Besides, he wears fancy white gloves that he says make him feel like Mario, and that's pretty baller (and helps avoid fingerprints on the glossy system). <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria-announced/"><em>WoW</em></a> may be the big announcement today -- and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/diablo-3-free-with-wow-annual-subscription-limited-edition-also/"><em>Diablo 3</em></a> the big special edition news -- but EA would like to remind you about another <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/star-wars-the-old-republic">huge MMO</a> coming out, and another special edition. In this video, the collector's edition unboxes <em>itself</em>. So, you want to buy us a pair of <a href="http://nikemag.ebay.com/?_trksid=p5197.m1256">Back to the Future Nikes</a> but can't afford them. While we appreciate the sentiment, our love, frankly, won't buy itself. Luckily, we'd also accept the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/back-to-the-future"><em>Back to the Future</em></a> Deluxe Edition that Telltale's showing off in the video above. Well, here it is, people. The "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/gears-of-war-3-limited-and-epic-edition-extras-revealed/">Epic Edition</a>" of next week's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-3">Gears of War 3</a></em>. It's a big box, packed full of some big treats. Are you the kind of gamer who wants to declare his affection for the franchise by displaying an 11" statue of Marcus Fenix in your home and/or workplace? NOICE! Scratch one consumer. Maybe you're more intellectual? How does a 96-page book titled "The Art and Design of Gears of War" penned by <em>Extra Lives</em> scribe (and patron saint of video game writers) Tom Bissel sound?<br />
<br />
Oh, we get it ... you want the "exclusive unlockable Adam Fenix multiplayer character" so you can play as Marcus' elderly father and use the "I've fallen and I can't get up" line. Yeah, we're bringing back that old chestnut.<br />

Depending on how interested you are in something, unboxing videos can either be incredibly exciting or the most boring things you've ever seen. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Catherine"><em>Catherine</em></a>'s "Love is Over" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/02/catherine-deluxe-edition-delivered-in-a-pizza-box-topped-with-u/">deluxe edition</a> may be a different story, however, on account of the underwear and pizza boxes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/atlus-unboxes-catherine-love-is-over-deluxe-edition/">Atlus unboxes Catherine 'Love is Over' deluxe edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 21:30:00 EST. If you have a penchant for messenger bags, world-ending beasts and "it's totally not a toy" figurines, today's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-2"><em>inFamous 2</em></a> news is <em>just right</em> for you. Beyond a thoroughly <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/24/infamous-2-hero-edition-the-unboxing/">detailed photo tour</a> of the game's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/infamous-2-release-date/">Hero Edition</a>" (an "unboxing," if you will), Sony today released a brand new trailer for this June's third-person superhero-er.<br />
<br />
Rather than show off the game's New Orleans-inspired location as so many <em>inFamous 2</em> trailers have before it, this one's all about the destruction of Cole's hometown: Empire City. Turns out that the enormous beast he was worried about in the last game is <em>kind of a dominant force</em> in his second adventure. Today, Nintendo showed up outside of Joystiq's NYC offices with seven women, all to hand deliver its newest portable system, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/3ds">the 3DS</a>, in one large box. Join us in video form just after the break as we crack open the box and explore its three-dimensional contents.<br />
<br />
There's even a sweet cameo from Nintendo of America prez Reggie Fils-Aime! Okay, okay -- it's just his signature. But he <em>totally</em> wrote us a letter!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/nintendo-3ds-unboxing-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Nintendo 3DS: Unboxed!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/nintendo-3ds-unboxing-video/">The Nintendo 3DS: Unboxed!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Mar 2011 18:08:00 EST. <a href="http://insidesimracing.tv/">Inside Sim Racing</a> does not mess around. When the site got its hands on what it says is one of the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/05/thrustmaster-teases-gran-turismo-5-racing-wheel/">Thrustmaster T500RS</a> units in the US (a.k.a. the official <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5">Gran Turismo 5</a></em> racing wheel), it made this <em>epic</em> unboxing video. Carrying a $600 price tag [<em>Ed.'s note:</em> Not a typo!], the peripheral is expected to ship in North America and Europe on January 5 ... which, coincidentally, is when this blogger's car payment, less than half the price of the T500RS, is due. <br />

In short, it's a <em>really nice</em> package. Nintendo sent over the collection today in advance of its Sunday release, so we thought we'd give you a look at the packaging, the soundtrack, and the included booklet -- the stuff that's really going to call out for your $30. We're still some hours away from the midnight launch of the latest <em>World of Warcraft</em> expansion, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm">Cataclysm</a>. It won't be long before Deathwing wrecks shop, so we thought we'd take some of this <em>downtime</em> to share pics of the Collector's Edition which recently made its way to our doorstep. Peruse the gallery below, and stick around for a giveaway later today. <br />

Unboxing videos are usually pretty tame affairs -- but that's because most games' special editions don't include bonuses engineered to <em>scare the crap</em> out of whomever might open them. That's the (unfortunate) case in the unboxing video for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-brotherhood"><em>Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood</em></a> posted below.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/assassins-creed-brotherhood-unboxing-video-not-for-the-faint-of/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassins Creed: Brotherhood unboxing video not for the faint of heart</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/assassins-creed-brotherhood-unboxing-video-not-for-the-faint-of/">Assassins Creed: Brotherhood unboxing video not for the faint of heart</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 20:00:00 EST. Honestly, we don't know why we do this to ourselves. Here we are, just sort of <em>casually </em>wanting the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/21/fable-3-conquering-lands-on-pc-collectors-edition-detailed/">"Limited Collector's" Edition</a> and we have to go and watch the unboxing video after the break. So now it's <em>all</em> <em>we want</em>. But look at the thing! It looks like a book! What are we, made of <em>stone?</em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/fable-3-collectors-edition-unboxing/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch the Fable 3 Collector's Edition unboxing</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/fable-3-collectors-edition-unboxing/">Watch the Fable 3 Collector's Edition unboxing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 13:10:00 EST. Swaddled in cotton, and hand-delivered by a MJOLNIR-clad stork, please welcome the newest addition to our video game family: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-Reach/"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a> Legendary Edition. We didn't want to deprive you of the joys of living vicariously through this delivery, so we broke out the ol' DSLR and snapped off some pics, found in the gallery below. And don't worry, we'll be giving this mammoth package away to one of you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/14/halo-reach-legendary-edition-giveaway/">soon enough</a>. <br />

Microsoft surprised all of us today -- not by announcing a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/new-xbox-360-shipping-today-for-299-250gb-hdd-built-in-wifi/">redesigned Xbox 360 system</a> -- but by giving them away to everyone attending their E3 press conference. While we promise to give these new systems away to you soon, we wanted to give you a closer look at the new hardware (shipping to retailers today!).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/xbox-360-slim-unwrapped-and-unboxed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox 360 slim, unwrapped and unboxed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/xbox-360-slim-unwrapped-and-unboxed/">Xbox 360 slim, unwrapped and unboxed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jun 2010 18:37:00 EST. A quick look after the break is all you need to realize that you are wrong. Aaron Nanto of <a href="http://pcenginefx.com/main/">pcenginefx.com</a> has filmed a beautiful unboxing video notable not only for its subject (an NEC TurboExpress, the handheld version of the Turbografx-16 console) but for its beautiful cinematography.<br />
<br />
For us, this video lies somewhere between "love story" and "pornography," though we wouldn't dare suggest it's indecent to watch. We've never been so thrilled to see five seconds of <em>Keith Courage in Alpha Zones</em>.<br type="_moz" /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/06/the-turboexpress-lovingly-unboxed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The TurboExpress, lovingly unboxed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/06/the-turboexpress-lovingly-unboxed/">The TurboExpress, lovingly unboxed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 12:30:00 EST. The $99 special edition for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>Bioshock 2</em></a> is a stylish little bundle, replete with art deco flyers and a record containing the game's atmospheric soundtrack. The <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McLQx6R1QQo">video after the jump features</a> an all-inclusive unboxing of the package, courtesy of 2K -- however, it also includes the world-exclusive reveal of the game's "Uber Edition," which costs $14,999, and only includes a copy of the undersea action title, and <em>a real life Big Daddy</em>.<br />
<br />
We're still trying to make sense of this whole thing. Why would 2K expect anyone to pay 15 grand for a single game? Is it even legal to sell an actual sentient being in this manner? What are the ramifica ... what's that? It's a joke? Oh, yeah, that makes a lot more sense. <em>Thank goodness</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/2k-unboxes-the-extremely-rare-15-000-version-of-bioshock-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2K unboxes the extremely rare $15,000 version of Bioshock 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/2k-unboxes-the-extremely-rare-15-000-version-of-bioshock-2/">2K unboxes the extremely rare $15,000 version of Bioshock 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Feb 2010 22:14:00 EST. Japanese gamers are braving the cold right now, waiting on line to pick up <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em>. Square Enix and Sony have partnered up to create a limited edition bundle that includes a copy of the game, a white controller, and a pink Lightning-emblazoned <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/sony-japan-unveils-250gb-final-fantasy-xiii-bundle/">250GB PS3 Slim system</a>.<br />

It's unlikely this system will ever be officially released outside of Asia. It was our first stop this morning when the expo floor opened, and still we waited in line for at least 30 minutes -- a line that completely surrounded the ginormous booth. The line ended at a small theater lounge, in which we sat down to watch the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ni-no-kuni">Ni no Kuni</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/professor-layton-and-the-devils-flute">Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.roid.jp/">ROID</a> trailers we had just seen from <em>the line</em>. <br /><br />Finally, we were ushered into a game demo area, and then handed the requisite swag bag. Having been told that the swag bag contained this year's version of the vaunted Level-5 "Premium Gift," with either a DVD <em>or</em> a DS demo cartridge, we decided to share the <em>excitement</em> of opening the sealed envelope with the internet. Enjoy the exciting conclusion in the video above!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-unboxing-the-level-5-premium-gift/">TGS 2009: Unboxing the Level-5 Premium Gift</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 20:00:00 EST. First it <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/video-joystiq-unboxes-the-ps3-slim/">surprised us</a> with a PS3 "Slim" on the very day it was announced -- today it hit us with a final retail <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a> system just one night after we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/hands-on-locoroco-midnight-carnival/">played</a> a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/impressions-assassins-creed-bloodlines/">bunch</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/gta-chinatown-wars-losing-nothing-in-psp-port/">games</a> on one at a preview event.<br /><br />So, we of course got the unboxing on video (and in pictures below) but there was one stipulation: We can't actually say <strong>anything</strong> about the final hardware until a week from Monday, so you'll just have to enjoy the schweet tunes we picked for your aural enjoyment as the unboxing (and our vocal silence) unfolds. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/">PSP Go unboxing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/#2300791"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/joystiq-psp-go-029-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/#2300792"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/joystiq-psp-go-030-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/#2300793"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/joystiq-psp-go-014-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/#2300794"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/joystiq-psp-go-033-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go-unboxing-1/#2300795"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/joystiq-psp-go-028-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/19/psp-go-unboxing-in-video-and-pictures/">PSP Go unboxing in video and pictures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Sep 2009 00:15:00 EST. If you're a busy body with an infinitesimal attention span, Sony's added a feature to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a> that should land squarely in your wheelhouse. First unveiled during <a href="http://uk.gamespot.com/psp/action/resistanceworkingtitle/video/6217171/psp-go-video-unboxing">a Gamespot UK unboxing</a> of the new handheld (around the 10:00 mark), the Go allows players of any game to save their progress and perform other functions on the device. Upon returning to the game, you can instantly hop right back into whatever it was you were doing at the time of your save.<br /> <br /> In the aforementioned unboxing video, Gamespot UK's Guy Cocker saves his progress during a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/motorstorm-arctic-edge"><em>Motorstorm: Arctic Edge</em></a> race in order to watch a trailer for <em>Motor</em><em>storm: Arctic Edge</em>. Rarely do we get urges to watch trailers for games we're currently playing -- but we suppose we've succumbed to stranger impulses before.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/">PSP Go</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/#2068236"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/pspgo-black--gamestore-1024a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/#2068235"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/psp_black_open-angle-1024a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/#2068234"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/psp-go-closeup-1-1024a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/#2068233"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/psp-black_hand-c-copy-1024a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/psp-go/#2068232"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/psp-black_hand-a-copy-1024a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/17/psp-go-allows-players-to-save-and-resume-state/">PSP Go allows players to save and resume state</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Sep 2009 13:00:00 EST. We jokingly throw the word "technophile" around when referring to our colleagues over at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/">Engadget</a> -- but their most recent <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/21/video-another-look-at-ps3-slim-and-its-removable-hdd/">video preview</a> of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a> gives us serious cause for concern. You'll need to watch it (posted after the break) to see what we mean. We're not really disturbed by the way former <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/ross-miller">Joystiq writer Ross Miller</a> pries the svelte console's HDD from its innards. No, it's the soft piano music playing in the background and general tenderness exhibited by the cameraman that give the whole production an unsettling, <em>Graduate</em>-esque feel.<br /><br />"Oh, hey, PS3 Slim. <em>Look at you</em>. You're looking mighty <span style="font-style: italic;">shapely</span> this evening. Why don't you turn around for me. Yeah, <em>real slow</em>. Let me feel those <em>buttons</em>. OK, we (thankfully) don't get that verbose in our video unboxing of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a>. Watch it and you'll see exactly what it'll be like to crack open the packaging on your very own machine come the first week of September -- should you be in the market for Sony's slimmer, cheaper PS3 that is. <br /><br />We've also got props ... well, actually just game cases and other consoles to hold up to the Slim for size comparison. But hey, we do it with <em>style</em>. So, give it a viewing, let us know what you think and be sure to check out our gallery of comparison screens below if you haven't already. Oh, and if we can answer any of your questions about the system, holler at some (game) players. We're here for <em>you</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/">PS3 Slim Unboxing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217812"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217795"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/video-joystiq-unboxes-the-ps3-slim/">Video: Joystiq unboxes the PS3 Slim</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Aug 2009 13:30:00 EST. <span style="float: right; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 4px;"><script> digg_url = 'http://digg.com/playstation/PS3_Slim_Unboxing_in_pictures'; </script><script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js"></script></span> Shortly after the PS3 Slim was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/sony-announces-new-slimmer-ps3-coming-first-week-of-sept/">announced at GamesCom</a>, Sony arrived at our doorstep ... with a PS3 Slim. (It was one of the most surreal incidents we can recall from our years of writing about games.)<br /><br />Even though it won't hit retail shelves in the US until the first week of September, we've had the uncommon opportunity to open the box and offer our first impressions of the svelte console on the day of its announcement. We've documented the unboxing in the photo gallery below, along with a variety of pictures showing the PS3 Slim compared to other consoles, so you can get a better idea of its size (or, compared to the original PS3, its lack thereof).<br /><br />Our initial impressions: It's definitely smaller, but not shockingly so. (Want shocking? Check out the PS2 "slim" on top of it.) It's still a hefty system that feels well made, and even though it lacks the gloss black and chrome finish of the original PS3, it's a lot nicer looking in person that the initial photos might have led you to believe. There's still a bit of pizazz in the form of a thin piece of glossy translucent plastic covering the eject / power button "panel" that looks extra classy.<br /><br />Overall, it's about as pared down as we can imagine the platform getting feature-wise; we're curious to see if Sony introduces yet another, considerably smaller redesign a couple of years down the road. Oh, and maybe it will actually come with an HDMI or some component cables ... and not the Slim's composite A/V leads. Seriously, Sony? <em>Seriously</em>?<br /><br />We'll have our video of the unboxing up soon. In the meantime, let us know in comments if there's anything particular you'd like us to go into more detail on; we'll be compiling the answers to your questions about the hardware for an upcoming post.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/">PS3 Slim Unboxing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217812"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ps3-slim-unboxing/#2217795"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/ps3.slim.unboxed07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/ps3-slim-unboxing-in-pictures/">PS3 Slim: Unboxing in pictures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Aug 2009 01:31:00 EST. We got a big package from Capcom this morning, containing not only the Collector's Edition of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5">Resident Evil 5</a></em>, but also an adorable zombie detection and suppression kit from the fine people of Tricell. What's it all look like? Well, we're glad you asked, as we've lovingly placed a full-on dissection just after the break. Seriously, it's a dissection. There are rubber gloves involved.<br /><br />Oh, and we're going to be giving the whole thing away soon, so stay tuned.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/video-unboxing-the-resident-evil-5-collectors-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Unboxing the Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/video-unboxing-the-resident-evil-5-collectors-edition/">Video: Unboxing the Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Mar 2009 14:01:00 EST. The <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/dsi">DSi</a> launched this weekend in Japan, and for those of you who (like this blogger) lacked either the courage, or the enthusiasm (or, uh, the pile of <em>bones</em>) necessary to import the new handheld, we've compiled a few videos so you can at least experience the DSi. An array of walkthroughs and explorations await you after the jump, and you've also got the option of kicking back with <a href="http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22400">this</a> epic walkthrough. For 22 minutes of our time, they better throw in some <em>popcorn</em> or something.<br />

So you've probably already seen the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/go-inside-the-psp-3000-literally/">dismantled Japanese PSP Brite</a> and took a look at what's underneath that shiny exterior. Now, how about watching the North American bundle get unboxed? While the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/20/psp-3000-unboxing-and-hands-on/">Engadget</a> crew has opted out of tearing their precious handheld apart, we do get to have a comprehensive look at all the goods inside the retail box. If you're planning on getting a PSP Brite for yourself, then check out the pics <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/psp-3000-unboxing-and-hands-on/1108166/">here</a> and see what awaits.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/20/engadget-unboxes-psp-3000/">Engadget unboxes PSP-3000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Oct 2008 15:00:00 EST. Hey, did you know? Those new blue slims are now out in the wild. We had previously said we were going to pick one up and that's exactly what we did. In fact, we've already opened up the box, scoped out all the goodies, and started playing with our new toy. Want to see what's inside the box with us? Then check out our unboxing gallery by clicking on the link below.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blue-psp-unboxing/973005/"><strong>Click here to head over to our unboxing gallery!</strong> </a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/oh-look-were-unboxing-the-new-blue-psp/">Oh look, we're unboxing the new blue PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Aug 2008 17:00:00 EST. For those who didn't pick up the US <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> Limited Edition, we've got a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/metal-gear-solid-4-le-unboxing/858026/">gallery of what you're missing</a>. It's not much, and it's certainly a downer to note that this edition doesn't include a Solid Snake figurine. <p>So, gvgnumber1 from <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRlHal2VAYE&amp;feature=user">YouTube</a> managed to trick a Wal-Mart employee into selling him a <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> system early. And, he's unboxed it for the entire world to see. As of now, he doesn't know if he should keep it or sell it, but feel free to enjoy this lucky b*stard's ability to get his hands on <em>MGS4</em> so much earlier than the rest of y'all.</p>

Seldom have I been so <span style="font-style: italic;">interested</span> in a game; usually, one has something of an idea what to expect. But trying <em>Wii Fit</em> is an experience that videos just can't quite get across. How does it feel? What's it like to really stand there on the board? After lingering over the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/unwrapping-wii-fit/819008/">unboxing</a> -- which you can check out in the gallery below -- it was time to readjust the living room and get in the game. The <em><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3058/2505055720_4f278f67b9.jpg?v=0">baby</a> daddy</em> decided to play along, and serve as guinea pig and unboxing assistant. <p>We're not exactly sure why these <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=unboxing&amp;searchsubmit=">unboxing videos</a> have become all the rage. We all know what's inside them, but for some reason, we just can't get enough of seeing the "clothes" come off of our favorite electronic devices. Take for instance the newest unboxing of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/white-ps3">white 40GB PS3</a> and white DualShock 3, which is set to the Scorpions' amazing "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and easily adds at least 100 points to the Cool 'O Meter.</p>
<p>Of course, the white PS3 is only available in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/09/japan-gets-40gb-price-drop-white-ps3/">Japan</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/white-ps3-heading-to-korea-as-well/">Korea</a> right now, and while there hasn't been an announcement of it making its way to the West, we're sure it's only a matter of time until its arrival. </p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/unboxing-the-white-40gb-ps3-dualshock-3/">Unboxing the white 40GB PS3, DualShock 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 20:00:00 EST. Have you ever seen anything so ... boxed in your entire life? What wouldn't you give to see that hot little piece of rumbling plastic shed its outer layer to reveal the deliciousness within, like some sort of be-dual-sticked piece of electronic corn?<br /><br />... OK, so we can't claim to understand unboxing fetishists entirely, but we can at least try to make up for it by appealing to their basest desires. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/12/sony-dualshock-3-unboxing-ready-to-rumble/">Engadget Tokyo</a> has one of the first retail <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DualShock3/">DualShock 3</a>s and they're taking the clamshell off ... slow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/thill-as-the-dualshock-3-is-unboxed/">Thrill as the DualShock 3 is unboxed!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Nov 2007 10:33:00 EST. <p>We knew the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PSP-2000">PSP-2000</a> is like the Bionic Man - better, stronger faster, but it's also lighter, too. Apparently, this guy didn't know just how light it was when he recently unboxed a <em>Daxter </em>PSP bundle on his live webcast. After several loud exclamations of surprise mixed with joy and disbelief, we couldn't help but be reminded of a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhWLtii3dEo">certain boisterous youth</a> on Christmas when he was given a certain Nintendo console.<br /><br />For the impatient among you, fast forward to about the four-minute mark to witness the shock and awe.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/04/webcaster-shocked-and-loled-over-new-psp/">Webcaster shocked and lol'd over new PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Nov 2007 11:00:00 EST.
