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWcCb4oRpFs">a custom Wii</a> dedicated to High Voltage's good ol' college try.<br />
<br />
While it might appear to be little more than a Wii with a face painted one side and a logo plastered on the other, the <em>real</em> magic happens when you turn it on, causing it to light up so very prettily. See it all in the detailed (and vaguely sensual) video after the break.<br />
<br />

For one thing, its other games are doing well, in his opinion. "We actually regard <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/sega-clarifies-first-week-sales-numbers-for-the-conduit/">The Conduit</a> </em>as a success," he said. "We shipped 300,000 units, sold through half of those and now it's at the point where it's selling consistently at a time when Wii sales are generally depressed in the marketplace."<br /><br />Despite somewhat disappointing sales Stateside, Hayes also told Wired that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/House-of-the-Dead-Overkill/"><em>The House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> "did really well in Europe." As for <em>MadWorld</em>, Hayes doesn't think one game's failure is enough to close up shop on the Wii. "The thing that we're saying is, Sega would be extremely arrogant to have a title that didn't do as well as we thought on a platform and then say, Those kind of games don't sell on that platform.'"<br /><br />Quite a change from the Blast Processing / "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" days when Sega was extremely, <em>demonstrably</em>, arrogant.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/sega-giving-up-on-hardcore-wii-games-would-be-arrogant/">Sega: Giving up on hardcore Wii games would be 'arrogant'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 19:40:00 EST. In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/sega-reports-150-million-dip-in-sales-for-q1-2010/">announcing its Q1 2010 earnings</a> last week, Sega also presented a sales figure of 150,000 units for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> during its first week on sale (June 23 through June 30). Just a little more than a week earlier, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/the-conduit-sales-fizzle-in-late-june-debut/">figures released by NPD</a> put sales of the game for June 23 through July 4 at just 72,000 copies -- not a small discrepancy by any means. We contacted Sega to find out which report was the most accurate. Turns out they both were.<br /><br />Sega's 150k figure, the publisher told us, was based on copies of the game <em>shipped</em> to retailers during that first week. Although a rep explained that this figure was "global," the only part of the globe the game was available in before July 10 (the UK launch) was North America. Those 72,000 units reported by NPD, then? Those were how many of the 150,000 copies shipped were sold-through to consumers (a.k.a. <em>actually sold),</em> according to Sega. <br /><br />While this certainly makes the game's first week less impressive, we'll need to see how <em>The Conduit</em> did for all of July before delivering a fair verdict. We'll have those numbers as soon as the next NPD report hits.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/sega-clarifies-first-week-sales-numbers-for-the-conduit/">Sega clarifies first-week sales numbers for The Conduit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Aug 2009 19:30:00 EST. If there's one thing that Nintendo VP of corporate affairs <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/denise-kaigler">Denise Kaigler</a> knows, it's first-party game sales. In a recent <a href="http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/07/denise-kaigler-interview/">Wired</a> interview, she happily expounded on the "long tail" that Nintendo first-party games tend to enjoy (we're looking at you, <em>anything</em> with Mario in the title), though couldn't say as much for third-party sales on Wii -- especially those of the "hardcore" variety. <br /><br />When asked about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/madworld-sells-66k-in-march-sega-oddly-pleased/">slow</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/the-conduit-sales-fizzle-in-late-june-debut/">sales</a> of critically acclaimed titles <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madworld">MadWorld</a></em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a>, Kaigler said that both games could follow the non-traditional Nintendo sales trend (the aforementioned "long tail"), but her comments seemed rooted in speculation. "You know, I don't know ... it could be titles have the same type of sales curve that a lot of Nintendo titles have -- titles [that] don't follow that traditional sales curve where they launch big and then that's it." She said that Nintendo remains "hopeful" that the titles will move more units in the future, calling them both "deep experiences," though we're not sure those kind words will help soothe Sega's assuredly dented coffers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/nintendos-kaigler-hardcore-wii-game-sales-could-go-long-tail-maybe/">Nintendo's Kaigler: Hardcore Wii game sales could go long tail ... maybe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Jul 2009 14:15:00 EST. Once again, Sega places its hopes and dreams in the untapped hardcore Wii market, and once again it just doesn't pay off. With the June NPD <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/june-npd-prototype-rips-apart-the-sales-charts/">sales figures</a> comes a sad truth for those who've been hyping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> since it first reared its head last April: according to those figures, the conspiracy-infused FPS <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/the-conduit-sells-under-72k-in-the-us-during-june">sold under 72,000 copies</a> between its June 23 launch and the NPD cutoff date of July 4, placing it at number 25 on the U.S. top sellers list.<br /><br />Sure, <em>The Conduit</em> hasn't been out for a full month yet, but that sales total has got to be a disappointing figure for Sega, whose last two adult-themed Wii releases, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/MadWorld/">MadWorld</a> </em>and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/House-of-the-Dead-Overkill/">House of the Dead: Overkill</a></em>, made even smaller impacts during their respective launch months (we suppose there's a <em>little</em> silver lining in <em>The Conduit</em> performing <em>slightly</em> better). We've contacted both Sega and High Voltage to find out how they're feeling about the game's somewhat underwhelming sales figures.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/the-conduit-sales-fizzle-in-late-june-debut/">The Conduit sales fizzle in late-June debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Jul 2009 11:02:00 EST. You can see some of the hacks in action in a video on <a href="http://hetoan2.blogspot.com/2009/07/conduit-wifi-hacks-again.html">hetoan2's site</a>.<br /><br />"Everything is virtually unprotected<em>,"</em> hetoan2 discovered when he dumped the game's data and opened it up in a remote debugging program. "All values can be edited fairly easily, and there's virtually no sign of an attempt at hiding values, fixing bugs, or preventing online hackers." hetoan2 said that hacking the online version is as easy as hacking the offline version, because the code is completely identical. "The only difference is in the online mode the game sends the variables in real-time to their server."<br /><br />hetoan2 released some <a href="http://hetoan2.blogspot.com/2009/06/here-it-is.html">patch codes</a> for <em>The Conduit</em>, but initially altered them to corrupt the save files of anyone using them. Now, he told <a href="http://thewiire.com/editorials/post/6047-how-easily-the-conduit-was-hacked">The Wiire</a>, he's working with High Voltage to identify cheaters, whose MAC addresses are currently being sent to Nintendo for banning.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/">The Conduit</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494339"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_177-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494338"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_210-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494337"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_180-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494336"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_164-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494335"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_435-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/hacker-claims-the-conduit-virtually-unprotected-easy-to-foil/">Hacker claims The Conduit 'virtually unprotected,' easy to foil</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 09:05:00 EST. Though this is a short version of the show that lacks Chris Grant and Ludwig Kietzmann, we've made up for it with Joystiq's Ben Gilbert and Jem Alexander and super special guest Wombat of <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">Cheap Ass Gamer</a> fame.<br />
<br />
We're talking <em>The Conduit</em>, <em>Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood</em> and a load of other stuff. Enjoy it and have a happy 4th! Oh, and thanks to TV's Alan Black for the photoshop.<br />

The problem with reviewing High Voltage's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Conduit/">The Conduit</a></em> is that it's impossible to do in a vacuum. Depending on where you're coming from, you're going to have vastly different reactions to this game, so I'm going to do my best to talk to everyone.<br />

According to <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=217738">CVG</a>, unspecified issues with the game's multi-language European localization are responsible for the holdup. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.vooks.net/story-18119-The-Conduit-release-delay-confirmed-for-Australia.html">VOOKS</a> has also confirmed a delay for the Australian release of High Voltage's FPS.<span class="text_article_body"> Once given a June 25 release date, the game has been pushed back to July 16. Neither Sega nor VOOKS offered any reason for <em>this</em> version's delay, and the Australian release shouldn't be affected by the same localization problems. At this point, your best shot at playing <em>The Conduit</em> next week remains the "living in North America" strategy, or the slightly less drastic "importing from North America" strategy.<br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/the-conduit-delayed-in-europe-australia/">The Conduit delayed in Europe, Australia [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 11:00:00 EST. In addition to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/pre-order-the-conduits-exclusive-limited-edition-special-upgra/">Collector's Edition of <em>The Conduit</em> at GameStop</a>, there's the option of receiving a digital comic with a purchase from Amazon. <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit">The Conduit</a>: Orange Lights</em> provides back story and follows a DC talk-radio host as he digs into the origins of the title device.<br /><br />The fine print on the offer is that the redemption instructions for the comic will be sent within 10 business days of the game's release. So, the game will be out before those who purchase can get the "back story?" Huh.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2009/05/26/the-conduit-exclusive-digital-comic-amazon/">Sega Blog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/26/amazon-offering-the-conduit-digital-comic-with-purchase/">Amazon offering 'The Conduit' digital comic with purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 May 2009 22:15:00 EST. It's somewhat debatable as to what causes <em>more</em> trouble in this game's version of the Washington, D.C. Metro system: all the alien guys running around, or the player character discharging a bunch of <em>weapons</em> in there.<br /><br />Sega also released images of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/pre-order-the-conduits-exclusive-limited-edition-special-upgra/">special edition</a> boxes for both the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit/1538807/full/">UK</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit/1538805/full/">North America</a>. Sega has yet to announce anything about the UK special edition, but we feel <em>pretty confident</em> in saying that there will be a hint book included. <br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/check-out-the-conduits-packaging-and-the-game-as-well/">Check out The Conduit's packaging, and the game as well</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 May 2009 17:05:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><font size="1">click to enlarge</font></em><br />
<div align="left">Wii's biggest FPS of the summer (we'd say <em>year</em>,<em> </em>but Ubisoft <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/red-steel-2-promo-video-lands-on-youtube/">has a little something cooking</a>), <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit">The Conduit</a>, </em>has, perhaps in keeping with its theme of conspiracy and hidden secrets, only just now been shown with its online multiplayer component virtually complete and ready for the game's June 23 release. We spent an afternoon at Sega America playing through its various maps and modes with other games press and members of the dev team from High Voltage Software.<br /><br />Before we even got into the action, though, we were already impressed by how, well ... <em>un-Wii-like</em> the online mode was in both presentation and function. High Voltage has clearly spent a good deal of time pondering what players will want to find when they sit down for a multiplayer game of <em>The Conduit </em>for the first time.</div>

Sega's official <a href="http://twitter.com/SEGA/statuses/1701360118">Twitter</a> account has confirmed several games that will be shown at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/e3-2009">E3 2009</a>. According to French gaming site <a href="http://www.nintendo-master.com/xtnews/news-19353_exclu_up_high_voltage_software_prepare_2_jeux_.htm">Nintendo Master's recent interview</a> with Voltage's Eric Nofsinger, the developer is cranking out another FPS (one with even stronger visual tech than <span style="font-style: italic;">The Conduit</span>), and another title which is "a different kind of a thing." You know what that means? <span style="font-style: italic;">Equestrian breeding sim</span>. While the Wii can often become a minigame jukebox, games like <em>House of the Dead: Overkill </em>and <em>MadWorld</em> prove that there's still room on Nintendo's console for players hungry for more than just another party. Despite Nintendo's preaching that it has not abandoned core gamers, others, like Illinois-based <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/high-voltage-software">High Voltage Software</a>, are doing something about it.<br /><br />High Voltage's upcoming shooter, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a>, was positioned early on as the studio's effort to prove that the Wii could handle a hardcore FPS. Now, with it set to release in June, we cornered High Voltage creative director Matt Corso and spoke at length on the Wii, its perception with the hardcore crowd, and how his game's graphics size up to other titles like <em>Gears of War</em>. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/">The Conduit</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494339"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_177-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494338"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_210-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494337"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_180-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494336"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_164-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494335"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_435-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/joystiq-interview-high-voltage-software-on-the-conduit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq interview: High Voltage Software on The Conduit</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/joystiq-interview-high-voltage-software-on-the-conduit/">Joystiq interview: High Voltage Software on The Conduit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 11:00:00 EST. We've all read about how it looks fantastic, it's going to revolutionize FPS controls on Wii, all that jazz. But what is it <em>about</em>? <strong>Update:</strong> Apparently neither Sega or High Voltage approved this video, and it was uploaded by accident. At the request of Sega and High Voltage, we've removed it from the post.<br /><br />High Voltage <em>dares you</em>. This isn't some kind of silly kid's dare, though. No, this is a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XlPwsmkPHI"><em>triple dog-dare</em></a>, the coup de grace of all dares. And, after watching the video past the break, which compares <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> to the likes of other Wii FPS games such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metroidprime3"><em>Metroid Prime 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/red-steel"><em>Red Steel</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@wii,call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a>, we'd say High Voltage has certainly made its case. Representatives for High Voltage Software and Sega have informed Joystiq that <em>The Conduit</em> will reach retail on June 23. There was some confusion this morning about <em>The Conduit</em>'s development status, following a <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/wii-bragger-conduit-slips-to-summer">Eurogamer</a> story indicating that Sega had "pushed ambitious Wii first-person shooter <em>The Conduit</em> back from spring to summer." This is technically accurate -- <em>The Conduit</em> was originally scheduled to release <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/the-conduit-coming-june-9th-animales-de-la-muerte-no-longer-wii/">June 9</a> (spring), but will now release June 23, two days after summer begins. <br /><br />High Voltage Software's Eric Nofsinger assured us that the game's development hadn't slipped at all, but that pushing the "Nintendo networking beyond its usual transfer of data and taking full use of the WiiSpeak" is "good for the game and gamer," even if it lengthens the time taken for testing and approval.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/">The Conduit</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494339"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_177-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494338"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_210-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494337"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_180-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494336"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_164-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-conduit-10-06-2008/#1494335"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/screenshot_435-conduit_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/16/the-conduit-channeled-into-retail-on-june-23/">The Conduit channeled into retail on June 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Apr 2009 14:25:00 EST. Boy, that GameStop sure has a way with words, huh? The retailer's <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=72956">game page</a> for <span style="font-style: italic;">The Conduit</span> declares an "Exclusive Limited Edition -- with Bonus!" It's the usual: Pre-order the game with a down payment and secure your "Special Edition upgrade." But just how limited/special/upgraded, you ask? Well, you're looking at it. <em>Don't see it?</em> Look harder: That's a custom-detailed A.S.E., pal, and a not-so-secret-looking "Secret Agent" multiplayer skin. Oh, and there's an art book. But, honestly, are you really ever gonna open that?<br /><br />See, around here, we believe the best art is art with no strings attached. And to prove it, we're opening up our vault of non-exclusive and <em>unlimited</em> [go on, keep clicking] multiplayer screens! But that's not all ... We've got the first online multiplayer trailer too! Continue on after the break to watch it, again and again, until your <em>eyes bleed.</em><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/pre-order-the-conduits-exclusive-limited-edition-special-upgra/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pre-order The Conduit's 'Exclusive Limited Edition Special Upgrade with Bonus' at GameStop!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/pre-order-the-conduits-exclusive-limited-edition-special-upgra/">Pre-order The Conduit's 'Exclusive Limited Edition Special Upgrade with Bonus' at GameStop!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 14:45:00 EST. Sorry, split-screen fans, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Conduit/">The Conduit</a></em> is hanging you out to dry. According to lead designer Rob Nicholls, the upcoming shooter will exclude a split-screen multiplayer option in order to maintain the game's visual punch. In an interview with <a href="http://hdwarriors.com/index.php/wii/other-consoles-news/281-the-conduit-why-there-will-be-no-split-screen-multiplayer.html">HD Warriors</a>, Nicholls said the main reason the feature isn't included is because of concern the graphics quality would be reduced when "double-rendering" the game for the mode.<br /> <br /> High Voltage's top priority in developing <em>The Conduit</em> is making sure the title achieves the "best looking" graphics on the Nintendo Wii, said Nicholls. While the in-house tech team at High Voltage continues to squeeze power out of the console, <em>The Conduit</em> will<span class="text_article_body"> ship without split-screen -- but Nicholls said it is a possibility for future titles.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=13718">Nintendo Everything</a>]<br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/no-split-screen-multiplayer-in-the-conduit-to-preserve-visuals/">No split-screen multiplayer in The Conduit to preserve visuals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:00:00 EST. Yes, that was one of the biggest questions surrounding <em>The Conduit</em>, along with the identity of the publisher. It's controversial and kind of mundane at the same time!<br /><br />Of course, with <em>The Conduit</em>, we understand the concerns about the ESRB rating. <em>The Conduit</em> is labeled T, which may be a disappointment to those of you hoping for a nonstop bloody mess -- or a relief to those of you fearing sleeping gas and Nerf guns. <br /><br />This trailer demonstrates the "All Seeing Eye," the item that deciphers alien writing, interfaces with computers, and pretty much seems to do everything. The publisher announced that High Voltage's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> will feature new guitar music composed by Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen. This is presumably in addition to the score from composer <a href="http://www.originalsoundversion.com/?p=332">Diego Stocco</a>.<br /><br /> "We were very excited to get the chance to work with Rick on <em>The Conduit</em>," said High Voltage's Eric Nofsinger. "Even though he's known for driving rock guitar, he was able to provide great ambience and textural qualities that perfectly fits the mood of the game and helps it become a truly unique experience." <br /><br />For his part, Nielsen said simply, "I hope these lunar notes float with you." <em>We</em> hope that High Voltage takes a "lunar note" from Nielsen and puts five-necked guitars in the game as weapons.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/26/sega-wants-you-to-want-the-conduit/">Sega wants you to want The Conduit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 15:00:00 EST. The dev team at High Voltage Software has suffered from dusty Wii syndrome, but is hopeful that its upcoming shooter, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Conduit/">The Conduit</a></em>, will hold a piece of the cure. Speaking with <a href="http://computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=210935">CVG</a>, <span class="text_article_body"><em>Conduit</em> producer </span><span class="text_article_body">Josh Olson said High Voltage Software's Wii units had been "</span><span class="text_article_body">gathering dust" due to a lack of games for the core audience. Of course, Olson's comments echo (<em>Conduit</em> publisher) Sega's recent company line that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/sega-hardcore-gamers-shouldnt-be-excommunicated-from-wii/">hardcore market needs</a> Nintendo Wii love too. To that point, Sega has recently released <em>The House of the Dead: Overkill</em> and <em>MadWorld</em>. Or maybe High Voltage just wants gamers to start cleaning up their rooms.<br /> <br /> Olson also took an opportunity to discuss the multitude of player customization options found in <em>The Conduit</em>. In the game, players are free to remap the controls, alter the sensitivity, remodel the in-game HUD and pretty much change anything they can think of because <a href="http://www.high-voltage.com/">High Voltage</a> isn't</span><span class="text_article_body"> "so arrogant to think that the game has to be played a certain way." Then Olson throws it down, exclaiming that he is confident that <em>The Conduit</em> will be "the best-looking game on the console" and will include the "</span><span class="text_article_body">best available" multiplayer the Wii has ever offered. Unfortunately, High Voltage hasn't detailed any multiplayer features other than the use of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/07/the-conduit-to-use-wii-speak-new-trailer-sizzles-with-conspira/">Wii Speak</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=76525">GoNintendo</a>]<br /> </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/conduit-devs-had-dusty-wii-syndrome-hope-to-release-cure/">Conduit devs had 'dusty Wii syndrome,' hope to release cure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 14:05:00 EST. Sega's latest (on rails) shooter -- and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/house-of-the-dead-overkill-has-most-swearing-ever/">Guinness World Record</a> holder -- <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/House-of-the-Dead-Overkill/">The House of the Dead: Overkill</a></em> sold 45,000 units in February, landing itself 50th place in the month's top 100 titles sold. According to data from the NPD Group (Via <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/house-dead-overkill-sells-45k">Edge</a>), <em>Overkill</em> -- which released on February 10 -- joins other third-party Wii titles that have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/12/is-the-wii-inhospitable-for-third-party-publishers/">failed to capture attention</a> at retail.<br /> <br /> Last year, Sega of America president Simon Jeffery said Western publishers have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/sega-hardcore-gamers-shouldnt-be-excommunicated-from-wii/">ignored the hardcore market</a> focusing instead on family friendly titles, in line with the Wii's mainstream image. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Sega/">Sega</a> -- who recently released <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/MadWorld/">MadWorld</a></em> -- is prepping for a June release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Conduit/">The Conduit</a></em>, continuing a string of Mature rated titles developed for the top-selling console. Hopefully, it will fare better on store shelves.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/22/house-of-the-dead-overkill-sells-45k-in-february/">House of the Dead: Overkill sells 45k in February</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Mar 2009 11:00:00 EST. So what <em>is The Conduit</em> about? <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/963/963610p1.html">IGN</a> spoke to High Voltage's Eric Nofsinger and Josh Olson, and found that the concept is basically "all kinds of horrible stuff is happening." <br /><br />Nofsinger sets up some of the backstory: "In D.C. specifically, there's a virus, linked to the contaminated water supply, that's been attacking people's immune systems. Missing persons reports have increased dramatically. Domestic terrorist attacks - including an attack on the Washington monument - have caused rioting and panic. Martial law has been declared." How do you shoot at a virus? Oh, and then there's a full-scale alien invasion. <br /><br />As Agent Ford, a Secret Service agent recruited by an even <em>more</em> secret organization called The Trust, you are called in to deal with <em>all of that</em>. Guided by your Trust contact, "John Adams," Ford must help defend Washington D.C. from the aliens while <em>also</em> dealing with a possible rogue Trust agent. <br /><br />We've also got new screens courtesy <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/europe/2009/03/18/new-conduit-screens/">Sega Europe</a>. We trust you will enjoy them.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/the-conduit-has-a-story/">The Conduit has a story</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Mar 2009 11:00:00 EST. We've all been under the impression that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/01/the-conduit-gets-motionplussed/"><em>The Conduit </em>would feature MotionPlus</a>, but it turns out that High Voltage has tried it, and decided to take it out of the game. Why, you ask? Well, High Voltage's VP and chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger tells <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3173179">1UP</a> that Nintendo provided them "with early hardware and good developer support," but when they put it into <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a>, it "didn't really add anything for our primarily ranged combat." <br /><br />Nofsinger also got a bit more technical, adding that High Voltage hoped <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/motionplus">MotionPlus</a> "would allow for better off screen IR tracking." Instead, Nofsinger says the device "seems to lend itself more naturally for hand to hand combat" and that it "doesn't feel like an optimal fit for how we had designed our moment to moment gameplay." Well, that explains it. <br /><br />Sure, we want as many features as we can get our hands on in a game, but if it doesn't improve on the experience and just feels tacked on for the sake of being a bullet point on the back of a box, it's not worth it. It looks like High Voltage agrees.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/why-high-voltage-dropped-motionplus-from-the-conduit/">Why High Voltage dropped MotionPlus from The Conduit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Mar 2009 13:10:00 EST. If you haven't already guessed by the circus train of trailers that surfaced today, <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=50&amp;ch=1&amp;sd=0">last night's episode of GameTrailers TV</a> provided a cornucopia of previews for a number of hotly anticipated games and DLC expansions. First on the docket is an interview with Bethesda's Todd Howard, who in addition to revealing a self-surgery minigame that didn't quite make it to the retail version of <em>Fallout 3</em>, gives a few details regarding <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/fallout-3s-the-pitt-officially-dated-new-screens/">the upcoming <em>The Pitt</em> expansion</a>, and promises a new trailer for the DLC in the next installment of GTTV.<br /><br />Next, Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=50&amp;ch=2&amp;sd=0">shows off carpocalypse sim <em>Rage</em></a>, and gives a few scant details on the next <em>Doom</em> title (shockingly, it will be like the last three). Also, High Voltage's Eric Nofsinger <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=50&amp;ch=3&amp;sd=0">drops a few factoids about <em>The Conduit</em></a>, and the first footage of <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>'s new maps <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=50&amp;ch=4&amp;sd=0">sees the light of day</a>. There's something for everyone -- especially <em>the ladies</em>, courtesy of a sizable dose of <em>Keighley</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/07/gametrailers-tv-previews-the-pitt-world-at-war-dlc-the-conduit/">GameTrailers TV previews The Pitt, World at War DLC, The Conduit, Rage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Mar 2009 18:00:00 EST.
