The $1 extension is based off the expansion for the board game (which is way more expensive), featuring three new modes and 35 new destinations.<br /><br />The three new modes include: 1910 Classic, where there's no bonus for longest route, but for completing the most tickets. 1910 Mega has players receiving five routes -- instead of three -- and there are 69 destination tickets total, instead of 35. Finally, 1910 Cities only includes major city tickets, which means players need to grab the best routes as quickly as possible and can't focus on their "section of the country" like in the normal game.<br /><br />The 1910 expansion comes shortly after the core $2 <em>Ticket to Ride Pocket</em> app, which was already a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/26/portabliss-ticket-to-ride-pocket-ios/">great port of the board game</a> experience, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/ticket-to-ride-pocket-updates-adds-asynchronous-mode/">received asynchronous play</a> and had reached 350,000 sales earlier this month.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/">Ticket to Ride (1910 Expansion)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/#4836821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/tickettoride1910screen-1910-01-buyscreen_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/#4836822"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/tickettoride1910screen-1910-02-classic_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/#4836823"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/tickettoride1910screen-1910-03-mega_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/#4836825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/tickettoride1910screen-1910-04-bigcities_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-1910-expansion/#4836826"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/tickettoride1910screen-1910-05-ingame_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/24/ticket-to-ride-pocket-adds-tracks-to-1910-expansion/">Ticket to Ride Pocket adds tracks to 1910 Expansion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 00:45:00 EST. Track-layers can now conduct up to four games at once using the new multiplayer mode. The game also now permits play across iPhones, iPod Touch and iPads in local mode across Bluetooth, WiFi and telegraph wire.<br /><br />"This is the update Ticket to Ride players have been clamoring for since we released <em>Ticket to Ride Pocket</em>," said Days of Wonder founder and CEO Eric Hautemont.<br /><br />The company also shared that sales of <em>Ticket to Ride</em> on iOS have reached 350,000, with over 27.6 million games played and a new one starting every four seconds. We were pretty <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/26/portabliss-ticket-to-ride-pocket-ios/">impressed by the faithful translation</a> of the board game when we played the $2 app over the holidays, which is also available in more expensive forms on iPad and XBLA.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/ticket-to-ride-pocket-updates-adds-asynchronous-mode/">Ticket to Ride Pocket updates, adds asynchronous mode</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 09:16:00 EST. Publisher Days of Wonder did an impressive job making sure the quality of the original game and interface for this $1.99 App Store title lived up to the $50 boxed version.<br /><br /><em>Pocket</em>'s gameplay involves players laying track across the US to finish assigned destination cards. Routes can be as short as Toronto to Winnipeg, or transcontinental like New York to Los Angeles. The game is easy to understand and there's a detailed play-as-you-go tutorial the first time starting the game (and it is repeatable). Players draw colored cards to complete corresponding sections of rail toward the goal of finishing routes, with the player who creates the longest continuous rail scoring bonus points at the end.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/26/portabliss-ticket-to-ride-pocket-ios/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portabliss: Ticket to Ride Pocket (iOS)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/26/portabliss-ticket-to-ride-pocket-ios/">Portabliss: Ticket to Ride Pocket (iOS)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Dec 2011 19:01:00 EST. <em>Ticket to Ride Pocket</em>, the iPhone and iPod Touch version of the hit board game, is available now on the App Store for $0.99. The title supports solo play, local pass-and-play and local Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. Developer Days of Wonder has been upfront about what's missing from the iPhone version: online is out (because things like phone calls would break the experience, it says) and the level of detail and extra pieces on the Europe and Swiss map expansions don't lend themselves to the size of mobile screens.<br />
<br />
The iPad version of <em>Ticket to Ride</em> has been available for a little while for $6.99. There's also the <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Ticket-to-Ride/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584108ec">XBLA version</a> for 800 MSP ($10), and the Europe and USA maps available as DLC.<br />
<br />
Days of Wonder's adaptations have been incredibly faithful to the game, with the added value of not worrying about all those pesky pieces getting lost.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/ticket-to-ride-pocket-for-iphone-pulls-into-app-store/">Ticket to Ride Pocket for iPhone pulls into App Store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Nov 2011 10:30:00 EST. The emergence of digital distribution has been a wonderful thing for the tabletop gaming crowd. You can play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/catan"><em>Catan</em></a> on your Xbox; <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/risk-factions"><em>Risk</em></a> on your PC or iOS device. Now, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride/"><em>Ticket to Ride</em></a> is available on the iPad. In <em>Ticket to Ride</em>, players pull colored train cards, hoping to complete any number of designated train routes on a large game board -- the United States and Europe are among the most well-known maps. <br />
<br />
The $6.99 iPad app (developed by Days of Wonder) looks to offer the full experience: You can play online; there's full Game Center support; and optional Europe, Switzerland and USA 1910 maps, available for $.99 each during this special launch week window, can be downloaded in-game.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/">Ticket to Ride (iPad)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/#4149482"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/ttripadimage1x_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/#4149483"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/ttripadimage2x_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/#4149484"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/ttripadimage3x_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/#4149485"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/ttripadimage4x_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-ipad/#4149486"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/ttripadimage5x_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/19/ticket-to-ride-lays-track-on-the-ipad/">Ticket to Ride lays track on the iPad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 May 2011 23:00:00 EST. Without an explanation for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/ticket-to-ride-europe-still-hasnt-arrived-in-xbla-station-cust/">missing its Wednesday debut</a>, <em>Ticket to Ride</em> Europe <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/08/01/dlc-ticket-to-ride-europe.aspx">just arrived</a> on XBLA to pick up customers for the weekend. <br /><br />The expansion to the digitized European board game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/ticket-to-rides-europe-expansion-arrives-next-wednesday/">costs 600 MS points ($7.50)</a>, which is far cheaper than the $30+ set in real life. We haven't downloaded the Europe expansion yet, but let us know if the red/orange color similarity issue found in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride"><span style="font-style: italic;">Ticket to Ride</span></a> has been fixed.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/ticket-to-ride-europe-on-xbla-finally-arrives/">Ticket to Ride Europe finally arrives on XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Aug 2008 12:55:00 EST. <div align="left">Board game aficionados may have noticed that the <em>Ticket to Ride: Europe</em> DLC that was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/next-week-ticket-to-ride-expands-into-europe/">promised last week</a> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/ticket-to-ride-europe-still-hasnt-arrived-in-xbla-station-cust/">nowhere to be seen</a>. As the name implies, the <em>Europe</em> DLC allows would-be railway commissioners to lay tracks across Europe (though we see that Ireland is left out of the fun) and also adds a plethora of new features (ferries, tunnels!). Joystiq has contacted Playful Entertainment, the game's developer, but has received no answer thus far. Our conversation with Microsoft turned up similar results, so for now we remain in the dark. We'll post any new information once we hear it.</div>

<strong>Update</strong>: It's finally here ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/ticket-to-ride-europe-on-xbla-finally-arrives/">two days late</a>.<br /><br />Considering it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/ticket-to-rides-europe-expansion-arrives-next-wednesday/">supposed to be released today</a>, a few people have been asking us: What happened to XBLA's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride/">Ticket to Ride</a> Europe</em> expansion? We really don't know. We tried contacting developer Playful Entertainment and pretty much anyone we know at Microsoft. Nobody is talking. Our next try is to check with the butcher and the baker, but typically the liquor store guy always knows what's going on.<br /><br />We'll be sure to update as soon as someone decides to explain why the train is late to the station.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/">Ticket to Ride: Europe (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942157"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942156"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942155"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/ticket-to-ride-europe-still-hasnt-arrived-in-xbla-station-cust/">Ticket to Ride Europe yet to arrive on XBLA, customers getting antsy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Jul 2008 15:45:00 EST. XBLA's excellent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride"><em>Ticket to Ride</em></a> is ready to cross the Atlantic to receive the Europe expansion board next Wednesday. According to developer Playful Entertainment, the new continent will cost 600 MS points ($7.50) and add new gameplay elements like ferries, tunnels and train stations.<br /><br />In the retail board game world, <em>Ticket to Ride</em> and <em>Ticket to Ride: Europe</em> -- which are sold separately -- would cost over $60, so we're not that sore about getting both on XBLA for $17.50. No word yet if the painfully close red/orange color blending will be fixed on the new board.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/">Ticket to Ride: Europe (XBLA)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942157"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942156"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942155"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride-europe-xbla/#942154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/ttr-screen-shot-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/ticket-to-rides-europe-expansion-arrives-next-wednesday/">Ticket to Ride's Europe expansion boards next Wednesday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 20:30:00 EST. The upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/ticket-to-rides-europe-expansion-arrives-next-wednesday/">European expansion board DLC</a> will give players a new board to choo-choo on and add new game elements to the mix including ferries, tunnels and train stations. <div style="text-align: left;">Alan R. Moon's <em>Ticket to Ride</em> has only been out for four years, but it has picked up several prestigious board gaming awards, and is quickly becoming a popular "haul it out of the closet and get yer game on" addition to game night. Last week, the Xbox Live Arcade version was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/this-wednesday-ticket-to-ride-and-happy-tree-friends-ride-onto/">released</a>, joining <em>Catan, Carcassonne</em>, and <em>Lost Cities</em> as games that have breached the digital divide. But how does it stack up against the <a href="http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/play/">freebie Java version</a>, and the board game itself? Read on, ticket holders, and find out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/">Ticket to Ride</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/#893858"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pic303884_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/#893857"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pic115214_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/#893855"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/xbox_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/#893854"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pic168095_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ticket-to-ride/#893853"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/pic334889_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

One of them is a pretty good board game about building railroads. The other one is a weird game that doesn't really seem to take advantage of the cartoon upon which it's based. <div align="left">Hey kids! It's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday and that can only mean one thing. That's right, it's time for some new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XBLA/">XBLA</a> games. Huzzah! This week's releases are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/happy-tree-friends"><em>Happy Tree Friends False Alarm</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride"><em>Ticket to Ride</em></a>. <em>False Alarm</em> has you guiding your favorite furry friends through various hazards, doing your best to keep them from being sliced, diced, burned, or otherwise mutilated. <em>Ticket to Ride</em>, on the other hand, is a board game in which you relive the spirit of expansion brought on by the advent of railroads. In other words, you build trains. It's more fun than it sounds. Both are available now for 800 MS Points each. Stay tuned for the next XBLA in Brief and we'll tell you whether or not they're worth the scratch.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/htffaxboxlivearcade/">Source</a> - Happy Tree Friends False Alarm on Xbox.com<br /><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/t/tickettoridexboxlivearcade/">Source</a> - Ticket to Ride on Xbox.com</div>

<div align="left">Yeah we know the post title is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/20/esrb-trying-to-curtail-early-game-reveals/">a bit needlesssly grim</a>. Let's face it, we're going to still be getting <em>some</em> information about releases from the ESRB. And hopefully some publishers simply won't much care about putting their games up there early. Others like Playful Entertainment, publishers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ticket-to-ride/"><em>Ticket to Ride</em></a>, seem to still want their ratings to go up at the last minute (<em>TtR </em>releases this week). <br /> <br /> However, if we're to believe that the publishers of the other two XBLA games on the list (<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/rocket-riot-xbla-details-screens/">Rocket Riot</a> </em>and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cribbage"><em>Cribbage</em></a>) also want their games to pop up at the last minute, we could be looking at the first hint of next week's releases. Or we could just be paranoid about this whole ESRB thing.</div>

Though, there is one similarity, both will available for purchase this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft points. However, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/frogger-2-and-commando-3-xbox-com-pages-appear/">the last time</a> xbox.com pages appeared for unreleased XBLA games, they released exactly one week later. And with <em>HTF</em>:<em>FA</em> definitely hitting next week, we think we can say with some certainty that the electronic adaptation of the classic board game about building railroads will be hitting next week too. To tide you over until then, marvel at the screenshots below. <br /><br />
<br />
<br /></div>

Now, thanks to the <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/05/12/559073.aspx">Gamerscore Blog</a>, we get a few more details, albeit very little. Details including confirmation that <em>Ticket to Ride </em>will be releasing to the XBLA sometime this Summer, will allow for five player versus over Xbox Live, four player versus locally and will have Vision camera support. We're also told that <em>Ticket to Ride</em> provides "hours of family-friendly fun", but we think that's too subjective of a feature to mention.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/ticket-to-ride-xbla-details-chug-in/">Ticket to Ride XBLA details chug in</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 15:15:00 EST. The German Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/germans-rate-wow-wrath-of-the-lich-king/">no stranger to revealing unannounced titles</a> and <a href="http://www.xblah.net/">Xblah.net</a> points out they've done it again. The highlight for fans of XBLA board game translations like <em>Catan</em> and <em>Carcassonne</em> is that <strike>Zug um Zug</strike> <em>Ticket to Ride</em> is ready to build railways on Xbox 360.<br /><br />Other games rated by the USK are Penny Arcade's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PennyArcadeAdventures/"><span style="font-style: italic;">OtR-SPD</span></a>, <em>RooGoo</em>, and <em>Golf: Tee it Up</em>! None of these ratings mean the games are coming out soon, but at least they're on their way.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/03/21/geman-ratings-board-reveals-a-slew-of-xbla-titles/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/germans-reveal-more-unannounced-XBLA-games/">Germans reveal Ticket to Ride, rate other XBLA games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Mar 2008 17:00:00 EST. <p>Having <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/08/usk-lists-warhammer-mark-of-chaos-for-360/">revealed games</a> before, the German games rating board <a href="http://www.generationgamerz.com/v2/culture/usk-the-german-videogame-rating-system-explained2.php">the USK</a> is at it again, exposing previously unknown XBLA games. Shown over at <a href="http://www.xblah.net/">xblah.net</a> there are a myriad of titles across several genres, but the most stand out title would have to be a virtual version of the classic board-game <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticket_to_Ride_%28board_game%29">Ticket To Ride</a> </em>in which players compete to build railroads across the countryside. From the sound of things it'll be similar to the conversion from the board game version of <em>The Settlers of Catan</em> and the XBLA version,<em> Catan</em>. </p>
<p>The other titles rated by the USK include the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_Arcade_Adventures:_On_the_Rain-Slick_Precipice_of_Darkness"><em>Penny Arcade </em>XBLA game</a>, the puzzler <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roogoo">RooGoo</a>, and a golf game entitled <em>Golf: Tee it Up! </em>Not only that, but there were also a few more games revealed by the American ratings board, the ESRB. Those two games were the ancient computer game <em>Lode Runner</em>, and the card game simulator <em>Gin Rummy. </em>None of these titles are official of course, but as with all games revealed in this fashion we must remember that rating's boards are not in the business of making of games, nor is having a game rated at all cheap. This is great news though, and should portend the approaching release of said titles. With such an ever expanding library of titles it seems XBLA is really coming into it's own, catering to a variety of demographics and hopefully with something for everyone.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/geman-ratings-board-reveals-a-slew-of-xbla-titles/">German Ratings Board reveals a slew of XBLA titles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Mar 2008 09:15:00 EST. <font color="#808080"><span style="font-style: italic;">Every other week Scott Jon Siegel contributes </span><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/offthegrid/">Off the Grid</a><span style="font-style: italic;">, a column about card games, board games, and everything else non-digital.</span></font><br /><br />Alan R. Moon's <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.daysofwonder.com/tickettoride/en/">Ticket to Ride</a> is widely considered to be one of the greatest board games of the last decade, but the reason for this may elude players at first. After all, <span style="font-style: italic;">Ticket to Ride</span> is deceptively simplistic, with a weak fiction to justify a gameplay mechanic that's little more than connecting dots on a board. Players who invest in the experience, however, can quickly find that Moon's award-winning game is greater than the sum of its parts.<br /><br />The original version of <span style="font-style: italic;">Ticket to Ride</span> takes place in North America at the turn of the 20th century. Players compete to travel around the U.S. (and parts of Canada), claiming various train routes between cities in order to earn points. The game would like you to believe that it's a grand race across the country; even the back of the box states that the objective is to travel to the most cities by train in just 7 days. Unfortunately, the rules and gameplay don't really justify this grandiose storyline.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/off-the-grid-reviews-ticket-to-ride/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Off the Grid reviews Ticket to Ride</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/29/off-the-grid-reviews-ticket-to-ride/">Off the Grid reviews Ticket to Ride</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Nov 2007 16:50:00 EST.
